It’s hard to believe that R and B act Khalid was playing his first show in a coffee shop just a few years ago. Now he is headlining arenas and making crowds sing every single word to his tunes. Khalid Donnel Robinson already has a quadruple-platinum album, several top 10 hits, a number one record, and 5 Grammy nominations.

The Georgia native wowed a capacity crowd audience at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh with his Free Spirit Tour 31 song set. Khalid’s solid band along with tremendously talented dancers kept the crowd on their feet and dancing the night away.

Sporting a Hawaiin style shirt and jeans, Khalid started off with “Free Spirit,” from his sophomore record, a record that shows his maturation and progression as an artist. Performing a good bit off of the second record, Khalid made sure to not forget his earlier tunes as well. Bringing a casual party vibe to his audience, Khalid stays chill throughout the set, busting some dance moves but not trying to keep up with his dancers.

It will be interesting to see what directions Khalid goes into from here, but with a voice like his, he is liable to go anywhere he wants.

Opener Clairo (AKA Claire Cottrill) is from Carlisle, Mass. and gained notoriety with her single, “Pretty Girl”. Some controversy has been raised due to her marketing executive father and her family’s connection with Fader magazine. All that should fade away once Clairo is witnessed though. The 21-year-old put on a fluid performance that showcased ease with the crowd and a very bright future ahead.
