Gel Set is the solo project from multimedia artist Laura Callier. She returned last year with Body Copy on 2MR. Gel Set is the art that Callier makes in her noisy Koreatown room with her music having been compared to Chris and Cosey.
She is influenced by Karen Dalton’s raw emotion, the abstract storytelling and dissonance of late Scott Walker, the synthesis of Mort Garson and Tangerine Dream and the heavy sounds of Hogg. All of these influences are apparent in last year’s Body Copy record on 2MR. Check out the album stand-out tracks: “Don’t You Miss Me,” “Bounce” and “Banana Split.”
Recently, Gel Set announced a North American run of shows with the equally awesome Profligate. The tour will be stopping through Pittsburgh on Sunday, October 21st when Gel Set performs at Cosmic House.
