Rising star MØ unveils the David Helman-directed video for “Sun In Our Eyes,” her latest collaboration with Diplo, today—watch it here. The new track is the first from Forever Neverland, her much anticipated second album, out October 19 on Columbia Records.
“The video for ‘Sun In Our Eyes’ shows a gang of people who have chosen to break off from society and create their own world,” says MØ. “Peter Pan and the lost boys—sailing instead of flying—setting out for distant shores in hopes of finding and living out their dreams. Collectively they are rejecting the harsh reality of the lives and the world they used to live in.”
“Though ‘Sun In Our Eyes’ is a love song,” MØ continues. “It circles the subject of being unwilling to accept the truth. You wanna keep riding the high even though you deep down know it might be wrong and that it’s all a self-made illusion. This theme is what the video is inspired by and it is also one of the subjects my forthcoming album Forever Neverland is dealing with. The video is directed by David Helman, of which I’m a huge fan. I was extremely excited to do this video with him and I’m super pleased with the outcome.”
The song is receiving widespread critical acclaim:
“‘Sun in Our Eyes’ has the Danish singer looking back on summers past, having memories of a lover during the summertime.”—Rolling Stone
“Diplo and MØ have done it again…song of the summer”—Dancing Astronaut
“A joyous, feel-good song for the summer.”—Billboard
“A breezy, top-down nostalgic pop jam.”—PAPER
“The bright, breezy track…sets the Danish singer’s powerhouse vocals against wistful, aching lyrics.”—Consequence of Sound
Forever Neverland is MØ’s first full length since her 2014 debut No Mythologies To Follow and caps off a whirlwind four years for the vocalist and songwriter born Karie Marie Ørsted. In addition to festival appearances and sold out tours worldwide, MØ released an EP, When I Was Young, in the fall of 2017 and has recently collaborated with the likes of Charli XCX (“Porsche”), Jack Antonoff (“Never Fall In Love”), ALMA (“Dance For Me”) and Noah Cyrus (“We Are F**ked”), not to mention her star turns on Major Lazer’s smash hits “Cold Water” and “Lean On,” one of the most successful songs of all time.
