Oklahoma City formed and Tacoma-based band Skating Polly – stepsisters Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse who were recently joined full-time by their brother Kurtis Mayo – is excited to announce the release of its upcoming EP New Trick – due out April 28th via ElCamino Media. For the new EP the girls teamed up with Veruca Salt’sco-frontwomen Louise Post and Nina Gordon to write and record an incredible set of songs which were produced by Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Sunny Day Real Estate, Smashing Pumpkins).
To round out the special EP, they got 1970’s punk-era photographer and co-founder of Slash magazine Melanie Nissen to contribute the cover art and the vinyl release will include a B-side etching hand-drawn by the band.
Skating Polly’s song-first mentality, attention to melody, and incredible understanding of dynamics has been brought to the forefront this time around, matching their intense and engaging live shows.
