“Thank You for Your Service” Veterans Day Concert
Alternative rock singer-songwriter BRETT DENNEN will perform live on AXS TV CONCERTS, Nov. 11 at 12 a.m. ET | 9 p.m. PT from the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Col. Dennen has been lauded as a break-through success, earning acclaim from Rolling Stone, NPR, and others leading up to this concert on AXS TV.
Having grown up in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California, Dennen went back to his wild roots to write his fifth album, “Smoke and Mirrors,” which will be released Tuesday, Oct. 22. His previous two albums, “Loverboy” (2011) and “Hope for the Hopeless” (2008) peaked on Billboard’s Top 200 at No. 55 and No. 41, respectively. Aside from the music charts, Dennen’s songs have found a home in television, appearing in popular shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Parenthood.”
The singer-songwriter spent much of his life as a hiking guide and camp counselor, so it’s no surprise that he writes most of his songs while immersed in the wilderness, including his new single “Wild Child.” But life is not too serious for this musician; to promote “Smoke and Mirrors,” the self-proclaimed nature-lover published a series of comical videos on YouTube titled “Wilderness Tips with Brett Dennen.” The videos follow Dennen as he shows viewers how to gather food from “tiny taco trees” and where they can find a naturally occurring “beer nest.”
This special Veterans’ Day concert is dedicated to the millions of service men and women who serve and have served around the world as a way of saying “thank you for your service.” The program will also be seen on New Year’s Eve on American Forces Networks around the world.
Dennen’s performance comes in the middle of a jam-packed week of live concerts on AXS TV. The telecast will take place two days after Blackberry Smoke’s performance on Nov. 9 and a few days before hard rock band Clutch takes the national stage on Nov. 14.
