Copenhagen’s Iceage release their sophomore album, You’re Nothing, on February 19th on Matador Records. Through the aural density and menacing energy of the first MP3, “Coalition,” you’ve experienced the added anxiety and tension that make Iceage’s follow-up to New Brigade so exciting. With this new record, Iceage is challenging their raging emotions instead of simply expressing them. Get a further feel for You’re Nothing via the album’s opening track, “Ecstasy.” The video, below, was directed by Catherine Pattinama Coleman and filmed in Copenhagen. Additionally, “Ecstasy, “Coalition,” and exclusive b-side “A Rifle” will also appear on an Escho 7″, out February 5th, and available via import in limited quantity at the Matador Store now.

“Iceage have always been anthemic, but ‘Coalition’ showcases them at peak velocity: showy drum fills, windmilling guitar chords, and Elias Ronnenfelt’s vocals taking on an emotive wail rather than a blank bark.” – Pitchfork [Best New Track]
“The drums are pummeling so fast that they constantly trip over themselves; the guitar lines bend in and out of dissonance so drunklenly that they sound like the product of charmed, accidental slippage. But what really makes this track feel like pure, unadulterated id is Elias Ronnenfelt’s scream-sung delivery. . . ” – The FADER
“The hoarse uplift of New Brigade’s most civilian-friendly fist raisers returns, but with an upgraded arsenal’s laser-guided precision. Clamoring drum breaks and shoegaze-warped guitar fills bolster the band’s now-familiar breakneck assault, which still might leave you out of breath.” – SPIN
As previously mentioned, Iceage are in New York this week playing two pre-release shows, including “Thrown Together” – a special event on Sat. Jan. 26 at Home Sweet Home and the Fig 19 gallery upstairs, featuring performances and visuals by Iceage as well as their peers, inspirations, and more. The 200 attendees will receive one-of-a-kind handprinted tickets. Gallery doors open at 6pm. Full details available here.
