On May 10, 1996 Finnish Rockers, APOCALYPTICA, released their epic debut PLAYS METALLICA BY FOUR CELLOS.  The instrumental cello-driven rock opus changed the landscape of heavy music for years to come.  To celebrate the 20thAnniversary of the album, the group was re-releasing it remastered with 3 bonus tracks on July 22, 2016.

Added to this new version were brand new / never-before-released instrumental recordings of “Battery,” “Nothing Else Matters” and “Seek & Destroy.” 

Upon its release, PLAYS METALLICA BY FOUR CELLOS was a new approach to the hits of the biggest metal band the world has seen. Even more Apocalyptica created their very own genre and laid the foundation to a career that has lasted for over 20 years so far with millions of records sold and sold out shows around the world. 

After playing over 170 ‘PLAYS METALLICA BY FOUR CELLOS’ concerts in 40 countries Apocalyptica released a live album called ‘Apocalyptica Plays Metallica By Four Cellos – A Live Performance’ including a DVD of their live performance at Olavinlinna Castle, Finland. The CD and Vinyl versions were recorded at the legendary Tavastia Klubi in Helsinki, Finland.

Apocalyptica remained staying on the road supporting the ‘PLAYS METALLICA BY FOUR CELLOS’ run and are going to the USA again in 2019 and also in Europe there are ‘PLAYS METALLICA’ shows coming up.
