The Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar, blazes into town for a candid conversation with comedy icons Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong in an all-new episode ofRock & Roll Road Trip—premiering Sunday, May 12 at 8pE/5pP. During the night, the duo discuss their love and respect for the unparalleled Richard Pryor; share their secrets for a successful standup set; jam on their signature hit “Save The Whales”; open up about their fight to fully legalize marijuana; and more.

In this exclusive first look, “Los Guys” reflect on what it really means to have a ‘sense of humor’, and examine what makes comedy so funny. “A sense of humor… is knowing when something is funny,” Marin explains. “That’s the sense of humor. When you see it, and nobody else does.” Chong expands on this point, saying, “The truth, the unvarnished truth, can be hilarious.” Sharing his thoughts on which comedy legend stands out from the rest as the greatest of all time, Chong recalls an unforgettable night in Motown where he watched Redd Foxx deliver the performance of a lifetime. “He did an hour where he brought the people up so high that… they were just helpless. And then… he brought ‘em down so low that people were running out of the club… That’s genius. That’s pure genius.” Check out the first look clip here and review the entire episode here.
