Who could be more fitting to host the WDVE Halloween party than Alice Cooper?  With the tradition and road that Cooper paved as the shock rocker, it was a dream Halloween celebration come true titled ” A Paranormal Evening with Alice Cooper”.  The audience increased the spookiness by dressing for the occasion, the beer flowed, and Alice ruled the night.  With an absolutely amazing backing band, which Alice has always put together, the act slammed through a perfect 21 songs.

As the curtain came down and the smoke rose to the John Carpenter’s Halloween theme and the Spend The night intro, Alice appeared in a vampire’s cowl as the band went into “Brutal Planet” (circa 2000).  Then they went into a 1-2-3 punch with “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “Under My Wheels,” and “Billion Dollar Babies,” and it was lights out from there on in.  The gorgeous Nita Strauss blazed away on her guitar along with Ryan Roxie and Tommy Henrickson who each bring a certain flavor and style to the three guitar attack.  Of course, Chuck Garric (bass) and Glen Sobel (drums) hold down the bottom expertly.

There was no short of theatrics as Cooper ran through classics such as “Feed My Frankenstein, “I’m Eighteen,” and “School’s Out” with a bit of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall Part 2” thrown in.  The requisite monsters, zombies, and the infamous guillotine all made their appearance, of course, complete with a Strauss guitar solo and Sobel drum solo.  It’s safe to say that the audience was completely entertained and even though Cooper is 70, he continues to be one of the guarantees of a great night in rock n roll.
