FEBRUARY 5, 2018 – SANTA CRUZ, CA – Indie rock/blues band, Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra, are streaming their new album, Stereoscope, exclusively this week via Glide Magazine. Listen HERE. “Stereoscope marks an evolutionary leap in a journey of artistic identity, songwriting maturity, band friendship and fiery group synergy”, Glide Magazine writes. “Here, Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra homed in on their signature cosmic roots aesthetic, brimming with cinematic songcraft, impressionistic lyrics, clever arrangements, telepathic ensemble interplay, and soulfully world-weary vocals.” Stereoscope releases officially this Friday, 2/9, and will be supported through a string of US tour dates this spring. Co-produced by Cian Riordan (Doyle Bramhall II, Foxygen, Nickel Creek) and the members of the Old Soul Orchestra, Stereoscoperepresents the maturation of artists shedding hero worship and embracing the creativity within. “Going into this, we had a very similar and clear vision of the kind of album we wanted to make,” band leader, vocalist and guitarist, Marty O’Reilly, explains. “And that was an album with more melodic and chordal movement than our previous work, and one that relied less on our influences and more on our own emotions and the character of our ‘musical handwriting’.” The resulting 11 songs represent a milestone entry for Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra, offering forth the band’s most assured release to date. “We put our heart and soul into this album,” O’Reilly shares. “It’s the album I’ve always wanted to make-one that ten years later I can still be proud of. Making it has made me feel whole, and brought me a lot of joy.”
In their five-year existence, Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra have released one previous full-length album, Pray for Rain, one EP, Preach ‘Em Now!, and have toured nationally and internationally, selling out venues along the West Coast and throughout the United Kingdom. Select career live performance highlights include Outsidelands Festival, Bottlerock, and the Maverick Festival, where despite being at the bottom of the bill, the group managed to sell more CDs than any other artist in the festival’s history.
Additionally, Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra have played shows with Shakey Graves, Deer Tick, Martin Sexton and Kaki King, and were featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition. The band’s most popular track, “Cold Canary Gaslight,” has also surpassed one million Spotify streams.
Marty O’Reilly & the Old Soul Orchestra are Marty O’Reilly (vocals/guitar), Chris Lynch (violin), Ben Berry (bass) and Matt Goff (drums).
