KT Tunstall returns with an explosive 11 track collection of songs on her fifth studio album
KIN to be released on September 9th on Caroline Records. Produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Fitz and the Tantrums, Air, M83 and more), and written and recorded by KT in LA, it exemplifies the very best of guitar pop. It has been over ten years since KT released her multi-platinum debut, Eye To The Telescope, and in KIN, KT sees its full bodied and blooded follow up. The diverse collection includes lead single “Maybe It’s a Good Thing” (video here), a duet with KT fan James Bay, the raucous rebellion of “It Took Me So Long To Get Here, But Here I Am,” “Run On Home,” the call to arms of “Hard Girls,” and the beautiful album closer “Love Is An Ocean.”
 
 

Big Mess

LA quintet Grouplove’s forthcoming third album Big Mess will be released on September 9th via Canvasback Music/Atlantic Records. Recorded in Los Angeles and Seattle with producers Captain Cut (Grouplove’s own Ryan Rabin) and Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, Band of Horses, The Shins), the album features the group’s signature anthemic choruses and infectious hooks that first brought them to prominence through hits like “Tongue Tied” and “Ways To Go.”  No stranger to the festival circuit and alternative ear buds around the world, the band’s new album capitalizes on their ability to deliver sunny pop-tinged rock.

Jacob Whitesides will release his long-awaited debut solo album Why? on September 9th via Double U Records. The album, produced by Nashville-based David Spencer, showcases the soulful singing and songwriting of an 18-year old, whose independent approach has captured the attention of critics and industry tastemakers as well as connecting with millions of fans around the world. From being his own CEO (Double U Records, partnered with BMG) to creating unique fan interactions, live experiences & contests – Jacob, is challenging the music business as we know it. Why? is the follow-up to Whitesides two chart-topping EPs A Piece of Me and Faces On Film.

Tightrope Walker 

September 23rd – Frankenfish Records/Thirty Tigers
  
Singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata will release her fourth studio album Tightrope Walker on September 23rd via Frankenfish Records/Thirty Tigers. The followup to 2011’s critically acclaimed Chesapeake, the album showcases a drastic shift in songwriting and diverse instrumentation. There are saxophones, mandolins, rain recorded on an iPhone, French spoken word, metallic ironing boards and ladder drums, massive angel harmonies and loops on this record. Some songs are poised to become anthems of not giving up your passion and others tonic after life’s heartbreak whether in love or family.

Temple of the Dog (25th Anniversary Reissue)September 30th – UMe
 
On September 30th UMe will release a special Temple of the Dog 25th anniversary reissue collection of their landmark album, newly mixed by Brendan O’Brien. The collection will be available in four configurations, including a four disc Super Deluxe, a double LP, a two CD Deluxe, and a single CD. Temple of the Dog – the Seattle supergroup featuring Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, and Mike McCready, and drummer Matt Cameron (who plays drums with both Soundgarden and Pearl Jam) – has reunited and will tour for the first time ever since forming in 1990.

Wild – October 14th – Dine Alone Records 

 
Comprised of close-knit family members Daniel, Dave, and Sarahjane Gibson, the Brooklyn by way of New Zealand band pulls inspiration from the fervor/madness of the 70’s folk-rock circuit. Their debut album,Volume I & II, landed them a spot on Billboard’s “14 New Zealand Acts You Need To Know About” list.

Recently, Noisey premiered a new song  called “99.9%.” Wild is produced by John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) – listen to “99.9%” here.

Who You Selling For 

October 21st – Razor & Tie
  
The Pretty Reckless return with their rollicking third studio album Who You Selling For, due October 21st on Razor & Tie. The new album is the band’s anticipated third studio album and the follow up to Going to Hell, which spawned the biggest rock song of 2014 in “Heaven Knows” and a total of three #1 Mainstream and active rock hits.  Produced by Kato Khandwala, Who You Selling For is a scorching 12-track collection of rock tunes that expand the band’s sound to encompass soulful, bluesy undertones, written by frontwoman Taylor Momsen and guitarist Ben Phillips. This deeply personal album features a diverse set of standout tracks, from blistering hard rock of “Oh My God” to the classic southern rock of “Back to the River”. Lead single “Take Me Down” features Taylor’s distinctively smoky voice rolling over ’60s tinged rock guitar.
Tyler Glenn
Excommunication  – November 11th – Island Records
 
Tyler Glenn is the lead singer of Neon Trees. He will be releasing his solo debut on November 11. In late May, Tyler released a video for a track called Trash, which addresses his struggles with the Church of Later Day Saints. You can watch the video on Rolling Stone here.
