Could there be a more declarative and exciting album title than Todd Terje‘s It’s Album Time? The wait is finally over: [insert amazing album title here]. Although pretty self-obvious, it has to be stressed that Todd Terje eventually did what every self-respecting, self-loving and ambitious artist has to do over the course of his or her career: put all your eggs in one basket. And what a basket full of joy it is! It’s Album Time will see release on April 8th via Terje’s own Olsen Records.

Terje Olsen might be new to the album format, but the Norwegian miracle worker is by no means an absolute beginner. Terje has been responsible for chart-topping, dance-floor and world-dominating melodies of tracks like “Eurodans”, “Ragysh/Snooze 4 Love” and captivating remixes of Hot Chip, Franz Ferdinand or the great Bryan Ferry (whose sultry voice makes a most excellent appearance on the new record, covering another well-dressed man, Robert Palmer) and last but not least, the lovely monster that became “Inspector Norse.” Here he meets the challenge with a dozen of his works – known and unknown.

It’s Album Time is the testament of Todd Terje’s world of merry music so far. Housed in the Olsen artwork we have come to love (courtesy of illustrator Bendik Kaltenborn), it shows that its creator does not hold himself in so high a regard that he must dispel with sheer fun or twist of fate.

If anyone was in need of the message that dance music of all kinds can be witty, humorous, clever or found in strange places and – maybe most importantly – is able to fool and overcome itself, here it is.

“The Norwegian DJ-producer gets serious love from both hardcore party people and beard-stroke-y record nerds with his gorgeous, rubbery jams.” – Rolling Stone[from 25 DJs That Rule The Earth]

“He’s done it again. For the second year in a row, Norwegian disco knight Todd Terje has managed to find his way into the hearts of DJs from all over the electronic map-not by reformatting his style or by following some new muse, but simply by continuing to be himself.” – XLR8R [#3 Track of the Year for “Strandbar”]
