Check out “Watching Every Channel at Once” on Noisey!   “[Slonk Donkerson is] three smart-alecs recently busting out in the Brooklyn scene and while their hilarious name and penchant for 80’s hard-rock chugging distortion sometimes reads as downright silliness, their lyrics and song-writing reveal a deep complexity and certain intelligence…. It’s these deep emotions playing out behind funny allusions to Mary Hartman and To Catch A Predator that perfectly encapsulate Slonk’s penchant for turning humor into a trojan horse full of real feels.” — Noisey

The power trio known as Slonk Donkerson came together in 2010 but its members, Dylan Vandenhoeck (Vocals/Bass), Parker Silzer (Guitar) and Zack O’Brien (Drums), have been friends since they met during elementary school in their hometown of Pound Ridge, NY. After writing and recording their first two full length albums while finishing up college, Slonk Donkerson relocated to Brooklyn, NY in late 2012 where they quickly became a part of the DIY music scene frequenting venues such as Muchmore’s, Silent Barn, Glasslands and many others.

This summer Slonk Donkerson put out the “Watching Every Channel at Once EP” complete with a packed release show at 285 Kent. Since then the band has played with some of the most buzzed about up-and-coming acts including Total Slacker, Dope Body and LODRO.

The band cites many different musical influences including Hüsker Dü, Wipers, Replacements, R.E.M., Neil Young, Black Sabbath as well as 70s and 80s hard rock. Slonk Donkerson also lists things like “a doily stuck on a mirror with spit” and “strip clubs with laughing babies doused in oil with a blue tiger purring” as non-musical influences.

Slonk Donkerson is currently in the studio recording new material, due out next year. In the meantime, Slonk Donkerson and Last Place Tapes are releasing a collection of Slonk’s best tracks from the past three years on one cassette titled RE-RUNS, due outNovember 22nd.
