On October 15th, 2013, Pittsburgh saw the return of New Jersey’s ILL NIÑO along with Sunflower Dead, In-Cyde, Fight Machine, and Kill Orion. The American Epidemia Tour has ILL NIÑO out in support of their last release, Epidemia. “Staying relevant and heavy as ever, critics and fans alike have welcomed Epidemia with open arms, delighted to hear the clean vocals, creative drumming and powerful guitar chugging they had been missing for so long”. ILL NIÑO have cemented themselves as major players in the metal scene, as they have been pounding it out since the late nineties.
With their Latin-infused metal in high gear, ILL NIÑO honored the US Military personnel, offering free and 2 for 1 admission to the show. The set was full of classic work as well as newer pices from Epidemia. Highlights would definitely be, “If You Sill Hate Me”, “How Can I Live”, “Liar”, “La Epidemia”, and “I Am Loco”.
Christian Machado proved why he is considered to be one of the most dynamic front men in the metal business. He had the crowd in the palm of his hand from the moment he hit the stage and the rest of the band was right behind him. While Dave Chavarri kept the low end down on drums along with Lazaro Pina bass, Diego Verduzco and Ahrue Luster blazed on their guitars and exuded energy, and Oscar Santiago was a nice addition on percussion. Altar Bar once again saw a great show in an intimate setting which is the ultimate for a fan. Hopefully we won’t have to wait so long to get ILL NIÑO back to Pittsburgh again.
