Cropped Out, Louisville, Kentucky’s 100% DIY Music, Art and Oddities festival, happening Sept. 27 – Sept. 29th at American Turners Club, is creepin’ just around the corner, so listen up! We’re announcing this year’s full schedule so you can plan your days accordingly, but first things first — and we’ve got a lot of firsts this year…

KICK OFF PARTY

In conjunction with The New Media Project and Wild & Woolly Video, Cropped Out will be hosting one big slammer of a kick-off party with our buddies from the land of the thrown fish, Sub Pop, and the Puget Sound — Seattle’s very own SUBLIME FREQUENCIES! That’s right, y’all. Saddle up for some beer ‘n’ voodoo with filmmaker HISHAM MAYET of the Sublime Frequencies shop/collective/label as he debuts two killer new films, Vodoun Gods on the Slave Coast AND The Divine River: Ceremonial Pageantry In The Sahel at The Dreamland Film Center in NuLu.

CLOSING PARTY

Good news and bad news… so, always bad first. Workhouse Ballroom (lovingly known as The Cave) has been shut down temporarily by the city of Louisville. For how long, exactly? We don’t know, but the owner/operator of the Ballroom has been advised by his lawyers not to host the Lambchop closing party there due to some zoning moaning and hot water with the Fire Marshall of our fine city.

That being said, onward and upward! We have moved the closing party to the main festival grounds at American Turners, and we are beyond excited to announce that Catherine Irwin and Janet Bean’s legendary alt-country/neo-folk outfit FREAKWATER is officially opening the show! Just when you wanted to heat up and bum out, we uppercut ya with another gem. Just how we roll.

FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

And finally, here’s the good stuff. The full lineup with set times, for your scheduling needs. Figure out your bathroom breaks (we recommend none, lest you miss a heavy hitter!), circle your faves, and plan out your weekend.

Cropped Out’s Mission:

Cropped Out exists solely as a celebration of contemporary musicians, artists, and artisans whom they feel reflect a greater undercurrent of sonic, visual, and conceptual exploration. These are the minds most interesting to them, the minds most capable of emerging from and quickly returning to their lightlessness, if only to be briefly met by a niche appreciation. We’re the ones who are listening. We’ll be waiting on the boat dock with open beers, open ears, and open arms.
