Sigur Rós announce the ultimate U.S. leg of their globe-spanning tour, which will consist of a final, 20-show run starting with a headlining slot at Detroit’s Laneway Festival on September 14th. The tour began a year ago on the East Coast trailing the release of the band’s sixth studio album, Valtari, and will continue following next week’s release of its hard-rocking successor, Kveikur (out June 18th). This tour will reach deep into America, and sees the band playing the biggest concerts of their career.  Sigur Rós’ acclaimed live show is not to be missed, and can be seen for the final time in the U.S. during their tour this fall – when it’s done, it’s done.

Starting today, you can stream Kveikur, the band’s first release on XL Recordings worldwide, in its entirety via Amazon.com – PRESS HERE to listen to the incredible new album now! The Icelandic three-piece – Jón Þór Birgisson, Georg Holm and Orri Páll Dýrason – have already given us a taste of the new album on the American late-night circuit, performing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno – PRESS HERE to watch their Leno performance!

In conjunction with a stream of Kveikur, the band are asking fans to post photos, drawings, and more to their socials with the hashtag #kveikur detailing what they imagine in their heads when they hear the new album.  Says bassist Georg Holm, “As a band we always write the music first and listen to it later to work out what it might be about.  That’s how we come up with the words, by approaching the music without preconceptions and seeking meaning that was hidden from us at the point of creation.  The music tells us what it is about.”
