Violetness Remix Premiere on Interview Magazine
San Fermin features 17 tracks that are strongly influenced by Ellis Ludwig-Leone’s unique background in classical music, which includes a job assisting composer/arranger Nico Muhly, and fittingly features instrumentalists from the likes of Bon Iver, yMusic, and Asphalt Orchestra.
After finishing his musical studies at Yale, Ludwig-Leone wrote San Fermin in six weeks while holed up in a studio on the mountainous border between Alberta and British Columbia. Pulling inspiration from Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises, Ludwig-Leone conceived the album as a dialogue between an earnest, unhappy man and a cynical, elusive woman. Upon his return, he enlisted the help of longtime friend and vocalist Allen Tate as well as female vocalists Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe from the band Lucius to give voices to the characters he developed.
