Peek-A-Boo Records is proud to announce that Austin’s favorite experimental pop band returns with its fifth studio album, Fever Forms, on July 9th, 2013. The second single from the album, “Sharpteeth,” comes out today in digital form as well as a limited edition 7″ pressed on fluorescent pink vinyl, both featuring two non-album B-sides. But proceed with caution: As tempting as it may be to keep “Sharpteeth” on repeat, the soaring guitorchestra and haunting theremin lead may reduce some listeners to puddles of tears after about the 250th consecutive listen. Litigation is still pending, so that is all we can say on record at this point.

The strange and wondrous video finds a group of furred and feathered usurpers performing the tune in a world somewhere between Lawrence Welk andEnter the Void.  Psychic misadventures ensue.  Directed by the band, the video was shot by the Zellner Brothers at the Scottish Rite theater in Austin, TX and in its surrounding mystery jungles.

The Octopus Project has been releasing joyous party music since 2002, all the while touring the world both on their own and as handpicked support for artists as diverse as Aesop RockDEVO, andExplosions in the Sky. They’ve earned a reputation for elaborate multimedia experimentslavish album packaging, and extremely fun, extremely loud live shows. The band will hit the road this  August in support of Fever Forms. Tour dates coming soon!
