Don’t let Carsie Blanton’s sweet delivery fool you. Her raucous tune, “Under Your Thumb” has more than meets the ear. “This was one of those whirlwind songs – I wrote it in under an hour,” says Blanton. “It was a little trancelike, and I found myself pretty shocked about the lyrical content when I was done.” A revenge song with gospel organ and a danceable beat, “Under Your Thumb” may leave you wondering what the woman in the song did to end up under the care of the warden, but it won’t keep you from having fun with this tune.

Blessed with a distinctive voice – both as performer and songwriter – and an unfettered passion for making music, Carsie Blanton is truly something special, a marvelously original artist who is as forthright as she is ambitious. “This is just the only way I know how to be,” she says. “Being honest and direct is in my blood. It’s not something I can stop doing, really.”

Praise for Carsie Blanton

“Her style is conversational and direct – even gleefully sarcastic at times – but it’s also poetic and never overly loquacious. When paired with her understated vocals, it’s a winning combination. “-Jess Righthand – Washington Post

“Blanton’s songs defy categorization – she can’t quite be defined as folk, or rock, or pop, or cabaret… but perhaps some odd combination of all of the above. Her lyrics were witty and clever (“loving you is like kissing a chicken…”), and her delivery was perfect.” -Ann W. Latner – Port Washington Patch

“In all truth, she blew me away! One of the best songwriters in the business.” -Gene Shay – WXPN, Philadelphia

“Carsie Blanton is a rare talent as a modern songwriter, her sly wit and urbane imagery reminds me of a female Cole Porter. She paints a vivid landscape with lyrics that are deceptively conversational and at the same time surprisingly perceptive for a relatively new artist. I’m really happy to know that classic songwriting is in good hands with Carsie Blanton.”-John Oates (of Hall & Oates)

“Carsie Blanton is a Russian Spy. We know this because only the diabolical Soviet Espionage Specialists could have trained such an insidiously tuneful songwriter.” -Steve Tannen and Deb Talan (The Weepies)

“As a battered veteran I’m constantly being asked who are the young up and comers I listen to and like. Carsie Blanton is up at the top of my list. Great songs, singing and playing and an A+ for presentation.” -Loudon Wainwright III

“Carsie’s lyrics are an iron fist in the velvet glove of her voice.” -Singer/Songwriter Peter Mulvey

“Idiot Heart is full of fast-talking men who are quick to walk away and swivel-hipped women who keep chasing the last thing they need. Love gone wrong’s nothing new for the characters in her songs. But where the dreamers on 2005’s Ain’t So Green drown their disappointments in tasteful jazz pop and the mismatched lovers on 2009’s Buoy work out their kinks on the dancefloor, these idiots’ caustic lines are things that might ring in your ear after yet another unsatisfying night in a noisy bar.” -MJ Fine – Philadelphia City Paper
