Introducing Standish/Carlyon; Debut Album, Deleted Scenes, out May 14

Standish/Carlyon is the futurist dub pop duo comprised of bassist/vocalist Conrad Standish and guitarist/electronics Tom Carlyon, both formerly of Australia’s noir rock group Devastations. Their debut album, Deleted Scenes, will be released May 14th on felte. Featuring submerged electronic rhythms and late-night altered states, the atmosphere throughout Deleted Scenes is surreal chic – a sensual, ultramodern gloss disturbed by deep vibrations. In rich baritone or impressive falsetto, Standish intones dark absurdist lyrics over the band’s shimmering take on dub. Get a feel for Standish/Carlyon via the synthetic fractured funk of “Nono/Yoyo.”

“‘Nono/Yoyo’ is a heady swirl of falsetto and intricately layered keyboard-gasps. If you like early Talk Talk, odds are you’ll be into this too.” – Stereogum

Standish/Carlyon have played Belgium’s Sonic City Festival and All Tomorrow’s Parties’ Australian incarnation I’ll Be Your Mirror. They will play select shows in the U.S. in the coming months.
