The Alternative Press Tour has become a metalcore/alt-punk tradition since 2007 and has birthed the careers of many a band who needed just that little bit of exposure to the masses to gain new audiences and recognition. The lineup for 2012 was filled with talent that has risen among the ranks: Miss May I, The Ghost Inside, Like Moths to Flames, The Amity Affliction, and Glass Cloud filled out a packed roster. Last Tuesday, November 20, the tour stopped in Pittsburgh at The Altar Bar in The Strip District to continue the tradition.
All the bands put on stellar performances for a crowd that was waiting at the door hours before they would open. The circle pits started early and continued late, never seeming to end, blending bodies bruising one another to their delight. Besides the headliners, Miss May I, who performed an incredibly heavy set that really shows their growth and mature direction, the standouts of the night were The Amity Affliction and Like Moths to Flames.
The AP Tour may have come to a close as you read this, but look out for these bands to continue to tour throughout the next year, stay tuned to Pittsburgh Music Magazine for updates…
