LISTEN TO “HOLDIN ON”

Twenty year-old Australian producer Flume just returned to Sydney after playing his first US shows last month at CMJ to an overwhelmingly positive response. Before diving into all that’s happening now for this young beatmaker, let’s go back to Flume at age 13, when he got his first taste of production by finding a music production program in a cereal box. This discovery began his obsessions with all things synthetic, and started his addiction for plug-ins, sample packs and vintage analogue hardware. Taking a no-holds-barred attitude to music creation, Flume learned to find inspiration in a wide variety of sources and scenes, distilling his sound into a melodic bass heavy style that is uniquely his own.

Now, 7 years later and a mere 20 years of age, Flume’s soulful blend of lush beats, chopped vocals, saw synths, and intricate percussion is garnering mass amounts of attention at home and in the UK, and that excitement is quickly spreading to North America. The New York Times recognized Flume as one of “Six Hopefuls Worth Watching at the CMJ Music Marathon” and last month, he premiered the “Sleepless feat. Jezzabell Doran” video on The FADER and “Holdin On” stream via RollingStone.com. In Australia, Flume is receiving huge support from radio, and has landed a #1 single on iTunes. He’s sold out two national Australian tours, toured with The xx, played to huge crowds at several prestigious Australian festivals, and even performed at the Sydney Opera House.

Flume’s self-titled debut, Flume, will be out digitally on November 9th via Future Classic with an official physical release slated for early next year.
