Columbus – Supporting the Keep Me Fed tour was powerhouse Speed of Light. The up-and-coming sibling band made sure Columbus was warmed up and ready for The Warning. Speed of Light was high on energy from the moment they walked on to the KEMBA Live! stage. With the limited set time, they made the most of it, going from one song to the next, briefly talking to the crowd to tell them who they are.

Riley Christensen, the lead vocalist for the band, moved around the stage like a seasoned professional, adding some dance moves along the way. The band gave a rock-metal feeling to the show with heavy-hitting beats from her brothers Tyler, on drums, and Cameron with the heavier guitar sections. The crowd seemed to really enjoy the performance, as they gave the band a loud cheer at the end of their set, accompanied by many saying how good it was and that they need to check them out after the show.

The Warning came on the stage after a loud cheer when the lights went off and the intro soundtrack played. Drummer Paulina (Pau) went on first, followed by Alejandra (Ale), and front-woman Daniela (Dany). “Six Feet Deep” opened their set, followed by “S!CK.”

The packed venue was hopping right from the first drum beat. The first thing I noticed was how the set was different and improved. This tour, they had four LED light bars on stage that were place around the band, giving some cool and fun effects. I’ve attended the band’s concerts throughout the past three years, and this was by far my favorite stage lighting they brought.

Another thing I noticed that was different was Ale’s bass sound. It was loud and was easily heard. At the last two shows I attended, I didn’t really hear her bass much, and it was lost over the drums and electric guitar sections of the songs. That, I felt, was a huge improvement.

The songs felt heavier than the recorded album. Dany gave a more gravelly tone to some of her vocals, and the instrumental parts seemed to hit a bit harder as well. This, as a result, gave a better stage performance. Dany and Ale moved around the stage, going from their mic stands to the front of the stage and all over. They played to the crowd’s energy, and you could easily see they were having as much fun as the crowd was. Their song “Sharks” was made for that energy and was performed to perfection. The guitar riffs, the heavy beats, and Pau standing up in the song, it all was done in a way that made the performance awe inspiring.

Pau’s vocals were crisp and clean, even though she herself mentioned her vocals were not as good as they could have been, as she was nursing a vocal issue. Due to that, she asked the crowd to do the infamous “Pau Scream” in the song “Evolve.”

The Warning closed off the killer set with “Automatic Sun,” which is off their latest album, Keep Me Fed. This choice moved their previous closer, “Evolve,” up one spot in the lineup.

The sister-trio rock band out of Mexico only have one more show left for 2025 on their tour schedule currently. Do yourself a favor and go see them next tour. You won’t regret it.
