It may have been one of the coldest nights of the year (so far), but that did not stop fans from waiting outside to see the sold out Metalcore Dropouts tour at Bogarts in Cincinnati. With a lineup that includes bands like Avoid, Counterparts, Fit for a King and The Devil Wears Prada, who could blame them?

First up for the night was Avoid. I had a couple of people tell me they love this band when they found out I was going to be at this show, so I was excited to see what the hype was about. I must say, these guys are everything you want in an opening band. Not only are they talented, but they quickly got the crowd to match their rowdy energy and created excitement for the night to come. Mosh pits could be seen opening up right away, and their singer even joined in on the crowd surfing. I have no doubt these guys will be future headliners, so definitely check them out!

Next up were Counterparts. I admit I was not too familiar with the band, so the mix of heavy yet surprisingly emotional music was unexpected, but nice. Once again, the mosh pits and crowd surfers were plentiful and many could be heard screaming along. For the end of the performance, singer Brendan Murphy poured his heart out to everyone with a song about his cat that passed away (RIP). A great set all around, so check these guys out in the future.

Third to the stage was Fit for a King. Somehow I made it this long without seeing these guys live. It was apparent that the crowd was as excited as I was for their set and they did not disappoint. Everyone could be heard singing along, and of course, the moshing and crowd surfing continued. At one point, the singer from Avoid joined the guys on stage to perform. A great time was had by all and I can’t wait to see this band again.

Last up for the night were The Devil Wears Prada. These guys came out at 100 mph and did not let up. Just like every band before them, everyone was nonstop bouncing all over the stage and smiling from ear to ear. The band played a nice mix of their old and new tunes, and the numerous diehard fans were loving every second.

There are still plenty of dates left on this tour, so do not miss out!
