Where is the best place to experience a Bad Religion tour? If you guessed a former church, you are correct! The Bluestone in Columbus, Ohio is a former church turned entertainment venue and is filled with lots of beautiful stained glass windows, making it the perfect place to enjoy bands like Bad Religion, School Drugs, and Speed of Light.
First up to the stage were School Drugs. These guys rocked the crowd with their mostly classic, yet sometimes melodic, hardcore punk sound. Adding to their set were their energetic stage antics. Lots of jumping and bouncing back and forth on stage. These guys did a great job preparing the crowd for the night to come and you should definitely check them out.
Next up were Speed of Light, a band comprised of teenage siblings. This band is an awesome mix of rock and roll, grunge, and punk rock. The crowd was hooked from the moment singer/bass player Riley let her first scream. Like School Drugs before them, they brought a great energy to the stage and at one point, to the middle of the audience. This band has a bright future ahead, so be sure to see them at a show near you.
Now for the main event, Bad Religion! No matter how many times I see this band, I am just as excited as the first. Based on the crowd, they felt the same way. A mosh pit broke out almost instantly and the whole sold out room could be heard singing along. These guys are legends for a reason and you should definitely check them out on this current tour.
