Keller Williams’ PettyGrass began in 2015 when he put together a set of Petty covers for a benefit in his hometown. Since Tom Petty’s passing, Williams decided to post these covers (which he recorded as memos on his phone and later enhanced) in honor of the legend’s legacy and inspiration. These shows serve to pay homage to Petty by bringing a new perspective to his music. To learn more about the project, you can read this extensive Billboard feature, here.
Williams recently released his 23rd studio album, SANS, which offers a fresh take on his previous work, with eight reimagined tracks plus one new song. The follow up to 2017’s simultaneous releases, SYNC and RAW, SANS finds Williams breathing new life into some of his favorite songs that were once presented as solo acoustic guitar pieces. Listen to the album’s opening track “Fat B“, originally recorded for 1998’s SPUN, and read the extensive Jambase feature for more insight into his innovative approach in revisiting these songs.
