Breakout singer/songwriter to celebrate hometown roots with intimate concert and art installation September 28 at Pittsburgh’s Clear Story Studio.
Fresh off the heels of acclaimed sell-out concerts in New York City (with stints at world renowned music venues including Joes Pub, The Bitter End, New World Stages, and The Shrine) Aaron Pfeiffer has decided to come back to where it all began. The up and coming singer/songwriter will premiere his brand new concert ‘Home’ a celebration of music and art on September 28th at Clear Story Studio located in Pittsburgh’s historic Southside neighborhood.
With unmatched vocal power and presence, Pfeiffer’s set list will feature covers of the 80’s and 90’s R&B, hip-hop, neo-soul songs that made up the soundtrack of his youth. He will also pay homage to classic jazz and gospel standards with original songs, for which he has originated music and lyrics; his raw, rich, and genuine emotion will show Pittsburgh audiences his diversity and abilities to tell a story through music.
“The one thing I tell audiences is to expect the unexpected at my shows, sometimes I change my mind or I tell a story or I talk about an event that’s going on in my personal life that I relate to [a] particular song. That’s the whole point of going seeing a musician live, for me. …I feel like I am inviting an audience into my living room—I don’t want to just play the album, I want to talk to them about it, ask you questions, introduce people, even joke about some dumb thing I did on the subway this morning. If the audience feels like they’ve known you forever, they’ll follow you anywhere.” –Pfeiffer Notes from a Press Interview 05/13
The night also will feature Scott Simon, an astounding jazz guitarist that Aaron found in Brooklyn NY. Scott has become an intricate part of Aaron’s writing process. They have written all of Aaron’s new songs together. Aaron comes up with the words and melodies and Scott fills in the rest. Aaron’s will be reuniting with his unrivaled 6 piece jazz ensemble that he performed with when he lived in Pittsburgh.
Additionally, he has enlisted NYC-based visual artist Ryan Ostrowski to develop a one-of-a-kind art installation at the event, which will have Ostrowski literally creating four pieces of art aroud the venue that are inspired by Pfeiffer’s music selections for the concert. Ryan will travel to four easels set up around the audience and have just 30 minutes to adorn his pieces with his signature “tribalization” technique, causing innovative and one-of-a-kind twists on iconic Pittsburgh images.
Ostrowski, who has quickly made a name for himself in the New York art scene with a style that infuses tribal markings and symbology with pop art and American icons— will bring the concert to life before audiences eyes through a set of four canvases which he will paint (inspired by Aaron’s music) throughout the course of the show. The four pieces will be auctioned after the event is over.
The art-fusion experience is only one of the many surprises Pfeiffer has in store for his hometown. The singer has promised candid answers to common questions he gets on the subject(s) of his songs. He is rehearsing brand new covers that turn the original songs on their heads, and, most notably, is preparing multiple world-premiere songs especially for the hometown crowd.
Aaron’s music is available on iTunes https://www.itunes.com and his website https://www.reverbnation.com/aaronpnyc will provide exclusive content on the homecoming tour.
