Challenge of the Future has teamed up with Adrian Grenier’s Wreckroom Records to raise money for the daughter of Sebastian Quezada, their former Bard classmate.
The untimely passing of Sebastian sparked Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner to reunite his previous band “Challenge of the Future” twelve years after their breakup. Following a benefit show at Brooklyn’s Union Pool in February 2012, the five piece recorded a live in-studio performance at Wreckroom and all proceeds will go to her benefit.
The song “You Can’t Call Off The Dog” can be streamed HERE via Soundcloud the band’s performance of it in the Wreckroom can be seen HERE. It is also available for download on BandCamp. Further donations can also be made on the GoFundMe Account.
Formed in the early 90’s at Bard College by Aaron Diskin, Mike Guy, Nick Zinner, Seth Prouty, and Simon Marcus, Challenge of The Future quickly gained notoriety playing shows at art openings and college parties. Upon graduation, the band relocated to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and played a very important role in the formation of the Brooklyn music scene.
Serving as a music incubator, Wreckroom has helped develop over fifty artists by providing free engineer time, recording equipment, video sessions, and a built in audience to see the final product. Recently even more opportunities became available to artists as Wreckroom has begun to release full EPs and kicked off a new video series titled “Under the Covers” in which artists perform their version of tried and true tracks.
