INFINITY POOL OUT MAY 28 ON !K7 RECORDS

As May 28th nears, the release of When Saints Go Machine‘s forthcoming album on !K7 Records, Infinity Poolis just around the corner. Now, anyone can listen to the record in its entirety via “Pitchfork Advance” and hear why the four-piece from Copenhagen are receiving accolades across the globe for their very distinct sound. It’s an album offering more to discover and appreciate with each repeat listen. From “Infinity Killer,” which pitches skittering sound effects against a low-end drone, to “Yard Heads,” a song that perfectly represents that When Saints Go Machine signature longing feeling, to “Degeneration,”where the band strips back rave elements and twists them into new shapes, to “Dead Boy,” which sees Vonsild’s tremulous falsetto floated over a semi-ambient soundscape, Infinity Pool shows the band creating outside of their comfort zone. The band challenges themselves and their listeners resulting in a complex and rewarding album from beginning to end. After listening to the record, watch the brand new video for Infinity Pool’s “Iodine,” created by Kristian Nordentoft and William Reynish.

“The idea for creating this video came when we heard about the song title, ‘Iodine.’ We found these wild gorgeous pictures of iodine crystals that we wanted to work with and expanded the universe that we had previously worked on with the teaser video we did for Infinity Pool. We used a technique called ‘Camera Mapping,’ where you project an image onto a surface and move the camera towards the image to reach a depth effect. The film’s frozen pace we think fits the song’s hypnotic universe.” – Kristian Nordentoft & William Reynish

WHAT’S BEEN SAID ABOUT WHEN SAINTS GO MACHINE:

“‘Iodine’ blends soulful, warped vocals with an off-kilter, cinematic groove” – SPIN

“When Saints Go Machine’s general prerogative of making filmic music fronted with Arthur Russell-redolent vocals is entirely upheld here, though the presets and sounds on ‘Iodine’s’ electronic production are particularly well-crafted, and the flip from minor key to major for the hook is thereby particularly sublime. Recommended listening . . ” – Stereogum

“[Iodine] is filled with hooks and rhythmic echoes that send you into a shadowy daydream you may never want to leave.” –The FADER

” . . . the first single from the forthcoming Infinity Pool defies expectations again. Curiously, Killer Mike plays the lead performer here, riding the blend of beats and soft tones with commanding ease. But then vocalist Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild brings his sweet voice to the break, almost a guest on his band’s work for once but providing the key central anchor nonetheless.” – Pitchfork

“The selection of Killer Mike as guest MC on this, the lead single from the band’s upcoming sophomore album, ‘Infinity Pool,’ is both beguiling and the best thing ever.” – Billboard

“Weaving together a deep, bumpin’ groove and cool, tingly vocals, ‘Iodine’ is a slick, yet booming and serpentine number that quickly wraps itself tightly around the listener with no intention of easing its grip.” – Consequence of Sound
