FACT Mag premieres the slinking new remix from beloved Chicago production duo The-Drum of Bird Call’s kinetic second single “Phantom Limbs” taking the R&B tinged pop track to spookier open spaces. Bird Call is the New York-based project of songwriter and vocalist Chiara Angelicola and producer Bryan Senti. Early last year Angelicola teamed up with Senti (who had previously worked with artists like Mark Ronson and Rufus Wainwright) and together embarked on a transformation in soundscapes and collaboration. Following the EP release, the project’s forthcoming debut LP under the new sound Will We Get To Mars? will drop later this year and showcases over a year’s worth of songwriting and production experimentation for the duo. Much of the record’s lyrical content explores a particularly turbulent past relationship for Angelicola, lending a particular efficacy to the new collection of tracks.
Phantom Limbs EP Tracklist
1. Phantom Limbs
2. Phantom Limbs (The-Drum remix)
3. Phantom Limbs (My Great Ghost remix)
4. When The Fires Roam
“…a dangerous, romantic quality to it, Angelicola emoting over a bed of cinema-worthy synths like Grimes on downers” – Under The Radar
“Chiara Angelicola has gone electro….It’s a change that suits Angelicola’s direct, impassioned voice well. Collaborator Bryan Senti has kept the spirit behind Bird Call’s earlier material, with its ethereal backing arrangements and focus on Angelicola.” – WNYC
