One Of The Year’s Best Band In Willamette Week!!!

IMG_2237.162152

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the band became one of the must see acts at last year’s CMJ. Happy to take influence from grey skies, early sci-fi novels, fuzz pedals and homemade drone boxesWIBGformed as a duo in Portland, Oregon in 2008. Soon after, they took sail in a rickety ship called “The Blue Whale”, making a glorious racket across the United States and releasing an 11 track album of drunken-funeral-folk tunes in 2009 entitled My Bones They Are Naked. Since the band has grown in numbers and signed with Mon Amie Records of Brooklyn, NY in 2011. A two song, 16 minute/45 rpm/10” entitled “Sunbeams and the Cosmic Ascent to Nowheresville” is now available, and their self titled LP was  released last year.

Praise For WIBG:

“Wooden Indian Burial Ground surge through blues-riffing garage psychedlia, with vicious guitar tones and a handmade analog synthesizer…the point of the songs is the way they ride the rudimentary riffs toward euphoric dementia.” – NEW YORK TIMES (Jon Pareles)

“Wooden Indian Burial Ground are the rare breed of psychedelic garage music that rises above the mediocrity of most bands making this sort of music these days.”  – NPR ALL SONGS CONSIDERED

“Wooden Indian Burial Ground invigorates the spirit of time-tested Americana with compositions that’ll both raise your neck hairs and help the whiskey go down. WIBG’s self released debut sound like ghosts jamming through thin walls, mastering the marimba, bass, and banjo they picked up in some other dimension.” – SL WEEKLY
