Travis Barker & Yelawolf – “Push ‘Em” (Steve Aoki & Travis Barker Remix)

“From the first bass-heavy note, the aggressive reworking conjures a late-night, glowstick-filled warehouse rave with its buoyant rhythm and catchy-yet-eerie EDM dissonance. Yelawolf’s commands to the audience to move — “Tall people in the back/ Move to the front/ Small people in the front/ Move to the back”— take on a new urgency in the electronic mood.”
—Emma Greenberg, ROLLINGSTONE.COM (7/24/13)

About STEVE AOKI:

Grammy-nominated international EDM star STEVE AOKI broke bands such asBloc PartyThe Bloody BeetrootsKlaxons and The Gossip through deftly marketed single and full-length releases on his Dim Mak label, which he began in 1996and now has nearly 500 releases to date. Those releases often dovetailed into performances at his weekly Dim Mak nights including Dim Mak Studios (still going strong every Tuesday night in the heart of Hollywood).  As a label owner and shrewd curator of talent from around the world, those club nights have hosted the debut U.S. performances of hundreds of acts over the last decade from Lady Gaga to Ed Banger Records & JusticeKe$haSkrillexKid CudiKaiser ChiefsNo Age to Boys Noize.  AOKI’s become a force of nature who has helped turn underground house, electro and harder-edged EDM with rap and rock leanings into the phenomena it is today: regularly pulling in 150,000+ fans at events such as Las Vegas’ Electric Daisy Carnival, the debut of the IDentity national electronic touring festival and hisDeadmeat co-headlining tour with Datsik.   AOKI’s punk roots go back to the art of the house party, when he was just a student at UCSB and was already booking bands such as The Rapture!!!Jimmy Eat WorldHot Water Music and At the Drive-In at his Pickle Patch bash and forging relationships with big names that would end up serving him well in the future (he met Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo at a secret show in college). In 2012, AOKI was in the next level of his incredible music career withWonderland as his first proper full-length release, followed by Wonderland Remixand his Deadmeat: Live at Roseland Ballroom DVD, all which bring a lifetime’s worth of passion for bands, DJs, and artists of all stripes he has met and/or worked with over the past two decades to the forefront.

Cisco Adler to perform at Shadow Lounge on Wednesday, 2/20 w/Mod Sun, Pat Brown and Tayyib Ali

Musician and entrepreneur Cisco Adler is scheduled to perform in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, February 20, at Shadow Lounge in support of his debut solo album, Aloha.

After years of producing and writing hit songs, and singing his signature hooks for the likes of Shwayze, Mike Posner, Mickey Avalon, Yelawolf, Wiz Khalifa, G. Love, Unwritten Law, and Lil Jon, Cisco Adler dropped his first solo album, Aloha, in late October 2012 on his Malibu-based indie label, Bananabeat Records. The album was produced and engineered by Adler and mixed by Shane Stoner. It followed the July digital-only release of his 6-song summer EP of the same name, featuring songs that blend pop, rock, reggae, and hip-hop with a laid-back summer – and post-summer afterglow – island vibe. The EP was one of iTunes’ Top 10 Pop Albums, and the first single, “You’re A Fool,” featuring G. Love (of G. Love & The Special Sauce), was highlighted as iTunes’ “Free Single of the Week,” which received over 270k downloads. Additional album track highlights include “Boom Boom Boom,” featuring reggae legend Don Carlos and G-Eazy, “California in the Winter,” co-produced by Jim Jonsin (Beyoncé, Kanye West, Lil Wayne), “Tha Good Life,” featuring Mod Sun, Pat Brown and guitar solo by Jeff Wooten, and his next laid-back pop single, “Classic.”

Adler is quite an entrepreneur, creating and spearheading his Bananabeat lifestyle brand and community. Adler’s innovative Bananabeat lifestyle brand combines the efficiencies of a major record label with the intimacy of a boutique artist collective. Bananabeat is a record label that is rewriting the rules of the game. Entertainment marketing and the music business have been a part of the Adler name for generations, and Cisco is poised to take the institution of the traditional record label into an entirely new realm. With a firm understanding of lifestyle and what is ahead, Adler has used this insight to pioneer many categories. Leveraging talent, relationships, and the quintessential California vibe, Bananabeat will be the new model that puts artists, fans and brands in the same room, connecting and building in a genuine way.

I’d love for you to consider covering the show. In addition to everything mentioned above, Cisco recently launched el ganzo (a hotel and musicians retreat in Mexico) and has multiple clothing lines slated to launch this year. Check out a recent interview Cisco did with L.A. radio station KISS-FM’s #weekendmixtape (http://www.kiisfm.com/player/?mid=22774904).
