Weird Kids,” produced by John Feldmann (The Used, Yellowcard, All Time Low, Panic! At The Disco), is WATIC’s follow-up release to their successful debut album, “Best Intentions,”which launched the band into worldwideexposure – debuting at 122 on theBillboard Top 200 and landing the band on the covers of Alternative Press and Kerrang! Magazine. The band garnered over 3 million YouTube views for their “Never Be What You Want (Acoustic)” music video, received a prestigious Kerrang! Awards nomination for Best International Newcomer in 2011, and rocked major festivals like Reading and Leeds and international tours with bands including All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Yellowcard, Never Shout Never and many more. While some bands might be content to rest on the laurels of newfound success, WATIC had no such interest, heading into the studio with more ambition than ever.

In the studio, Feldmann acted as a catalyst, pushing the band to step out of their comfort zone and helping them reach their full creative potential as a band. In addition to the snarky, wit that is characteristic of WATIC, Weird Kids put forth their most diverse material to date – and exposes an intimate, more personal side of Jardine that allows listeners into her world in a way they haven’t been before.

The Poughkeepsie, NY quintet – consisting of lead vocalist Tay Jardine, vocalist/guitarist Jordan Eckes, guitarist Cameron Hurley, bassist Mike Ferri and drummer Rob Chianelli – is back after four whirlwind years together with a determination and drive that has turned first-time listeners into diehard fans, with the aid of Jardine’s infectious attitude and spunky, quick-witted personality. She’s got the type of stage presence that drives guys crazy (in a good way) while making girls want to emulate her.

We Are The In Crowd just wrapped up their UK tour with Neck Deep and Save Your Breath. They kick off their North “Reunion Tour 2014” with William BeckettSet It off, State Champs and Candy Hearts on February 21st. Download a tour sampler here.

“I don’t know that I’ve felt this way about our other records,” says Jardine, proudly. She continues, “I’ve been proud of our band for finishing an album. I was happy we got it done. But I’m really proud of this record, and that’s not something I can say easily…I’m as happy with it as I possibly could be.”

“Windows In Heaven” sees Jardine at her most vulnerable, singing a ballad about her late father. “‘Windows In Heaven’ is a very personal song,” says Jardine, “When someone close to you passes away, after awhile you begin to wonder how they would preserve you if they were still here. In my case, it’s my Dad. One of the happiest and inspiring people I have ever known,” She continues, “My dad was a musician, and he’s always in my head when we’re out reaching these milestones in our band’s career. When we got signed, when we play a big show, I always wish I could call him and tell him about it. We played the main stage at Reading and Leeds and I remember looking up and thinking, ‘Would you be proud of me?’ This song helps remind me who he is to me.”

We Are The In Crowd Release Music Video For “The Best Thing (That Never Happened)” /ALTAR BAR PGH 2/26

We Are The In Crowd have released the music video for “The Best Thing (That Never Happened),” the first single off their John Feldmann-produced sophomore album, “Weird Kids,” which will be released via Hopeless Records on February 18th, 2014. Watch the new music video here: http://youtu.be/BFqtasnu7y8. The action-packed music video, directed by Mark Staubach (Lupe Fiasco, Travie McCoy, Cody Simpson), will keep you on the edge of your seat as lead singer, Tay Jardine‘s plot for revenge on a former flame unfolds. Album and bundle pre-orders are now available here: http://wearetheincrowd.com/preorder. General admission tickets for We Are The In Crowd’s upcoming US + UK Tours are now available. For tickets and more information: http://www.wearetheincrowd.com/tour.

About the making of the music video Jardine, says, “This was definitely one of the busiest I’ve been on a video set. I don’t remember taking more than a 5-minute break in between anything. I had a blast though! I even got to drive that stunt car (which obviously I had help with on the really crazy moves done by a stunt driver) it was still really exciting.” She continues,  “When we first read the treatment for this video, we immediately took it on. The fact that the location takes place in a desert was really appealing to us too. Every band needs at least one desert video right?! Well, we said that until once the video was a wrap, we actually were the ones to get stuck and stranded in the desert for hours until we finally got through to 911. Hopefully the cops really believe we were shooting a video now. I will never forget that day!

The Poughkeepsie, NY quintet – consisting of lead vocalist Jardine, vocalist/guitarist Jordan Eckes, guitarist Cameron Hurley, bassist Mike Ferri and drummer Rob Chianelli – is finally taking its time after four whirlwind years together. Born only in 2009, the band release its debut EP,Guaranteed To Disagree, in 2010 before pumping out its debut full-length, Best Intentions, in 2011.

They’ve been touring heavily during that entire timeframe, sharing the stage with All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Yellowcard, Never Shout Never and many more-turning first-time listeners into diehard fans with the aid of Jardine’s infectious attitude and spunky, quick-witted personality. She’s got the type of stage presence that drives guys crazy (in a good way) while making girls want to emulate her.

Weird Kids,” produced by John Feldmann (The Used, Yellowcard, All Time Low, Panic! Awards nomincation for Best International Newcomer in 2011, and rocked major festivals like Reading and Leeds. While some bands might be content to rest on the laurels of newfound success, WATIC had no such interest, heading into the studio with more determination than ever.

Armed with the opportunity take a break from their nonstop touring schedule, WATIC was able to focus on creating exactly the album they wanted to create, Jardine says, “I don’t know that I’ve felt this way about our other records,” She continues, “I‘ve been proud of our band for finishing an album. I was happy we got it done. But I’m really proud of this record, and that’s not something I can say easily…I’m as happy with it as I possibly could be.”

In the studio, Feldmann acted as a catalyst, pushing the band to step out of their comfort zone and helping them reach their full creative potential as a band. In addition to the snarky, wit that is characteristic of WATIC, Weird Kids put forth their most diverse material to date – and exposes a vulnerable, more personal side of Jardine that allows listeners into her world in a way they haven’t been before.

John pushed us harder than we’ve ever been pushed – and we knew we needed that,” Jardine recalls. She remembers a specific moment where she realized WATIC was doing something right. Feldmann took her to a coffee shop, after a frustrating and unproductive creative session, “and he asked me, ‘Who are you?’ And I said, “Excuse me?” No one’s really ever asked me that before, I didn’t know how to answer it. He said, ‘Start with when you were born.’ And I just took off. We talked forever. He ended up knowing everything about me.”

Until now, We Are The In Crowd has been been an up-and-comer. A promising young band. A group full of potential. The new kids on an already crowded block. “Weird Kids” is here to change that.

Born only in 2009, the band release its debut EP,Guaranteed To Disagree, in 2010 before pumping out its debut full-length, Best Intentions, in 2011. They’ve been touring heavily during that entire timeframe, sharing the stage with All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Yellowcard, Never Shout Never and many more.

The February 18th release of Weird Kids comes with the pressure of following up a highly successful debut album. Sophomore records come with their own voodoo – the dreaded “sophomore slump” always in the back of a band’s head – and Best Intentions ups that ante a bit. The album took We Are The In Crowd to high places, debuting at No. 122 on the Billboard Top 200. But, armed with the opportunity, for the first time ever, to take their time and focus on creating the exact album they wanted to create, the band felt no pressure at all. “We’ve been rushed in the past,”Jardine says. “This time, we wanted to make sure we had enough time to do it right.”

That first meant taking a break from a nonstop touring schedule. When WATIC finally got a break in early 2013 and throughout the summer, they took advantage of it. Writing Weird Kids took over four months spread across the year, but even that wasn’t enough. Heading into the studio with John Feldmann in September, they were still writing songs…in fact, they were writing until the day before Weird Kids was finished.

“John pushed us harder than we’ve ever been pushed – and we knew we needed that,” Jardine recalls.

Taken out of her comfort zone and opening up to someone she just met resulted in Jardine writing the most personal lyrics of her life. There’s plenty of wit here – the insane catchiness of “The Best Thing (That Never Happened)” is accompanied by Jardine’s snarky take on a “shitty breakup” – but there’s also more depth than We Are The In Crowd has ever offered its fans. The moody opener “Long Live The Kids” is “an emotional roller-coaster of a song,” according to Jardine, where the band displays its versatility, whereas songs like “Windows In Heaven” see Jardine at her most vulnerable, singing about her late father.

“My dad was a musician,” she says, “and he’s always in my head when we’re out reaching these milestones in our band’s career. When we got signed, when we play a big show, I always wish I could call him and tell him about it. We played the main stage at Reading and Leeds and I remember looking up and thinking, ‘Would you be proud of me?’ I wish I knew what he felt about me doing this.”

With Eckes, Hurley, Ferri, Chianelli and Jardine meshing their talents together in what Jardine calls an “all-time high” of creativity for the group, the results speak for themselves. Some songs started sounding like smooth R&B tracks – others were characterized by funky basslines early on. That’s not what they sound like on Weird Kids, but the end result is certainly WATIC’s most diverse record to date.

Until now, We Are The In Crowd has been been an up-and-comer. A promising young band. A group full of potential. The new kids on pop-punk’s crowded block. Weird Kids is here to change that.

Hopeless Records Celebrates 20 Years

On December 4th, 2013, Hopeless Records – the home to bands such as All Time Low, Taking Back Sunday, The Wonder Years, The Used, We Are The In Crowd and many more – will celebrate its 20year anniversary as an independent record label.

Label founder and president Louis Posen remarks:
“There is a proverb that says, ‘If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ We recognize these past 20 years have everything to do with the fortune and opportunity to work with amazing fans, co-workers, artists, managers, agents, distributors, retailers, media outlets, individuals and organizations. There aren’t words to describe the level of gratitude and appreciation we feel for all those who have supported Hopeless Records and Sub City these first 20 years.  We hope we have given to you as much as you have given to us.”

Founded in 1993, Hopeless Records has had much to celebrate in its 20 years. In two decades, the label has been transformed from small beginnings as the punk-centric hobby of Posen into one of the largest independent record labels in the world according to market share, while releasing music spread across a valley of genres.

Hopeless first gained recognition in the 1990’s with releases from 88 Fingers LouieDillinger FourAtom and His PackageMustard Plug, The Weakerthans, Samiam, The Queers, Fifteen, the Cinema Beer video compilation seriesthe Hopelessly Devoted compilation series and more.

The second decade of the label’s history kicked off with the first two releases from multi-platinum artist Avenged Sevenfold and genre-defining legends Thrice. In 2005 Hopeless Records scored its first gold record with Avenged Sevenfold‘s “Waking The Fallen” and its first gold single in 2011 with All Time Low‘s popular song “Dear Maria, Count Me In”.

Recently, Hopeless has developed the careers of young bands like The Wonder YearsWe Are The In CrowdAir DubaiNeck Deep and many others. The label has released albums from established acts like YellowcardThe UsedSilversteinEnter Shikari and All Time Low. Meanwhile, Hopeless continues to attract iconic established artists like Taking Back Sunday and Bayside.

The label’s 501(c)(3) charity arm Sub City was established in 1999. It has raised over 2 million dollars for over 50 non-profit organizations by connecting bands and fans to causes they are passionate about. Sub City has been recognized for its efforts by the 110th U.S. Congress, the California Senate, the Los Angeles City Council, the National Association of Retail Merchandisers (NARM), Billboard magazineAlternative Press Magazine, the Los Angeles Times and many other publications.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Hopeless Records will be holding a private event at legendary venue, The Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA on December 14th, 2013.

The event will also help raise awareness for Sub City’s first benefiting charity, the Foundation Fighting Blindness – a charity founded in 1971that is dedicated to funding innovative research to find preventions, treatments, and cures for inherited retinal degenerative diseases that lead to blindness and affect more than 10 million people in the United States.
