WATAIN reveals their first ever video for the song “Outlaw”

We are proud to reveal the first ever video for WATAIN. The song “Outlaw” is taken from their latest album, The Wild Hunt, which came out in August 2013 through the band’s own label His Master’s Noise via Century Media Records.

The video is produced by WATAIN and Johan Bååth, who already directed the band’sOpus Diaboli DVD in 2012. You can watch the “Outlaw” video here:http://youtu.be/DJvTodICIVU

WATAIN comments: “The ‘Outlaw’ video is a knife stab in the face of today’s clean and witty metal scene and yet another step for us to bring back something real and extreme into this limping music movement.”

On http://www.templeofwatain.com, fans can read a short interview with front-man Erik about the ideas and inspiration behind the video.

In Solitude premiere new single “Pallid Hands” on Decibel Magazine’s Deciblog

In Solitude premiere new single “Pallid Hands” on Decibel Magazine’s Deciblog!

Band graces the cover of upcoming issue of Decibel Magazine out October 3

Head over to the Deciblog to check out the new single “Pallid Hands” from Swedish classic heavy metal band, In Solitude. The band’s new album Sister is dropping in North America on 10/01 and will be available to fans digitally, on CD, and 180gram black vinyl. Fans can check out the first single and title track “Sister” at MetalBlade.com/InSolitude.

Fans can also pick up the upcoming issue of Decibel Magazine, November issue #109-outOctober 3, which features In Solitude on the cover which was shot by internationally-renowned metal and rock photographer Ester Segarra in Sweden. If you aren’t already a subscriber you can check your local bookstore or order from Decibel directly at the following location.

“Sister” was recorded at Studio Cobra in Stockholm, Sweden during March 2013. The album was produced and mixed by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona and stands as a logical next step above and beyond its predecessor, “The World. The Flesh. The Devil.” In Solitude’s strength resides in their ability to craft dark and oppressive atmospheres within the auditory realm of classic heavy metal. “Sister” compounds this trademark sound further, beginning with the acoustic intro, “He Comes,” and saturates the record in an aura of uniqueness; see: “Lavender”and the title track.

The album concludes with an 8-minute, driving, near trance-like opus that features guest guitarist Pelle Forsberg (Watain). Additionally, Jarboe of Swans fame can be heard on “Horses in the Ground.” Moods range from Mercyful Fate-esque guitar flavors, shadows of Black Sabbath, the heavy dissonance of Swans, to straightforward, earworm riffs. In any case, one thing can be said for certain: their delivery is as genuine as it is impressive.

North American fans will have an opportunity to see In Solitude live this Fall. The band will be supporting Watain on their “Wild Hunt” tour beginning on October 8th in New York City. The tour also features support from Tribulation. Dates can be found below, as well as onfacebook.com/insolitudeofficial.

WATAIN’s Erik Danielsson discusses upcoming album, ‘The Wild Hunt,’ in new interview

WATAIN’s wild hunt starts now! The Swedish black metal trio will first unleash The Wild Hunt this week in Sweden (August 14th) and Germany (August 16th), with the UK (August 19th), North America (August 20th), and the rest of the world following early next week. For a preview of WATAIN’s new album, be sure to check out the previously released singles (“All That May Bleed” and “The Child Must Die“) and an in-depth interview with vocalist Erik Danielsson here:

For anxious fans in the USA, a special “bootleg” LP version of The Wild Hunt is now available before the North American street date in independent record stores (please visit http://www.recordstoreday.com/Venues to check availability). This exclusive LP features a simple white sleeve and stamp (hand-numbered, limited to 500 copies); the stamp can be seen below.

To pre-order The Wild Hunt, please visit CM Distro or iTunes. The album will be released worldwide in the following formats:

–standard CD jewelcase

–limited edition CD mediabook

–2LP, 180gr black vinyl

–limited edition box set

–digital download

After 15 years of delivering a frighteningly unique brand of black metal, WATAIN continues to push boundaries with their fifth full-length, The Wild Hunt, refusing to compromise their sound and vision. Amid the tracks teeming with the trio’s classic sound, the album also features clean vocals, Spanish guitars, and other musical experimentation, with the end result being “their most daring album yet” (Decibel Magazine). In Decibel Magazine‘s September issue (on newsstands and online here), a special cover story is devoted to WATAIN and this sonic and lyrical tour-de-force, marking the band’s third appearance on the magazine’s cover.

Read on for some reviews about WATAIN and their critically acclaimed new album, The Wild Hunt:

“[WATAIN’s] most daring album yet.” — DECIBEL MAGAZINE

“There’s a window in time where certain bands are the most dangerous or the most powerful in the world…Right now, that band is WATAIN.” — DEL JAMES (long-time GUNS N’ ROSES road manager), DECIBEL MAGAZINE

“…if you were to put WATAIN’s catalog alongside METALLICA’s, you’d notice an almost eerie mirroring effect: 2000 debut ‘Rabid Death’s Curse’ is WATAIN’s ‘Kill ‘Em All’; 2003’s ‘Casus Luciferi’ is their ‘Ride The Lightning’; 2007’s ‘Sworn To The Dark’ is their ‘Master Of Puppets’; and 2010’s ‘Lawless Darkness’ is their ‘…And Justice For All’. Which makes WATAIN’s forthcoming fifth LP, ‘The Wild Hunt’, their ‘Black Album,’ and the similarities are striking: ‘The Wild Hunt’ is WATAIN’s most straightforward collection, their most traditional rock-based collection; it’s also a tremendous leap, from the lofty, daunting – and perhaps inaccessible – peaks previously scaled by the band into a wide, deep, very big pond.” — STEREOGUM.com

WATAIN announces North American headlining tour with IN SOLITUDE, TRIBULATION

With the release of their forthcoming full-length, The Wild Hunt, drawing near, Swedish black metallers WATAIN are now ready to announce their first North American tour in support of the album. Featuring IN SOLITUDE and TRIBULATION as support, this month-long headlining trek (aptly named “The Wild Hunt North America”) showcases some of Sweden’s finest metal from coast to coast. See below for all upcoming dates.

WATAIN comments: “Starting the first full tour for ‘The Wild Hunt’ in North America seems quite appropriate, considering how many severe experiences and sleepless nights that country has bestowed upon us while riding through its strange wilderness…A thousand years and a thousand deaths have passed since we last visited the States, so prepare yourself to face something very, very old and very, very hungry. Deformed from both victory and defeat, distorted by a constant influx of powers residing beyond the borders of this world, we now return to join forces with our ever loyal US supporters. With us we will have two acts that have the capacity of transforming the audience into one big open wound before we go on stage, ready then to receive the lethal yet illuminating venom of WATAIN.”

The first single from WATAIN’s new album, The Wild Hunt, will be released on June 25th in North America as a limited 7″ and digital download (see below for worldwide release dates and formats). A trailer for this new single, “All That May Bleed,” can be viewed below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr-1TDrUpTI

WATAIN comments about the track:

“‘All That May Bleed’ shows but one facet of a quite diverse album, but we chose this song as a first glimpse into ‘The Wild Hunt’ because of its bombastic lunacy and white-eyed malevolence which could be said to constitute a main foundation for the album. The lyric is an invitation to sacrificial blood letting, ecstatic zealotry and human sacrifice. The salt of Satan in the wounds of Christ!”

Side B will be a track called “Play with the Devil,” originally recorded by the black/heavy metal band TAIWAZ in 1988 in WATAIN’s hometown, Uppsala (Gottfrid Åhman from IN SOLITUDE participates on solo guitar in WATAIN’s version).

“The plan is to make this concert everything we have ever wanted our concerts to be. In a touring scenario it is impossible to drag along all the horrors and infernal machinery we need for that, but performing in our hometown allows for a much more grandiose and spectacular stage show and performance. Mark our words, this will be one to remember!”

WATAIN announces title and release date for new album

WATAIN has announced the title and release date of their upcoming album: “After 120 nights of iron will and ardent magic, the fifth full length album of WATAIN is now complete. With broken bones and burning hearts we have ploughed our way through deepest winter into a new wilderness, to which we will open the gates at summer’s end. ‘The Wild Hunt’ will be released on August 19th in Europe and August 20th in USA. Beware the rising star of dawn…”

The album was mixed again at the Necromorbus Studio in Alvik, Sweden by Tore Stjerna. No further comments. More details will be unveiled soon.

Formed back in 1998, WATAIN’s first two albums, Rabid Death’s Curse (2000) and Casus Luciferi (2003) established the band firmly within the underground scene, whereas Sworn To The Dark (2007) and especially Lawless Darkness (2010) helped them conquer a wider audience, making them one of the most talked about acts in recent years. Musically rooted in classic black metal inspired by the likes of VENOM, HELLHAMMER, BATHORY, MAYHEM, DISSECTION as well as the grandeur of old IRON MAIDEN, METALLICA, RAINBOW, it is the larger-than-life aesthetics and total dedication to their art that elevates WATAIN beyond almost any other extreme metal band out there. WATAIN is satanic metal at its most frightening and fascinating.
After celebrating their 13th anniversary with the release of the DVD/double live albumOpus Diaboli (2012) under the band’s own imprint His Master’s Noise, followed by an US tour with BEHEMOTH, THE DEVIL’S BLOOD and IN SOLITUDE last year, plus celebrated shows at Wacken and Bloodstock Open Air, 2013 will see the release of WATAIN’s much anticipated fifth studio album, The Wild Hunt, via His Master’s Noise in collaboration with Century Media Records.

WATAIN enters studio

His Masters Noise and Century Media are proud to announce the beginning of a new chapter of the WATAIN epos! The band comments:

“Since the harvest, WATAIN have been occupied with preparations for a long and hard journey. Seeds have been sown, blades have been sharpened and new fires have been lit to illuminate the untrodden tunnels that lay before us as we descend further down the maze…”

And so it was that on the 3rd of January, 3 years on the day since the recording of Lawless Darkness did commence, WATAIN returned to Necromorbus Studio and begun working on what is to become the 5th full length album. The tentative time of release is now set for August 2013. More details will be unveiled soon.

WATAIN signs worldwide deal with Century Media Records

Century Media Records is proud to welcome Swedish black metal extremists WATAIN to its worldwide family. Legitimately labeled as genre leaders, deservedly awarded with a Swedish Grammy, playing the world’s biggest stages and touring the globe constantly while reaching numerous top positions in the annual reader’s polls, WATAIN have worked hard and achieved a lot over the past years despite successfully ignoring any kind of conformity and concession to the metal mainstream. Unrivaled in their unwillingness to compromise and clear artistic vision, WATAIN are most befittingly described with the title of BATHORY’s third opus – “Blood Fire Death”, a fact they never fail to underline with their infamous live shows: The stench of rotting animal cadavers, the inferno of candelabras and torches, chalices of blood, darkness and death – WATAIN are a full scale attack on all sensory organs. In days of toothless, sterile, family-friendly metal they embody danger and dread and are rewarded with a maximum of support and appreciation.

WATAIN comments:
“We are writing this from a magical place of desolation and desert-like vastness, where wondrous things are at this very moment taking place. Things that will come to colour our world as well as yours in the strangest hues for many years to come. We are entering this new chapter of WATAIN with a will and confidence to make it the most diverse and rememberable so far. And with the things that we have in mind for the future, it looks like it will be just so. Just wait and see, f***ers! Loud and terrible shall the trumpets of Devils sound…”

“Century Media is massively excited to work with WATAIN. This band has it all: charisma, the firm will to conquer the world, and an authenticity you rarely find these days. Mixed with their creativity and musical impact – this band will make it to the top. They are a healthy slap in the face for any Metal Bourgeois. We are ready to kill for them!” says Antje Lange, General Manager Century Media Europe

“I am very proud and excited to welcome WATAIN to the Century Media family. There are few bands that remind me of when I first discovered metal as a teenager that could give me the same feeling of extreme release and evil such as SLAYER, VENOM and MERCYFUL FATE did. WATAIN is one of those rare bands and I look forward to being a part of their growing career and helping today’s future metalhead find their way!” adds Don Robertson, President Century Media USA.

Formed back in 1998, the first two albums Rabid Death’s Curse (2000) and Casus Luciferi (2003) established the band firmly within the underground scene whereas Sworn To The Dark (2007) and especially Lawless Darkness (2010) helped them conquer a wider audience making them one of the most talked about acts in recent years.

After celebrating their 13th anniversary with the release of the DVD/double live album Opus Diaboli (2012) under the band’s own imprint His Master’s Noise, followed by an US tour with BEHEMOTH, THE DEVIL’S BLOOD and IN SOLITUDE earlier this year plus celebrated shows at Wacken and Bloodstock Open Air, 2013 will see the release of WATAIN’s much anticipated fifth studio album via His Master’s Noise in collaboration with Century Media Records. Beware!

SEMINAR DETAILS:
The two-day seminar and workshop will focus on portrait work with musicians and will cover the entire process—from setting up the photo shoot, scouting locations, posing, different types of lighting and lighting equipment for different situations, shooting endorsements, promotional images, CD layouts, and magazine layouts, to walking attendees through the process of what to do post-shoot, invoicing, getting repeat business, and even how to price yourself. Many other business aspects of being a professional photographer within the music industry will be discussed.

The first day will be the official seminar day, where all of the above is taught in the morning, as well as a lightroom and photoshop post processing tutorial.
