EMILY LAZAR (SEPTEMBER MOURNING) Leads the Way Launching Music and Animation NFT

IMG 9100

March 1, 2021 – Emily Lazar is the first female rock/ metal front person to create and launch a music and animation NFT (Non-fungible token), on Friday, March 5, 2021.

Emily created and leads September Mourning, a transmedia project spanning music, animation, graphic novels, video, costume design and more. Naturally, she wanted to expand the universe of September Mourning into NFTs, a new realm of creative possibility on the forefront of the digital landscape.

NFTs are unique, limited edition digital pieces of art that the creator signs & authenticates. You can own each one forever like you would a vinyl record or sell it as the NFT appreciates in value on an NFT exchange like Open Sea. The artist gets a residual portion of the sale so you are always supporting them both monetarily and promotionally. Think of the space as a collectible marketplace for the digital world.

Emily is dropping a limited edition of 2 different NFT’s on OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace.

Emily’s NFT’s combine extreme animation and music from the single “Wake the Dead,” with one version giving a slight nod to the Bitcoin and Ethereum meme culture.

Emily has a very limited number of authentic pieces of her art for this launch, which you can view and purchase at https://opensea.io/collection/emily-lazar-september-mourning-the-soul-collection,

She’s excited that, together, her supporters and her can help make her art their own, as they share their newly acquired collectible and help spread her vision.

Screen Shot 2021-02-24 at 3.57.38 PM

Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda recently dropped a similar NFT and said:

“The [NFT] I posted will be (must be, by design) 1 of 1,” the musician said. “What you own: the file (art?) … I can’t upload that file again. You don’t own the ‘song’ or ‘master’ or ‘copyright,’ but you own the file. For example, if I write an original lyric on a piece of paper, I own that lyric. If you buy that piece of paper, you own that paper. And it is one-of-a-kind. In this case, you get a certificate of authenticity via blockchain that you are the sole owner.”

FAQs:

1. What are you launching?
I’m launching two NFTs:

A music/art one that speaks to my fans around the world, and a music/art/meme one which contains something special for the Bitcoin & crypto community.

NFTs are unique, limited edition digital pieces of art that the creator signs & authenticates. You can own each one forever like you would a vinyl record or as the NFT appreciates in value, if you would like, you can sell it to anyone, anywhere such as an NFT exchange like OpenSea…. Therefore profiting from the increase in value. The artist gets a residual portion of the sale so you are always supporting them both monetarily and promotionally. Think of the space as a collectible marketplace for the digital world.

2. What’s unique & visionary about yours?
Music and art feed my soul but as a touring musician stuck in a pandemic where there’s no touring, I need to find new ways to express myself and share my art with the world and possibly have it appreciate in value. NFT’s provide all of this.

3. What unmet need does your NFT meet?
This is a scarce asset and my first foray into a burgeoning new segment of the art world. I believe my art speaks uniquely to super fans, collectors, crypto traders and investors.

I’m deeply touched by the phenomenal prelaunch interest I’ve received from significant investors, whom I’ve been fortunate to connect with despite being in a pandemic.

SHARONE Spotlights Depression with Dark Horror, Whodunit Music Video for for “Screaming Into Oblivion”!

Nearing the release of her upcoming LP, Morbid Illusion, Dark Rock artist SHARONE has released a darkly cinematic official music video for the third single, “Screaming Into Oblivion.” Directed by Kyle Lamar and Justin Purvis at Digital Myle, with inematography and editing by Kyle Lamar and Spencer Macy, “Screaming Into Oblivion” features the enigmatic Denver based artist with bassist Zach Barrera.

“Screaming Into Oblivion is about depression. I wrote the song when I was feeling very alone. It seemed that no matter where I turned, all I was seeing was emptiness, and my brain was taking over me. I’ve dealt with mental illness for many, many years. It’s a reoccurring part of my life. I try to shed light on it in my music when I can, because I know I’m not the only one who deals with it. And it helps those people, knowing that they’re not alone.

For the music video, I went with a ‘Clue (board game) meets The Grudge’ theme. The idea was to show different characters trying to figure out who it was who killed me, and at the end we discover that I was the only one there the whole time. That I imagined all these different people in my head and there was no one else around.” – SHARONE

Sharone erupted onto the Denver music scene as a solo artist in 2014 playing local DIY venues; since then she has gone on to play venues such as Marquis TheaterBluebird Theater, and Gothic Theater, playing festivals, and opening for bands such as One-Eyed-DollThe Birthday MassacreFuelSaving AbelDavey SuicideTantricHell’s BellesStitched Up Heart, and Puddle Of Mudd. The atmospheric and melodramatic music of Evanescence and the psychedelic blues of Black Sabbath inspired Sharone to start performing her music live with a full rock band backing her. Despite sustaining a dark and melancholy tone on recordings, the gothic artist’s live shows are nothing short of energetic, full of heavy piano riffs, pulsing rhythms, and enthralling theatrics. From emerging from a coffin to jumping off of monitors and captivating contortions, Sharone captures the interest of each audience member through her piercing stage chemistry with her live musicians, and her ever-growing theatrics. In the spring of 2017, the singer left her mark on the Denver music scene with the release of her first rock album ‘Storm’. Following the release, dove deeper into her writing, and came back stronger than ever with the reincarnation of her dark sound: ‘Enchiridion of Nightmares’ (2018).

“Like a series of dark fairy tales, Enchiridion of Nightmares the new album from dark [rocker] Sharone, captivates, seduces, and haunts. Each of its notes, let alone songs, comes with a shadow to [her] beauty, melancholy to [her] light, and intimacy to [her] grandeur with it all colluding in an adventure which just steals the imagination from everyday reality. There is a rich cinematic and theatre-esque feel to Enchiridion of Nightmares which equally adds to its captivation; indeed its songs entwine an influence of horror movies, vintage and modern, into their personal nightmares. With just as richly layered and dramatic sounds to its exploration, the album is a persistent unveiling of new twists and shadows listen by listen. On our first meeting intrigue soaked the pleasure, through a couple more captivation, each subsequent listen leading to the inescapable bewitchment these words spring from.” –The Ringmaster Review

unnamed 1

Sharone followed up the release with three exhilarating summer and fall tours, reaching audiences across the western, central, and eastern United States, and spent the remainder of 2019 recording her third studio album ‘Reflection’, which was released December 7th, 2019.

“[Sharone] showed that she was adept at harnessing the chaos on her previous couple of albums and she’s really turning the gothic-art-pop-rock up on her latest long-player. It’s packed with dark fairytales and swooping riffs as well as more theatrical invention that you’d find at the Royal Shakespeare Company.” – The Crack Magazine

In summary absolute female power, which reminds of Evanescence and Tarja Turunen. This talented singer makes you curious about her live performances!” – Stormbringer.at

Sharone really pushes out the emotions and passion she has for music with this album. It is full of fantastic piano chords and guitar riffs that really show off her band’s talent as a whole. I am excited to see what she releases in the future and will keep an eye out for it. In the Spring of 2020, Sharone signed with Devil Inside Records, and began working on her fourth studio album. The first single “Can We Pretend” was released July 24th, and has been the young rocker’s most successful release to date.

This unique rock artist is destined for success in the metal and goth rock realm. Look out for more new music from Sharone coming very soon.

Legendary Hip Hop Pioneer DMC (RUN-D.M.C) Featured on New Society 1 Track / Video, “The Man

DMC ZANE

Legendary Hip Hop Pioneer DMC (RUN-D.M.C) has been featured on a new Society 1 track / video entitled “The Man,” the second collaboration for the band and music icon. With instrumentation written and performed by lead vocalist MATT ZANE and guest drumming by ZAC MORRIS (Ugly Kid Joe,Hed PEDorothySeptember Mourning) “The Man” appears an unlikely collaboration due to Zane not being known publicly for his songwriting or guitar playing but, unknown to most, he is actually a graduate of MIT for guitar.

Since then Zane has written and licensed multiple songs for various outlets but took a substantial break the last few years to focus on his directing career. DMC and Zane met when the late Wayne Static introduced them, believing Zane would be a good fit for directing the music video and track “Noise Revolution,” which Wayne sang on. After directing the video, Zane was inspired by the collaboration but was overwhelmed with music video work which forced his musical aspirations to be neglected for years to come. After a conscious shift to re-focus on Zane’s band Society 1 he specifically had DMC in mind for a feature.

player

“Collaborating with DMC was an absolute dream come true. Before I knew about The Doors or Jimi Hendrix, RUN-DMC were my gods. My very first guitar lesson I showed up with a copy of ‘Raising Hell’ because my teacher asked me to bring in music of my favorite artists…I swear to you I almost cried when I heard his iconic voice over my music and playing for the first time. It was a religious experience. I put it at the same level as when I performed at The Download Festival suspended with my band Society 1 in front of 80,000 people.” – Matt Zane

“Lord Zane creates music that is insane! Powerful, energetic, fun, and captivating. He gave me that HARD hitting riff ROCKING sound that takes the King Of Rock to the next level! The beat and the guitars for the collaboration we did grabbed me in a headlock! The sound, arrangements and vibe is a force to be reckoned with! He has allowed me to continue to live my Rock N Roll dream. He’s “ the man” that’s why I called this song The Man…lol…the music dictated the title and vibe! This track definitely absolutely and completely ROCKS and Rolls!!! So move out the way!” – DMC

“This is essentially step 2 in the adventure! This really has been a profound journey for me so far. We’ve wandered deep into unknown and uncharted territory. I didn’t know how this album would sound when I was writing each song, and it’s been really exciting and satisfying to see it come together as a cohesive portrait. I’m happy to say that I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created and I can assure you there will much, much more to come in the future.” – Jake Aaron Ward

From the very beginning, Watch Me Breathe has been all about honesty and authenticity. Lead singer Jake Aaron Ward formed the band in 2017 purely out of frustration. “As a solo artist, I just got fed up with trying to write music only to please other people. Watch Me Breathe is really an experiment that says: what would I write if nobody else was listening?”

The results of that experiment have been surprising. In the short time since the release of their debut LP “The Lighter Side of Darkness” in February 2018, Watch Me Breathe has already accrued well over 150K views on YouTube and over 50K streams on Spotify…and the numbers keep growing.

When it comes to making albums, this particular band has an unusual process not unlike that of Tame Impala or Bon Iver: Ward (a proficient multi-instrumentalist) writes, performs, records, mixes, and masters every song entirely by himself, in his own California home studio. He jokingly explains “I just kind of suck at collaborating.” He cites an eclectic range of influences, including Peter GabrielThe PoliceImogen HeapGoo Goo Dolls, and a whole slew of underground progressive metal bands that have helped shape his unique guitar parts and complex rhythmic patterns. In concert, the band performs as a power trio, with Ward covering guitar and lead vocals, while bassist Ryan Green and drummer/baby brother Carl Ward handle the rhythm section.

Migrant Motel is Back with New Single and Video, “Different Kind Of Leather”

3 3

Alt power rock duo Migrant Motel explodes back on to the new release radar today with the launch of their newest single, “Different Kind Of Leather.”

Player

The band aroused both critical and popular acclaim with the release of their debut album Volume One in the fall of 2017. That album included their electrifying hit streaming single, “New Religion,” along with key tracks like “Physical” (featured on NPR’s Alt Latino) and “Snapshot.”

Lots has happened in that year and a half; the band moved to L.A. from Boston; played iconic venues such as Whisky A Go Go, Troubadour, and Viper Room; received airplay as part premiere Rock station KLOS’s Next 2 Rock competition, opened for bands like Café Tacvba in Boston, Badflower in L.A. and Diamante Eléctrico in Monterrey.

2018 was also a year of writing and producing new material and also consolidating their management team with industry veterans Marya Meyer (UMG Latin Am) and Rob McDermott (Linkin Park) and partnering with digital distribution and marketing company, ONErpm.

The rock & roll alt power duo composed of David Stewart Jr, the US-raised/Peruvian-born (bass, vocals) and Chava from Mexico City (drums) is a band formed at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

This international collective has achieved an enormously unique sound featuring a combination of old school pedal/amp tricks and cutting edge live looping both in studio and live. Their debut album, in collaboration with Norwegian producer Peder Etholm Idsoe, “Volume One” has been hailed as “a cross between Lenny Kravitz and Prince… Emotive, sexy and cleverly written” and the single “New Religion” was featured on 6 Official Spotify Playlists, including Dirty Rock, New Noise, LatinX Indie and Rockin’ and remains strong, closing in on 700k streams.

Roots-oriented psychedelic rock band Greensky Bluegrass @RexTheater 2/7&8

Do you dig the sounds of acoustic rock roots like Mumford & Sons and The Avett Brothers?  So you can consideYou need to check out Greensky and realize they’re far beyond simply ‘bluegrass’ and as Rolling Stone has said, “they’re representing the genre for a whole new generation.” So this is not your Grandpa’s bluegrass.
Greensky Bluegrass will be playing at Rex Theater February 7 & 8

For more than a decade and a half, the members of Greensky Bluegrass have created their own version of bluegrass music, mixing the acoustic stomp of a stringband with the rule-breaking spirit of rock & roll. They redefine that sound once again with their sixth album, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted.

gsbg-pressLike the band’s own name, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted is a collection of opposites, full of dark psychedelic swirls, bright bursts of acoustic guitar, soundscapes, solos, freethinking improvisation, and plenty of sharp, focused songwriting. It’s wild and wide-ranging, showing off the diversity Greensky Bluegrass brings to every live show. At the same time, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted is unmistakably a studio album, recorded during two different sessions — one at Echo Mountain Studio in Asheville, North Carolina; the other at the Mountain House Recording Studio in Nederland, Colorado — that comprise the band’s longest block of recording time ever. The result is an 11-track album whose songs cast a wide net, mixing the full-throttle energy of a Greensky Bluegrass concert with the nuanced approach of a band that’s still eager to explore.

“You can call us an acoustic ensemble, or a drum-less rock band, or a rock & roll bluegrass band,” says mandolin player Paul Hoffman, who, along with guitarist Dave Bruzza, handles most of the album’s writing duties. “All of that shifting identity has taught us to cover a lot of ground. There’s a flow to this album, just like there’s a flow to our setlists. There are some aggressive, rocking moments. Some bouncy, funky moments. An acoustic think piece or two. It’s a balance of moods and textures that we create as a band, almost like a mix tape.”

Formed in 2000 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Greensky Bluegrass kicked off their career playing living rooms and open mic nights across the Midwest. By 2005, they were touring nationally, and by 2006, they were playing the first in a long series of appearances at the annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Bandmates Hoffman, Bruzza, dobro player Anders Beck, banjoist Michael Arlen Bont, and upright bassist Mike Devol spent most of the following decade on the road, fine-tuning a live show modeled not after the toned-down production of traditional bluegrass music, but the full-on spectacle of rock.

“We play two sets of music every night with a big light show, and really care about creating a large scale production,” notes Bruzza, adding that, “the goal isn’t just to play important music. We want to cultivate an experience, where people can escape from their everyday lives for a minute and put their worries aside.”

Playing as many as 175 shows per year, Greensky Bluegrass have graduated to headlining status at some of the country’s most iconic venues, selling out amphitheaters like Red Rocks and world-class auditoriums like the Ryman. They’ve become a regular name on the festival circuit, too, adding Bonnaroo, the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Austin City Limits, Forecastle, and Outside Lands to their touring schedule. Supported by a grassroots audience whose members often travel for hours to see the band, Greensky Bluegrass are still a proudly independent act, enjoying the success of a major-label act — including a Number One debut on the Billboard Bluegrass chart for their fifth album, 2014’s If Sorrows Swim — without giving up complete control of their own business.

Released on the band’s label, Big Blue Zoo, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted kicks off with “Miss September,” a song that splits its focus between Hoffman’s mid-tempo melodies and the band’s instrumental solos. Most of the album’s tracks strike a similar balance, showcasing a group whose vocal hooks and flat-picking skills share the spotlight equally. Meanwhile, the guys stretch their legs on “Living Over” — an improvised, seven-minute knockout that’s already become a live staple — and show surprising restraint with “While Waiting,” a slower song whose ebb-and-flow arrangement often finds no more than two bandmates playing at once. “Room Without a Roof” features some of the group’s most layered production to date, with electric instruments adding some thick sonic padding, while “More of Me” cranks up the drama, with Hoffman singing about heartache over a bed of minor-key guitar arpeggios.

“We tend to have a darker sense to our songs than most acoustic bands,” Bruzza adds, “but we still have light moments, too. We’re trying to explore the textures and sounds we can make, while still having the instrumentation of a bluegrass band. There aren’t many rules. We’ll run a dobro though an amp on a song like ‘Past My Prime.’ We can get pretty epic. This album is a crazy carnival one minute, and it’s a psychedelic Pink Floyd jam the next.”

Equal parts dark, driving, and dynamic, Shouted, Written Down & Quoted is Greensky Bluegrass at their best, fusing the fiery fretwork of their live shows with the focus of a true songwriting outfit.

Faith No More Share Video of Full 1986 I-Beam Performance

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 25, 2016 – Faith No More, who released We Care A Lot (Deluxe Band Edition) on Friday, share video of the band’s full 1986 I-Beam performance: https://youtu.be/7_7kwmBmoW8.

Audio from two of the songs performed that January 13 evening, “The Jungle” and “New Beginnings,” are included on the reissue. The original 10-song album, which has been re-mastered by Maor Appelbaum via the original reels Bill Gould unearthed in his basement, is enhanced with nine bonus tracks including demo versions (taken from the original 8-track tapes) of “Greed,” “Mark Bowen,” “Arabian Disco” and “Intro,” live versions of “The Jungle” and “New Beginnings” and new mixes, via Matt Wallace, of “We Care A Lot,” “Pills for Breakfast” and “As The Worm Turns.” Liner notes from keyboard player Roddy Bottum and behind-the-scenes photos will be included with the physical release. We Care A Lot (Deluxe Band Edition) is available now on CD/vinyl (http://faithnomore.kungfustore.com), and digital (http://geni.us/WeCareALotDigital).

It’s been a busy week for the San Francisco-based band, with Gould, Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum and Jon Hudson surprising fans at Chuck Mosley’s San Francisco and Los Angeles shows for a set featuring music from the seminal album.  Photos can be seen here, courtesy of L.A. Record:http://larecord.com/photos/2016/08/22/chuck-mosley-and-friends-the-troubadour.

Original flyer from the 1986 I-Beam show
We Care A Lot originally arrived in November 1985 via Maximum RocknRoll editor Ruth Schwartz’s Mordam Records. The seminal album, boasting the timeless title track, which can still be heard daily on radio stations worldwide, confounded music fans and critics alike. As Pitchfork said in a 2015 article dubbed “The Misunderstanding of Faith No More,” the unpredictable and hard-to-define band “had radically altered the parameters of popular music years before the fabled alternative revolution.” Rolling Stone called it a “raw punk album” while Select Magazine dubbed it “a lustful marriage of mutoid metal and dance floor verve.”

“When strangers ask what Faith No More is I’ve always said, ‘well, it’s kind of an art band…’ I say that mostly to distance us from the hard rock world that we’re often times lumped into. I mean, hard rock, sure, that was part of it, but our roots most definitely and pointedly stem from a specific freakout art time and place in San Francisco, a time that no longer exists. In 1982, the hippies mingled with the punks, the artists hung out with the musicians, the dance people and the punks were one and the Satanists and the sexual pioneers… all part of the same scene,” Bottum explains, colorfully setting the scene for the original inspiration for the band and We Care A Lot. “That weird SF window provided a platform from which we were free to express and cultivate a really uniquely odd sound experience. In Los Angeles, no one really cared much, but SF was always super supportive, encouraging us, directly and not, to get our collective freak on.”

“We felt like it was time to take the next step,” adds drummer Mike Bordin. “We raised as much money as we were able and booked time at Prairie Sun Studios just north of San Francisco. I can’t remember how long it took us to record the album, but not a lot, maybe a few days. The songs were sharp from having played most of them at various shows.  Very stripped down, basic as could be.  The place was on a farm in chicken country (Petaluma). Hard work, but a ton of fun too.”

Book Of Shadows II was released on April 8th, 2016 via Entertainment One Music (eOne Music), Zakk Wylde’s first solo release in 20 years. This release is the highly anticipated follow up to 1996’s Book of Shadows LP, a classic album Wylde released between his work with Ozzy Osbourne that has since become a fan favorite. The album debuted at #2 on the Independent Chart, #3 on the Rock Chart and # 6 on the Current Albums Chart, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The fearlessly introspective melancholy and melody of Book of Shadows helped to make its follow-up one of Rolling Stone’s Most Anticipated Albums of 2016. As fierce and diverse as his work in Black Label Society and as large as his accomplishments as lead guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne have been,Book of Shadows II offers an even richer look into the spirit and psyche of one of the most beloved pillars of the hard rock community. Brand new tracks like “Sleeping Dogs,” “Tears of December,” “Darkest Hour,” “Harbors of Pity,” and “The King” are bold proclamations of intense feeling and powerful catharsis.

Zakk Wylde’s powerful pipes, mayhem-inducing charisma, mischievous humor, and instantly recognizable pinch-harmonic driven blues based histrionic guitar shredding have made him the world’s most beloved American Guitar Hero.

“it bangs…emotionally.” -Stereogum
“to say that sky’s the limit for Galantis in 2014 would by no means be hyperbole.“ – Big Shot
“(‘Smile’) will likely take over clubs this winter.” – OUT

Galantis, the duo of Christian “Bloodshy” Karlsson of Miike Snow and Linus Eklow aka Style of Eye, set pulses racing with the titillating video for their anthemic single “Smile” directed by Dano Cerny which has already been viewed over 200,000 times. As a Valentine to fans, they have released the ecstatic nsfw “Smile (Explicit Director’s Cut)” which premiered on Noisey today. Watch it here.

Galantis have also shared a teaser for their forthcoming single “You”, due out February 18th. Watch it here.

The “Smile” remix package is out now via Big Beat Records at all digital retailers. It features an edit of the track by iconic dj/producer Kaskade, remixes from Bart B More, Marco V, Danny Howard, East and Young, and Dem Slackers.

The duo have been preparing a live show with the spirit and innovation their songs demand and fans will have a chance to see it when they appear at this year’s Coachella Festival on April 12th & 19th.  More live dates will be coming soon!

“Smile” has an instantly memorable hook, propulsive beat, and the custom “Galantis Filter” which blends male and female vocals into one. The Olympian sound of Galantis expertly unites various branches of electronic music into a singular sound. As a result, a wide array of their peers have been championing “Smile” including Tiesto, Dada Life, Steve Angello, radio legend Pete Tong, who featured it as an Essential Tune, and Diplo who called it one of his “favorite house tracks of the year” on his BBC Radio 1 show.

Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklow have individually been celebrated for creating classic pop singles for other artists and their contributions to electronic music. Karlsson is a third of celebrated indie band Miike Snow and one half of production duo Bloodshy & Avant who have helped reinvent pop stars from Madonna to Britney Spears. He co-wrote and produced “Toxic” for Spears for which he won a Best Dance Recording GRAMMY. Eklow co- wrote and produced Icona Pop’s international No. 1 smash “I Love It” ft. Charli XCX and has left a singular stamp on electronic music, defying genre and releasing work on a diverse swath of iconic labels. After admiring each other from afar, the pair set up a studio on a remote island in the Baltic Sea and Galantis was born.

Sleepy Sun in Pittsburgh, 3/2 @Smiling Moose

Sleepy Sun released their fourth LP, Maui Tears, last month via Dine Alone Records. It’s more experimental and dynamic than the band’s previous releases, containing catchy, psych-tinged melodies, softer, dreamier tracks, and some of their heaviest material to date. Maui Tears has earned praise from SPINStereogumNoiseyEntertainment Weekly & more.

Sleepy Sun is in Pittsburgh, 3/2 @Smiling Moose

To get an idea of what you can expect from the band live, check out a recent session they did w/ AltarTV, here.

In the six years since Sleepy Sun released the White Dove 7”, the Northern California band sometimes seemed to live the lives of a hundred bands. They toured incessantly, shed old skin, tore down walls with riffs, and explored black smoke, barrel-dark songs, and studio sheen—all with a core that has survived since the band crawled from the dusty sage-scented Santa Cruz underbrush.

It’s that core, and the experiential sum of those hundred lives, that shape the band’s fourth release Maui Tears, due for a world release through the Toronto-based independent label, Dine Alone Records.  In the sounds of Maui Tears, you hear echoes of nights shared with fellows and allies like Arctic Monkeys and Black Angels…a band growing self-assured as studio presence…the elasticity and tensions of a creative brotherhood. And like every Sleepy Sun record, it deftly walks the borders and boundaries between hooky power pop classicism and hazy, primer-grey Camaro rock—all colored by a lurking sense of fog, unease, and mystery at the corners

There has always been a sort of effortlessness in what Sleepy Sun does—derived, probably, from decades-old friendships within the band and months stuffed in vans traversing and criss-crossing continents. It’s heard readily in the songs of Maui Tears as well as the band’s now-well-cultivated roles as instrumentalists.

The dovetailed fuzz riffage of guitarists Matt Holliman and Evan Reiss is reconstituted from equal parts primordial stoner ooze and blue crystal shards. Lead vocalist Bret Constantino—blessed with the pipes to holler from the hills—belts lines that alternately bristle with attitude and melt with drowsy ease. The rhythm section of Brian Tice and Jack Allen is a seamless collision of fluid science, heavy lifting, and the laconic—spun into a skyscraper-scaled monster gait.

For long-time friends of the band, Maui Tearswill be an audible evolution. The culmination of voyage that has now logged miles nearing infinity and made echoes enough to fill canyons. For newcomers, however—and listeners weary of heavy rock’s monochrome halls and guitar pop’s ever-thinner candy veneers—Maui Tears and indeed Sleepy Sun itself, is the warm cabin where the better spirits of both worlds bed down, share ghost stories, and watch the fire flicker off into dreams. –Carmy Simps, Frisco, USA

HOLY MOSES New Song Play Through Video Released

HOLY MOSES bass player Thomas Neitsch and guitar player Peter Geltat recorded a play through of the new song Hellhound from the upcoming album Redefined Mayhem – out on April 23rd in Scandinavia, April 25th in Germany, April 28th in Europe and April 29th in the USA.  View the video HERE.

Two years ago, 30th Anniversary – In The Power Of Now saw HOLY MOSES close a chapter of their history; now they are setting the course for the future: Germany’s most eminent thrash metal act are about to launch their latest studio recording, Redefined Mayhem, will be released on April 29th in North America via SPV/Steamhammer.  The current line-up consisting of vocalist Sabina Classen, guitarist Peter Geltat, bassist Thomas Neitschand drummer Gerd Lücking is ready to face new challenges in a permanently evolving metal genre. “This is HOLY MOSES mark 2014, and Redefined Mayhem defines a new chapter of our band history, proving also to our numerous young fans that we are one hundred per cent in the here and now,” explains Sabina Classen, adding: “We had to redefine ourselves as a band and gel as a team. There were people who voiced their doubts that it would work. But the new songs prove beyond all doubt that Holy Moses continue to be a force to be reckoned with.”

Last autumn, HOLY MOSES recorded a total of 13 new tracks at Sabina Classen and Thomas Neitsch’s own studio (Neitsch also handled production duties on the album). Redefined Mayhem was mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Dark Tranquility, Extol) in Denmark. Classen“From the beginning, Tue really wanted to work with HOLY MOSES, he told us that our songs had provided the musical accompaniment to his adolescence and that he’d be proud to mix our new record.”

HOLY MOSES’ fans can expect a contemporary thrash metal offering which reflects the band members’ influence while skillfully forging an arch to the group’s successful past with classics such as Finished With The Dogs (1987) and The New Machine Of Liechtenstein (1989). Classen“It’s still first-rate thrash metal, fast-paced and powerful, chaotic at times but with a modern touch and amazingly multi-faceted guitars and drums.”

24.04. E-Madrid – Sala Charada

25.04. E-Donosti – Sala Tunk

VAN CANTO Releases Video For “Into The West”

German “a cappella metal” band VAN CANTO will release its new studio album, Dawn Of The Brave, tomorrow via Napalm Records.   The album can be ordered on Amazon and iTunes.

Today the band presents the video for the song “Into The West”.  “Into the West” is a cover version of the Lord of the Rings soundtrack title.  The video can be viewed HERE.

Only supported by a drummer, the German sextet offers the perfect blend of sweeping original songs and cover versions of legendary Rock classics such as “Paranoid” (BLACK SABBATH) or “The Final Countdown” (EUROPE). As a special bonus, more than 200 VAN CANTO fans took part in the choir recordings, and can hear themselves on the new album. Charlie Bauerfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HELLOWEEN, etc.) produced the drum recordings. The album was mixed by sound wizard Ronald Prent (MANOWAR, RAMMSTEIN, etc.) at the legendary Wisseloord Studio 2. He gave the a cappella sound an outstanding and omnipresent dynamic. The artwork is based on superhero concept, and this theme runs as a red thread through the photographs and visual design that was provided by Stefan Heilemann. Once more VAN CANTO shows the scene, that it doesn’t need electric guitars to rock!

A YouTube video featuring audio samples from all of Dawn of the Brave is available for preview HERE.

Gus G I Am The Fire album cover
GUS G. has had an amazing rise within the worldwide rock and metal scenes and has amassed an impressive body of work, both in studio and touring. He emerged as an up-and-coming talent with the groups DREAM EVIL [Sweden], MYSTIC PROPHECY [German] and NIGHTRAGE [Greece], but it is his work with his own band FIREWIND (who have released seven studio albums and two live releases) and as a member of OZZY OSBOURNE’s band that have helped him emerge as one of the world’s top metal and rock guitarists. His work on OZZY’s ‘Scream’ album led to a Grammy nomination in 2010, and his list of accolades includes Guitar Player Magazine’s Best Metal Guitarist, the Dimebag Darrell Shredder award at the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Awards, and Metal Hammer Greece Best Guitarist on four separate occasions.
