letlive. Not Only Live Up To The Hype…They Crush It (A Warped Tour Pictorial)

Their album The Blackest Beautiful has been called…

“One of the most affecting heavy records of the year” – NME
“With this record, letlive. are in a league of their own”– Rock Sound
“This is the kind of record that changes people’s lives.” – Metal Hammer
“Writhing and urgent, it’s the record that might make them stars.”– Q Magazine
“The Blackest Beautiful might actually be The Shape Of Punk To Come” – Kerrang!
“The Blackest Beautiful is a brutally stunning document full of soul and purpose.” – Alternative Press

Already a dominating force in the U.S., UK and Australia, the band’s unique, volatile ferocity and passionate ideology is pumping an exciting breath of fresh air into hard rock music, catching critics by surprise and garnering thousands of new fans as word continues to spread around the world.

In June letlive. premiered an explosive, high-energy new video for their first single, “Banshee (Ghost Fame),” , which left critics and fans jaws on the floor.  Featuring tracks like “White America’s Beautiful Black Market,” “Dreamers Disease” and “The Priest and Used Cars,” The Blackest Beautiful is the perfect storm of catchy songwriting, hard-hitting music and smart, thought provoking lyrics.
Currently featured on the cover of the UK’s Rock Sound magazine and singer Jason Butler recently named #1 on Kerrang’s list of “The 50 Greatest Rockstars in The World Today,” letlive. is on the verge of a mainstream breakthrough, leading a resurgence of hard rock with The Blackest Beautiful.
Stream The Blackest Beautiful today and catch the band this summer at the Vans Warped Tour!  Follow letlive. now at www.facebook.com/theletlive .
Pittsburgh Music Magazine rates The Blackest Beautiful as “a masterpiece worthy of highest praise” and “it’s been ages since I’ve been floored like this”.
Having now seen letlive. live at Warped Tour, they absolutely live up to their rep as one of the MUST SEE bands of our day and age.  Whatever they have been doing for the past decade to perfect their sound, they have absolutely done it and it pisses me off that I did not know about them sooner!!!

The Indecent Is Making Its Mark In Triple At Warped Tour

Named one of Alternative Press’ “100 Bands to Watch,” The Indecent have been featured in Rolling Stone, Nylon Magazine, NME, PureVolume, and have drawn comparisons from icons like Nirvana to proto-punk acts like Patti Smith.  Born and raised in New York City, triplets Emily, Bo and Maddy Brout were influenced by the sounds of Sonic Youth, Black Sabbath and Jefferson Airplane from an early age. The Brouts discovered guitars at the age of eight and started writing songs as a hobby, eventually becoming The Indecent when producer/A&R Tim Sommer—who helped develop acts like the Beastie Boys and Maroon 5—paired them up with drummer Nick Burrows. Pittsburgh Music Magazine had a chance to sit down with the four of them when they stopped for the Warped Tour and you can listen here…The Indecent (click once and then click attachment)

Like Moths to Flames Release New Album

After Like Moths to Flames made a name for themselves with their last album When We Don’t Exist, a lot of people were excited to see what will they do next and how will it compare to such a powerful first full-length album. Now we can compare, Like Moths to Flames has just released their newest album An Eye for an Eye and let me start by saying that they are still playing with everything they have. The second album for bands is usually the hardest album to make just for the fact that you don’t want it to sound exactly the same as the previous album or go a completely different direction with their music then they were. An Eye for an Eye doesn’t have any one of those characteristics in it. This time around Like Moths to Flames defiantly brought their “A Game”. The real heavy riffs and breakdowns mixed with some very catching lyrics grabs your attention from the start. It’s a rare mix with metal/hardcore bands. Oddly enough, they also have kind of a pop sound involved when they are not playing all the heavy metal. The song “In Dreams” was one that actually stuck out on the album because it was more laid back and had a lot of pop music influences it seemed in it. It was probably the catchiest tune on the entire album. The opening track (You’ll Burn) on the other hand was such a great way to kick in the album and it gives you the entire feel for what you’re going to be hearing on the album. Overall I was extremely impressed with this album and it’s something worth checking out if you are into the metal/hardcore scene.

Like Moths to Flames is playing in this year’s Warped Tour so don’t miss these guys if you want to see a good show!

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER Releases “Into The Everblack” Performance Demo Video

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER are currently leveling stages as part of this year’s Van’s Warped Tour. At the Ventura, California stop of the trek, Brian Eschbach, Ryan Knight, Max Lavelle, and Alan Cassidy, recorded their parts for “Into the Everblack” from the band’s new album, Everblack. The performance is streaming now at metalblade.com/bdm. Additionally, videos for each individual performance have been posted at youtube.com/blackdahliamurdertv.

Audio Hammer producer Mark Lewis comments specifically on Knight’s leads on “Everblack” stating, “Ryan Knight’s leads on ‘Everblack’ are nothing short of phenomenal. I grew up listening to the best in the era of shred, and I can honestly say these solos rank up there with the best, and beyond. They are not just technical solos in the athletic, ‘look how fast I can play’ sense; there is truly amazing harmonic content going in these leads. Any educated player will realize that the chord changes he is playing over are far more complex than anything you typically find in metal. Mix all that with absolutely world class tone and vibrato, and you really have an amazing piece of work. It does not get better than this.”

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s new music video for “Goat of Departure” was also recently made available, and be seen on youtube HERE. The video, directed by Ben Mayer, was filmed in the band’s hometown of Detroit last month. In typical TBDMfashion, it is over-the-top and even features the return of a classic TBDM character, and a real, live goat.

As previously announced, Hollywood, CA’s ART OF SHOCK were chosen for the prestigious honor of being this year’s official Vans Warped Tour BBQ band! “I’m starting a petition to banish black licorice,” states Jesse Barnett (lead singer of Stick To Your Guns) to the packed Altar Bar crowd in the historic Strip District of Pittsburgh.  Myself, along with the crowd, and guitarist Josh James, was not quite sure where this was going.  But if you’ve seen STYG before, you knew Jesse was going to take you on a positive journey somewhere with a message good for your soul, so you put your trust in him and listen.  What followed was one of the most entertaining, if not genius, analogies of how ridiculous it is for our country to decide who it is one can love.  It was a special moment in what was truly an awe inspiring performance.  Among a stellar list of bands performing that evening (The Ghost Inside, Stray from the Path, and Rotting Out) STYG put forth a set that was pure raw energy.  Going to see punk godfathers Green Day two nights later was a complete let down compared to these guys- what STYG is able to do with a few lights and a small stage makes big budget bands look like imitators and wanna be’s and pale in comparison to STYG.  As always, Jesse and crew (Josh, Chris, George, and Andrew) had the audience not only singing every word of songs like, “Diamond”, “Such Pain”, “This is More”, “We Still Believe”, “We’re What Separates the Heart From the Heartless”, D(I am) ond, and “Against Them All” but had them singing them from the stage on mic… and then they would promptly jump back into the crowd.  The other bands fed off the energy so much they not only jumped in to sing but also jumped into the crowd, much to everyone’s delight.  It was an amazing time on a gorgeous day in the ‘Burgh.  If you missed this performance then (like the guy passing us in the interview…see below) then make sure you check with them on the Vans Warped Tour this Summer- they will hit Pittsburgh at First Niagara Pavilion in Burgettstown on July 17.

Listen below for a very in depth interview with Jesse and Josh of STYG where they discuss their Independent Music Award nomination, the success of Diamond, new recordings for Sumerian, and the controversy surrounding the Supreme Court talks regarding Gay MarriageSTYG Interview 2013 (click here and then click SMALL text of STYG interview)

AUGUST BURNS RED heading to studio to record fifth album

ollowing two monstrous years that saw AUGUST BURNS RED release multiple albums – 2011’s Leveler and 2012’s holiday album, Sleddin’ Hill – headline tours of North and South America, Europe, Japan, Australia and more, the Manheim, PA-based quintet is back at it. Beginning next week the band will hit the studio to start recording their fifth full-length album (holiday releases notwithstanding), due out later this year.

“2012 turned out to be quite intense for us from a touring standpoint,” says guitarist JB Brubaker. “We did more traveling than we had ever previously done in our career and after three straight months on the road to end the year I think we were all ready to come home and shift into writing/recording mode. Now that the writing is complete we are all itching to get started with the actual tracking.”

Eschewing the trend towards big-name producers, ABR has opted to keep in the family for the forthcoming effort, reteaming with Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland of Atrium Audio – the same hometown studio where the band recorded last year’s fan-favorite holiday album, Sleddin’ Hill. The forthcoming album promises to be AUGUST BURNS RED’s most adventurous and exciting work to date – no small feat for a band that has constantly reinvigorated the genre over the course of its career.

“This new record will push the boundaries of our genre more than we ever have before,” Brubaker continues excitedly. “We set out to write a record where every song stands out from the last. There is a lot of ground covered here and a ton of meat to this album. It’s full of odd metered rhythms and breakdowns, unexpected twists and turns, and some of our most technical riffing to date. Each of us have parts that make our heads spin and we have had to practice like crazy to get some of this stuff together. I know we always say this, but this will be our most ambitious album yet.”

The band was recently announced as a mainstage act on this summer’s Vans Warped Tour, marking their third appearance on the venerated annual event, where they were last seen in 2011 performing in support of Leveler.

Already among the most respected acts in the genre, AUGUST BURNS RED solidified their status further with the June 2011 release of their fourth studio album, Leveler, which rocketed to the top of the Billboard charts – debuting at #11 on the Billboard 200 in addition to entering the charts as the #1 Hard Rock album and #2 Rock album. Adding to the stellar debut is the incredible durability and staying power Leveler has displayed, having become the band’s fastest selling album to date by a significant margin.

With four successful albums under their belts and the as-of-yet untitled fifth due out later this year, AUGUST BURNS RED have successfully earned veteran status. One of the leading forces in the modern metal scene, the Manheim, PA-based quintet has breathed new life into the metalcore genre over the course of their almost decade-long career, successfully transitioning from shake-up-the-field upstarts to one of the biggest names worldwide in the genre.
