Praise for Temples:

“‘Colours To Life’ adeptly balances both their idols’ folk-pop roots and psych-rock branches . . . It’s an unearthing of a time capsule for sure, but ‘Colours To Life’ still can feel like a breath of fresh air.”

– Pitchfork

“a small-scale epic. “Mesmerise” does just that, somehow cramming six or seven minutes’ worth of propulsive hallucinatory pop into just under four. Tame Impala, meet your fiercest competition.”

– Stereogum

“It’s prim but powerful, shifting from jittery verses to booming, Zeppelin-esque choruses. And, for your own good, just go ahead and leave that sugar-sweet guitar hook where it’s stuck now – in your brain, corkscrewing deeper and deeper, without any hope of ever exiting.”

– SF Weekly

“Temples specialize in ’60s-washed psychedelia, blending anemic vocals and shaggy melodies into a wonderfully murky swirl.”

“with their retro-inspired debut Sun Structures…they seem poised to live up to-and, yes, surpass-the hype.”

– Nylon

“Temples arrived with a fully developed sound… Stereo-panned guitars jangle brightly as background vocals drift away in the distance like morning mist. Tambourines discreetly haunt the margins of the soundscape as sonorous, loosely-tuned drums ring in the foreground under a memorable vocal hook.”

– Paste

‘Relations In The Unseen is not a concept album, but there is definitely a purveying train of thought overall. We all communicate, not only directly, but also indirectly through gestures, body language, thoughts and connections that are unconscious at first,” says Christoph Hessler.  Lyrically, the album concentrates on these unconscious things that influence our feelings, thoughts and reactions.  Every day we’re offered countless examples of this – invisible, unknown – over distances, times and dimensions. With Relations In The UnseenTHE INTERSPHERE have succeeded at a return to self – and to the really important things in music.

The beginning of 2014 marks a flurry of activity from Maxïmo Park. Following news of their forthcoming album ‘Too Much Information’ on February 3rd, an accompanying full UK tour and the recently-aired ‘Brain Cells’ track, the band have confirmed the release of the single ‘Leave This Island’ on January 27th, 2014.

The track is taken from a remarkable collection of songs that pulse with life and intent, and reveal a band that can still startle and provoke without having lost any of their restless energy. The single itself surges into view with a drumbeat and a ripple of synths framing Paul Smith’s vocal before culminating in a sweep of uplifting emotion: a band at the top of their game.

The film short accompanying the music uses the song as a soundtrack. The band have worked with video artist Matt Stokes to produce a short film featuring a real life ‘urban hermit’ living in the outer reaches of East London. The man lives in his detached reality, surrounded by domestic clutter, his actions depicting a blissful life less ordinary – a final, poignant game of chess outlines his isolated existence. Weird and uncompromising, this is no ordinary promo video.

Recorded in Sunderland with the band’s keyboardist Lukas Wooller and Field Music’s Brewis brothers – David and Peter, at the helm, ‘Leave This Island’ will be available on 12” vinyl and digitally, complete with exclusive B-side ‘A Vague Implication’, a remix of ‘Leave This Island’ courtesy of Mogwai and a mix of ‘Brain Cells’ from the hand of Dave Okumu. Available from all reputable outlets through Daylighting Records.

Neck Deep Release New Song & Music Video for “Growing Pains”/ Apr 2 Smiling Moose PGH

NECK DEEP have revealed a brand new single, ‘Growing Pains’, taken from their highly anticipated debut full length, ‘Wishful Thinking’, which will see worldwide release via HOPELESS RECORDS on January 14, 2014.

“‘Growing Pains’ is the first glance at the diversity we have tried to implement on our debut album,” says bassist Fil Thorpe-Evans; “It remains true to the classic hallmarks of our genre, but we feel it has a flair of originality and uniqueness compared to what people have heard from us before.”

The single is released today via iTunes, along with a brand new music video. Directed by upcoming UK film-maker LOVE Vis-Art for KODE Media, ‘Growing Pains’ is a nostalgic homage to youth and young love.  “The video is supposed to be a fun attempt at recreating 90’s pop culture, revolving around simple, universal themes that anyone can relate to: adolescence, love and friendship,” explains Thorpe-Evans. “We think it looks, feels and sounds different to what’s out there in the scene right now. We wanted the whole thing to be like a big flashback. Being that age is such a distinct moment in time, and it retains a certain tone in your memory banks. Whether you’re young now or whether those days are long ago, we hope this video captures that glow a little bit.”
“To me, young love, friendship and the idea of ‘the underdog’ are the three basic elements of Pop Punk,” says video creator LOVE Vis-Art. “Being born in ’88 I have a huge

affinity with 80’s and 90’s culture, so I jumped at the chance to put something out that flirted with these ideas. ‘Growing Pains’ is a coming of age anthem big enough for a teen movie, so we set out to create our own version of The Breakfast Club, fused with Saved by the Bell with a hint of Brookside to bring it back home. This is a story of love, friendship and roller discos…”

Neck Deep recently returned from a hugely successful tour supporting The Wonder Years across the UK, which culminated in a rapturously received and highly praised set at Vans Warped Tour UK in London. They also spent a fortnight in Australia on their first ever headline tour, which saw multiple shows selling out in advance and the band received like returning heroes!

The band’s next round of live activity is a set of UK & North American tour dates. The UK headline dates in January 2014 will be the band’s first homeland headliner, and will include two official release shows for ‘Wishful Thinking’, in London and their hometown of Wrexham. Shortly after these dates the band will also support their Hopeless Records labelmates WE ARE THE IN CROWD on their ‘Weird Kids’ UK run in February. The North American dates, which run from late February – April, will be the quintet’s debut full N.A outing, following a wildly successful pair of impromptu shows in Florida earlier this year during a band vacation to theme parks. Tickets for both the UK and North American headline dates have begun to sell out, so it seems that Neck Deep fever really is spreading to a worldwide pandemic!

MONEY Announces Debut Album ‘The Shadow Of Heaven’ Out August 26th On Bella Union

About to embark on their first UK tour, the London date of which sold out within a few days, MONEY will be releasing their debut albumThe Shadow of Heaven on 26th August via Bella Union Records. Recorded in London through the deep, dark winter of 2012/13, it’s an ethereal, transcendent record that’s notable for its musical and intellectual ambition. Though ambition is perhaps not quite the right word. Because MONEY would never talk about ambition. Such things don’t sit well with them. They’d talk about anti-ambition and the revision of existing values — the kind of bold gesture already signalled by their unabashedly iconic name. It’s an album that defies convention and cliché, asking us instead to be courageous enough to see the world in different ways. As lead singer and ideologue Jamie Lee says, ‘Our aim with this band — in all things we do — is to create the world afresh on our own terms.’

MONEY are Jamie Lee, Charlie Cocksedge, Billy Byron and Scott Beaman. Having formed in Manchester amidst a prolific underground milieu, they soon came to embody the passion, creativity and optimism of a new generation of artists and musicians who found themselves presented with what Jamie describes as ‘an extraordinary, poetic city’. MONEY played shows in esoteric venues such as Salford’s Sacred Trinity Church and ‘the Bunker’, a former factory near Strangeways Prison and home to the cult independent label SWAYS, who released the band’s debut 7” single, ‘Who’s Going to Love You Now’ / ‘Goodnight London’ to wide acclaim. Having been tracked down by Simon Raymonde, the band subsequently signed to Bella Union, headlining the label’s Christmas party at the Union Chapel before taking to the studio to record ‘The Shadow of Heaven’.

The album consists of ten songs that range from stripped-back piano ballads such as ‘Goodnight London’ and ‘Black’ to the more epic ‘Hold Me Forever’ and ‘Bluebell Fields’. Rooted in universal themes of the spirit, love and loss, the album also addresses man’s condition in the modern world, issues ‘such as isolation and mental health as logical reactions to it’, says Jamie. It’s an album full of yearning and soul-searching, a voyage of (non-) discovery that only ends up finding itself and the sheer, aching beauty of questions asked in full knowledge of their own answerlessness. It’s metaphysics for the modern age, which might not be quite as spiritually bankrupt and bereft of meaning as we once believed.

PMM cannot express enough how exciting this band is- if you love a mash of Springsteen, Dylan, U2, Kings of Leon, and all out intensity- then you will love We Are Augustines:

“So we’re coming to the end of the most exciting chapter of our lives so far. We have toured solidly over the past 12 months, playing in more cities than we ever imagined possible, for more smiling faces than we thought we’d see in a lifetime. And now, because of you, we are writing another record (more news on that to come soon)!! You guys are seriously the best!!

For those of you in the UK and Europe – we have one final tour before we hit the studio proper (see dates and ticket links below). We’d love it if you came along to celebrate with us.. We wants to blow the roofs off!!”
