Jack White has announced the release of his eagerly anticipated new album, BOARDING HOUSE REACH (Third Man/Columbia). The 12-time GRAMMY® Award-winner’s third solo LP and first all-new album in nearly four years, BOARDING HOUSE REACH will arrive everywhere on Friday, March 23.
BOARDING HOUSE REACH sees Jack White expanding his musical palate with perhaps his most ambitious work thus far, a collection of songs that are simultaneously timeless and modern. Written and conceived while holed up in a spartan apartment with literally no outside world distractions, White exclusively used the same kind of gear he had when he was 15 years old (a quarter-inch four-track tape recorder, a simple mixer, and the most basic of instrumentation). The album explores a remarkable range of sonic terrain — crunching rock ‘n’ roll, electro and hard funk, proto punk, hip hop, gospel blues, and even country — all remapped and born anew to fit White’s matchless vision and sense of restless experimentation. BOARDING HOUSE REACH is a testament to the breadth of Jack White’s creative power and his bold artistic ambition.
BOARDING HOUSE REACH features White on vocals, acoustic and electric guitars and drums, organ, and synthesizers. He’s backed by a remarkable new lineup of musicians that includes: drummer Louis Cato (Beyoncé, Q-Tip, John Legend, Mariah Carey), bassists Charlotte Kemp Muhl (The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger) and NeonPhoenix (Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z), synthesizer players DJ Harrison and Anthony “Brew” Brewster (Fishbone, The Untouchables), keyboardists Neal Evans (Soulive, Talib Kweli, John Scofield) and Quincy McCrary (Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Pitbull), percussionists Bobby Allende (David Byrne, Marc Anthony) and Justin Porée (Ozomatli), and backing vocalists Esther Rose and Ann & Regina McCrary of Nashville’s beloved gospel trio, The McCrary Sisters, as well as longtime collaborators like drummers Daru Jones (Nas, Talib Kweli) and Carla Azar (Autolux, Depeche Mode, Doyle Bramhall II). Singer-songwriter C.W. Stoneking also appears, contributing a stirring spoken word performance to the album’s “Abulia and Akrasia.”
BOARDING HOUSE REACH was produced by Jack White III and recorded at Third Man Studio in Nashville, TN, Sear Sound in New York, NY, and Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, CA; the album was mixed by Bill Skibbe, Joshua V. Smith, and White at Third Man Studio in Nashville, TN.
BOARDING HOUSE REACH is heralded by the rapidly acclaimed new single, “Connected By Love”, b/w “Respect Commander,” which is available now digitally worldwide and as a physical 7-inch vinyl single pressed at Third Man Pressing in Detroit, MI. In addition, a limited edition tri-color 7-inch single will be on sale for one day only, Saturday, January 13th, exclusively at Third Man Records brick & mortar stores in Nashville and Detroit.
“Connected By Love” is accompanied by a brand-new music video from director Pasqual Gutierrez – watch it now HERE. The single was greeted with rapturous global applause upon its arrival on Wednesday, with Billboard declaring the song “a classic White confessional blues burner,” and Entertainment Weekly calling it “a searing, organ-lined plea to a former flame.” NPR‘s Bob Boilen wrote, “it’s a blend of old guitar blues that is simultaneously on the edge of rock’s horizon.” “The four-year wait is over,” says Rolling Stone Jack is back with the “blistering first single” from BOARDING HOUSE REACH.
Additionally, White & Third Man Records have revealed a special BOARDING HOUSE REACH-themed Vault Package #35 which will be the ONLY limited edition of the new album, with subscriptions open today through January 31. The new package is highlighted by a limited edition, colored vinyl version of BOARDING HOUSE REACH that will be the only vinyl variation of the LP to be made available. Pressed at Third Man Pressing in the Cass Corridor of Detroit, the 180-gram, blue and black swirl vinyl edition features exclusive Vault-only cover art which dramatically depicts White’s stylized face and is printed on arresting holographic foil paper in the classic Stoughton tip-on style. The LP is further accompanied by a unique-to-this-package 12″ x 24″ insert featuring the complete album lyrics.
The BOARDING HOUSE REACH Vault package also includes a two-song demo 7-inch single, offering up embryonic versions of “Connected By Love” and the album track, “Why Walk a Dog?” The former take – billed here under its original title, “Infected By Love” – was recorded entirely by White in the aforementioned Nashville apartment. White found keyboard tones on this recording that the world’s most seasoned session musicians could not recreate in the studio and thus, some of those tones were sourced from this simple demo to be utilized on the final album version. Meanwhile, “Why Walk a Dog?” was recorded, like much of the BOARDING HOUSE REACH demos, alone at his private songwriting refuge. With its expressive synth and drum machine cadence, the track is overtly hypnotic even in this early state. Indeed, the “Connected By Love” and “Why Walk a Dog?” single provides a fascinating insight into White’s process, revealing the creative progression of his songs from inception to completion.
In addition to the recorded material, Vault Package #35 comes with three separate and exclusive photographs shot during BOARDING HOUSE REACH recording sessions. Taken by noted photographer — and White’s longtime friend — David Swanson at Sear Sound in New York and Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, these large-format, high quality glossy reproductions are exclusive to the Vault. The photographs will be coupled with three foil-stamped poetry broadsides, printed on silky metallic papers (black, white, and blue) containing White’s poems from the new album tracks, “Abulia and Akrasia,” “Ezmerelda Steals the Show,” and “Get in the Mind Shaft.”
BOARDING HOUSE REACH Vault Package #35 will also include, for the third year running, a custom 2018 Third Man Records challenge coin, complete with album-specific artwork. The substantial and stylish coin doubles as a 45 adaptor and grants its holder 10% off purchases in both Third Man Records storefronts. Past Third Man Challenge coins will no longer be valid at Third Man storefronts once Vault Package #35 ships.
Third Man Vault subscriptions are open now through January 31. All BOARDING HOUSE REACH Vault packages will ship to arrive on and as close to the album’s official March 23 street date. Learn more about this package, additional Vault benefits and subscribe now at Third Man Records HERE.
White will celebrate BOARDING HOUSE REACH with a number of just-announced headline festival performances, including Atlanta, GA’s Shaky Knees Music Festival (May 4-6), Boston Calling (May 25-27), and the Governor’s Ball Music Festival in New York (June 1-3). Additional dates will be unveiled soon and every online ticket purchased for North American headline shows will include a physical copy of BOARDING HOUSE REACH on CD with the option to upgrade to the standard black vinyl single LP. For updates and tickets, please visit jackwhiteiii.com/tour-dates.

ROBINSONS, IRON MAIDEN and HELP FOR HEROES join forces to launch LIGHT BRIGADE, a unique golden English ale, in the U.K.

British rock legends IRON MAIDEN and independent family brewers ROBINSONS announce the creation of LIGHT BRIGADE, a unique golden English ale with a 4.1% ABV. Available in the U.K., LIGHT BRIGADE has been developed in support of HELP FOR HEROES, the British charity that provides recovery and support for the Armed Forces community whose lives are affected by their service. 6p of each pint and 5p of each bottle sold will be donated to help the thousands of Servicemen and women who live with complex wounds and injuries – both physical and mental – and are looking to regain their purpose in life.

HELP FOR HEROES met with ROBINSONS in the summer of 2017 to explore the possibility of launching a beer. ROBINSONS and IRON MAIDEN, who jointly launched TROOPER Beer almost five years ago and which has now sold over 20 million pints worldwide, were immediately enthusiastic about the idea. Indeed, the origin of TROOPER’s name, which comes from the classic IRON MAIDEN song, ‘The Trooper’, based on the Battle of Balaclava of 1854 in the Crimean War, reflects the band’s well-known interest in history.

As ever with the TROOPER range of beers, ROBINSONS’ Head Brewer, MARTYN WEEKS, and IRON MAIDEN lead vocalist and ale aficionado, BRUCE DICKINSON, teamed up to create the new and original beer, with the final tasting and approval taking place at HELP FOR HEROES’ Tedworth House Recovery Centre in Wiltshire, last Autumn.

BRUCE DICKINSON said: “We are very proud to have been asked to get involved. I have been an instructor on several of British Airways’ flight simulator ‘Flying Heroes’ days for HELP FOR HEROES Veterans, so I know the charity and the work that they do well. LIGHT BRIGADE is our interpretation of a golden ale that maintains the elements of strength and character that are the essence of TROOPER but at a more sessionable level. In fact, the two beers complement each other very well.”

BETH MILES, Director of Marketing and Fundraising at HELP FOR HEROES: “We are thrilled that BRUCE DICKINSON has developed a new beer for us under the TROOPER brand with ROBINSONS. We are sure that LIGHT BRIGADE will have a very popular appeal and raise significant funds, enabling HELP FOR HEROES to empower more Veterans to reach their potential and regain their purpose. This is the beginning of a partnership which we hope will see TROOPER fans and ROBINSONS customers join The Force for Good campaign to support the thousands whose lives have been affected by their service.”

MARTYN WEEKS commented: “Bruce and I were recently invited to visit HELP FOR HEROES in Wiltshire, where we had a tour of the incredible recovery facilities there and met some of the Veterans.  We were both hugely impressed with the work they are doing and launching a new beer in support of this Charity is, we believe, a great way to raise money and awareness for this very worthy cause. ROBINSONS will also be supporting the Charity through fundraising in our pub estate.”

LIGHT BRIGADE is designed as a session ale for beer and music fans everywhere. It will also be produced on a long-term basis, differentiating it from the other limited edition TROOPER beers: 666, Red ‘N Black, and Hallowed. In keeping with the Trooper brand, LIGHT BRIGADE’s original bottle label features IRON MAIDEN’s iconic mascot EDDIE on horseback in one of the uniforms of the LIGHT BRIGADE.

LIGHT BRIGADE is available to pre-order online now at www.robinsonsbrewery.com for delivery from February 1st. It will be stocked in supermarkets nationwide and selected pubs from February 19th onwards.

The Brothers Reed – Pittsburgh performance @BlackForgeCoffee

The sibling acoustic duo from Southern Oregon, The Brothers Reed, are on a two-month national tour promoting their brand new album “Three” set to release on Jan.6th. They are performing at Black Forge Coffee House in Pittsburgh on February 15th.

“Their melodies make their music exceptional” – Natalie Johnson (music editor for Sneak Preview)

“…intoxicating sound a light in the darkness of the song craft” – Josh Gross (album review in Rogue Valley Messenger)

Despite their brotherhood, Aaron and Phil Reed didn’t start playing music together until two years ago after Phil left their hometown of St. Charles, Missouri to join Aaron in the unsullied mountains of the American Northwest. The brothers family blend of folk encapsulates the grit and humor of Midwest life with the swagger and serenity of the west coast. Their style evokes finger picking folk singers of the 60’s and 70’s with a contemporary and boundless edge. Cultivated from years of performing in bands ranging from heavy metal to reggae and rock, to punk, country, and funk, their musical dichotomy is at the root of their diverse yet seamless folk-brand.

With their comedic brotherly banter, impeccable harmonic expression, and widely varying influences, a Brothers Reed performance will have you reflecting on lost lives and lovers, laughing hysterically and leaving completely entertained.

Touring as a guitar-duo, the group incorporates harmonica, percussion and keys into their live performances, soothing your soul with songs that are familiar yet original.   Whether they are finger picking their way through a lamentable ballad or bringing you around full-speed with a barn-burning bluegrass number, The Brothers Reed are masters of their craft.

Winners of 2014’s “Road to Nashville,” competition as well as finalists and crowd favorites of Britt Festivals 2015 “Rising Stars Contest,” the Brothers Reed have quickly risen to regional renown and now tour extensively throughout the U.S. Their sophomore full length, Monster In My Head (released March 2016), is a power-punch follow up to 2015’s critically acclaimed debut, Sick As Folk. Moving away from the stripped down approach of Sick As Folk, Monster In My Head combines full band instrumentation with the finest elements of folk, rock, R&B, country and reggae, to create a record that at 17 tracks is an ambitious yet fluid piece of work. The album also marks the group’s first effort at collaboration and features several guest artists including Jeff Pevar (Crosby, Stills and Nash; Ray Charles; Jazz is Dead), T.J. Eilers (Synrgy, Buckle Rash, The Illies) and Ambur Rose (Roses and Whiskey).

All aspects of the brand including management, website design, graphics, and album production (engineering, recording and mixing) is done completely by The Brothers.

The Accidentals @MrSmalls Theatre Pittsburgh

As part of their 2018 tour, The Accidentals will be performing with Keller Williams at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale on January 13th in celebration of their new record ‘Odyssey’.

NPR says the group carries “poetic ambiguity” and “idealistic undertones” through evocative lyrics, but to really get a feel of their energy check out their Yellow Couch Session here.

biography

With ODYSSEY, their extraordinary Sony Masterworks debut album, The Accidentals affirm their place among contemporary music’s most original and adventurous new bands. Multi-instrumentalists Sav Buist and Katie Larson – joined on stage and in the studio by drummer Michael Dause – have crafted a genre all their own, fueled by their uniquely limitless approach to musicality and songcraft. As its title suggests, ODYSSEY is built upon the foundation of real life experience through adversity and finding strength in vulnerability, their five-year journey having brought them to this cusp moment. Lyrically powerful songs like “Earthbound” and the potent title track see the band embracing their choice to lead an unconventional life with all its many surprising twists and turns.

Named among Yahoo Music’s “Top 10 Bands to Watch in 2017,” The Accidentals’ adventure began in their hometown of Traverse City, MI, when Larson, a sophomore cellist, and Buist, a junior violinist, were paired for a high school orchestra event. The gifted young musicians became fast friends and before long, bandmates. Having both grown up in musical families with professional pianists for fathers and vocalists for mothers, their shared influences bounced between classical, jazz, bluegrass, country, alt-rock, and the obscure.

Dubbing themselves after the musical notes that fall outside of a key signature, The Accidentals recorded and released a pair of independent albums in 2012 and 2013, the latter funded by a hugely successful Kickstarter. Their original songs revealed a band with wide-ranging influences but always true to their orchestral roots. National applause and attention followed, as did acclaimed collaborations with some fellow local artists and independent filmmakers. Other career highlights included scoring arrangements for a 75-piece orchestra to accompany them on their original songs as well as arranging pieces for an opera/dance production with Jennifer and Ryan Lott (Son Lux).

The past five years have seen The Accidentals perform over a thousand live shows, including headline dates, festival sets, and shared stages along such like-minded acts as Martin Sexton, Brandi Carlile, Andrew Bird, The Wailers, Joan Baez and others. 2015 saw the band embark on their first full-scale national tour, funded in part by an Indiegogo ‘online garage sale”. That year’s SXSW debut saw them hailed by Billboard for “displaying a genre-hopping range of influences and some smart songwriting skills to go with their abundant musical chops.”

Now, at long last, The Accidentals unveil their most compelling and finely honed work to date. Co-produced by Buist, Larson, and Dause with engineer Jason Lehning (Mat Kearney, Guster, George Jones, Alison Krauss) at Asheville, NC’s Echo Mountain Recording, ODYSSEY sees the band joined by such friends and fans as acoustic guitar maestra Kaki King, bassist – and fellow Michigander – Dominic John Davis (Jack White, Beck), Carbon Leaf guitarist Carter Gravatt, Keller Williams and The Decemberists’ Jenny Conlee, who spent three days in the studio alongside the band, lending her distinctive organ to a number of the album’s key tracks.

“It was a really collaborative process,” says Larson. “A lot of these songs had been hashed out at our live shows over the past few years, so we had a very strong idea of what we wanted in the arrangements. Jason helped us get outside the box with recording techniques, putting a fresh spin on the songs.”

“I’m so glad we’ve been able to collaborate with musicians who are so receptive to working and playing together,” Buist says. “They added their own artistry to some of the older songs, and it gave them new life.”

The Accidentals’ inviting spirit of shared creativity is perhaps best represented by the album’s audacious first single, “KW,” showcasing the inimitable guitar work of Keller Williams, whose own virtuosic genre-agnostic approach towards music making inspired the song in the first place.

“We were really lucky to tour with Keller,” Buist says. “We got to know him pretty well. He’s an amazing, genuine human and musician. He’s constantly defying genres, crossing lines, and creating collaborative projects. I wanted to capture some of that spirit in a song, so I wrote ‘KW.’ Keller caught wind of it at a show and played the song live with us. Later we added strings to his album and he offered to lay down guitar tracks. The dream came true – we ended up with a song that has a lot of his style and energy. We love that guy.”

From the orchestrated rock of “Memorial Day” to the album-closing “Ballad Tendered Gun” – surprisingly, The Accidentals’ first instrumental to be included on an LP – ODYSSEY is a strikingly dynamic work, both layered and unhurried, bittersweet yet lifeaffirming. Rich with literary references, whispers of nostalgia, and an unstoppable sense of forward motion, its songs were written independently by Buist and Larson and then arranged and refined by the group, creating a perfect yin/yang between individual introspection and dynamic cooperation, each artist bringing her own unique perspective to the process.

“We rely on each other to create a balance,” Buist says. “I think that’s the key to this band. Our styles of songwriting and arrangement are very different, so when they come together, they create this variation that couldn’t happen any other way.”

Multi-talented guitarist/keyboardist Jake Allen will join The Accidentals on stage as a special guest, filling in some of the colors and textures of ODYSSEY in live performances. The goal as ever is to experiment and experience, exploring new ideas and approaches while always staying true to their roots. With ODYSSEY, The Accidentals have conjured a truly one of its kind sound and vision, booming with free-thinking musicality, wisdom, and an understanding that growth is a process, not something that happens overnight. The Accidentals are already moving forward on their amazing journey, rolling down the windows on an open road towards someplace that’s both true and transcendent.

“I don’t think there are really any limits in terms of genre or instrumentation,” Larson says. “We just really enjoy making music that connects.”

“For us, it’s about the experience and collaboration and trying to learn as much as we can,” Buist says. “We want to be able to walk into any room with confidence in our craft, but in the end, we’re total nerds that just enjoy learning new things. Every day is an opportunity.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield in Pittsburgh on October 14 @ClubCafe

Acclaimed singer songwriter will be in town performing at Club Café on October 14 in support of her new album Sorry Is Gone, out September 29 on ATO Records.

The album was written and recorded following the break up of Jessica’s marriage. She comments, “The whole record is about me taking my life back, without really realizing it. I realized I’m the only person that is going to look out for me. I have to be my main person. No one else. I have to sing about things and write about things that have happened to me as therapy. That’s what connects me to other music I listen to. I want music to make me feel things. This is my inner dialogue, and my chance to get the last word.”

Sorry Is Gone is now streaming in full at NPR Music who says, “she doesn’t hide or hold back—a raw, fierce attitude runs through the confessional stanzas.” Listen to the album here.

“She doesn’t hide or hold back—a raw, fierce attitude runs through the confessional stanzas.” –NPR Music

Jessica Lea Mayfield’s anticipated new album, Sorry Is Gone, is now streaming in full exclusively at NPR Music’s First Listen series. Listen HERE. Of the album, NPR Music’s Tom Moon declares, “She doesn’t hide or hold back—a raw, fierce attitude runs through the confessional stanzas. And there are expressions of anger, too. But Mayfield never lets bitterness become the whole story—she tempers the astringent lyrics of ‘Offa My Hands’ and ‘Wish You Could See Me Now’ with a breezy, beguiling melodic sweetness. There’s a sense of catharsis, but it’s catharsis on pop terms: Sorry Is Gone is the sound of someone who knows exactly how much her baggage weighs, and exactly how much energy it takes to get it out of her way and into the rearview mirror.”

Out next Friday, September 29 on ATO Records, Sorry Is Gone is now available pre-order, which includes instant downloads of three album tracks: “Sorry Is Gone,” “Meadow” and “Offa My Hands.”

Already receiving widespread acclaim, Stereogum recently debuted the official music video for “Meadow” calling it, “…appealing in its blend of melancholy resignation and defiant self-will” (watch HERE.), while NPR Music premiered the video for the title track declaring, “Jessica Lea Mayfield is taking back her life. ‘Sorry Is Gone,’ the title track to her next album, is a song of empowerment that finds the singer moving past a difficult period in her life…Despite the weight of that, the song feels breezy, flowing and freeing” (watch HERE). Moreover, of the album, LENNY asserts, “Sorry Is Gone is clamorous and dynamic, reflective of Mayfield’s rare gift of seeming equally steady and chameleonic from album to album” and goes on to praise, “Mayfield seems primed to enjoy not only another strong album but to harness its moment in the service of others.”

The 11-track record was recorded at Water Music and Electric Lady studios with producer John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Phosphorescent). In addition to Mayfield, the album features a variety of world-renowned musicians including Seth Avett on backing vocals and keys, drummer Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth, Sun Kil Moon), bassist Emil Amos (Grails, Holy Sons) and guitarist Cameron Deyell (Sia, Streets of Laredo.) with additional production from Patrick Damphier (The Mynabirds).

Of the record, Mayfield comments, “The whole record is about me taking my life back, without really realizing it. I realized I’m the only person that is going to look out for me. I have to be my main person. No one else.” She continues, “I have to sing about things and write about things that have happened to me as therapy. That’s what connects me to other music I listen to. I want music to make me feel things. This is my inner dialogue, and my chance to get the last word.”

In support of the release, Mayfield will embark on an extensive tour this fall including shows at NYC’s Baby’s All Right, DC’s Songbyrd, Nashville’s The Basement East and Chicago’s The Empty Bottle among many others. All tickets are now on-sale via https://site.jessicaleamayfield.com/tour. See below for complete details.

Sorry Is Gone is Mayfield’s first solo album since 2014’s Make My Head Sing…, which was released to widespread acclaim. Of the album, Rolling Stone asserted, “…Mayfield’s echo-laden bluegrass vocals mesh with scorching electric guitar lines to render remarkable results,” while Pitchfork praised, “There’s something certainly compelling about this raw, minimalist sound” and NPR’s Fresh Air proclaimed, “The music is heavy, but it soars.” Additionally Interview Magazine declared, “Mayfield sounds like she’s finally arrived” and USA Today affirmed, “Her evolution as an artist has been fascinating to hear.” Most recently, in 2015, Mayfield collaborated with Seth Avett on Seth Avett and Jessica Lea Mayfield Sing Elliott Smith.

Seether will release their new album Poison the Parish on May 12. The band will be touring extensively in support of the album, which features the riffy and tense smash “Let You Down.”

Guitarist Clint Lowery will augment the band’s line-up throughout the upcoming trek, adding his signature axe-work to Seether’s new songs and deep repertoire.

“We’ve been working on some upgrades to the production and the live sound, which includes welcoming our brother, Clint Lowery into the fold to help us thicken up that live sound experience,” Seether vocalist/guitarist Shaun Morgan said. “We want this tour to be exciting and different — a departure from what people expect from us, while retaining the qualities that make us unique, in order to entertain the fans. It’s going to be loud, heavy, old school Seether with a couple of twists thrown in to keep things exciting.”

The band will appear at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA on 5/19.

Fanburst: a music sharing platform for artists

The best way to describe Fanburst? Think of Fanburst like a Youtube or Soundcloud –

but just for music.

fanburst-comWhat makes Fanburst ideal for artists? Unlimited uploads and downloads, no limits on anything. Fanburst also has a bunch of other features they are rolling out, and the goal is to help artists make money selling merch, concert tix, and growing their fanbase.  Sounds like a win/win.

Fanburst was built on simple philosophies: They think it’s backwards to charge artists for sharing their music.
Their goal is to help artists share music with their fans and earn a living while doing it.  Albums don’t belong on Mediafire or Zippyshare. The Internet has been an amazing place for singles, mixes, and individual recordings, but albums, EPs, and mixtapes desperately need a home, too.  The Internet doesn’t have borders, so why should music? It’s important to be able to reach all of your fans at once. All countries are equal; geoblocking hurts artists and fans.  Plays are an outdated metric. Modern artists need to be more concerned with retaining and growing their fanbase. Just like a tech company would measure “monthly active users,” we believe artists need to measure their “monthly active fans.”  Sign up here and import your music to get started.

Fanburst has tens of thousands of artists – especially independent artists. It’s a great place to get discovered and get new fans…check it out here to get started.

Amar John, “Paint Dat” 23-year-old Bronx rapper with a nimble flow

unnamed-6Bronx, New York rapper Amar John presents his new single “Paint Dat”, produced by Steven Sharp. Amar says the song is about “finding success in the midst of pressure, adversity, and internal conflicts, while maintaining composure, and motivation to persevere. It also explains how the average person in this position, with trust issues, finds balance for these negatives by focusing on things on the opposite polarity, such as drugs, jewelry, and women.” Lexibanks produced Amar’s last single “Angels & Demons” (Soundcloud).

SANCTUARY – announce “Inception” album details and launch trailer

Century Media Records and legendary US metal act SANCTUARY have set February 24th, 2017 as the release date of Inception, the official prequel to 1988’s classic debut “Refuge Denied”.
unnamedInception contains presumed lost 1986 studio recordings, which guitarist Lenny Rutledge discovered recently and which were magically restored, remixed and remastered by Zeuss (Queensrÿche, Hatebreed). You can watch the first video trailer here.
Guitarist Lenny Rutledge comments: “I found the masters in my barn. The second floor of the barn is on top of our current recording studio and is very rough and open to the elements. The ground level is where we recorded the bulk of ‘The Year The Sun Died’. We found the masters in an unknown box in the barn, full of water and just wasting away.
Zeuss explains further how the Inception album was realized: “I got a call one day and Lenny said that he had discovered these tapes and had them transferred to digital. I was in the area and stopped over to check it out. The recordings were still in decent shape. We agreed that we wanted it to sound as good as possible without taking away from the original vibe and vision of what the band had back then. After a year of mixing on and off we were able to resurrect these original demos. I hope everyone enjoys these recordings as much as I did working on them especially being a huge fan myself.
Recorded in March of 1986 (“Soldiers Of Steel”, “Battle Angels”) at Triad Studios in Redmond, Washington and Studio One in White Center between April and July 1986, Inception offers such previously unreleased highlights as “Dream of The Incubus” and “I Am Insane” as well as several classic Refuge Denied songs that are burning with fervour and intensity.
Apart from being expanded by art courtesy of Ed Repka, Inception is filled to the brim with tons of rare photos, flyers, early art designs, sketches plus detailed liner notes allowing you to delve deep into SANCTUARY’s history.
Inception will be released as Gatefold LP on 180 gram black and limited colored vinyl, includes an extensive LP-size booklet, poster, and the album on CD as additional extra. Apart from that it will be available as Special Edition CD Digipak and digital album.
Lenny concludes: “For me personally, I just wanted fans to be able to hear proper versions of the demos. They had a certain energy that was captured during the early days, maybe even more so than “Refuge Denied”. It’s no secret that you can find these on the internet but the quality is horrible. I think most people are under the impression that these are remastered or re-recorded versions of Refuge…”, but this is all a prequel!
With several European festivals already booked for next year, a new album in the works, Inception being released, 2017 shall be the year when past and future of SANCTUARY unite. Look forward to the next assault of the soldiers of steel!

QUEENSRYCHE Release New Music Video for “Hellfire”

On ‘Condition Human’ Headlining Tour In North America

Seattle based heavy metal icons QUEENSRYCHE are nearing the end of their ‘Condition Human’ world tour, which has now brought them back to North America on Fall a headlining run. Continuing to build on the momentum of their latest studio album, the band has released a visceral new music video for their song “Hellfire”, which spotlights the Malaysian passenger flight crisis in 2014. Speaking about the influence and subject matter for the new video, vocalist Todd La Torre states,

“‘Hellfire’ is a depiction primarily based on the tragic events surrounding the Malaysian airline flight MH17. Despite the storyline’s foundation, the lyrical and visual narrative transcends into other pertinent, global subject matters. Civil unrest, guerrilla warfare, media propaganda, and social inequalities are just some examples of the multifaceted issues marbled throughout ‘Hellfire’. A poignant illustration of an unfortunate yet timeless reality.”

M83 Announces Collaboration with Cirque du Soleil

Montreal, December 5, 2016 – As tickets go on sale to the public today, Cirque du Soleil is thrilled to announce that international artist M83 is the composer and musical director of Cirque du Soleil VOLTATM, its new production presented by Sun Life Global Investments for next spring. After record-breaking sales in Montreal this year, the show will be presented under the Big Top in the Old Port starting April 20, 2017.

Anthony Gonzalez, the sonic author behind the sublime sound of M83 is known for his epic space-age future pop. In 2011, the Grammy-nominated album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming revealed M83 to mainstream audiences with the hit single “Midnight City.”

“We have been following the work of M83 for many years and have always been convinced of the incredible potential of integrating his music to a Cirque du Soleil production,” says director of creation Jean Guibert.  “VOLTA is a contemporary show brimming with energy, but it is also deeply human and theatrical. We were seduced by Anthony’s ability to create melodies that are both epic and poetic and transcend the heart and soul. We are honored that he agreed to lend his talent to this project,” explains writer and director Bastien Alexandre.

About his collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, Gonzalez says: “When Jean and Bastien first approached me, I was immediately excited about the idea of working with Cirque du Soleil. Not just because they are a company known throughout the world, but also because I was deeply attracted by the story of VOLTA, and the spirit that underpins the show. The story of VOLTA is ours. It is a tale of a generation who is calling for change and I was very keen to contribute to telling this story. I’m deeply honored to be part of the Cirque team and it’s a wonderful new challenge in unknown territory for me. Ultimately, it’s challenges like this that I find so inspiring and drive me to make the music that I do.”

VOLTA tells a spellbinding story about the freedom to choose and the thrill of blazing your own trail. Inspired in part by the adventurous spirit that fuels the culture of action sports, the show weaves the adrenaline rush of acrobatics into a visually striking world driven by a stirring melodic score.

VOLTA will be presented under the Big Top in Montreal’s Old Port starting April 20, 2017. Tickets can be purchased for these performances online starting today at www.cirquedusoleil.com/volta

Dj Ashba of Sixx:A.M. Teams Up with Dean Markley

Dj Ashba of Sixx:A.M. Teams Up with Dean Markley

“To be a true guitarist isn’t about anything except the art of playing guitar.” — Dj Ashba

Dean Markley USA announces the addition of guitarist Dj Ashba to their artist roster along with the Dj Ashba Artist Series of strings. Ashba joins many musicians who proudly play Dean Markley strings.

The Dj Ashba Artist Series is a custom set of gauges that feature .010, .013, .017, .028, .038, and .048 from the longtime favorite, Dean Markley Signature Series of nickel plated strings.

unnamedDj Ashba is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and graphic designer. He grew up in Fairbury, Illinois, where he worked in the cornfields to earn enough money to buy his first guitar. Influenced by Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen, he practiced tirelessly, sometimes 17 hours a day. By the time he moved to Los Angeles at 18, he was proficient enough to become an in-demand session and touring guitarist. He released a well-received solo album, Addiction to the Friction, composed music for film scores, and in 2007 partnered with Nikki Sixx and James Michael to form Sixx:A.M. From 2009 to 2015, Ashba also played lead guitar in Guns N’ Roses. As a co-producer and songwriter, he has worked with a diverse list of talent ranging from Motley Crue to Neil Diamond. Most recently, Dj scored the title song to Eli Roth’s 2015 hit movie The Green Inferno. Dj has been featured on hit TV shows such as History Channel’s Counting Cars and Animal Planet’s Tanked. This Fall, see Dj Ashba touring arenas with Sixx:A.M. to bring the band’s two 2016 releases, Volume 1, Prayers For The Damned and Volume 2, Prayers For The Blessed live to fans across North America.

“Being a guitarist means being true to what you do,” says Dj Ashba. “Guitar is an art, and it takes a lot of years and dedication. It’s not an overnight thing. It’s a super-long road, and you’re going to hit the ground, but at the end of the day, what makes you a true guitarist is honing in on a unique style and never giving up.”

GRIDFAILURE Issues “Digital Crush” At Metal Riot; Further Layers Of Societal Collapse EP Nears Free Samhain Release

unnamed-5Hostile alchemist GRIDFAILURE has completed the Further Layers Of Societal Collapse EP impending its free digital distribution on Samhain 2016, leaking new track “Digital Crush” through Metal Riot.
GRIDFAILURE is the auditory harvest of David Brenner (Earsplit, ex-Theologian, ex-Heidnik), who abuses dozens of instruments, brewing a haunted apocalypse aura. The outfit’s Ensuring The Bloodline Ends Here debutwas released in May via The Compound Recs. With a second album, Teeth Collection, nearing completion, Further Layers Of Societal Collapse provides some insight of the bizarre directions the unit’s output is taking. The use of field recordings infusing elements of nature and civilization into the mix carries into the new material, which infuses more percussive elements and guitars than the debut. Contributions from cohorts BJ Allen (Full Scale Riot) and Pete Tsakiris reflect the first GRIDFAILURE collaborations to see release, a trait that lies heavily in the upcoming releases.
GRIDFAILURE‘s Further Layers Of Societal Collapse delivers nearly a half-hour of unharnessed dementia, infiltrating additional realms of biomechanical madness, meshing ghostly and fractured elements of dark ambient, power electronics, and industrial metal with the confrontational wrath of tectonic hardcore on a rudderless course where anything goes.
This confrontational dementia is depicted in “Digital Crush,” playing at Metal Riot RIGHT HERE.

Hear the EP’s “Woodlands Of Self-Impalement” via Loudwire HERE, and the GRIDFAILURE-infused anti-Trump “Demagogue” by Walking Bombs, mastered by Tad Doyle, at Blow The Scene HERE.
GRIDFAILURE will offer Further Layers Of Societal Collapse as a free download on October 31stthrough Bandcamp, Soundcloud, and more, with a limited cassette version to follow in November; find your Walkman ASAP.
Orders for GRIDFAILURE‘s Ensuring The Bloodline Ends Here eco-wallet CD receive free paraphernalia HERE; digitally the album can be found at Bandcamp, Amazon, iTunes, and most others.
Also join the macabre lounge/fight act for the end of everything on GRIDFAILURE‘s upcoming Teeth Collection album, split with Never Presence Forever, and multiple other upcoming splits, EPs, and collaborations, all likely to see release by the end of the year.

BIO:

Isn’t it funny when you have enough distance to look back and realize there was one accidental meeting, one look exchanged, one conversation shared which set in motion a chain of events that changed your life forever? It’s hardly a revelatory sentence—after all, whole films, artworks and albums have crystallized these kinds of coincidences and their knock-on effects. Transviolet’s forthcoming full length is not one of those records, but the sequence of events that brought them to the point of a) creating a collection of songs together and b) for those songs to then be released, can be attributed to talent and chemistry, sure, but some divine happenstance too.

For instance, several years ago Transviolet singer Sarah McTaggart’s mom was seated next to a celebrity hairdresser on a flight. The pair got talking and being the proud parent, Sarah’s mom ended up bending his ear about her daughter’s band. When she hopped off the flight she insisted Sarah reach out to him via Twitter. “I was like, stop bothering this poor man, he was nice enough to talk to you on the plane, I don’t think he really wants to hear our music!” Sarah laughs. “But she kept asking until I finally sent him some of our stuff.” And you can bet he liked what he heard—so much so in fact, that when dining with a record exec friend later that week, said hairdresser mentioned Transviolet. After one listen the exec was hooked, insisting that they speak with Sarah that very night.

“They called me at 10.30 PM and I was in my PJs and I thought someone was pranking me because the guy on the other line was like, ‘We want to sign you, we want to do a showcase,” she recalls, still somewhat incredulous. “I got off the phone stunned. It was super freaking crazy: they called that night and we were signed and moving to LA a month later.” All because someone chose an aisle seat (probably).

But this wasn’t the only moment that a twist of chance altered the course their path: their origin story is equally serendipitous. Thanks to her father’s job as an entrepreneur, Sarah’s family lead a nomadic existence. She spent her childhood bouncing from place to place before settling in Grand Cayman, where her father’s family hailed from originally. A Caribbean island surrounded by crystal cerulean water sounds like paradise, but removed from her friends and the “normal” high school existence, Sarah felt isolated. Although she arrived late to artists like The Beatles, Nirvana, Bob Dylan and Radiohead—“those timeless songwriters whose music really seems to transcend time and space”—it was at this point in her life that these artists really resonated.

“I clung to that kind of music because I moved around a lot as a kid and didn’t really fit in or I got sick of trying to fit in,” she explains. “So I’d escape by listening to songs like ‘Across the Universe’ or ‘Lithium’ or ‘Creep’—these artists, they get me. I became obsessed with lyrics and songwriting and that’s when I knew it was what I wanted to do.”

It was around this time that Sarah picked up the guitar. She cut her teeth playing open mic nights on the island, eventually uploading her material to a site designed to bring musicians together. And here’s where the other random split second decision triggered a crucial set of events: instead of listing her whereabouts as the Caymans, Sarah wrote San Diego on her profile. She’d set her sights on the SoCal city and it turned out to be something of self-fulfilling prophecy because when multi-instrumentalist Michael Panek logged on to search for a female vocalist, he narrowed his search to his area in—you guessed it—San Diego. A sucker for “90s jams” there was something in Sarah’s songs that appealed to this leaning. “Her lyrical style reminded me of Death Cab For Cutie,” explains the Rochester, NY native. But more than that it was her innate sense of melody that reeled him in.

“There’s a lot of good singers out there who can write crappy lyrics and get by,” he explains. “But there was something about her that had substance, it was a real visceral connection.” Despite the fact that Sarah immediately admitted she wasn’t based in San Diego, the pair quickly forged a musical partnership: Michael would email his music and Sarah would apply her words and melodies. She introduced him to Alt-J; he played her Sigur Ros. This was at the top of 2011 and by the end of it she’d uprooted her life and moved to San Diego. Was it a shock to meet each other in person for the first time after the intimacy of long distance songwriting?

“Luckily in those emails we were both pretty honest about who we were,” says Michael. “She was exactly who I thought she was going to be—except she was a lot shorter. I think the first thing I said to her when I hugged her was like, ‘Oh you’re so small!’”

It wasn’t long after the airplane-Twitter-phone call exchange that the duo upped sticks and moved to LA. Once there, Transviolet truly solidified thanks to the addition of Michael’s high school buddies and former bandmates, drummer Jonathan Garcia and guitarist Judah McCarthy. What followed was an incredibly fertile period: they signed to Epic and penned some 60-odd songs which were eventually whittled to a svelte debut album scheduled to drop next year.

But it was the quartet’s first song, which they popped online in the summer of 2015, that announced Transviolet’s arrival and really whet appetites for more. “Girls Your Age” is a bewitching slip of a song with Sarah’s voice at once recalling the Lana, Lorde and Imogen Heap: sultry, measured, assured. The song gained instant online traction. People clicked play and clicked play again. Katy Perry praised the lyrics, Harry Styles tweeted his support, Ellie Goulding selected it for a spin on Beats1 and Twin Shadow delivered an exclusive remix. “Girls Your Age” soon became a bonafide viral sensation with over a million plays on Spotify alone. Unflinchingly personal, it was also an apt introduction to the band. “It was my coming of age story, I wanted to put something out there that was raw, it wasn’t trying to be anything, it was just a true account of how I felt growing up and the turmoil that surrounded that,” states Sarah. “You’re trying to figure out who you are and at the same time the world is telling you feel this and be that and want this and you’re caught in the crossfire.”

Their four song eponymous EP (released this past September) further underscores what’s in store. “Bloodstream” is a straight up toxic love tune, while “Night Vision” expresses the flip of this. Elsewhere “New Bohemia” is unabashedly anthemic, but the lyrics are anything but throwaway. “I feel like every individual has the power to change the world, we decide on a daily basis what our world looks like and every decision we make effects our reality,” explains Sarah of the song’s message. “I wanted to write a song that inspired people to speak up and take action and to take responsibility for our generation and take a stand for something that you believe in.”

“For all of us it’s more than just the music,” Michael concurs. “We think it’s important to spread positive messages and have a nice effect on the world around us.” While Michael describes Sarah and him as yin and yang—her lyrics and melodies, his beats and arrangements—the addition of Jon and Judah should also not be underestimated. Sarah credits them as being essential to the development of their sound, which they’re now honing live on their first ever tour (they made their stage debut back in September 2015). The foursome are a tight unit and it works. “There are no divas, we all look at each other as equals and there’s no such thing as stupid ideas,” affirms Sarah. “I think that safety is what allows us to feel so free in the writing process because no matter what, the other three people are always going to back you up. Those stupid ideas are what sometimes lead to the brilliant ideas.”

Fate may have leant a helping hand, but Transviolet don’t need luck to take this to the next level.

REVIEW and EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: FRZY -GOD KING SLAVE

Pittsburgh has become known as somewhat of a “farm league” city for future rap superstars.  Mac Miller and Whiz are just a few of the talents to come out of the Steel City.  The new release by Pittsburgh’s very own FRZY will not only put him in the same category of superstar but quite possibly take the next level of a megastar.  God King Slave is one of the most versatile records to be released in the genre in a very long time.  Now that FRZY is beyond the mixtape game and in the big leagues, he is coming out swinging.

Listening to God King Slave is analogous to entering an amusement park.  There are so many rides, such varying smells, a vast array of visual candy that the senses become bombarded to create memories that become attached to one’s soul.  FRZY takes you on so many twists, turns, and thrills that listening to all the variations and styles can leave one a bit disoriented, but in a good way, the kind you are willing to pay for.  Speaking with the artist reveals just where the influence comes from, simply FRZY’s personality.  The young man who gained notoriety by destroying all competition in local battles, only to crush it in New York City, went on to join huge tours such as Nelly’s Lunatics Tour and perform with artists from Rick Ross to Lil’ Wayne.  But there is more to him than just his rap game, FRZY is very well spoken and highly intelligent, something that comes out when he raps and speaks in front of large crowds.  He has gained a ton of marketing deals, including becoming the spokesperson for the Subway Melt.  Considering his quick wit, sincere charm, and undeniable charisma what Pittsburgh has had and now what the world will have is a mogul on their hands and in their ears.  He already has his own Pandora channel, Yahoo channel, and Vevo channel.  He’s done modeling, acting, and has shown he is a true songwriting talent, proving he is more than an MC.

God King Slave starts off with “Ruins” featuring Morgan Erina who is an alternative folk singer-songwriter.  The music is produced by actual musicians, not computer samples, and that alone makes all the tracks impressive, but Erina’s voice combined with the excellent instrumentation and FRZY’s flow makes for a captivating entry.  As much about his rise as his need to do more, FRZY is in a way presenting a warning to others that he is coming, this is his time. “I’m here for the glory Tho the battle is gory Just know that a high rise, gone come wit some stories,” is a gorgeous line summing up his honesty and his work ethic.  It is a fitting introduction to a 24 track “double album” that plays like a Sirens call, dangerous yet irresistible.

The thematics within God King Slave can be seen within the titles, though this is not a concept album.  But the biblical and societal metaphors abound throughout the piece.  For instance, “Baptize (featuring Jess Abran)”  which plays with the symbolism of water, “Cleanse me of my soul And let the water make me whole “Cause in the water I’m fine”.  “Crucifixtation”, “God Willing”, and “Judas” are just a few of the titles with the obvious reference, but it is the mixture of FRZY’s relationship with the words God, King, Slave that presents the tie in with all the beats.  The upbeat “Babylon” calls out his competition in a display of wordplay, “They be babbling on when they babble on They song come up short I tell em’ get along…Biblically This New Testament to me Make y’all niggas plea double jeopardy.”  The double entendres fit perfectly, not forced, even when FRZY is just spouting out bars.

Do not confuse the record as “preachy” with the thematic, though.  FRZY never goes that route, plus he has a lot more in mind such as “Live Dat” which is a sound profession of his passion for the desire to be at the top of the game, “I then been the same little nigga wit the nice flow Like they give a fuck A lot of big rappers out here I’m a out grow”, professing his bravado lyrically and backing it up.  “Oujia” is a furious flurry of wordsmithing that uses acronyms like Shakespearean sonnets and is unlike anything that the rap world has heard before.  FRZY’s ability to make associations, phrases, and bars is by far one of thee best.  It is performances like this song that highlight just some of his abilities that he has teased us with before, such as what he did on “WTF”.

GKS Promo 1Going deeper into God King Slave, FRZY has some super deep violin driving the song “Whips and Chainz” which makes this a highly unique chill hip hop production that employs metaphors that run deeper than the obvious basis of the “slave” theme.  Riffing on how we all have our whips and chains in life as well as the time-honored boasting aspect of the genre, FRZY manages to touch on some serious subjects while injecting humor, and highlighting his Pittsburgh ties, “I’m a Pittsburgh boy so don’t talk when the Bucs on I’m a Pittsburgh Boy only one to blow without chucks on My name got a ring now and I ain’t even put a tux on Calling me king is a nice fit that I ain’t never have to try on.” Other pieces like “Shame” build on his rep and “Bounce” plays with the genre’s way of showing male prowess.  FRZY also shows his ability to weave a tale lyrically on songs such as “Pretty Baby”, “Body smokin’
legs spreading like cancer Pay her enough no need to romance her But even with enough still J-Lo was a dancer.”

With 24 tracks FRZY provides a history lesson in the various rap styles, showing he has studied, practiced, and mastered all of them.  For this writer, who typically is not a rap listener or consumer, FRZY has provided an art piece and a megalith of a debut that keeps rapt attention, feet moving head bobbing, and easy justification to lay that card down and purchase the goods.  When the album hits shelves and the net at the end of September, FRZY will be finalizing some big appearances including late night TV and prime time daytime.  It’s time to watch the man who has been turning heads become the king of the kingdom.

SUPERJOINT Premieres New Track At Revolver Magazine

unnamed-5SUPERJOINT was resurrected in 2015 after the original band broke up a decade earlier. At the behest of the late Corey Mitchell, co-founder of The Housecore Horror Film Festival, SUPERJOINT founders Philip H. Anselmo (Down, Pantera, Scour, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Arson Anthem et al), Jimmy Bower (Down, Eyehategod), and Kevin Bond (Christ Inversion, Artimus Pyledriver et al) joined forces with longtime comrades, drummer José “Blue” Gonzalez (Warbeast, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals) and bassist Stephen Taylor (Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Woven Hand, 16 Horse Power). A new era of the band was born.
Mitchell’s idea worked brilliantly, as the band members found true joy in playing together again. After just two tours, new material followed culminating in the scathing sounds of Caught Up In The Gears Of Application. Set for release on November 11th, 2016 via Anselmo’s own Housecore Records,Caught Up In The Gears Of Application was captured at Nodferatu’s Lair and marks the band’s first new output since 2003’s critically-lauded Lethal Dose Of American Hatred. Produced by Anselmo and Stephen Berrigan (Down, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Eyehategod, Haarp, Classhole etc.) and mastered by Scott Hull (Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Pig Destroyer) at Visceral Sounds, Caught Up In The Gears Of Application remains true to SUPERJOINT‘s original strategy: to spew forth an acrimonious crossover of hardcore punk, metal, and unrelenting, hostile, New Orleans-style angst.
“The minute we started writing, I knew this record would be brutal,” reflects Bower, “Sticking to our true hardcore roots and signature SUPERJOINT sound, we accomplished a record that needed to happen in today’s underground. It’s pissed off! After being on hiatus for eleven-plus years, the chance at a new SUPERJOINT record wasn’t something we took lightly. With newcomers Steven and Joey, we were psyched and eager to get in the Lair and start writing and after two tours with the new lineup, we were able to hit the writing hard! Didn’t take long to accomplish, and we stood and smirked at the playback of what would be the new SUPERJOINT record. With songs like ‘Receiving No Answer To The Knock’ and ‘Sociopathic Herd Delusion’ we had everything to smirk about! This record brings our viscous style of hardcore back to life. Pissed off with everything to prove, SUPERJOINT is back!”
Adds Anselmo of the offering, “The overall theme means many things, or no things, but there is an underlying message regardless, about how modern technology — computers and all that comes with them, mainly — has affected our lives. As a musician, it has affected my life both negatively (music being stolen) and positively (being in touch with fellow musicians around the world and staying visible). But when looking at the broader spectrum, computer-land has given everyday people a platform in which to bellow like carnival barkers about anything and everything, humdrum or political, whether qualified or not, some with good intentions, some with disingenuous intentions, and some with ideas that lay somewhere in the middle, creating a mishmash of results.”
As a precursor to the release of Caught Up In The Gears Of Application, today Revolver Magazine offers up the confrontational “Sociopathic Herd Delusion,” for communal ingestion. Issues Anselmo simply, “‘Sociopathic Herd Delusion’ is an absolute SUPERJOINT hook-a-rama done in one-thousand-percent SUPERJOINT form! It’s a state of cerebral address, and thicker than a hundred-year-old deck of collectable boxing cards.”

Dean Zelinsky Guitars New Engraved Paisley Dellatera Guitar With Antiqued Metalized Finish

Chicago, IL August 23, 2016 – World-renowned guitar designer, Dean Zelinsky, announces the release of his Engraved Paisley Dellatera in an Antiqued Nickel finish. Utilizing an exclusive metalizing process, Zelinsky achieves a realistic engraved metal look on a traditional alder wood body. Guitars are only available factory direct through Zelinsky’s ecommerce site, www.deanzelinsky.com.

Marrying the aesthetics of metal with the feel and tonal properties of wood was the maker’s inspiration. “I have been working on perfecting this look for several months,” stated Zelinsky. “Engraved metal guitars currently on the market have a sexy appeal but are extremely expensive. Additionally, they have other less desirable qualities associated with the metal bodies. We have 100% achieved that look ‘in wood’ without the lofty price tag. In a test at a local music store, players looking at my Dellatera side-by-side a metal body guitar were not able to tell the difference.”

The Engraved Paisley Dellatera comes standard with Zelinsky’s patented Z-Glide™ Reduced Friction Neck. Z-Glide™ utilizes a laser-textured design to eliminate that sticky/tacky feel by removing 70% of the neck surface. Z-Glide™ puts a little air between players and their guitar letting hands glide up and down the neck.

Players can custom configure their guitar with the choice of rosewood or maple fingerboards, various hardware packages, pickguards, and pickup options including Zelinsky’s revolutionary SideKick™ Pickup. SideKicks are the first pickups that enable a player to have a true single-coil and vintage humbucker in the same space. Players can switch from single to humbucker and the volumes absolutely match.

Additional features include a rock hard Canadian maple neck, 9.5” – 12” compound radius fingerboard, 20:1 locking tuners, Zelinsky’s Hi-Tail single-coil bridge pickup and Broad-Tone neck single-coil, master volume and tone control with 3-way switch, graphite nut and string retainer. Players can customize and order their Engraved Paisley Dellatera directly from Zelinsky’s website, www.deanzelinsky.com, starting at $1299.

Book Of Shadows II was released on April 8th, 2016 via Entertainment One Music (eOne Music), Zakk Wylde’s first solo release in 20 years. This release is the highly anticipated follow up to 1996’s Book of Shadows LP, a classic album Wylde released between his work with Ozzy Osbourne that has since become a fan favorite. The album debuted at #2 on the Independent Chart, #3 on the Rock Chart and # 6 on the Current Albums Chart, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The fearlessly introspective melancholy and melody of Book of Shadows helped to make its follow-up one of Rolling Stone’s Most Anticipated Albums of 2016. As fierce and diverse as his work in Black Label Society and as large as his accomplishments as lead guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne have been,Book of Shadows II offers an even richer look into the spirit and psyche of one of the most beloved pillars of the hard rock community. Brand new tracks like “Sleeping Dogs,” “Tears of December,” “Darkest Hour,” “Harbors of Pity,” and “The King” are bold proclamations of intense feeling and powerful catharsis.

Zakk Wylde’s powerful pipes, mayhem-inducing charisma, mischievous humor, and instantly recognizable pinch-harmonic driven blues based histrionic guitar shredding have made him the world’s most beloved American Guitar Hero.

“Whether he’s unplugged or fully electric, Wylde’s guitar skills are never in doubt, and that’s definitely the case on Book of Shadows II. Certainly not a party album, it’s one better enjoyed kicking back, mellowing out and letting the emotions wash over you.” LOUDWIRE
