LOCKJAW Returns with Official Music Video for “Silence the Fear”!

Fort Worth, TX based, heavy rock / metal band LOCKJAW has released the tense, official music video for their newest single, “Silence the Fear.” With the video directed by Jeremy Peterson, “Silence the Fear” was produced by Chris Collier, with whom the band is completing their upcoming, as yet unnamed album.

We are extremely grateful to be playing music together and sharing our passion with the world. Heavy music has pushed all of us through our lives, as a soundtrack and we are so honored to share our vision with our fans, families and friends. As we release Silence the Fear we are currently in the studio with Producer, Chris Collier working on our new record, (yet to be titled). In conjunction with our new album announcement, we are excited to share our next single in the fall of 2021 “Living in my Head”, while the first single releases tackle subjects of fear, anxiety and many other symptoms of the world we are challenged with, we are optimistic we as a species will come together as humans and not be defined by the past year of struggle. We love heavy music, the fans of heavy music and are honored to share this with you all! Enjoy the moment, “Silence the Fear” – LOCKJAW

Lockjaw is a band based in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. The group recently came out with a brand new release announcement for their upcoming single: Silence The Fear. This is going to be the first of many tracks, which the group is planning on releasing throughout the year. This particular song feels like a compelling new chapter for the band, highlighting its commitment to creating music that blurs the lines between a wide range of influences. From the depth and energy of alternative rock down the impactful edge of heavy metal, there are no rules. The group has a rather long history, fueled by the friendship of the band members, who got together to form this band while in high school in the late 90s. The music scene was quite different back then, but just like today, Lockjaw was never interested in chasing trends. These talented musicians had the vision to make their own music and truly give it their all. Lockjaw started making music in 1998, and it didn’t take long for the group to be able to record and release a handful of EPs throughout the local scene. The band’s music earned a solid reputation, and Lockjaw soon grew to the ranks of excellent local bands, on stage and in the studio.

The group is on the verge of making their return with some brand new music, as they are gearing up to release some exciting new material. Lockjaw’s most recent studio single is titled “Silence The Fear,” and it is going to be available on August 6th, 2021. On the occasion of this and other recordings, The band hit the studio with famed producer Chris Collier, already well-known for his work with seminal bands such as Korn, as well as Lynch MobProng, and KMX, only to mention a few. Without spoiling anything, let’s just say that these songs depict the band at its best. Instead of releasing a whole record at once, Lockjaw is set to be releasing a handful of singles throughout the years, allowing their releases to seamlessly spread over time and giving the audience a nice constant stream of content. The band’s upcoming music is ultimately a perfect example of the band’s attitude and charismatic approach to songwriting and performance, going for an immediate and earthy sound that favors the human connection between the musicians, rather than hiding their work under an excessive layer of studio trickery. If you are a fan of artists such as MetallicaLamb Of GodAmon AmarthOpethMachineHead, and Slipknot, this one is definitely going to be right up your alley. Production-wise, the band’s new music is just as exciting and crisp as you might expect from such high standards of recording and production. For instance, “Silence The Fear’s” mix is balanced and very detail-oriented, making for a lively, edgy, and stark sonic approach. In other words, there are many subtle nuances in this release, which really add to the richness of the track when summed up together. At first glance, you’ll notice the roaring walls of guitar and the energetic rhythm section, but if you dive deeper, there is a lot more to uncover. The dynamic spectrum of the song is also very balanced, with a tight yet deep low end that really growls, holding it all together while adding some aggressive edge to the sound.

Find out more about Lockjaw, and do not miss out on the band’s upcoming music, which is going to be available throughout the web’s premier digital streaming platforms.

Guest Post From Bored In Pittsburgh-Destroyer Of Light-Falling Star

Austin, TX’s Destroyer Of Light are a group that ties the past to the present, merging the crushing instrumentals of modern day doom with the soaring vocals and guitar solos of classic metal acts like Dio. One look at the dramatic, mythologic artwork for the newly released Mors Aeterna (Argonauta Records), and it’s clear that the members of this band have a real soft spot for the 80’s.

Hell, the riff that kicks off album opener “Falling Star” is downright bluesy, like Stevie Ray Vaughn playing a flaming guitar at the gates of the underworld while the three-headed dog Cerberus prowls behind him. Frontman Steve Colca sounds like a slightly more intelligible Brent Hinds (of Mastodon fame), and, come to think of it, the sludgy, stoner metal vibe the group conjures on this song does kind of remind me of a less proggy take on that classic Atlanta band’s sound.

The artwork for Mors Aeterna also demonstrates the best thing about Destroyer of Light: they know how to have some fun. The scene looks like something from an especially crowded John Martin painting; a Zeus-looking dude paddles a boat across choppy waters, fending off the submerged Damned with an oar while Death himself stands at the prow; looming behind all of this is a massive, many-armed, scythe-baring aquatic she-monster. It’s so excessive that it’s actually kind of awesome. Similarly, Destroyer of Light’s anthemic vocals, massive riffs, and lyrics about “realms of spirits,” “the face of death,” etc. are so dramatic that they transcend pure gloom n’ doom, making for a good time. Great song and band.

Bio/Info:

The Portland–based rock band worked with producer Ross Robinson (At The Drive-In, The Cure, Slipknot) and mixer Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool, Melvins) on the 10-song album. “We wanted to leave Portland so we could be a little more immersed in the process, instead of having to think about going to get groceries and stuff,” explained Aaron Beam in a recent Revolver interview of working at Ross Robinson’s Venice, Calif. studio.

In the week’s leading up to Only Ghosts’ release, the Portland-based rock band have also created a tremendously clever video about wronged comic book collectors seeking Predator-style vengeance (“Shadows”: https://youtu.be/cnhCxVy5pfs), partnered with Stumptown Coffee Roasters for a tour only blend dubbed “The Deep” after the song of the same name and lent their music to Pabst Blue Ribbon’s retro pinball machine, The Can Crusher. The band recently held a “Shadows” inspired Coloring Book contest sponsored with Indie Merch Store and New Noise Magazine. View all entries at http://redfang.net/coloringbook.

Nerdist dubbed Only Ghosts a “supremely excellent new album” while Metal Sucks offered, “…with Only Ghosts, they’ve delivered their freshest set of jams yet. On this new album, Red Fang are executing their songwriting at a deadly precision: their melodies are hookier, their compositions perfectly tweaked, their dual-throaty-vocal layers reaching an artful tier not really seen in the genre since Blood Mountain.”

PRIMITIVE MAN: Decibel Magazine Shares “Commerce” Video; North American Tour Dates With Bell Witch Confirmed

“Vocalist/guitarist Ethan McCarthy’s instantly recognizable vocals cut through a wall of feedback, noise and down-tuned guitars as the accompanying video decays and corrodes with ‘Commerce.'” — Decibel

With lyrical themes ranging from political corruption, personal struggle, and the crumbling social climate facing the world today, Caustic serves as a cataclysmic soundtrack for a world gone awry.

PRIMITIVE MAN‘s music matches its name: a savage, sparse mix of death metal, blackened noise, and doom. The three-piece was formed in February of 2012 by Ethan Lee McCarthy and Jonathan Campos (all current and former members of Vermin Womb, Withered, Clinging To The Trees Of A Forest Fire, Death Of Self, and Reproacher).
In October of 2012, the band recorded their debut LP Scorn at Flatline Audio with Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Cobalt, Catheter, Clinging To The Trees Of A Forest Fire). Scorn was released as a collaboration between Throatruiner and Mordgrimm Records. The band followed up with a self-released three-song EP in February titled P/M. The unique metal hybridization of Scorn caught the attention of Relapse, who liked the record enough to sign the band and reissue the full-length in the summer 2013. Dubbed a, “totally malignant sounding record and one that will consume you whole if you’re not careful,” by Cvlt Nation and crowned the, “best worst thing that has ever happened to you,” in an 8/10 review from Metal Hammer, Scorn found PRIMITIVE MAN celebrating a slow-roasted apocalypse through seven suffocating hymns of hatred, disease, and sonic deviance. The record put the band on the proverbial map for many listeners, and enabled PRIMITIVE MAN to embark on a relentless touring schedule that would soon see the band playing live shows across the US, Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asia in the company of such acts as Hexis, Reproacher, Fister, Celeste, Opium Lord, and Mammoth Grinder. PRIMITIVE MAN also played Denver Black Sky in 2013 alongside Relapse brethren Dying Fetus, Exhumed, Skinless, Iron Reagan, Call Of The Void, and Weekend Nachos.
All of guitarist/vocalist Ethan McCarthy’s projects have been prolific, and PRIMITIVE MAN is no exception – the band released four splits between 2013 and 2015, and dropped another bombshell of nihility in 2015 with its Relapse EP Home Is Where The Hatred Is. The EP was well-received by publications including Metal Injection, MetalSucks, Revolver, and Exclaim!, the latter of which stated, “unapologetically bleak and permeated by loathing and hostility, Home Is Where The Hatred Is will either leave you wanting more or contemplating teetering off a ledge.”
Despite their primeval, bludgeoning approach, PRIMITIVE MAN wouldn’t exist without their savage awareness of modern humanity: simultaneously old and new, atavistic and groundbreaking, PRIMITIVE MAN stands to redefine current conceptions of hope, faith, and metal music. Years of writing on tour and the addition of drummer Joe Linden sparked a black flame in PRIMITIVE MANmolding the band’s second full-length offering, Caustic set for release this fall via Relapse Records.
PRIMITIVE MAN:
Ethan Lee McCarthy – guitars, vocals
Jonathan Campos – bass
Joe Linden – drums

About Olivia Millerschin

Among her accolades, Millerschin has won a John Lennon Songwriting Award, an American Songwriter’s Award and, in addition to her new album, has a full album (“Yes. No. Maybe So.”) and an EP (“Over The Weather”) under her belt. She was also a finalist for the Detroit Music Awards, LA Music Critics Award and her songs have garnered radio play nationwide.

Having toured with Sawyer Fredericks, Teddy Geiger, Tyler Hilton, Orla Gartland, Ryan Cabrera, and Howie Day, Olivia has had pretty busy few years. She has also embarked on her own 40-city, cross-country college tour and has appeared on some of the nation’s biggest stages, including Radio City Music Hall and the Fox Theatre in Detroit.

Her music has been featured in motion pictures (“A Girl Like Her”), TV (“Finding Carter”), and one music compilation to a book. Olivia’s take on the 1930’s French song, “Parlez-Moi D’Amour,” was included in the musical companion to Mitch Albom’s best-selling new book, “The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto,” alongside musical legends Tony Bennett, Gene Simmons, Ingrid Michaelson and Matt Kearney.

The 21-year-old songstress “has a voice you melt into – it is beautiful, innocent, soulful and note perfect despite reaching some notes only dogs can hear!… As far as ‘uniqueness’ is concerned, this American has it in spades,” said Dom Flint, music reviewer, The Nottingham Post, during her recent UK tour with Irish singer-songwriter Orla Gartland.

MUSE AND 30 SECONDS TO MARS DIG DOWN AT KEY BANK PAVILLION

Since Muse has entered the upper echelon of performing bands, they have made use of their budget to entertain the masses by not only providing killer music but the use of lights and screens to maximum effect.  Last night at Key Bank Pavillion was no different.  Muse came out swinging immediately with new tune “Dig Down”, “Psycho”, and “Interlude” while the rotating banks of LCD lighting projected wild images and using live feed of the band.  Although we have all seen live feed for years, the filters, effects, and technology used to make all of this into eye candy a la U2 proportion.

Even though Muse gets lumped into a more electronic alternative rock, make no mistake, Matt Bellamy (lead singer/lead guitar) can be very aggressive on his ax and has the chops to be considered a guitar god.  What makes Muse head and shoulders over other power trios is that each musician is highly talented and bring out the best of each other.  Their sound is reminiscent of tinges of Rush, Queen, and Radiohead all blended into one.  Since “Knights of Cydonia” put them on the map, they have continued to evolve as a band, never repeating the exact flavor of their last release while staying true to themselves and their audience.

Seeing the band live not only puts Bellamy’s influences (there were short bits of Led Zep, Stevie Ray Vaughn, RATM, and Eddie Van Halen licks here and there thrown in) and guitar prowess but the great voice and backbone of the bass rhythm riffs of Chris Wolstenholme, as well as the backbeat and (sometimes) the background vocal stylings of drummer Dominic Howard.  Throw in some massive confetti filled balls, falling paper men blown out of multiple canons, and Matt going into the back of the covered seating to sing and you have quite a bit to talk about.  The sound was amazing, the performance flawless, and the audience left feeling like they truly witnessed something special.  Other than Bellamy taking frequent breaks in the beginning, and even one song being “mailed in” by Matt on video while the rest of the band played, it was a beyond solid performance.

Jared Leto‘s band 30 Seconds To Mars opened the evening off with a very upbeat performance as well.  Leto came out looking every bit of homeless Hollywood star as possible with a trucker hat, Nascar shirt, jogger pants, and silk kimono.  His voice sounded great and his interplay with his brother Shannon on drums and guitarist Tomo Miličević was spot on.  Leto involved the crowd quite a bit by bringing many people onstage and talking a lot for an opening set.  He even brought a kid up onto the stage to teach him what to say when he gets bullied, with the kid yelling “Fuck You!” to the utter delight of the crowd.  The acoustic “The Kill”, frequent sing alongs, and some Metallica and Pantera riffage while Jared played with the crowd made for quite an interactive experience.

CHON recently announced the release of their second full-length album Homey on June 16th via Sumerian Records. Underneath a canopy of electronic-tinged soundscapes and tapestries of lush guitar mastery, you can practically feel the Southern California coast come to life on Homey.
Following the success of 2015’s Grow and worldwide touring with everyone from Periphery and Animals As Leaders to Circa Survive, the instrumental trio-brothers Mario [guitar] and Nathan Camarena [drums] and Erick Hansel [guitar]-returned home to San Diego in the summer of 2016 to begin work on what would become their next musical offering. For the very first time, they rented a rehearsal space a stone’s throw from the ocean, and the beachside locale’s influence courses through 12 virtuosic and vibrant new musical movements.
Those vibes transformed CHON into a vital force since their emergence in 2008. Grow marked their first entry on the Billboard Top 200, landing prominently in the Top 150. They impressively average 144K Spotify streams monthly with over 10 tracks cracking the 1-million mark and fan favorites such as “Story,” “Bubble Dream,” and “Can’t Wait” surpassing 2 million-a remarkable feat for a chiefly instrumental act. Homey sees them expand once more, incorporating a slew of future bass influences with collaborators such as Go Yama on “Berry Streets” and Lophile on “Nayhoo”, which also features a vocal cameo from Masego.
With excitement towards the upcoming release, CHON explains, “We’re super proud to show everyone our new album “Homey”. This time we tried a lot of new things out that we’ve always wanted to do, one of which being the chance to collab with a bunch of our favorite artists of all time, so this is a really special album to us. The loose concept behind the name “Homey” comes from the music being inspired by where we live in Southern California. A lot of magical moments went into the creation of this thing, and we hope you feel ’em”
CHON is set to release their upcoming full-length album Homey on June 16, 2017. For more information, please visit: http://www.chonofficial.com/.

HERE’S WHAT PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY BEEN SAYING ABOUT THE WHISKEY GENTRY’S “DEAD RINGER”:

“Lauren Staley’s vocals fit nicely into the Kacey Musgraves/Maren Morris gallactic country orbit. This gentry, however, has a whole lot of Western influences and a trunk full of guitar tremelo that makes their track “Looking for Trouble” feel like an authentic ride through the desert. After the second chorus, the song really does venture into psychedelic territory with phasers set to kill. It’s an interesting coda, capping off a great straight-forward twang rocker with drama.” – NO DEPRESSION

“One of this year’s best country albums… Dead Ringer‘s runaway rock and blazing bluegrass bristle with the same fire and brimstone as albums by some of country’s hottest acts, from stars like Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert to newbies like Jon Pardi and Margo Price.” – TAMPA BAY TIMES

“Blending traditional bluegrass instrumentation with the energy of punk and the songwriting depth of country, Atlanta’s Whiskey Gentry whips the diverse audience of liquored up frat boys, hardcore country fans and local scenesters into a frenzy, mixing frantic instrumentals with edgy rockers and neo-honky-tonk weepers, and they don’t let up until the last note rings loud and clear above the cacophonous applause.” – GEORGIA MUSIC MAGAZINE

[9/10 stars!] “The Whiskey Gentry have got a real dead ringer you’ll love.” – MAXIMUM VOLUME MUSIC

“On Dead Ringer, the Whiskey Gentry’s third studio album, the group turns most of its attention away from the good-time party mentality of previous releases and writes about itself, its members’ lives and what matters to them. It is a bold step for a band that has a devoted following of loyal fans who expect the high energy acoustic-based “yeehah!” of the past. And while there is still plenty of that vitality in the music, the words are a bit more introspective and the electric guitars are a little bit louder. With the ever-present feistiness in singer Lauren Staley Morrow’s rich, clear voice, the delivery of a more autobiographical narrative is as entertaining as always and the live in-studio recording retains the band’s musical intensity. All in all, Dead Ringer is a fine effort by a band that is not afraid to grow up.” ★★★★☆ – CREATIVE LOAFING ATLANTA

“Named after a memorable line in Hunter S. Thompson’s iconic missive from the 1970 Kentucky Derby, Atlanta-based country-rock crew The Whiskey Gentry operates with appropriate levels of decadence and depravity. The group’s new record, Dead Ringer, showcases a punked-up version of its bluegrass- (and whiskey-) soaked Americana sound. Like Lydia Loveless or the Drive-By Truckers, The Whiskey Gentry uses traditional Southern music as a base for a sneakily innovative and contemporary sound.” – FLAGPOLE

“It’s hard not to love Lauren Staley’s voice, which is not only powerful but definitely sounds like it was influenced by listening to a lot of country music. This album is a real testament to the songwriting of this band. Whether it’s an uptempo song or a ballad, this band creates songs that are a good blend of rock and country and will have you singing along. If you’re a fan of alt-country, this is a band you’ll want to get to know.” – AXS

“There’s something joyous and revelatory about the mix of honky-tonk swagger and DIY rebelliousness that feels truer to its influences than slicker, more polished groups, and lead singer Lauren Staley will always have one of those classic country voices that can knock you back flat-footed.” – COLUMBIA FREE TIMES

Dead Ringer is an album of an honest human experience, replete with all the thoughts, feelings, and experiences that unite people across the South, the country, and the world. In a world where the most powerful people win the tympanic real estate of the masses with disingenuous lyrics, the Whiskey Gentry can provide solace to anyone with a beating heart and open ears. The Whiskey Gentry sing tales of woe and emotional tangles that are relatable, honest, and beautiful. This is the essence of music: preservation of the stories that bring people together, an expression of the shared human experience. – LIBRO MUSICA

Following the release of their first two acclaimed albums, Please Make Welcome (2011) and Holly Grove (2013), the Atlanta-based band The Whiskey Gentry are set to release their third full-length studio album entitled Dead Ringer this spring. On it, the husband and wife duo of Lauren Staley & Jason Morrow and bandmates have created an effort that builds on many of the sounds of their previous albums – incorporating deep country, Americana, honky-tonk, bluegrass and a stiff shot of gritty rock ’n’ roll, yet it also finds the band testing themselves and pushing beyond their own boundaries.

Dead Ringer deals with growing up, and how that’s affected the band’s relationships, and the places they’ve gone and people they’ve met in the process. As singer/songwriter Lauren Staley puts it, “There’s also a lot of questioning where you are in your life: are you going to follow your dream, or are you going to do what society thinks you should do?”

It’s apparent with this effort that Staley & Co. have opted for the former. “A common lyrical thread throughout this album are stories about being on the road,” Lauren admits, “and chasing your dreams and the outcomes – either good or bad – in doing that.”

Stepping outside of the comfort zone of their previous recordings, the band has moved in a different direction musically. “Sonically, the biggest difference of this record is that we recorded it live together in the same room at Echo Mountain Recording Studio (Asheville, NC),” Lauren explains. “There are less overdubs, which makes it sound more like how it would if you were to see us in person – it’s raw, it’s not perfect. We worked with a producer for the first time (Les Hall), and he had so many amazing ideas we’d never thought of and really pushed us to think outside of our box. There’s an energy on this record that we’ve never captured before, and I think it was a complete game changer for our sound.”

Dead Ringer has more guitars, more attitude and more of an edge than anything the band has done before. It’s not such a massive departure in sound that fans won’t understand it, but they will notice. “We are not a different band,” Lauren explains, “but we’ve definitely grown up and are changed people from the time we started this band. I think we’re better musicians, better songwriters. We’ve learned lessons and we’ve worked hard, and we want to tell our current fans and new fans the stories of what we’ve experienced on this journey. Musically, there are still elements of bluegrass and honky-tonk in our sound, and there always will be. However, I think we’ve expanded the scope of what we can offer people – there’s something for everyone on this record.”

The Whiskey Gentry has been tearing up the road for the better half of the last decade, logging over 150 shows each year, and winning over crowds at major festivals such as Shaky Knees, Shaky Boots, Merlefest, Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, FloydFest and many others. With the release of Dead Ringer they’ll continue this trend, bringing their raucous, high-energy shows to audiences from coast-to-coast.

The Whiskey Gentry’s Dead Ringer will be available on limited vinyl, CD and digital formats on April 7th via Pitch-A-Tent Records.

Los Angeles, CA, and Winter Park, FL, March 23, 2017 – The entire lineup for 2017’s Vans Warped Tour, presented by Journeys, was revealed yesterday via a LIVE webcast, direct from Full Sail Live, the state-of-the-art performance venue on the campus of Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. Fans in attendance were overjoyed to see the lineup for this year include not only current favorites and promising up and comers, but a deep list of legacy acts spanning the tour’s 23 year history. Blessthefall, Memphis May Fire, Jule Vera, Stacked Like Pancakes and Microwave also attended the live stream and performed during the webcast.
Now in its 23rd year, the Vans Warped Tour continues to solidify itself as the must attend festival over summer for rock and music lovers alike.
In the tradition of celebrating the tour’s musical roots, the lineup includes bands such as CKY, Sick Of It All, Municipal Waste, The Adolescents, Strung Out, T.S.O.L, Anti-Flag, Hatebreed and others, who are legends in the punk, hardcore and metal core world.
Returning this year is the Mutant Party Zone, which will provide festival-goers with two stages dedicated to heavy music from bands such as The Acacia Strain, Being As An Ocean, Blessthefall, Carnifex, Fit For A King, GWAR and any more.

The Vans Warped Tour has always been a place of music discovery and this year is no exception – the Full Sail Stage has up and comers like Boston Manor, Creeper, The Gospel Youth, Knocked Loose, Movements, and Trophy Eyes positioned to break this summer.

Overall, the tour continues to offer something for every fan, showcasing the best in pop punk, rock, hard core, hip-hop, dance and indie.
The Vans Warped Tour is the largest traveling music festival in the United States, and the longest-running touring music festival in North America. Originally conceived by founder Kevin Lyman in 1995 as an eclectic alternative rock festival, with a focus on punk rock, over the years the tour has grown to include a multitude of genres, including metal, hip hop, reggae, pop and more. It remains one of the best tours to attend to discover emerging acts, to learn more about wonderful non-profits and companies who are working to make a positive impact on the world that surround them, and to meet like-minded friends.
“As we enter our 23rd year on the road, continuing our mission of music, philanthropy and education is what I look forward to most.  The Vans Warped Tour is not for all, but every summer I look forward to seeing those fans who do chose to come and engage and be a positive force in our community.” – Kevin Lyman
In addition, the tour continues to host a wide array of amazing non-profits and educational workshops for attendees. Teens With a Purpose, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), Donate Life New England, Planned Parenthood, Keep A Breast, Testicular Cancer Foundation, and Project HEAL, just to name a few. Fans can see their favorite bands as well as become educated on these causes and how they can help.
Sierra Lyman comments, “Music has inspired change and social change has inspired music. Since its inception the Vans Warped Tour created a place where fans are not only inspired by their favorite artists, but also inspired to work with a cause they care about. This is pushed even further by opening up musicians to causes they never even knew about. By creating this community of nonprofits we are able to connect fans with their favorite musicians and also inspire some good in the world.”
The Entertainment Institute will return to the 2017 tour as well, hosting educational workshops and Q+A’s hosted by the industry’s most successful writers, artists, and photographers. A full listing of the guru’s hosting each workshop is available at http://www.thinktei.com/warpedtour

Tickets for this year’s tour on are sale now and can be purchased at vanswarpedtour.com
As a bonus for early ticket buyers, the first 500 tickets sold for each show will be at the lowest price available and will include a digital download of the Official Vans Warped Tour 50-song compilation.

Emarosa Announces Spring Tour Dates/Stage AE 5/9

Emarosa has just announced a headlining tour with Chapel this Spring. The tour kicks off on April 17th in Lansing, MI and wraps up on May 24th in San Antonio, TX. Tickets are on sale today at 10am local time here. Most recently, the band announced they, along with Chapel, would be joining Sum 41 and Pierce The Veil on the upcoming We Will Detonate! Tour, presented by Loudwire Live. For a full list of tour dates and more information on Emarosa, please visit emarosa.us.

VIP Packages are available for purchase as well. A portion of every package will go to the LTD Foundation, which bridges the music industry together with fans who have terminal diseases by giving them their own Dream Day Backstage. VIP Packages are available here: http://ltdvip.org/emarosavip
Featuring the acclaimed singles “Sure”, “Cloud 9“, “Helpless“, “Blue” and “Miracle“, the highly anticipated album, 131, was released in July via Hopeless Records and garnered incredible praise with Substream Magazine saying “We don’t hesitate to proclaim Emarosa is better now than ever before” and Chorus.fm stating that “‘131’ shatters the mold the band previously sat in and stands out as a modern rock masterpiece that delivers hit after heart-felt hit.”
131 was produced in Nashville by Casey Bates, who is known for his work with artists like Portugal The Man, Chiodos, PierceThe Veil, Memphis May Fire, Gatsbys American Dream and many more. During the recording process, the band made a conscious effort to throw all expectations to the side and record the album they always wanted to make, free of all external pressures. As a result, the record takes a pop-turn, reflecting Walden’s diverse influences, including Michael Jackson and PatrickStump, while still retaining Emarosa’s signature grittiness. Fans old and new will enjoy the dynamic sounds of 131.
On 131‘s evolved sound, Walden explores the boundaries of rock and infuses these epically charged anthems with an even fuller sense of grandeur than on past releases. “I’m so proud of this. It’s my favorite thing I’ve ever done. This is the record we wanted to make,” he shares.

Emarosa’s current line up includes Bradley Scott Walden, ER White, Jordan Stewart and Matthew Marcellus.
131 is now available for purchase at the following links:

The Devil Wears Prada Joins Anthrax, Killswitch Engage Tour/ Pittsburgh Date April 9

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA TO JOIN ANTHRAX AND KILLSWITCH ENGAGE
ON SPRING NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
L-R:  Kyle Sipress, Andy Trick, Mike Hranica, Jeremy Depoyster
LOS ANGELES, CA – (Thursday, January 5, 2017) — The Devil Wears Prada will hit the road early in the New Year with a slot on what will be one of the heaviest tours of 2017 – a 27-date North American tour as special support to co-headliners Anthrax and Killswitch Engage.  The trek, presented by SiriusXM, kicks off at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ on March 29 and will zig-zag the continent, culminating in Boston on May 7.  Tickets are on sale now; log onto http://www.tdwpband.com/tour for purchasing info.
This tour won’t be the first time that TDWP – Mike Hranica (vocals), Jeremy DePoyster (rhythm guitar, vocals), Andy Trick (bass), and Kyle Sipress (lead guitar) – have crossed paths with either band.  Prada toured the U.S. with KsE in 2010, and played with Anthrax on the 2012 Mayhem tour.  Additionally, Adam D., KsE’s lead guitarist, produced two of Prada’s albums – Dead Throne (2011) and 8:18 (2013).
“This tour will be a real treat,” said Prada’s Hranica.  “We have an awesome relationship with Adam, he’s one of the craziest, most fun dudes we know, and when it comes to thrash and metal, you don’t get much bigger names than Anthrax and Killswitch.”
The Devil Wears Prada will be putting together a special set for this tour.  “I love the idea of going to a show and seeing bands whose music is in the same ballpark, but still different from each others’,” Hranica added.  “We have our own personal style on the side of metal, so we’ll do some of our dark, heavy, noisey songs, but probably stay away from interludes inbetween.  We’ll have our own footprint on stage each night.”
These dates will be in support of Prada’s new and sixth full-lenth album, the 11-track, critically-acclaimed Transit Blues (Rise Records).  Produced by Dan Korneff (Pierce The Veil, Motionless in White), Transit Blues examines themes of transition, separation and the toll that constant touring can have on one’s personal life.  Click here to check out the album’s first music video for the song “To The Key Of Evergreen,” inspired by Hranica’s all-time favorite love story, Vladimir Nabokov’s “Lolita.”

DEVILDRIVER released their long-awaited seventh studio album, Trust No One, in May 2016 via Napalm Records. The album is available for purchase now digitally via iTunes and Amazon, or in other formats via the Napalm Records Web Store and DevilDriver.com. This ballsy, brash and brutal burnt offering ignites the group’s fiercest ten salvos to date. Straight out of the gate, key tastemakers embraced the record with KERRANG! calling it, “A snorting, snarling heavy metal beast,” and Metal Hammer going as far as to say, Trust No One is a monstrous comeback that cackles with renewed verve, ideas and energy that’s the equal of the band’s finest achievements.”
Trust No One entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #43. The album followed 2013’s Winter Kills, which bowed at #32. To date, DEVILDRIVER has developed one of the most rabid fan bases in heavy metal, which has packed festivals and venues everywhere to witness their gospel of intensity.

Fort Yates, North Dakota, November 5, 2016: Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt,  Joel Rafael, and Bad Dog will perform a benefit concert on Sunday, November 27 for the Water Protectors on the front line and the Standing Rock community. The concert will be held at Prairie Knights Pavilion in Fort Yates, ND. Turtle Island Storyteller and founder of the Standing Rock Sioux Camp at Sacred Stone Ladonna Brave Bull Allard, and others to be announced, will speak at the concert. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday at 10 AM Central Time.

The link to purchase tickets is HERE

All gross proceeds from the concert will benefit the Oceti Sakowin Camp.

The Oceti Sakowin Camp is a historic gathering of Native nations, friends and allies, from all walks of life standing in solidarity to halt the Dakota Access Pipeline.

“Just as we give thanks for our good fortune and the bounty of our lives as Americans, let us thank the Native people who are gathered here at Standing Rock to protect the natural world and defend our place in it,” said Jackson Browne.

“I’m proud to be standing in support of the courageous and dedicated Water Protectors at Standing Rock. This movement is growing by the day with solidarity actions happening around the country, yet the media isn’t covering it nearly enough. Our hope is that this concert will help bring more awareness and media attention to the issues being raised at Standing Rock, and to put pressure on The Obama Administration to halt construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline until protection of sacred sites is ensured,” said Bonnie Raitt.

“We are honored to have these great artists stand with us!” says Ladonna.

JOINS ANTHRAX ONSTAGE IN ATLANTA
JAMMING ON “INDIANS”
L-R:  Anthrax’s Frank Bello, Norman Reedus (w/ hat), Anthrax’s Joey Belladonna

LOS ANGELES, CAL – Thursday, October 6, 2016 — Actor Norman Reedus, better known as Daryl Dixon on “The Walking Dead,” joined Anthrax on stage last night at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, jamming on guitar during the band’s classic “Indians.”  Anthrax’s Frank Bello and Scott Ian are both huge fans of the show – in 2015, Ian appeared in an episode playing one of the zombies, and unfortunately met a horrible demise with a metal pole through his head.

Before last night’s show, Bello and Ian dropped by “The Walking Dead” set, hanging out with Reedus and the show’s director/special effects artist Greg Nicotero.

Anthrax is current on tour with Slayer and Death Angel, upcoming dates are below.

BATTLECROSS will be touring in support of their latest album, Rise To Power, which landed on the Billboard charts at #103, marking the band’s second Billboard chart entry (2013’s War Of Will entered the charts at #130). To preview and purchase Rise To Power, visit: metalblade.com/battlecross.

Allegaeon will release their new album, Proponent For Sentience, this Friday, September 23rd.Produced by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation), Proponent For Sentience is a musically complex, intelligent, and absorbing concept record that can rightfully sit alongside the true greats of the medium. With a lyrical arc rooted in science-fiction yet uncomfortably encroaching upon the reality of the present, it captures the Fort Collins, Colorado natives at their most ambitious and accomplished, pushing the boundaries even further than on their three previous critically acclaimed full-lengths. To preview and purchase Proponent For Sentience, visit: metalblade.com/allegaeon.

If flaccid, identikit, breakdown-laden “metal” is the disease, Necromancing The Stone’s recently released debut full-length, Jewel Of The Vile, is the cure. Featuring current/former members of Arsis(guitarist James Malone), The Absence (drummer Jeramie Kling), The Black Dahlia Murder (bassist Ryan “Bart” Williams), and Brimstone Coven (guitarist Justin Wood and vocalist “Big” John Williams),Necromancing The Stone “has brought back the glory days [of ’80s heavy metal] with unbridled spirit”(Loudwire.com). CARCASS continues to tour in support of Surgical Steel, released in September 2013. The record came in at #41 on the US Billboard Top 200 Chart, just narrowly avoiding the dreaded “Top 40 Band” moniker. Even with their impressive back catalogue, Surgical Steel has given the band their highest charting and possibly most critically acclaimed record to date.

Surgical Steel
was produced by Colin Richardson (Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower, Gorefest, Cannibal Corpse etc.) and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Accept, Exodus, Testament). Joining guitarist Bill Steer and bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker in the band’s current incarnation are new drummer Dan Wilding (Aborted, Trigger The Bloodshed) and guitarist Ben Ash (Pig Iron, Desolation, Liquefied Skeleton). Original sticksman Ken Owen contributed guest vocals as well.

CARCASS has released several classic albums over the years, including Decibel Magazine “Hall of Fame” inductees Heartwork and Necroticism – Descanting The Insalubrious, and their influence has changed the face of extreme metal with every consecutive release. Whether it was inventing gore-grind (see Reek Of Putrefaction, Symphonies Of Sickness) or creating the template for melodic death metal (see Heartwork), CARCASS has always made records by which bars were set and rules were broken. Upon the band’s dismantling in 1996, fans mourned the loss of the seminal act and longed that the group would return again one day. In 2007, the metal world got its wish as CARCASS reformed to play several sold-out reunion shows around the globe. Once again re-motivated to administer a shot of cynicism and infectious riffs into the arm of a sickly metal scene, founding members Bill Steer and Jeff Walker began writing what would become the latest output of their highly influential career,Surgical Steel. Only the choicest of cuts were made, and blood sweat and tears were shed to bring us a record worthy of the CARCASS legacy. In short, Surgical Steel is just what the doctor ordered.

HONKY: Texas-Based Superboogie Trio Announces More Live Dates

“Flawless, 1970s-inspired guitar rock…” – Heavy Metal Textbooks

“…it’s not often that you find a band that gets better with each and every album. HONKY is absolutely one of those few bands…” – Enfocus

“…there aren’t many bands that can successfully try and compete with Dusty, Frank and The Reverend Willy G but HONKY are out to at least bask in the reflected glory by playing the same kind of swaggering Texan blues rock as The Top with the Southern Trendkill of Pantera thrown in to make sure your hips are shaking and your teeth get kicked in… this is good shit” – Musipedia Of Metal

# Anthrax, DEATH ANGEL only

DEATH ANGEL will be touring in support of their newest full-length The Evil Divide, released earlier this Spring via Nuclear Blast Records. The Evil Divide was recorded at AudioHammer studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, Deicide), who previously worked on 2010’sRelentless Retribution and 2013’s The Dream Calls For Blood. Mastering duties were handled by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York City.

Three decades into their celebrated career, DEATH ANGEL remains as hungry as ever. As a result, uncompromising urgency and unpredictability drive The Evil Divide. The group – vocalist Mark Osegueda, lead guitarist Rob Cavestany, guitarist Ted Aguilar, drummer Will Carroll, and bassist Damien Sisson – satiate the appetite for buzzsaw speed riffs, double bass mayhem, and scorching vocals over the course of ten new anthems.

The Evil Divide stands out as the culmination of thirty-plus years of music for DEATH ANGEL. It kicked off with legendary debut, The Ultra-Violence, in 1987. The classic Frolic Through The Parkbegan to cement their legacy and even earned the distinction of landing on Loudwire’s list of the “Top Ten Thrash Albums NOT Released By The Big 4.” The group broke up following 1990’s Act III only to reunite in 2004 on Art Of Dying for the next generation.

In 2008, DEATH ANGEL teamed with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Rush, Mastodon) for Killing Season recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606. In 2010, Relentless Retribution boasted a cameo from virtuosos Rodrigo y Gabriela, while 2013’s The Dream Calls For Blood bowed at #72 on the Billboard Top 200, selling 5,400 copies first-week and earning the group’s first-ever entry onto that respective chart.

About VYCES:

In the summer of 2014, frontman and guitarist, Dave Naruszewicz was looking to work on a new project following the disbandment of Chicago based group, HeartSet Self Destruct. After recording 2 full length records, releasing a single to active rock radio which charted at #1 on Music Choice Network, and years of touring North America with such bands as Volbeat, Hellyeah, and Filter it was time for change.

Looking to feed his passion as an artist, Dave spent time working with other musicians in the Chicago music scene but didn’t find what he was looking for. Not deterred, Dave reached out to longtime friend and fellow musician/drummer, Russell Ray. Russ (formerly of Old Fashioned Beatdown) also cowrote and recorded drums for WindUp Records recording artist Megan McCauley.

Dave began flying to Los Angeles from Chicago twice a month, working with Russ to build something new, original and undeniable. Russ then reached out to former bandmate and guitarist Shawn Patterson (formerly Old Fashioned Beatdown and Phantom Communique). The three began writing, recording, and sharing demos that would eventually become the foundation of VYCES. After a few trips to L.A., they entered the studio with producer Augustus Cryns (Stitched Up Heart, XO Stereo, The Dead Rabbits and Westfield Massacre).

One year later, the band completed 14 songs that established the raw sound, power, and a vision that is VYCES. The band has been compared to such artists as Chevelle, Killswitch Engage and Breaking Benjamin, sonically creating a dark blend of active rock and metal. Dave describes the soul of the songs as “exploring the darker side of human emotion and behavior. It’s something everyone can relate to because everyone has experienced some form of hurt, betrayal, weakness, hate, addiction and/or lack of acceptance. It’s also the fuel that drives us to be stronger, get better and overcome the flaws we’ve built in our minds.”
The founding members of the band felt it was time to release their music and tour, so they began their hunt for members to fill out the lineup and become part of the family. Evan Seidlitz, (former singer of Thrown Into Exile and Grimace), longtime friend of Dave and Russ, was asked to join the band. Evan toured on The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in 2013 with Thrown Into Exile, promoting their single, “Not Alone” which was featured on Sirius XM’s Liquid Metal. Evan also performed several guest spots with Grimace when they played the house band for Comedy Central’s Tosh.0. Evan, being a singer and frontman himself, brought a new dimension of aggressive and melodic vocals to round out the band’s live performance, as well as adding keys and synths to fill out the sound. The band soon began auditioning other musicians in search of a bass player. Evan brought in bassist Mark James Klepaski (formerly of Breaking Benjamin). Mark earned platinum and gold records for his work with Breaking Benjamin. Along with years of touring experience, Mark brought a unique and powerful style and tone that fit perfectly with the band’s vision. Mark retracked the bass lines on the record, helping mold the band’s rhythm section into what it is today. The band is currently preparing to release their selftitled EP and recently shot a music video for the upcoming single, “Devil” directed by Ron Underwood. “Devil” will be released this August 18th. Their 1st single “The Hive” is currently available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and all other media platforms.

The Sword in Pittsburgh September 29th @StageAE with Opeth

The Sword is from Texas (Austin) and released their latest album, High Country, on August 21st to rave reviews. The band received great press from Village Voice, Revolver, Brooklyn Vegan, USA Today’s “Dad Rock”, Alternative Press, and many more. The album debuted at #14 upon release. The band is set to release the acoustic version of the release on September 23rd called Low Country.

The Sword Bio:

There’s an unspoken edict handed down through the ages when it comes to rock bands: there are no rules.

Nobody picks up a guitar to be constricted or oppressed. It’s all about feeling free artistically. Now, The Sword—John Cronise [vocals, guitar], Kyle Shutt [guitar], Bryan Richie [bass], and Santiago Vela III [drums]—cut out boundaries since day one. Their style never stood predicated on a trend or a template. They always create what feels right and let the results speak for themselves.

When it came time to record the group’s fifth full-length album, High Country [Razor & Tie], Cronise landed at something of a spiritual crossroads. Following the final tour for their critically acclaimed Apocryphon, he holed up in his North Carolina home and eventually began writing new songs. The material began to veer into a different space that at the time Cronise felt was somewhat outside of The Sword’s sphere.

“I didn’t even intend for the demos to be Sword songs,” he explains. “But then I realized that I had taken on a sort of limiting view of what The Sword was, and that wasn’t actually what I wanted it to be. I think the new album is more reflective of the music I listen to and where our heads are at collectively. With each of our albums, it’s become less about fury and bombast and more about trying to write good songs. We realized that our music can go wherever we want it to go. There’s no pre-determined course here now, and there never was.”

High Country became new territory for The Sword, and they began doing things differently. That approach included more attention to backing vocals and harmonies, implementing more synthesizers and percussion elements, and tuning to E-flat instead of all the way down to C. As a result, the guitars stand out as more vital and vibrant than ever.

“I felt like the low tuning had become more of a crutch than a tool,” he says. “It was all a matter of trying to keep things fresh, and not fall prey to habits or expectations. We wanted to break out of any classifications and just put out a good rock record.”

Inspired, the boys headed to Church House Recording Studio in Austin, TX to cut High Country with Adrian Quesada of Brownout and Grupo Fantasma producing, Stuart Sykes [The White Stripes] engineering, and J. Robbins mixing. Over the course of four weeks, they hammered out the album’s 15 tracks in the old converted church. Thematically though, Cronise’s head was still in North Carolina.

“There are a lot of lyrical themes that run throughout the album,” he explains. “I live out in the mountains, so nature really inspired the whole record. That’s a large part of the lyrics.”

The title track and first single “High Country” springs from a transfixing guitar melody into a sweeping refrain, illuminating the group’s inherent dynamics. Over those rolling riffs, the singer paints a thought-provoking topography.

“That was actually the first song I wrote that ended up going on the record,” he says. “The title can have quite a few meanings. Physically, it might mean mountains and literal high country, but it can also refer to a plane of being; a place of wisdom and enlightenment.”

“Empty Temples” opens with a psychedelic buzz that quickly ramps up into towering guitars and another robust vocal display evocative of rock’s golden age.

“It’s loose and swinging, but it has these epic moments,” says Cronise. “Lyrically, it’s about letting go of the past and moving on. You just have faith if you embrace change and be unafraid, and you’ll find where you need to go.”

The gathering storm of “Early Snow” eventually gives way to a rapturous horn section, another first for the band, while “Mist and Shadow” stirs up a haze of blues that’s instantly thunderous. “That song is based around riffs written by Bryan, which is a new thing for us. He contributed quite a bit of music to this album, and in many ways it’s our most collaborative work to date.”

Both “The Dreamthieves” and “Tears Like Diamonds” have titles inspired by the work of science fiction author Michael Moorcock, though Cronise insists the lyrics have lives of their own. “I’d prefer to let people interpret the songs how they want,” he says, “which is one reason the lyrics aren’t printed in the album sleeve this time. I think they’re pretty intelligible and accessible, and I didn’t want them to distract from the music.”

The Sword’s impact continues to expand. 2012’s Apocryphon debuted at #17 on the Billboard Top 200, marking their highest entry on the chart. Since first emerging with 2006’s Age of Winters, the group has been extolled by everyone from Rolling Stone and The Washington Post to Revolver and Decibel. Metallica personally chose them as support for a global tour, and they’ve earned high-profile syncs in movies including Jennifer’s Body and Jonas Åkerlund’s Horsemen. However, High Country is the band’s biggest, boldest, and brightest frontier.

“I want to make positive, uplifting music,” Cronise leaves off. “High Country has moments of darkness and thoughtfulness, as anything I write probably will. But at the end of the day I want to put smiles on people’s faces.”

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Announce US Tour Dates

From DEP Facebook:

The end is near party peoplllllllllllle. But not yet… not yet. So we had all of the fun getting up close and personal with some of you in the tiny saunas… I mean venues… that we played over the last couple of weeks. There was no better way we could’ve chosen to start the beginning of the end than by getting back in the van and getting down to the slimy nitty gritty with some of y’all in some of our favorite cities. Thanks to everyone who came out and screamed and sweat and bled with us and checked their fucks at the door. So invigorating to play such feral explosive small shows after being dormant for a while. Sad to know they will be our last shows in venues that small and intimate but very meaningful to say the least. Full body chills/goosebumps every night to see you all go into a frenzy and scream along to the end of Limerent Death so soon after we released it. So, because we’re kinda hooked on this whole intimate show thing now, we’re doing another in the UK this week at Old Blue Last. This place holds 150 people….tickets go on sale today at 3pm. Not bothering to post a link, you guys’ll figure it out.

BRIGHTON -- New Record by THE SHONDES -- 9.16.16
The Shondes – Brighton album trailer
When The Shondes released The Garden (Exotic Fever 2013), frontwoman Louisa Solomon said it was “an album about growing up,” and she had no idea how right she was.Rolling Stone’s 4-star review dubbed it “Riot-grrrl furor, arena bombast and klezmer stomp,” while The Washington Post said: “Every time I’ve seen The Shondes, a hurricane has touched down. Violinist Elijah Oberman rocks his instrument like the world is ending. Louisa Solomon sings like her soul is leaping out of her mouth. Every time I wondered when the band would break big.” With this game-changing wave of critical praise, followed by a national tour with punk legends Against Me!, the scrappy, heart-on-their-sleeves New Yorkers were truly coming into their own, and they set right to work on their follow-up, Brighton (Exotic Fever 2016).

On this record we find the band delivering their signature power hooks, charming group harmonies, and clap-along breakdowns with a new ease and sophistication. It feels lighter, more confident, less forced; where they once fought for hope, willed anthems into being, they now sound effortlessly alive. This is in no small part due to the founding pair (best friends Oberman and Solomon) alighting on the right lineup. Drummer Alex Smith and guitarist Courtney Robbins were both recruited in 2015, with Robbins relocating from Tucson. There is an unmissable and even magical cohesion among the four, as though with this level of musicianship, a burden has lifted and the music can finally bloom into the satisfying, spirited pop-rock it always wanted to be. They have been described as “Bruce Springsteen-meets-Bikini Kill,” and on Brighton they add serious pop appeal to the formula that will have you punching your fist in the air despite yourself.

With Smith’s cracking snare rousing any listener to full attention, her rock-solid drumming anchors the absolute powerhouse that is Robbins’s guitar. Un-ironically revelling in a wailing solo on one track and creating a tapestry of delicate, twinkling overlays on the next, it dramatically amplifies each song’s emotional pay-off. Springsteen biographer Peter Ames Carlin said Solomon has “better-stand-back vocals…one of the biggest voices in pop,” and she has been compared to the likes of Chrissie Hynde and Corin Tucker, but on Brighton the band provides a foundation for both her signature belt and a gentler head voice rarely utilized on past records. Oberman’s alternatingly keening and raucous violin is its perfect complement, shining in solos and skillful counterpoint. The overall effect is a more dynamic version of a beloved rock band; losing none of their anthemic power, they have crafted eminently joyful, emotionally complex rock songs.

In 2015 Solomon married poet Miller Oberman (yes, much to fans’ delight, he is violinist Elijah’s brother), and many of these songs are in some sense “love songs,” though the most consistent theme of the record is transformation, steering it away from the pitfalls of pop cliché, and toward something much more interesting. The Shondes have always prided themselves on their ability to get a cynic singing along, and they’ve never been in finer form than on this collection in which love, neglect, survival, despair, and hope are inescapably bound. Brighton is a record about turning toward possibility and building beautiful things out of wreckage, and it offers a much-needed soundtrack for the broken and broken-hearted among us who are trying to do just that.
