Mother Falcon To Release Radiohead’s “OK Computer” live

Watch Mother Falcon’s version of “Let Down” live on YouTube

“…a group that can juggle more than a dozen discrete components while still crafting impeccable, surprisingly airy three-minute pop songs.” – NPR

The band’s intricate orchestral arrangements segue with ease from passage to passage, and often, not to the place you might expect.”

The buzz that sets in at the beginning of Radiohead’s “Airbag” – in the original version a serrating guitar riff, amplified by Mother Falcon’s string section – comes on like a swarm of ferocious bees. If you’ve had the pleasure to see this Austin’s indie rock ensemble’s live rendition, know exactly what that means and what vigorous, hauntingly complex story is about to unfold. The band’s uniquely intense interpretations of Radiohead has become a legendary part of experiencing Mother Falcon live. So it is with great pleasure that the band prepares to release their live adaptation of OK Computer for the world to enjoy.

The young group, comprised of a rotating ensemble of 15 to 20 musicians, boasts three cellos, six violins, horns a plenty, several pianos, a bassoon and a glockenspiel – which created a huge buzz during SXSW 2013 and received praise from NPRUSA Today,NYLONPaste, and more for their latest album You Knew. Relentless touring throughout 2013 garnered additional press accolades; along the way Mother Falcon collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Amanda Palmer, Alejandro Escovedo, Jherek Boschoff, Ben Sollee and Tony Trishka.

This new recording accentuates how beautifully Mother Falcon thrives in their live performances. “We’d never really performed many covers in the past, and so this was our first serious engagement with the work of other artists”, says Maurice Chammah of the band. “At our summer camp, we had taught students how to cover songs, but we’d never done it as Mother Falcon. By facing the challenge of translating music that’s heavy on electronics and guitar solos into our orchestral palette, we gained a lot of self-reflection about how we construct our own music. Some of our renditions sound pretty similar to the original tracks, but in some cases, like on the songs ‘Let Down’ and ‘The Tourist,’ we tried to extract the essential elements of the music and reinvent them into something distinctly our own.” These performances have not only won over audiences across the US, but they were also cited as one of Bob Boilen’s “15 Essential Moments From SXSW 2013” and Stephen Thompson’s “favorite young band of the festival’s opening night.”

With their release of Radiohead’s OK Computer on March 18, Mother Falcon takes another ambitious step forward.

MUTOID MAN Confirms March West Coast Tour Dates

Following the unforeseen release of their debut LP, Helium Head, in late in 2013, MUTOID MAN instantly spread through the rock/indie/hardcore underground like a musical pandemic, infecting everyone in its path.

Following only three sporadic live performances in Brooklyn to date, MUTOID MAN now declare newly confirmed arrangements to attack the West Coast in the coming weeks. A six-city run between March 7th and 14th is now locked, bringing the trio to San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Ana and Tempe on their way down to Austin to raid SXSW. Their prime objective in the land of brisket: invade MetalSucks’ fourth annual South by South Death SXSW official showcase on March 14th, the rest of the bill including Animals as Leaders, After the Burial, Ringworm, Iron Reagan, Whores and East of the Wall.

MUTOID MAN Tour Dates:

3/07/2014 Sub-Mission Art Space – San Francisco, CA

3/08/2014 Che Cafe – San Diego, CA

3/09/2014 Vacation Vinyl – Los Angeles, CA (in-store, space limited)

3/10/2014 Constellation Room – Santa Ana, CA

3/11/2014 Yucca Taproom – Tempe, AZ

3/14/2014 Dirty Dog Bar – Austin, TX (MetalSucks Official SXSW Showcase)

MUTOID MAN is the lumbering rock juggernaut which embodies guitarist/vocalist Stephen Brodsky of Cave In, drummer Ben Koller of Converge and Saint Vitus Bar soundman Nick Cageao on bass, and the contagious battery of sonic decimation the unit delivers is nothing short of face-displacing. The energy these guysnaturally create when they jam-out is almost unspeakable. A jacked-up album firing on all cylinders as well as a few nitro tanks and rocket boosters opened to the max, Helium Head is like classic rock on bath salts and a case of energy bars, resonating with an awesome tone created by the band moving into a Brooklyn warehouse for nearly an entire year attaining the properly foundation-crumbling amplification. Helium Head was mixed by Andrew Schneider, mastered by Alan Douches and features cover art by Santos Illustration, and released on CD/LP/digital by Magic Bullet Records in November.

Stream/order Helium Head HERE, and stay tuned for more transmissions as MUTOID MANannounces the next phase of tour warfare.

“Whatever demons have invaded these two men clearly aren’t the kind that are easily exorcised, but the pair does its best, making Helium Head one of the most blistering yet complex records of the year.” – Alarm Magazine

“Simply put, this is a tenacious unapologetic ripper of a record. The six tracks and lone cover included here are an adrenalized collection of Cave In’s careening prog heft coupled with Converge’s relentless drive. With no song crossing the three minute mark, nearly all tracks double as shots of aural adrenaline delivered right through the sternum. 4.5/5” – The PRP

“Mutoid Man plays superheavy stoner pop, and these songs are jam-packed with sugary melodies that sit on top of atomic-bomb-heavy guitars and are propelled by Koller’s signature dexterous, over-the-top drum kit pummeling.” – The Chicago Reader

“The songs stand as a testament to the members’ facility with such compositional tools; an intimate familiarity bred by decades’ worth of immersion, a level of exposure that allows them to turn what could easily become pretentious and showy into a singular whole, equally accesible and experimental, conceptually developed and frantic.” – RVA Mag

“…quickfire bursts of hardcore-driven, psychedelic pop metal that somehow manages to combine unrelenting heaviness with pop hooks and a good dose of prog-rock madness thrown in for good measure.” – Echoes And Dust

ILLUSTRATIONS Launch Pre-Order for Debut Album “In Vain” * Announce Dates at SXSW

Stream “Never Feeling” from ILLUSTRATIONS exclusively @ MetalSucks!

“This electric sander to the skull of a song is gloriously unstable; it moves from circle-pit-inciting speed to head-bobbing groove to elephants marching maliciousness, all in under three minutes. This is good shit.” – Metal Sucks

“The first few riffs in “Heaven” suggest straight-ahead metallic hardcore of the HM-2 collector’s variety. There’s a big, strutting mosh groove; the guitar and bass seethe with mids; the vocalist sounds like he might not have a tongue. But then, about halfway into the tune, one of the guitarists unexpectedly takes off into delay-pedal melody-land. Good cop/bad cop dynamics are endemic to the meeting points between metal and hardcore, but Illustrations play them more subtly than most. Wise choice.” – Invisible Oranges

“In Vain is an onslaught of caustic death metal growls, bonecrushing guitar riffs, and unrelenting percussion; all executed with exemplary punk breeziness.” – The Needle Drop

Ex-Cult Announce “Midnight Passenger” LP Out April 15th

Listen To ‘Mr Fantasy’ Here!

Ex-Cult’s Midnight Passenger is the result of a never ending obsession with the open road. It’s the sound of five people spending the last year in countless dive bars, disgusting motel rooms and on dozens of dirty floors.  Since recording with Ty Segall in 2012 the band hasn’t come up for air, putting four US tours and tons of weekend trips under their belt with the likes of OBN III’s, Captive and Ty Segall.

It was in these dive bars across the USA that Ex-Cult truly found their sound. While some of the songs were played for audiences as early as January of 2013, it wasn’t until a West Coast tour in June that the blue print for MidnightPassenger really started to take form. Taking pieces of every tour back home with them, the band began to hone a sound that captured the desperation of the first record, while being careful to integrate new techniques of negative noise.

Recorded by Doug Easley in January of 2014, MidnightPassenger is comprised of ten songs that were meant to be heard together, each one following a different, damaged storyline. The buzz-saw guitars, kraut rock rhythm section and sneering vocals are all still present, but with Midnight Passenger, Ex-Cult has added a few layers of psychedelic slime to their sound.

Midnight Passenger is out on Goner Records on April 15th 2014.

Ex-Cult are confirmed for SXSW.

Pitchfork exclusively premieres Incan Abraham “Concorde” – album out 4/8

Pitchfork Exclusively Premieres The First Track “Concorde” HERE

National Tour Starts on 2/9 in San Francisco + SXSW
(details below)

“…some Grizzly Bear harmonies, spindly Beach House guitar figures, and Tame Impala psych wiggles. More overtly “pop” than its predecessor without leaning on pop signifiers…the song’s a luxurious thing that makes forward progress seem pretty effortless.” – Pitchfork

Friends since kindergarten, the members of Incan Abraham (Giuliano Pizzulo, Teddy Cafaro, Spencer Mandel) channel their fingerpainted past in their debut LP, fusing Lost Boys tribal energy with guitar, synth, and harmony vocal soundscapes that arc and circle like bikes in desert washes. After spending college marooned on opposite coasts, the friends reunited on a whim in a secluded house in upstate New York for a weekend that turned into a month spent writing music and contemplating their shared histories of childhood escapism and pop nostalgia.

Returning to their native Los Angeles, they seasoned their sound in the arid air and eclectic east side music scene, until a fateful encounter with their producer-to-be and sonic sherpa Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, FIDLAR, Fool’s Gold).  The resulting album Tolerance will be released on April 8th on White Iris Records.

Today, Pitchfork exclusively premiered their single “Concorde”, which you can hear HERE. Now, after hyped performances at festivals (SXSW, CMJ, and Desert Daze) and three critically acclaimed EPs (Springhouse, JAXart 2012), the foursome is set to tour starting February 9th in San Francisco and share their upcoming album in a live setting and will play multiple times at Austin’s SXSW.

Davey Suicide Lives Up to the Hype in Pittsburgh

“So, did we live up to the hype?”  This is what Davey Suicide questions me after his bands’ set at Altar Bar in Pittsburgh.  I definitely think Davey and his band lived up to the hype and I personally had a great time experiencing an up and coming band making all the right moves and following their passion.  With a sound and visual aspect part Manson part NIN all electro goth fury, Davey Suicide provides what many bands have forgotten in this day and age…the show.  They prove that a band on a budget can still provide quite a bang for the buck ( Davey and company actually did a kickstarter campaign to get a lot of their stage lights and set).  Davey is  very ambitious, intelligent, well spoken, and  poised to make a name in a very tough business as you will see in this interview…

Watch Lions In The Street’s Video For ‘So Far Away’

Watch The Video For ‘So Far Away’ Now!!!

Rock ‘n’ roll, direct and with no qualifiers, is Lions In The Street’s business. What sets theVancouver band apart from the defanged mainstream is that their modern denim-and- leather heaviness is anchored in the raucousness of the Rolling Stones and the gravitas of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac. Over the past decade, Chris Kinnon (lead guitar, vocals), Sean Casey (rhythm, acoustic and slide guitars), Enzo Figliuzzi (bass) and Jeff Kinnon (drums, vocals) have become masters of coarse rock and strident roll, both of which the group’s new On The Lam EP has in spades (February 19, Beverly Martel Records).

On The Lam is really our first release on a proper label, which is kind of sad since that should have happened in 2005-2006,” says Chris. “We made a great debut record for TVT Records, and everyone was happy with what we’d accomplished in the studio, but before it was released everything fell apart.”

This cluster-cuss situation intensified when TVT hit financial hard times and clung stubbornly to the band’s rights while refusing to let them finish the record. Legal hassles followed, sucking up money and preventing them from signing with other interested labels, which set Lions in the Street on a course towards independence: the band’s priority became touring, crafting new music, and working menial and blue-collar day jobs to pay down their label debts.

Jump to 2010, when a self-released debut album emerged. Those that found the grassroots effort heard greatness brewing. JamBase observed, “This is rock with a direct line back to the nasty blues, jump tunes, and country boogie that birthed the whole damn genre. Untamed, direct, and bristling with hairy masculinity, Lions in the Street play rock like the cause it is.”

2013 finally finds the band back on a good road, their eyes set firmly on bluer horizons, and exploring the heavier dimensions of their sound with Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Von Bondies, Beachwood Sparks). One big plus isLions in the Street’s new relationship with L.A.-based independent label Beverly Martel Records, owned by music business veteran Sandy Roberton of Worlds End Management. Roberton’s dedication to independence and artistic integrity is a perfect fit for Lions In The Street.

They are a fitting new act for a man who worked Chess Record’s catalog in the UK in the 60s, managed the great John Martyn, and produced the hugely influential Steeleye Span. Beverly Martel’s sister label IAMSOUND has been very successful identifying emerging talent (Lord Huron, Florence and the Machine, Fool’s Gold), and one expects on the basis of On the Lam that Lions In The Street are another in this line.

“We kept at it, sometimes foolishly, and this new EP is the culmination of all our experience,” says Chris. “Now we want to do it for the right reasons, and I don’t know if we could have said that in 2006. You develop idols like anybody else, and just because your goals aren’t a BMW and a mansion, that doesn’t mean your intentions are completely noble. Everyone who makes music wants recognition of some sort and a good life, but at every point we’ve been prevented from compromising our integrity to get these things. So there’s a certain authenticity we can’t really take credit for [laughs] —it’s a humility that’s been forced on us.”

The challenges Lions In The Street have persevered through have forged a tough, dedicated survivor’s strength—this is a band that’s been at it for a spell but whose hard road has only intensified their edge and music.

“We’ve always been a little ornery,” says Chris. “I grew up listening to The Clash, so maybe that’s why. I dig The Faces, but it all starts from a darker, heavier place.”

Cuban Metal Bands To Stage Historic Performance at SXSW

Escape, Ancestor and Agonizer to be the first Cuban metal bands to ever perform in the U.S.

Three Cuban metal bands landed in Miami on Sunday and will travel to Austin, TX to play the first ever show by a Cuban rock or metal band on U.S. soil on Friday night at SXSW. The three bands, Escape, Ancestor and Agonizer, have been working for months with SXSW and an organization called Unblock the Rock to secure the proper visas and paperwork, as well as to raise enough money to make the trip. The organization’s goal is to use heavy metal to help bridge the cultural and political gap between the U.S. and Cuba, which are separated by less than 90 miles of open water but have had virtually no diplomatic ties for the last 50 years. Last month, Unblock the Rock began selling a compilation of songs called The Red Album, which includes tracks by artists including EyeHateGod, the Supersuckers and Black Tusk, to help pay for the legal and travel costs.

Tracey Noelle Luz, who started Unblock the Rock after spending months in Cuba filming a documentary about Escape called They Will Be Heard, flew to Miami to reunite with the band on Sunday and document their arrival.

“This is really incredible,” she said. “I’m so amazed that we were able to make this happen. The band is walking around like they’re in a dream. It wouldn’t have been possible without all the donations and the help of the artists on the compilations, sponsors lawyers, congressmen and especially the people at SXSW.”

The battle is not quite yet over though, and Unblock the Rock is still soliciting donations and selling copies of the Red Album here ( to pay for the bands’ travel and expenses while in the U.S.

Once the three bands are in Austin, they will be participating in a panel discussion, “Red Menace: Cuba’s Heavy Metal Underground” at 3:30 PM on Friday, March 15th at the Convention Center in Room 11AB that will be moderated by David Peisner, who traveled to Cuba last year to write about the country’s extreme metal scene for Spin. (Read the story here: Then, on Friday night the three bands will take the stage (Escape at 8pm, Ancestor at 11pm, Agonizer at 12am) at The Jr. (603 Red River St.) for the first ever Cuban metal show on American soil. They will share the stage with two metal bands from Brazil, Eminence and Attomica, as well as one from Mexico, Motor.

Do not miss this truly historic night of what must be the loudest, wildest cultural diplomacy of all time.

Les Mentettes to Warm Up SXSW

“Few bands come around that are so charming…[Les Mentettes are] bringing back that nostalgic, lovey, swing-yer-partner feeling.” -MTV iggy – Bands We Like

Lauded for their charming, inventive style, indie pop group, Les Mentettes, has shared the stage with Pulp (UK), Of Montreal (USA), Tahiti Boy & The Palmtree Family (France) and Moreno Veloso (Brazil). They’ve been praised by MTV and Rolling Stone and they’ve been invited to play this year’s SXSW Music Festival.

Les Mentettes makes dreamy indie pop studded with off-beat instruments, catchy yet haunting hooks and a style that both nods to and transcends their influences. Led by singers Adrián Rivoira and Eugenia Brusa, the Argentinian band has deep roots. The two started out playing together as kids, performing at school concerts in the early 90s. Coming from very different musical backgrounds, the Rivoira and Brusa as well as their bandmates have a myriad of influences that range from Ziggy Stardust to Nina Simone and Brian Wilson.

In 2008, they formed Les Mentettes and released their first full-length album, Let’s Mentettes. The following year, music conductor Manuloop arranged their songs for orchestra. They recorded Les Mentettes Orchestra with over thirty musicians, bringing a variety of instruments to the group’s sound, including, trombone, oboe and glockenspiel. In 2011, the band, now a hybrid of rock band and orchestra, released their third album, Song for an Imaginary Film. Their latest EP release, Bouh!, is a return to their sparkling indie-pop roots. Whether playing with an orchestra or not, Les Mentettes exudes warmth and a beguiling playfulness.

Praise for Les Mentettes

“Few bands come around that are so charming…[Les Mentettes are] bringing back that nostalgic, lovey, swing-yer-partner feeling.”-MTV iggy – Bands We Like

“Les Mentettes take the collapsed capillaries of late ’90s psych-pop and flush them with new adrenaline. But what they’ve created goes beyond what we recognize in their roots. It’s cinematic, it’s poetic, it’s consuming.” –Dingus On Music

“Songs For An Imaginary Film. Conceptually defined as the soundtrack of a “romantic-drama film,” … the delicacy of [Rivoira Adrian’s] voice complementing that of Eugenia Brusa and beauty of the arrangements of a most striking band…”

Golden Bloom to Play SXSW Green Room Music Source Showcase

Golden Bloom will bring their sharp melodies, vivid guitar work, and intelligent, energetic songwriting to this year’s SXSW Music Festival. The indie pop quartet will play the Green Room Music Source Showcase on Fri. Mar. 15 at TenOak.

Stay tuned for more details on this SXSW showcase!

In various configurations, Golden Bloom has performed at CMJ, NXNE and SXSW, and shared the stage with David Bazan, Guster, and Robyn Hitchcock. Over the lifetime of the band, tastemakers like SPIN, Magnet, Under the Radar, and Daytrotter have praised Golden Bloom’s musical and songwriting prowess. Golden Bloom will be touring to support No Day Like Today for most of 2013.

Praise for Golden Bloom:
“…Fogel produces 6 stellar songs on his March to the Drums EP. …Golden Bloom’s ideologies follow a path to which more artists should aspire. …March to the Drums’s infectious and mostly cheerful music have a darker lyrical overtone to them.” –Stereo Subversion

“Under the moniker Golden Bloom, Fogel constructs intelligent contemporary indie power pop that rivals like-minded peers such as Wilco,Matt Pond PA, and Ben Kweller.” –Ardent Studios

“[No Day Like Today is] five tracks of unrelenting awesomeness that I always suspected was lurking under the surface, but I didn’t expect it to all come out at once! This is as close to a perfect indie-pop record as is humanly possible.” -Music. Defined.

“Fogel’s music has always had a more contemporary pop sound than your standard indie artist, and I think it’s fared him well. No more is this apparent than on his new EP, No Day Like Today, which is a notable leap forward for the artist.” -Andy Fenstermaker – FensePost

” … the hooky, punchy, fantastic “Shadow of a Man” (one of Fogel’s best songs yet) while the moodier, darker “White Whale” adds a darker element to Fogel’s usual bright pop tunes.”
-Dagger Magazine

“The plaintive piano melody sets the tone for Golden Bloom’s latest single Deliver It For Me, a peaceful lament of a life remembered.”
-Mad Mackerel

“The five songs on [No Day Like Today] carry on the fine tradition that Fogel started as a solo act, so you are getting high quality musicianship, well-crafted melodies, and sharp lyrics that “explore thorny emotions with keen insight and understanding”.”
-Now This ROCKS!

On the “No Day Like Today” EP: “Golden Bloom keeps the clutter at bay, vividly waking us from those pre-Holiday blues with a shining nugget of pop like nothing you’ll hear on the radio.”
-Hear, Hear!

“…the three full tunes are so bursting with poptastic zest, that on one play the sale is made…he strikes gold on “You Go On (& On)”…It’s incredibly well recorded, with strident, Todd Rundgren piano bolstered by acoustic strumming, gathering synth, bright arrangement, and total vocal hooks (Fogel’s forte), that you fall into it like a well…”We Have Grown” is no slouch, either, with a similar buoyancy/urgency, given Fogel’s clear, pleasant, sincerity backed by more piano and chorus strings. Fabulous; if he’s got a sophomore LP as good, watch out.”–The Big Takeover

9 out of 10 stars “A pop record all the way with hooks that are both occasionally obvious yet totally effective.” –Tim Hinely, Blurt

“[Golden Bloom] delivered one of my favorite albums of the year. Endlessly enchanting, Fogel’s ear for power-pop melodies and eyebrow-raising lyrics stuffs this album with one good song after another.” –Jim Testa, Jersey Beat

Drag City Film Distribution announced today the May 1st theatrical release of THE SOURCE FAMILY (previously titled The Source), the feature length documentary directed by Maria Demopoulos and Jodi Wille about Father Yod and The Source Family’s radical experiment in ’70s utopian living. This treasure trove of interviews with never-before-seen home movies, photographs, and original music created by The Source Family themselves provides an unparalleled insider’s view into the cult/commune phenomenon and wild social experimentation of the early ’70s – as well as a being a wholly unique California story.

The Source Family’s outlandish lifestyle, popular celebrity-hangout restaurant, rock band, and beautiful women made them the darlings of Hollywood’s Sunset Strip; but their outsider ideals, controversial spiritual leader Father Yod, along with his 13 wives, instigated local authorities. They fled to Hawaii, leading to their dramatic demise. Years later, family members surface and the rock band reforms, revealing how their time with Father Yod shaped their lives in the most unexpected ways. These personal accounts, along with interviews with outsiders, make up the interviews in the film. However, the story is largely cinematic, expressed through the use of the group’s extensive film and audio archive maintained by Isis Aquarian, one of Father’s wives, Family documentarian, and a central character in the documentary (as well as being associate producer). The film’s soundtrack is composed entirely of original Source Family music produced from 1971-1975.

THE SOURCE FAMILY is inspired by the cult-classic book The Source: The Story of Father Yod, Ya Ho Wa 13 and The Source Family written by Isis Aquarian and Electricity Aquarian and edited by Jodi Wille (Process Media, 2007). It received extensive praise in outlets including The New York Times Magazine, Los Angeles Times, PAPER, NPR, and LA Weekly.

THE SOURCE FAMILY, then titled The Source, was selected to world-premiere as one of eight documentary feature films in competition at SXSW 2012 and has played numerous festivals since, including sold-out screenings at SXSW, Silverdocs, Hot Docs Doc Soup, San Francisco International Film Festival, and the Seattle Film Festival. Other festivals and special screenings include the True/False Boon Dawdle and Burning Man.

Watch the official THE SOURCE FAMILY trailer here:

THE SOURCE FAMILY will premiere at the IFC Center in New York City on Wed. May 1st. Other premiere dates and related special events will be announced in the coming weeks.

THE SOURCE FAMILY soundtrack is scheduled for release in May 2013 via Drag City Records.

International SXSW Performing Artist The Away Days Release New Single

Istanbul’s dreamy indie rock quartet, The Away Days are at the beginning of a beautiful dream. They’ve been added to the roster of amazing bands to see at this year’s South By Southwest Music Festival. Their shimmery guitars and melodic hooks place them in the global community of indie rock and SXSW will put them up on the global stage. They’ve already drawn the attention of The Guardian, KEXP and other international press and adding to that the release of “Dressing Room” off their debut EP How Did It All Start will surely turn the spotlights their way. With frontman, Oguzcan Ozen’s voice perfectly balanced between croon and moan and the catchy, heart-swelling anthemic music behind it, “Dressing Room” is a tune that won’t soon be forgotten.

Take one spin through Etsy’s many artists from Istanbul and you’ll see beautiful craftsmanship and gorgeous work. It’s an easy assumption to make, then, that the city would abound with well-crafted, detailed indie rock, an art form that often goes hand-in-hand with this type of craftsmanship. While indie rock quartet, The Away Days, surely fit the bill, they are a minority in the Istanbul scene. No matter. The Away Days have gained some recognition in their hometown, but their sights are set on the global stage. This dreamy indie rock band is more at home with the likes of shimmery guitars and melodic hooks associated with UK bands like The Foals and The Maccabees, hail from the global community of indie rock, rather than a local scene.

The Away Days have impressed with their debut EP How Did it All Start. They plan to tour The UK at the start of 2013 and will start recording their debut record with Jag Jago, producer of The Maccabees’ latest record.

Flume Signs With Mom + Pop in North America

2012 was an exciting year for Flume, as he topped the Australian iTunes charts and played countless festivals in his home country. He recently sold out his first-ever show in the UK, to the point where it had to be moved to a larger venue. But 2012 has nothing on 2013, as the 21-year-old wunderkind producer takes his music worldwide. We’re thrilled to announce that Flume has signed with Mom + Pop and will be releasing his debut self-titled record in the US, Canada, and Mexico on February 19th (Flume is released in Australia via Future Classic.). He’s sharing a stream of album track “Bring You Down feat. George Maple” to whet the appetite, premiered earlier today on The FADER. Also, those attending SXSW will get a chance to see Flume in action as he comes to the US for the first time since his 9 whirlwind shows during CMJ.

At age 13, Sydney’s Flume got his first taste of production by finding a music production program in a cereal box. This discovery began his obsessions with all things synthetic, and started his addiction for plug-ins, sample packs and vintage analogue hardware. Taking a no-holds-barred attitude to music creation, Flume learned to find inspiration in a wide variety of sources and scenes, distilling his sound into a melodic bass heavy style that is uniquely his own. Now, 7 years later, Flume’s soulful blend of lush beats, chopped vocals, saw synths, and intricate percussion is garnering mass amounts of attention.
