eOne Music Signs Katey Sagal: New Album Due in Nov

ACTRESS AND SINGER/SONGWRITER KATEY SAGAL TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM, COVERED ONNOVEMBER 12, 2013

First album in 9 years features duet with Jackson Browne and songs of Ryan Adams, Gillian Welch, Tom Petty, Ray LaMontagne and more

(New York, NY) – Actress and singer/songwriter Katey Sagal announces the release of her new album, Covered, on Entertainment One Music on November 12, 2013.  Covered, is Sagal’s first studio album in 9 years, and features a duet with Jackson Browne on Steve Earle’s heartbreaking song “Goodbye.”  The album also features covers of songs by noted songwriters Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell, Ron Sexsmith, Tom Petty, Ryan Adams and more.

Although widely known these days for her multi-faceted role as Gemma Teller Morrow on hit FX series “Sons of Anarchy,” Sagal has had a long musical career in addition to her acting career.  She has sung backup vocals for Bette Midler, Bob Dylan, Tanya Tucker, Gene Simmons and others.  Sagal has released two solo albums to date, 1994’s Well…. and 2004’s Room.  She has also contributed music to the “Sons of Anarchy” soundtrack.

Season six of “Sons of Anarchy,” the highest-rated program in the history of FX, debuted on Tuesday, September 10.

About the album, Sagal says, “Covered is my third solo record. My two previous records were mostly original compositions. This one is not. I was tired of waiting for myself to write, and anxious to make another album.”

On Covered, Sagal is joined by The Forest Rangers, the “house band” of “Sons of Anarchy,” led by the show’s music supervisor and musical director Bob Thiele. Thiele, along with noted songwriter Tonio K, also composed the one original composition on Covered, titled “Follow the River.

Sagal adds, “Covered is the combined effort of Bob and myself, discovering and interpreting an eclectic mix of music that I connected with. Some of the songs reflect on my younger life, and some from music I listen to now…material from Ryan Adams, Ray LaMontagne, Steve Earle, etc. All have personal meaning and reason for me to want to sing them.”

Track listing for Covered:
1. For Free (Joni Mitchell)
2. Roses & Cigarettes (Ray LaMontagne)
3. I Love You But I Don’t Know What To Say (Ryan Adams)
4. Gonna Take A Miracle (Laura Nyro)
5. Free Fallin’ (Tom Petty)
6. Goodbye (Steve Earle) (With Jackson Browne)
7. Secret Heart (Ron Sexsmith)
8. Follow The River (Bob Thiele/Tonio K)
9. Orphan Girl (Gillian Welch)
10. For a Dancer (Jackson Browne)

Discovery Channel’s THE DEVIL’S RIDE to Premiere ATTIKA 7 Tracks

Tune in to The Discovery Channel’s new hit motorcycle club series, ‘The Devil’s Ride’, next week for ATTIKA 7’s world premiere of select tracks appearing on the band’s upcoming full-length album, Blood Of My Enemies. The episode, featuring a previously recorded live performance with exclusive, never-before-heard tracks, will air on June 5, 2012 at 10pm ET/PT. The series often features ATTIKA 7 guitarist Rusty Coones and will include music from the band’s new album throughout the rest of the season.

ATTIKA 7 and Loudwire.com recently revealed the brand new track, ‘Devil’s Daughter’. Fans can head to Loudwire.com to listen to the track now at this location.

ATTIKA 7’s new album, Blood Of My Enemies, is set for a July 31, 2012 release and features ex-Biohazard vocalist Evan Seinfeld, lead guitarist, notable songwriter and famed (Sons of Anarchy) motorcycle builder Rusty Coones, and bassist Tony Campos, founding member of Static X, who also currently performs in Soulfly, Prong, Possessed, Asesino and Ministry. The band recorded Blood of My Enemies with legendary producer MUDROCK (Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack).

Blood of My Enemies is a brutal slab of unrelenting hard rock, with the initial groundwork laid by Rusty Coones in the confines of a federal penitentiary. It was in this unforgiving environment that he penned the songs that would eventually become the band’s uncompromising debut.

ATTIKA 7: Guitarist Rusty Coones to Appear on Episode Two of the New DISCOVERY CHANNEL Motorcycle Club Show ‘The Devil’s Ride’

20120510-095258.jpg

ATTIKA 7 guitarist Rusty Coones is set to appear on this season of the Discovery Channel’s new motorcycle club series, ‘The Devil’s Ride’. The show premiered yesterday evening and serves as a window into the world of motorcycle clubs, featuring members of San Deigo’s Laffing Devils. Rusty Coones is scheduled to appear in Episode 2 next week, and ATTIKA 7 is scheduled to appear in one of the later episodes as a band. The music of ATTIKA 7 is set to be featured in select episodes throughout the series as well. Entertainment Weekly recently posted an exclusive preview of the show.

ATTIKA 7 is set to release their debut full-length album, Blood of My Enemies on July 31, 2012 with Rocket Science Ventures. The fan-dubbed “super group” features ex-Biohazard vocalist Evan Seinfeld, lead guitarist, notable songwriter and famed (Sons of Anarchy) motorcycle builder Rusty Coones, and bassist Tony Campos, founding member of Static X, who also currently performs in Soulfly, Prong, Possessed, Asesino and Ministry. ATTIKA 7 combines evil sounding riffs, melodic vocal lines, with old school guitar solos and undeniable grooves into a sonic frenzy of outlaw biker counter culture.

ATTIKA 7 will take to the road this summer with an ‘in your face’ live show combining all that is good in life: Bikes, Girls and Rock n’ Roll. Stay tuned for tour dates coming soon.

Rock n Roll Musical Devil’s Carnival: The Next Rocky Horror?

Tuesday night was a truly special evening in Pittsburgh. As a big time film buff, wishful musician, and pseudo-artist, I was very excited yet had some trepidation as to what to expect at The Devil’s Carnival film premiere held in Dormont at The Hollywood Theater. Memories of seeing movies there as a child and, many years later, the band I managed (D-76) played some shows there, I had high expectations. I am pleased to say that the theater is in good shape and The Devil’s Carnival was certainly held at the right venue. The whole experience proved to be a once in a lifetime event.

Our evening began with the film’s star Briana Evigan giving my friends at Steelesque Movement an exclusive interview. I cannot tell you how awesome Briana is in words. She was gracious, unpretentious, down to earth, and downright gorgeous. We had an awesome time talking about music and her upcoming film projects. (She was also kind enough to give my friends at East Coast Horror Group some time as well- be sure to check out J.C.’s audio interview).

Briana, Darren Bousman, and Terrance Zdunich were all on hand to answer questions from the crowd before the film and after the film. They spent quite a bit of time shaking hands, taking pictures, and signing autographs well into the wee hours of the morning. Their tour of cities is a grassroots effort to create projects without major studios and executives influencing the purity of their art.

The Devil’s Carnival could best be described as an experimental short horror film directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (of Saw fame) that stars Sean Patrick Flannery, Briana Evigan, Jessica Lowndes, Paul Sorvino, and Terrance Zdunich. Bousman and writer/actor Terrance Zdunich had previously worked on the musical film Repo! The Genetic Opera; many within that cast return including Sorvino, Alexa Vega, Bill Moseley and Nivek Ogre. In the same vein as Rocky Horror (but less campy), the film contains extremely talented actors who shot the entire thing in seven days. The music by Zdunich was not only impressive but awe inspiring. His performance as Lucifer and his singing voice (thanks for the live demo!) proves fascinating and entertaining. Using Aesop’s Fables as a basis for three vignettes that intertwine at The Devil’s Carnival leaves the audience begging for episode two (apparently already written along with part of three). The basis of the side show characters at the carnival gripped the audience immediately. Dayton Callie (best known as police chief Wayne Unser of Sons of Anarchy) was mesmerizing as The Ticket Keeper and I can only hope we see more of him in the next episodes. Briana Evigan’s musical, dance and theatric talents were in full swing as Ms. Merrywood. She is truly a talented up and comer who has an extremely bright future ahead of her (We can’t say enough good things about her!). Also be on the lookout for strong performances by Ivan Moody from Five Finger Death Punch, Shawn Crahan of Slipknot as The Tamer, and the lovely Jessica Lowndes as Tamara.

This film follows a tried and true method Bousman and Zdunich developed with Repo! The Genetic Opera. I believe that with the right underground marketing this R and R musical has the ability to gain the cult like status and following of similar pieces before it such as Rocky Horror. The tunes are catchy (non “show-tuny”), the film presentation spot on, and the singing and acting top notch.
