THE OVERSEER to release sophomore album, Rest and Let Go

Arkansas hard rockers THE OVERSEER are announcing the release of their sophomore album, Rest and Let Go, available March 4via Solid State Records.

Rest and Let Go finds the band re-teaming with Matt McClellen at Glow in the Dark Studios, where they had recorded their 2012 debut, We Search, We Dig. The celebrated album drew praise from taste-makers such as Revolver, who characterized it as “heavily textured metalcore that balances brutality with beauty,” while Outburn declared, “THE OVERSEER has burst onto the scene with a head-turning and memorable debut.”

Much like the band itself, Rest and Let Go, is bursting with life. It’s a fearless, ferocious album that bubbles with urgency and vitality. It’s ironic, then, that the album centers so intensely on the polar opposite: Death. “It kinda creeps its way into everyone’s life at some point, and it found a way to creep into our record,” says guitarist/vocalist Darren King. “Death is such a big part of life and unfortunately we’ve had our fair share of dealing with it. I guess that’s just where a few of us were and are.”

Fans can get a first taste of the album today in the form of the tense album opener “Fragile Wings,” which is streaming for free. “’Fragile Wings’ is a song that really captures a lot of elements,” King explains. “It’s driving, but laid back. It’s heavy, but ambient. It’s dark, but has some presence of hope. She’s not sure what she wants to be, but it kinda works for her.”

“Fragile Wings” is also available as a free download for anyone who pre-orders the album.

THE OVERSEER spent much of the last two years on the road supporting We Search, We Dig and laying the groundwork for Rest and Let Go, including tours alongside AUGUST BURNS RED, OF MICE & MEN, IMPENDING DOOM, SHAI HULUD and more. But hitting the road hard is nothing new for the band, who cemented their road warrior status back in their days as an independent band, when they played 400 shows in their first two years together.

Now, as one of Solid State Records’ “new breed” of bands, THE OVERSEER are primed to make the transition from up-and-comers to lynchpins of a reinvigorated scene. Their goals, however, remain the same: “To just keep playing music and keep being honest with ourselves and our fans, grow our fan base and hopefully turn new people on to what we think is good music,” says King, adding with a laugh, “Oh, and become the biggest band in the world. Duh.”

MY HEART TO FEAR Release Lyric Video for “Dear Mr. White”

Pennsylvania metalers MY HEART TO FEAR are set to release their Solid State Records debut, Lost Between Brilliance and Insanity, December 4th. Through a partnership with Hot Topic, physical copies of the release will be exclusively found in any of the chain’s more than 600 stores, while the digital release will hit all traditional digital outlets.

Building anticipation for the EP, the band has released a lyric video for “Dear Mr. White,” a track that represents the band’s approach on Lost Between… – technical riffs, swaggering vocals and sky-high choruses, elements that helped MY HEART TO FEAR build its fervent fanbase over several self-released efforts.

The Williamsport, PA-based act hails from the same geographic region and musical circles that spawned a number of metalcore successes in recent years – most notably genre giants AUGUST BURNS RED, in addition to the likes of TEXAS IN JULY (Equal Vision) and THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE (eOne Entertainment). While a less confident band may look to steal a page or two out of those artists’ playbooks, MY HEART TO FEAR are intent on forging their own sound.

“When we write music we don’t stick to any one formula,” explains vocalist Trevor Pool. “We don’t write to please a certain group of people or to fit into specific genres. Nor do we sit down with a preconceived idea of what a song should or should not sound like. Instead we allow the music itself to reveal subconscious and spiritual paths. Rather than deriving inspiration solely from music, we find influence in the world around us and aim to transpose these non-musical entities into the musical aspects of a song.”

For MY HEART TO FEAR, their music and their career are built on four pillars of support that have helped the band push on and persevere: Family. Faith. Pride. Brotherhood. It’s a saying that has become something of a mantra for the band and demonstrates their belief that, for as much as they believe in their own abilities, they wouldn’t be where they are without the support of others.

BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE debut video for ‘The Time Bender’

Metal provocateurs BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE are excited to share their new music video for “The Time Bender.” The video – debuting exclusively via Metal Injection – comes less than a week before the release of the band’s anticipated fifth album, I AM – set to drop in stores and online September 18th from Solid State Records.

“The video is consistent with the look and feel of the photos for this album,” explains ARCHETYPE mastermind Seth Hecox. ”Both are dark, grimy, inner-city. I was really drawn to the atmosphere created in Sin City, and that vibe worked perfectly with the sound that was captured on I AM.”

“Our good friend David Prindle directed the video,” adds Hecox. “He completely understood the vision I had for it and, luckily, he is a true artist and came through with lots of great details that I’d never dreamed of. He made it a truly graphic novel style video. People will love the video because it’s fun, it’s funny and you can tell we care about making unique, quality art. We hope everyone catches on to all the subtleties of names and character traits!”

After building a career on dazzlingly artistic metal offerings and fresh off their most inventive album yet in 2011’s Celestial Completion, BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE have created their most baffling album yet in I Am. It’s an album that is baffling first and foremost because it’s not meant to be baffling. An album that is less about reinventing heavy music than it is reinventing BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE. Which isn’t to say listeners won’t find the band doing its usual mind-warping and genre-bending, but as Hecox explains, the point of this album wasn’t to transcend the artform of metal music, it was to master it.

“I AM is 100% head banging riffs,” Hecox says. “Gone are the sitars and horns of Celestial Completion. Instead, we’ve crafted an album full of the heaviest and most technical songs we’ve ever written.”

Recorded with producer Shane Frisby (BURY YOUR DEAD, THE GHOST INSIDE), I AM, as the title suggests, is also a statement of an album that puts a new stamp on who BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE is and what it stands for following an inter-band shakeup – one that cleared the path for Hecox to assemble a true dream team of musicians around him.

After seven years and four acclaimed albums with longtime label Solid State Records, BTA is in the unique situation of being an accomplished veteran band with a roster comprised largely of young, hungry, wildly talented musicians poised for their first real test on the national front. It’s a fact that isn’t lost on the band who are embracing this perceived new lease on life as an opportunity to both reinvigorate the band’s wide fan base and tap into a huge cross-section of metal fans who previously might have balked at BTA’s unbridled, manic creativity.

Metal phenoms FIT FOR A KING sign with Solid State Records

Solid State Records is pleased to announce the addition of surging Texas metal buzz band FIT FOR A KING to its growing roster of trendsetting acts.

The hotly tipped metalcore band has been elbowing its way onto the national scene as a full-time touring outfit, cultivating fans at an alarming clip with a crushingly heavy, artful take on the genre that gives subtle tips of the hat to bands as diverse as THE ACACIA STRAIN, CIRCA SURVIVE and LINKIN PARK. The band’s passionate music, coupled with an explosive live show, has made FIT FOR A KING a sensation in the independent music scene, as evidenced by the 600,000+ fans who viewed their debut video on YouTube.

To tide over that army of devotees until their Solid State debut is ready for release, FIT FOR A KING are unveiling a new video today for fan favorite track “Descendants.” Shot primarily in an Oklahoma City venue while the band was on tour with ICE NINE KILLS, the video captures FIT FOR A KING in all of their raging, kinetic glory.

“‘Descendants’ is a good introduction to FFAK because it’s energetic and in your face. It is one of our heaviest songs but it has a lot of groove,” explains guitarist Justin Hamra. “We shot most of the video during the show, and then worked until about 2 am getting single shots, and then had a 12 hour drive the following day to make it to the next show in Tennessee.” All in a day’s work for one of the underground metal scene’s most buzzing bands.

After a few years of relentless DIY touring and one well-received, independently released album,
FIT FOR A KING are finally reaping the benefits of their hard work. In September, the band will
head into the studio with esteemed producer Andreas Magnusson (OH, SLEEPER, HASTE THE DAY, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) to record its debut album, due out in early 2013 on Solid State Records. It is at once the fulfillment of a longtime dream for FIT FOR A KING, and just the first step in what is sure to sure to be an incredible journey for a band with massive potential.

“Words cannot even express how excited we are to join the Solid State family,” Hamra says. “We grew up listening to Solid State bands and we always talked about being on the label and how amazing it would be. And for it to actually happen is one the best feelings we’ve had as a band.”

“For us to be signed to this label is a massive step for this band,” he adds. “We’ve been waiting and holding off on labels for so long until we felt we had the right one. Our mission is just to work hard and put out music that we are proud of and that people want to listen to. We know we are all sent by God to do what we are doing in this band and we want to do our best to make every effort to be the best we can be.”
