Middle Class Rut To Hit The Road This April With Chevelle + Headlining Tour in February, March

“Their sound is nothing short of colossal, and one that a mere two‐piece shouldn’t be able to create, combining the boisterous swagger and pomp of Jane’s Addiction and the feral fury of Rage Against the Machine.” – Kerrang!

We are proud to announce that the Sacramento, CA-based duo Middle Class Rut will be embarking on an exciting new tour this April where they will open for Chicago rock actChevelle.

Middle Class Rut has toured with Chevelle in the past, as well as with the likes of Muse, Social Distortion, Them Crooked Vultures, Alice In Chains, 30 Seconds To Mars andLinkin Park, among others. Before hitting the road with Chevelle in April, MCR will also perform a string of headlining dates with Dinosaur Pile Up and Brick and Mortar; see all dates below.

Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Zack Lopez and vocalist/drummer Sean Stockham, Middle Class Rut raised the bar with their latest release, June 2013’s Pick Up Your Head, which sees the duo opening up their sound. “We realized we’d exhausted everything we could do with drums, guitar, and vocals,” Lopez explains. “Once we decided to take an ‘anything goes’ approach, the songs poured out. We were freer with layering and didn’t worry if we couldn’t reproduce it live, as long as we captured the music with the highest energy possible.”

Social Distortion Bring So-Cal Cowpunk to Pittsburgh’s Stage AE

Social Distortion Stage AE June 26, 2013

Some things always remain constant:  At any public event in Pittsburgh someone is going to start a Steeler chant.  In the summer you can count on Jimmy Buffet to come to town and a giant party to ensue regardless of musical taste.  And Mike Ness will always be the king of Southern California cowpunk due to a couple little songs called “Ball and Chain”, “Story of My Life”, and a cover of Cash’s “Ring of Fire”.

The other constant is that Social D (as most know them) are always going to put on a straight forward kick ass punk rock show packed with great tunes and a hard drinking time.  Pittsburgh may be far from the sunny beaches of southern California, but the vibe was damn close yesterday as the pin-up girl wanna-be’s, gear heads, tattoo enthusiasts, and counter culture of the tri-state area came to rock out with the legends of punk.  And Mike Ness (lead vocals, lead guitar),  Jonny Wickersham (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Brent Harding (bass, backing vocals), and David Hidalgo, Jr.(drums) did not disappoint.

Mike Ness has been putting out great rock since 1978 and has consistent success with such hits as the above mentioned as well as, “Bad Luck”, “Misery Loves Company”, and “Winners and Losers”.  A blend of punk, blues, country and rockabilly, Ness’ music is classic in the sense that it is structured in simplistic three chord style songs in the same style as The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan.  That gravely voice of his that has so much personality, seemingly produced by years of hard labor, hard drinking, and hard smoking, is one of a kind and instantly recognizable.  His style of part barrio, part prison yard, all tough and tattooed has been the catalyst for many a punk rock band and musician.  Countless guitar players can cite “Ball and Chain” as one of the first songs they ever learned to play.  Last night Ness and company once again proved why they gained their legendary status and have kept that ball rolling.

Many have described Ness as a sloppy guitar player, but maybe that’s what gives him so much swagger and style like Keef.  The combination of his rhythm and Wickersham’s lead makes a beautiful jangle that fits perfectly in the punk groove.  The addition of Suicidal Tendencies Hidalgo on drums added a solid backbeat and partner to Harding’s bass who also provides perfectly harmonious backing vocals.  Even though the tunes may be seen as simplistic, there are complexities within that if not executed perfectly live could come of disastrous.  This band is extremely tight though and every ounce of work they have put in together shines on stage.  Pittsburgh may be a drinking town with a football problem, but last night there were no problems.  Just a great pub (Stage AE) and great punk.

Highlights: “Story Of My Life”, “Bad Luck”, “Winners and Loser”, “Ball and Chain”, “Ring of Fire”

FIDLAR Premieres “Cheap Beer” Video

Press Quotes

“Punk’s not dead! And Fidlar are here from Los Angeles to prove it with three-chord thrashes that summon the spirit of 77” – Guardian

“Rock needs a band like this from time to time. Someone to remind all those Coldplay’s of the world where music’s balls are.” – Nylon Guys

“FIDLAR channel elements of classic acts like the White Stripes and Pixies, while practically begging for a co-headlining tour with contemporaries like Bass Drum of Death and JEFF the Brotherhood” – SPIN

“The tune can be summed up in a handful of image descriptions; sandboarding, grim reaper, suicidal flip-up hat, skull mask, and shred.” – Filter Magazine

“We all have a major music crush on FIDLAR here at VICE” – VICE

“They remind me of Pixies a lot (an obvious link, given the singer’s Frank Black style screeeeeeam), but there’s also some really, really nice’n’fuzzy guitars in there that sound like they’ve been nicked from the blueprint Death In Vegas followed on ‘Aiesha’.” – NME

“FIDLAR has an agressive, straightforward, but melodic conception of punk.” – LA Times

“But one wouldn’t mistake the band for one of its slacker subjects, not when they play this fast. The tracks sizzle with the aggression and bargain-price fidelity of the SoCal punk tradition, though FIDLAR’s catchy hooks have more in common with Social Distortion and Wavves than Black Flag. ” – MTV Buzz

Santa Cruz punk rockers Stellar Corpses are premiering an all-new Halloween edition video for their debut single “Vampire Kiss,” today at AOL’s Noisecreep! Recently filmed in Hollywood at a raucous house party, by director Jared Sagal (Rockerrazzi Films), check out the band performing the track singer Dusty Sheehan tells Noisecreep “is a tribute to the greatest vampire movie of all time, The Lost Boys, filmed in our hometown of Santa Cruz.” The band also recorded two webisodes full of behind-the-scenes footage and interviews to accompany the video.

Stellar Corpses’ new studio album Dead Stars Drive-In was produced by multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning Joe McGrath (AFI, Morrissey, Green Day, Blink-182, Alkaline Trio). Blending a musical amalgamation of punk, rockabilly, hard rock and melodic rock, thrown in for good measure, Dead Stars Drive-In defies musical expectations. In support of the release, Stellar Corpses have recently been on tour supporting Tiger Army, punk rock legends TSOL, Nekromantix, Voodoo Glow Skulls, and classic horror punk rockers The Misfits. The band recently added a new slate of Southern California live shows, with additional tour dates to be announced.

With musical influences ranging from Elvis, Black Flag, Social Distortion, Stray Cats, and Bad Religion, to Black Sabbath, The Misfits, Danzig, Rancid, Sepultura and Megadeth, it’s no wonder Stellar Corpses chose to work with producer McGrath pouring everything they had into a stellar first album. Dead Stars Drive-In features special guest turns from Hunter Burgan and Jade Puget from the revolutionary goth punk band AFI, and Michale Graves of The Misfits.
Dead Stars Drive-In covers all sorts of subjects beginning with the title track, an ode to the dark side of Hollywood and how some of its brightest stars eventually burned out. “But to this day, their lights shine as bright as ever, and we will go on loving them always,” Sheehan explains.

Stellar Corpses, which literally means “dead stars” in astronomy (Grave’s idea from studying astronomy in college), have become a fixture in the Santa Cruz hard rock music scene over the years. They are by no means an overnight success story. The band met in high school and have been around, playing clubs, building their fan base one-by-one with their dynamic and interactive live shows.

Stellar Corpses is Dusty Sheehan on vocals and lead guitar, Dan Lamothe on upright bass and backing vocals, Emilio Menze on guitar and backing vocals, with Kyle Moore on drums.

DANKO JONES: New Album ‘Rock and Roll is Black and Blue’ to be Released in North America on October 9, 2012

DANKO JONES is extremely excited to announce that they will be releasing their new album Rock And Roll is Black and Blue on October 9, 2012.

Over the course of six full-length albums, DANKO JONES has forged a singular sound that draws equally from the blues, ‘60s garage, ‘70s hard rock, ‘80s hardcore, punky power-pop, Scandinavian metal, and classic stand-up comedy records without ever being fully defined by any of those sources. But while built from the same rudiments, each DANKO JONES record possesses a distinct sonic identity. Born A Lion (2002) brought the boogie and sledgehammer soul; We Sweat Blood (2003) was, by contrast, more anxious and aggro. Sleep Is the Enemy (2006) wielded the sharpest hooks. Never Too Loud (2008) was as slick as Below the Belt (2010) was stripped-down. But, compared to all that’s come before, Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue is, hands down, the most emotional and, as a result, the most epic DANKO JONES album to date.

Now, don’t be scared off by those E-words – there’s not a children’s choir, orchestra or piano ballad to be found within a 500-mile radius of this album. But what you hear on Rock and Roll is Black and Blue is the DANKO JONES ideal blown up to skyscraping proportions, resulting in 13 tracks that are bolder, brasher, and brawnier than anything they’ve attempted before.

The album is produced in full by their longtime partner in crime Matt DeMatteo and was mixed by Mike Fraser, known for his work with AC/DC, Aerosmith, Franz Ferdinand and Elvis Costello to name a few. It is also the first album recorded with “new” drummer Atom Willard – the sixth person in DANKO JONES history to hold the “drummer” title, but the first to stand on equal creative footing with Danko and his longtime foil, bassist John “JC” Calabrese. The man’s résumé speaks for itself: Not only was Willard the driving percussive force behind Danko’s all-time favorite San Diegan garage-punk armada Rocket From the Crypt, he’s also been keeping time for the multi-platinum likes of the Offspring, Social Distortion and Angels & Airwaves, so he knows how to drum his way around a massive tune.

The first single – “Just A Beautiful Day” – will be serviced to radio all over the world shortly.
The new album follows the June release of Bring On The Mountain – a two disc DVD featuring a 90 minute documentary, a short film, exclusive live clips from around the world and all the music videos they have ever done.

A lengthy European tour scheduled for October / November was announced during spring and with ticket sales already looking great we expect most shows to be sold out well before the doors open. Tour dates in Canada, US and Australia will be announced soon with more European touring and a busy festival summer in 2013 also on the horizon. European tour dates can be found here:
