12 Foot Ninja: The Band You Need To Fear

Not a week, if not day, goes by that I am not asked, “Hey man, any cool new bands on the scene?”.  Of course there are so many depending on your likes and tastes.  As an owner/editor of a music magblog I get tons of requests daily to check out new stuff and to promote things and I truly like a lot of it since I am a music addict.  But, the ones that I find most special are the artists that come my way from my friends who are not promo-ing someone, just sharing their love for music with another.  One of those bands that came my ears’ way was through a good friend who happens to be friends with the guys in Periphery who recommended 12 Foot Ninja from Australia.

From the first time you hear them, or hear about them, you will get direct comparisons to Mike Patton and Faith No More…and that is a great thing and a great compliment.  The diverse styles of music that 12 Ft. Ninjas throw into their music is insane and fit into places that don’t seem like they would make sense, but somehow absolutely make sense.  The update on what Faith No More did is readily apparent, taking the technology of today and their musical prowess into the new age of music.

They have recently hit The States with a smattering of support dates and were very recently on Sirius XM speaking to Jose Mangin while they were in New York (and even stayed at his house).  I’m going to go out on a very secure limb here and say that these guys are going to be very big here.  All they need is the a few good support tours and the right promotion and they will be HUGE.  Check them out here…

Los Angeles Folk Rockers YARD OF BLONDES Reveal New Single ‘Murderology’

Los Angeles, CA-based folk rock group YARD OF BLONDES released the first single off of their upcoming EP, Murderology. The title track, ‘Murderology’, is now available for streaming on their official Facebook page. You can listen to the track by liking the band first. Just head to the band’s Facebook page, click on the BandPage icon, then click on the track name in the player. The “like” button will appear automatically.

YARD OF BLONDES visited Sirius XM’s Playboy Radio studio yesterday for a live performance and interview with playmates Raquel Pomplun (Miss April 2012) and Nikki Leigh (Miss May 2012). You can listen to a rebroadcast of the show THIS Saturday, February 23rd at 5pm Eastern Time on Sirius XM Channel 102. To learn more about the channel, visit http://www.siriusxm.com/playboyradio.

YARD OF BLONDES will release their upcoming EP, Murderology, via High Desert Lo-Fi Records and MTV award-winning and Grammy-nominated art agency HK Corp on March 26, 2013. The EP will be available via pre-order starting next week on Tuesday, February 26th. Details coming soon!

The theme of Murderology is love and death; the EP is essentially a collection of meticulously crafted songs inspired by “murder ballads” of the 19th century. YARD OF BLONDES recorded the EP with Julian David at Firewater Studios (Korn, Spliknot, Unkle) with the full support of its owner, Billy Graziadei of Biohazard.

Murderology track listing:
1. Murderology
2. Monomoria
3. Requiem For A lover
4. Sailors

YARD OF BLONDES boasts influences beyond folk music by incorporating stoner rock, pop-rock and indie bits in their music, as well. The band is already well known on the west coast, having performed at more than 100 shows with other great bands such as Hermane Düne or Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age), and they have been growing as a full live band on the stages of L.A. clubs such as The Bootleg Theater, El Cid, The Viper Room, TAIX, Skinny’s Lounge, Hemingway, the Whisky A Go-Go and more.

In 2010, Vincent W. Jacob, a French songwriter and author met Fanny Hill, another French musician in Los Angeles. They were both looking for something new on the other side of the world. They started YARD OF BLONDES together and soon took the desert roads to confront themselves to their rock, folk and stoner influences. In addition to Vincent on vocals / guitars and Fanny on vocals / piano / organ, the two are joined by Dean Chamberlain on bass guitar, Will Schlich on guitars, and Ben Lecourt on drums.

New Crue

Motley Crue has announced that they will release their new single called Sex, on July 17th. Apparently Crue will debut the track on Sirius XM radio four days earlier (Check out Sixx Sense). The band’s co-headlining tour with KISS begins on July 20th (and hits Pittsburgh Sept 2 at First Niagara Pavilion).

The song was recorded earlier this year at Tommy Lee’s Atrium studio. At the time bassist Nikki Sixx said, “Got a nasty little song that we’re thinking would be perfect to rev up your engines for summer. We are cutting drums, bass and guitars this weekend at Tommy’s studio. This one is a panty dropper for sure… I was just thinking, I’ve been writing music for most of my life and it still feels fresh every time I pick up the pen, guitar or bass.” Seems Nikki has been trying to go back to the old style of Motley as he told VH1, “I’ve been writing very simple riffs for the last year and focusing on how these riffs would work for Vince, basically, and took it in the studio with Tommy and Mick and the thing just came alive.”

Should be a killer song and show as always and PMM will be there!
