COYOTE MAN Releases New Instrumental Single, “Perilous”

Perlious Art

Chicago based, Progressive Rock duo COYOTE MAN has released their new instrumental track, “Perilous,” the first single off of their upcoming, sophomore album, Precognition.

“From the beginning structure of the song it really gave us a dark presence and meaning if you will. A sort of dark truth with our economy at the moment which is in a perilous state. It fits well with the album title “Precognition” since it illuminates the present and provides a glimpse of what our future may hold. Times are scary and we wanted to lay down this eerie foundation within the tone of the song that hopefully paints a perfect picture for the listener.” – COYOTE MAN

COOZABLACK & SIN CITY Release New Single, “Christine”

Houston,TX based Hip-Hop/Rock Band COOZABLACK & SIN CITY has released their newest single, “Christine.” A complex culture clash that moves effortlessly between Carribean infused summer jam, Hip-Hop banger, and guitar driven, Heavy Rock Anthem, “Christine” is the perfect cruise your city with the windows down, feel good song that eliminates your bad days. Written and arranged as a collective from all members of COOZABLACK & SIN CITY, “Christine” is set to not only be a big song for now,but is aimed to create future feel good nostalgia.

“The musical base of Christine came from our bass player and former drummer, then later sprinkled with each band member’s creative add-ons. It’s a story about a man’s admiration of his Queen. Loving everything about the way she moves, what she wears to her silhouette. It was important to us that in the song’s creation we musically set a mood that made sense, without losing the vibe. Once the song began to take shape-it took no time to arrange and pencil the story. Christine is the sunny side of the cat and mouse game played by Kings and the ever seductive Queens.” – COOZABLACK

John Bassett Bio
John Bassett is an English multi-instrumentalist, singer songwriter and producer from Hastings, East Sussex. Primarily known for writing the music and producing the critically acclaimed albums by Progressive Rock
act “KingBathmat”. He has so far released seven albums since 2003, with the last few through the record label Stereohead Records.

The last two album releases “Truth Button” & “Overcoming The Monster” have recieved much acclaim throughout the Progressive & Alternetive Rock Communities leading to reviews and features in national magazines such as “Classic Rock Presents Prog”, “Shindig”. Bassett’s songwriting is characterised as being ”endlessly inventive, leaving you guessing what’s going to happen next, with plenty of harmonies and big hooks“.

2014 sees Bassett releasing his debut solo album,
an album on which he exploits the songwriting skills
and production techniques he has acquired over the
last ten years to their full potential.

Recent releases by John Bassett have recieved glowing reviews

One of the most impressive releases I’ve heard this year” – popmatters

There’s something in the sea air in Hastings that has turned prog ingenue John Bassett into one of our scene’s most prolific protagonists” Prog Magazine

“Kingbathmat are one of the most exciting bands that get labelled prog on the scene at the moment, and as this album proves they are so much more than just a prog band. This is an album you need to listen to, on headphones, in one sitting, so you are immersed in its majesty. Faultless.” – Classic Rock Society

one of the very best progressive releases this year, one though completely unique in voice” – Ringmaster Review

If your looking for one of best modern interpretations of classic progressive rock, KingBathmat and Overcoming the Monster is hidden gem.” – Dangerdog Music Reviews

Imagine what Sabbath would have been like if they collaborated with Porcupine Tree, Spock’s Beard and The Mars Volta”, “positively bursting with talent, full of innovation and musical dexterity” – Echos and Dust

This is what KingBathmat do best, inventive prog the leaves you guessing what’s going to happen next, with plenty of harmonies and big hooks” – Powerplay Magazine

If Kingbathmat keeps up with productivity levels and particularly delivering killer songs, there is no telling how much they can achieve” – Infernal Masquerade

imagine the Seattle grunge scene of the early 1990s having gone majorly prog.  A bit of Soundgarten, a bit of Screaming Trees, etc.  This is better.  Much better” – Progarchy

A highlight of 2013” – Musikreviews

It’s an absolute pleasure, and could be construed as ear sex…” – Metalmouth

A beautiful work that should enable the quartet Hastings to be on the list of my favorite albums at the end of the year.” Auxportesdumetal

This is undoubtedly their high water mark; creepy, tense, energetic, psychedelic, thoughtful.  A complex yet triumphant journey that any music fan needs to take.” –Headwarmer

As strange as the name Kingbathmat may be it’s a wonder it’s not bandied about more often in prog rock circles and internet discussion groups. These guys are just as killer – if not more so – as the bands they’re often compared to” , “Sure to make my list as one of the ten best albums of 2013.” – Prognaut

it is a monster of an album” – hallowed

I think that just about any fan of prog rock will find something to like about this album” –Progrocket

Just like its predecessor, Overcoming The Monster (2013) is a very good example that Progressive Rock mixed with more ‘modern’ approaches can be made. Sometimes bands end up copying themselves when it comes to this ‘modern prog’ and all of them sound the same. When it comes to KingBathmat, they’re quite unique in what they do. And you have to respect them for that! Highly recommended.” – Progshine

KingBathmat could well achieve the completely irrelevant rarity of having two of their albums in my top ten this year”, “KingBathmat is a synonym for open-minded creativity. Unlike some prog bands whose seriousness can be overwhelming, this band manages to inject intelligence, humour and levity into their song-writing, thus enabling them to share their music and making it a joy to experience” – Ave Noctum

Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with the musical ideas of Bassett and co, it is difficult to predict how the course of musical events develops? Maybe that’s why “Overcoming The Monster” is so addictive and intriguing. 9/10” – Rockarea

A classic in the making!” – Liverpool Sound & Vision

Montreal’s MIRE (prog rock/metal) Announce Release of Inward/Outward; Offer Free Download

Rising out of Montreal, QC’s vibrant music scene, progressive rock / metal band MIRE are proud to announce the official release of their debut album Inward/Outward on March 18th to follow up their 2010 self titled EP.

Two years in the making, Inward/Outward is a 10 track reflection of ideas flying every which way around the recording studio, ranging from cognitive science to a military stint in Afghanistan by guitarist Dave Massicotte.

“We created this with our guts and have dared to explore a less common style of metal where the music is less obvious and sometimes requires the individual to have more than one listen before being able to grasp and really appreciate every musical element,” says guitarist Massicotte of the album. “From big chunky guitar to light piano melody, every song will take you on a different journey and set of emotions.”

The band has released the first music video ‘Limitless Pt. 2’ in support of the album, which can be viewed at the following link:

“Limitless Pt. 2 is about waking up from your daily grind to acknowledge the mysticism of your existence. The potential of what mankind is capable of, starts in the hands of its individual subjects – it starts with you. As the title implies, Limitless is an expression of how far you should push your ambitions in all directions to fulfill your own ideal based on your individual experience.’ says vocalist JP LaChapelle. “MIRE celebrates diversity, because slaving to fit the mold serves another. Enough of us have been sacrificed for a semblance of freedom, and to perfect it takes mad balls. Courage to confront fear every single morning, day and night, live on the edge of your seat at all times and lean forward – goad life to ‘come at you bro’. Developing your conscience allows you to stretch out the fiber of the NOW and analyse it. Establish objectives; try 10 times in different ways until you succeed. OWN YOUR DESTINY. That’s the passion we felt when we created Limitless together.”

August 2, 2013 (Los Angeles, CA) – UK Progressive rock band TesseracT will be returning to North America for two tours!  First the band will hit the road with Katatonia, Cult of Luna and Intronaut.  That tour begins September 23rd in Boston, MA and runs through October 7th in San Francisco, CA.

Immediately following their dates with Katatonia, TesseracT has announced a headline tour with support being provided by Scale the Summit and Anciients.  These shows kick off October 9thand Vancouver and are currently set to wrap on October 27th in Greensboro, NC.  More dates may be added in the coming weeks.

The band commented on their return to this side of the pond:

“North America! We’re coming back. And for not 1, but 2 tours back to back. We’ve all been missing Cracker Barrel, and Timmy Ho’s, so it’s with great pleasure that we can announce that we will be touring your fair lands again. Ever since the first tour we did with DTP way back when Ashe was called Dan, you guys have always been so cool to us. A lot has changed since then, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been showing the Europeans for the past year. Firstly we’ll be on tour with Katatonia, Cult of Luna, and Intronaut, as part of the Uncrowned and Vertikal tour. This will be an intense evening of dark powerful prog. It’s so cool to be apart of this bill as all 4 bands create a completely different yet compatible atmosphere. Then we’ll start the Altered State tour, where we’ll have support from Scale The Summit and Anciients. Two bands that stretch progressive music to its limits. All of this is great, but you know the best bit…French Toast. Everyday for 5 weeks. Maple Syrup. Bacon. TubberacT.”

It merely changes from one state to another.

Altered State was produced, mixed, mastered and engineered by TESSERACT guitarist, Acle Kahney, assisted by bassist, Amos Williams at Acle’s 4D Sounds studio, and marks the first full release with new vocalist, Ashe O’Hara.

Now with a fantastic five-piece line-up, the band is ready to make their mark in the progressive world.

REVIEW: Female fronted NYC progressive rockers Eye Ra Haze release their brooding EP Eye Of The Storm progressive music is somewhat of a boys club. With the exception of a few bands that surfaced between the mid-90’s and now, the female gender has been primarily absent from the world of progressive hard rock and metal. Finally, the wait ends now with the introduction of New York City alternative/progressive quintet EYE RA HAZE. Not only featuring drummer Kevin Corcoran’s (ex-Buried Alive) thunderous beats and Berklee-schooled bassist Chris Marrone’s fresh rhythms, the band also includes the female triple-threat of seductive crooner Natasha Nicholson, striking 8-string guitarist Nicole Papastavrou (ex-Through this Defiance), and captivating classical pianist Karine Catenacci.

Musically, Eye Of The Storm is laden with intricately laced rhythms balanced by dark spatial melodies. This is music that knows the importance of leaving room to breathe between the notes and rhythms in order to create depth and atmosphere. This is not the brand of progressive rock that subscribes to musical excess as a way to flex their musical prowess. Rather, Eye Ra Haze mindfully weave thoughtful sonic constructions that demonstrate mastery through constraint and design. Natasha Nicholson delivers crisp, clear vocals throughout that are an interesting contrast to the music the float on top of. Lyrically things are a little fairly straightforward here, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This is an instrumentally dynamic offering which can be quickly digested and appreciated.

As for their background, EYE RA HAZE is the natural formation of five heavy music lovers who shared the dream of sculpting a nonpareil sound in the alternative and progressive genres. Their blend of delicate, ardent melodies and tumultuous rhythm riffs force EYE RA HAZE to stand apart from the crowd. They craft each song like a passionate, personal encounter, using dynamics to translate their mood and intentions. During the tremors of their live set, EYE RA HAZE exposes a crude display of skills, taking the audience from love to rage and leaving them hung; craving to know the source of their enigmatic dark side, and their intimidating show of beauty.

EYE RA HAZE played their first residency at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn, New York last July. The band is planning a string of live shows in the Northeast this spring and plans to return to the studio in July 2013 to record a full length with hit songwriters Bob Marlette (Saliva, Shinedown) and Jasen Rauch (Korn/Breaking Benjamin).

THE CUSTODIAN Signs With The Lasers Edge New Album Necessary Wasted Time Due Out June 18th

Artwork and Tracklisting Revealed
THE CUSTODIAN is the UK’s newest and most exciting progressive rock band. Formed in late 2012, the band is already primed to release their debut offering Necessary Wasted Time June 18th via The Lasers Edge.

The band is lead by British musician Richard Thomson, better known as the vocalist of progressive metal group Xerath. The project was initially started in a bedroom in Warwickshire and has now, after several years of lying dormant due to other commitments, become a fully fledged band ready to take the prog rock world by storm.

Thomson, commented on the band’s signing to The Lasers Edge:

“We are extremely proud to be joining The Lasers Edge family. Not only is their roster exceptional but working with Ken and the team has been a superb experience for us. They take huge pride in what they do and more importantly the enthusiasm they have for the development of their bands is fantastic. We look forward to making some great music with them and bringing it out on the road as soon as possible!  ”

Label head Ken Golden explained how the signing of THE CUSTODIAN came about:

“An unexpected e-mail from a mysterious band named THE CUSTODIAN caught my attention.  I started to listen to their debut album Necessary Wasted Time…and I kept listening…and listening.  In short I became addicted.  Rich Thomson and crew are creating the type of forward thinking music that helps define the fabric of The Laser’s Edge.  I’m very excited to present THE CUSTODIAN to a worldwide audience.”

The band takes influence not only from prog rock, but anything and everything else that fits. Expect lots of beautiful acoustic passages, warm synth, tasteful leads, complex drumming and great production.

The album was recorded by the band in their home studio, mixed by Danish producer Jacob Hansen and mastered by Bob Katz. The artwork was created by British artist Colin Marks of Rainsong design.

BIGELF returns and signs new deal with InsideOut Music

InsideOut Music is immensely pleased to announce the signing of progressive-rock powerhouse BIGELF for the release of their forthcoming new album later this year. Label-head Thomas Waber says about the signing: “We have been talking to BIGELF for quite some time now and I am really pleased that we finally managed to make this happen! BIGELF are an excellent addition to the InsideOut Music roster!”

It’s been a few years since we’ve heard any activity from the BIGELF camp, so who better to explain to us what’s been going on than the band’s mastermind Damon Fox himself:

“Finally! BIGELF lands on a planet whose atmosphere is synonymous with progressive rock and heavy metal. One of my all-time favourite quotes is, ‘Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid…’

I’m ecstatic that InsideOut/Century Media and Mike Portnoy have joined ‘forces’ with BIGELF.

First, I want to elaborate on what has been happening ‘inside’ the band since 2010, there have been numerous rumours on the internet that I fired everyone in BIGELF, this is completely untrue.

After the juggernaut of ‘Cheat The Gallows’ came to a halt, the business and personal infrastructure of BIGELF imploded and an unexpected hiatus occurred leaving the band in complete disarray. A myriad of personal, financial and domestic matters had enveloped myself as well as certain members of the group. There also comes a time when deep down inside it just doesn’t feel right anymore, and one has to face the music that the end is near. Transparency no longer exists and with that, clarity and perspective are lost. I’m speaking for myself now but clearly this was a mutual feeling and I believe it was obvious amongst the band. Subsequently, Ace Mark decided to move on and left BIGELF in the summer of 2011, and a request by the remaining members for a dissolution of business followed. To put it simply, we went our separate ways without malice.

I had been keeping in close touch with Mike Portnoy after his very public and difficult departure from DREAM THEATER. At this time, my musical future seemed quite bleak and I was very vocal to Mike about not being able to sustain the band any longer on my own. He implored me to carry on and to not let BIGELF slip away, his encouragement and enthusiasm meant the world to me. Recognizing that I needed some new allies, I asked him if he would help fight the good fight and lend his extraordinary drum majesty to the new BIGELF record and he readily agreed. Also…sharing a passion for all things rock & roll, my good friend Duffy Snowhill climbed aboard the Viking ship for another round of thundering bass guitar and for that too I am grateful.

I also want to acknowledge our amazing and dedicated fans that send emails all the time saying how they feel about BIGELF. These emails inspire me greatly and they’re the reason that I continue to play this kind of music, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the new wondrous landscapes we’ve been sculpting, there are lots of surprises around the corner, stay tuned.”

SPOCK’S BEARD Announce April 2 Release of ‘Brief Nocturnes And Dreamless Sleep’

Progressive-rock legends SPOCK’S BEARD have returned to InsideOut Music for the April 2nd North American release of BRIEF NOCTURNES AND DREAMLESS SLEEP, their 11th studio album. Label-head Thomas Waber had this to say about the band’s return: “InsideOut Music and Spock’s Beard have a long and successful history. What would we be as a company without them?  Welcome home guys!”

The new studio album also marks the recording debut of long-time drummer Jimmy Keegan, and vocalist / guitarist Ted Leonard (Enchant, Thought Chamber). It also sees the return of one familiar name to the song-writing credits, that of Neal Morse who has co-written two tracks after having left the band in 2002. Of the collaboration, bass-player Dave Meros says: “Al and Neal are brothers, of course, and keep in regular contact with each other. What happened was that Al spoke to Neal and told him he was working on some ideas. Neal said he’d love to help, so Al went down to Nashville, where his brother’s now living, and they collaborated on the songs.”

Co-produced by Al Morse, Rich Mouser and John Boegehold, BRIEF NOCTURNES AND DREAMLESS SLEEP is described by Meros as, “quirky, edgy, and reminding us a little bit of older times in the band, but also taking us further forward.” More information and tour dates to be announced soon!

Alan Morse – guitar, vocals
Dave Meros – bass guitar, vocals, keyboards
Ryo Okumoto – keyboards, vocals
Jimmy Keegan – drums, vocals
Ted Leonard – vocals, guitar

Ultraviolet Hippopotamus w/Dopapod @ Rex Theater Feb. 8

Ultraviolet Hippopotamus is an explosive five-piece progressive improvisational band with a rapidly growing fan base across the U.S. and Europe. Described as “brightening the future of the jam band scene,” Ultraviolet Hippopotamus mixes tight, funky jams with new dance beats, heartfelt lyrics, compelling composition, eccentric effects and a vibrant light show for an incredible, one-of-a-kind musical experience. Known for its on-stage musical alchemy – cultivated from years of relentless touring – the band performs an eclectic selection of technically demanding compositions and improvised material along with unconventional and fun covers.

The band recently joined the rooster at Hoplite where founding partners Tom Baggott and Chris Cate have presided over the foundational career development of Disco Biscuits, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Railroad Earth, Ryan Montbleau Band, Zach Deputy and many other smaller artists. Through time spent at other agencies or in other roles ranging from artist management, tour management, production, marketing and management over the last 20+ years, they also participated in the career growth of Agents of Good Roots, Johnny Winter, Michelle Shocked, The Radiators, Tim Reynolds, Victor Wooten and many more. The band is now being managed and booked by the agency which has already led to bigger and better touring opportunities.

Ultraviolet Hippopotamus also just spent time in the studio recording a new concept EP, Broomhilda Suite, which they released to fans at its Halloween 2012 show. It is now available for purchase at shows and online for just $5. Broomhilda Suite is the band’s latest studio effort featuring an epic story of the hero Kanyon and his journey to defeat a mean, old witch Broomhilda. The band is extremely proud of the work and can’t wait to release a full-length studio album later this year.

The group deftly journeys between funk, jazz, livetronica, space rock, reggae, bluegrass, and progressive rock within a single show and, sometimes, within a single song. Exploring new ground and taking risks make every performance unique, and fans are never sure what exactly the band will deliver each night; other than exceptional music.

Anyone remotely familiar with the ‘jam band sound’ will immediately recognize Ultraviolet Hippopotamus’ influences and genre-mixing musical objectives, but the band adds a level of talent, intricacy and polish that truly sets it apart. Tight, energetic jams and outstanding vocals — a true rarity among the band’s peers — coupled with the act’s spontaneity and strong songwriting add to its appeal. The word is out, and the band is quickly developing into an international sensation.

Ultraviolet Hippopotamus’ highly praised third album, “Square Pegs, Round Holes,” reached No. 3 and spent much of the year in the top 25 of the Relix Magazine/ National Radio Chart and was voted “2011 Studio Album of the Year” at the Home Grown Music Network. It also received similar nominations from several radio programs, among other acclaim. The album continues to sell steadily and receives airplay across the U.S. as well as internationally in Italy, Brazil, France, Switzerland, England, Spain, Germany and other countries.

Dopapod exists at the crossroads of full throttle intensity, deep pocket groove, intricate technicality, and limitless experimentation. With no regard towards limiting themselves to stylistic boundaries, the sound that emerges from the quartet both live and in the studio is as varied and diverse as the many influences that they adapt from.

Buke and Gase’s General Dome Out Today, Watch Video For “Hiccup”

Buke and Gase’s new album, General Dome, is out today on Brassland, and the band is revealing a curious new video for their song “Hiccup.” Premiered today on IFC Fix, the video is a dizzying trip ’round the wheel. Perceptions are muddled, scrambled, disassembled, and repurposed as images we are familiar with transfigure into new ones.

In addition to this new video, the entire album is up and streaming on NPR Music’s popular “First Listen” series. Stephen Thompson says the band “captures the sound of restless minds as they revel in the joy and surprise of creation. Without overtly evoking celebration, there’s an air of delight in every tiny sonic bombshell, as Arone Dyer and Aron Sanchez maneuver their homemade instruments through songs that rumble and clamor and grind with unmistakable electricity.”

Be sure to catch Buke and Gase on their US tour (all dates w/ Ahleuchatistas), starting tomorrow! They’ll then travel to Australia for a tour of the country’s festival circuit, followed by dates in Europe.

Ahleuchatistas to Tour with Buke & Gase in Support of Heads Full of Poison

With a moniker that screams “enigma,” Asheville, North Carolina instrumental rock duo Ahleuchatistas belong to the beyond-category sector of such iconic, genre-flouting combos as John Zorn’s Naked City, Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band, Swans, Tortoise, and Sun City Girls. The duo of Shane Perlowin (guitar and bass) and Ryan Oslance (drums) combine wicked precision with intense abandon, droll humor with analytical construction, and a sly gregariousness with uncompromising vision. This pair interweaves elements of punk rock, jazz, classical music, speed metal, grindcore, progressive rock, noise, folk musics from Asia and North Africa, electronic music, and ambient aesthetics, along with volatile, unpredictable improvisation, flowing organically in a virtual world of their own. Cerebral but never ponderous, Ahleuchatistas make immediate music that reaches for the mind, heart, and gut.

Ahleuchatistas kick off a tour of North America supporting Buke & Gase in support of their seventh album, Heads Full of Poison, out now on CD/digital via Cuneiform Records and as a double LP on Harvest Records. On stage and throughout the album, Perlowin and Oslance perform with a rare unity of purpose, without any self-indulgence or water-treading, displaying a virtually orchestral palette.

Brit-Prog Rockers KingBathmat Never Follow The Rules

I always like getting an assignment to cover and review new Brit-Rock. When PMM’s COO, Alan Welding, sent me the link to KingBathmat’s 6th studio album, “Truth Button” ( to be released on Stereohead Records with worldwide physical and digital distribution by Code 7 on January 21st 2013) I was intrigued.

I loaded up the album, sat in my listening chair and put me feet up with a pint.  After my first listen the musical rolodex spinning in my head tagged the following bands: Queens Of The Stone Age, Black Sabbath, Spocks Beard, The Doves, Elbow, Pink Floyd and placed them all on my sonic palette to draw comparisons from.

Why haven’t heard of these guys? Have they holed themselves up in some old castle Pink Floyd abandoned (with all their instruments)?  Are these recordings from another time dimension? I envisioned them quietly shopping their demo around. Only to be scolded, “Go to the corner lads you’ve been bad. You’ll never get a record deal, hit the mainstream or be on the cover MOJO Mag” by some music industry business-wankjob. You won’t here KingBathmat on any radio station in Pittsburgh, during regular hours anyway, for two reasons….1) radio programming in Pittsburgh has a low IQ and 2) KingBathmat is way too bright musically.  If you have a strong or even mild affinity for any of the groups I listed above then “Truth Button” will be your Winter Solstice record.

I was thinking what a cool band to be part of and then realized that if you were in KingBathmat you’d have to follow these rules:

  1. never come to rehearsals or gigs under the influence of any mind altering drug because their arrangements are mind blowing and complex and you’d be lost by the first bridge
  2. have insane knowledge of vintage sounding instruments and tones because they use classic textures…. especially keys, organ and synth etc.
  3. be familiar with many genres of music and be able to sew them together with energy and style
  4. have incredible endurance and dexterity ( I actually tried to play along with “Dives and Pauper” and my hand cramped within 45 seconds)
  5. realize that “time signatures” are regular everyday occurrences and showcased in their songwriting very effectively

My next step is to get a quality recording of “Truth Button” and wait for Stereohead Records to release KingBathmat’s back catalogue. I’m purchasing them all! Winter is coming and I need brain stimulation!

KingBathmat is a 4 piece band comprises of
John Bassett (bass, vocals) David Georgiou (Keyboards) Lee Sulsh (guitar) Bernie Smirnoff (drums).

The Eldge Rating Scale: KingBathmat “Truth Button”: 4 Stars

1 Star > pass on it

2 Stars > couple good cuts

3 Stars > explore this one

4 Stars > purchase it

5 Stars > never leaves your side

“Truth Button” is the new album from UK Progressive Rock Band KingBathmat. A collection of 6 tracks that fuse and cross-pollinate the musical genres of Progressive Rock, Grunge, Psychedelia and Experimental Rock to concoct a vibrant intoxicating brew of complex, intricate melodies and heavy bludgeoning riffs all contained within a running time of approximately 50 minutes.

“Truth Button” deals with an underlying theme of technophobia and social disconnection due to the evergrowing trivial use of modern technology. “Truth Button” calls for the advancement of technology to be employed to make the truth more transparent as opposed to it being exploited to confuse, convulute and restrict us.

Over the coming year Stereohead Records will be re-releasing the entire KingBathmat back catalogue, and by doing so, revealing a progressive rock legacy that has been languishing in the shadows, out of sight, for far too long.

With a moniker that screams “enigma,” Asheville, North Carolina instrumental rock duo Ahleuchatistas belong to the beyond-category sector of such iconic, genre-flouting combos as John Zorn’s Naked City, Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band, Swans, Tortoise, and Sun City Girls. A duo armed only with guitar and drums, Ahleuchatistas combine wicked precision with intense abandon, droll humor with analytical construction, and a sly gregariousness with uncompromising vision. With a devoted international cult following, Ahleuchatistas is considered by many to be one of the most innovative and ever-developing instrumental groups of the past decade. Cerebral but never ponderous, Ahleuchatistas make immediate music that reaches for the mind, heart, and gut.

On their seventh album, Ahleuchatistas’ Heads Full of Poison is a sonic brew that reveals new flavors, new spices with every aural taste. Now a duo of charter member Shane Perlowin (guitar and bass) and Ryan Oslance (drums), Heads Full of Poison was developed over a two-year period, road-tested and honed with numerous performances, including nearly 100 in Europe. It combines highly detailed composition with a looseness that encourages a range of interpretation. Throughout the album, Perlowin and Oslance perform with a rare unity of purpose, without any self-indulgence or water-treading, displaying a virtually orchestral palette.
