Late Night Savior’s NEW ALT-METAL Cover of Sam Smith’s hit, “How Do You Sleep?” (feat. Royal Bliss) is Turning Some Heads!

Youtube-banner- squared-version

LATE NIGHT SAVIOR has teamed up with fellow Salt Lake City, Utah band ROYAL BLISS for a high energy, hard rock/alt-metal cover of SAM SMITH’S 2019 “How Do You Sleep?” (feat. ROYAL BLISS). Produced by Crispin Earl, “How Do You Sleep?” (feat. ROYAL BLISS) is an array of soaring melodies, heavy hitting guitars, huge grooves and modern day production that will scratch the itch of pop, rock and metal fans alike. LATE NIGHT SAVIOR slated to be on ROCK SHOP RECORDS International Showcase Tour slated for the summer of 2021.

“When asked if we wanted to do a cover song for the new album I knew right away which song I would like to do. Sam Smith’s – “How Do You Sleep” is not only a great tune but its very relatable for so many. Feeling as though or knowing someone is trying to deceive you is a horrible feeling all by itself, but its who you become in the midst that might be the worst part. You become like another version of yourself and it can all hit you like the stages of grief. Paranoia, sadness, depression, anxiety, self doubt, anger and hopefully acceptance that without trust there can’t truly be love. We decided to do this song with another Utah native band, our friends in “Royal Bliss” and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. Hopefully our version of “How Do You Sleep” does justice to the emotion brought by the original!” – Brandon Johnson – (lead Singer) Late Night Savior

The Holy Veins are here to prove to the world that there are still musicians/bands trying to make a difference, that still care about musicianship, showmanship, originality, and creating something that people believe in. I’m truly grateful to be on this journey towards something spectacular – to show the world that it’s time to shake things up, and to create not just a unique new band, but a movement – to show the world that rock and roll is here to stay.” – CASON DAY

The Holy Veins Promo 3

The Holy Veins is a musical movement for a generation that wants to feel something new.

Equal parts Muse and Charlie Puth, between Daft Punk and Queen, The Holy Veins joins the ranks of Maroon 5’s electric-charged early releases and Harry Styles’ vulnerable retro charm, creating exciting emotional music that embraces a new breed of rock.

Houston-native Cason Day formed The Holy Veins officially in March 2020, an amalgamation of simmering songs and lyrics steeped in years of collaborating with other local New York musicians and bands. As he began to build a stylistic library through his work on stage and in the studio, the songs became a collection of something bigger, and Lost My Mind began to take shape.

The Holy Veins defies the limits of genre and uses raw emotion to create a new sound influenced by the best music of the last 40 years. Their debut EP Lost My Mind is a journey with addiction, religion, and love or lust, explored through a lens of alternative rock, pop, and electronic funk, to create something new for a generation coming-of-age that won’t settle for less.

Hellbound Hearts was started in Yorkshire in 2011 by singer / bassist Danny and after the usual and numerous ep’s, line up changes and growing pains of any new band, Hellbound Hearts truly found their sound and hit their stride with the acclaimed 2016 debut album Film Noir mixing pop rock sensibilities with dark lyrical content and gothic metal tinged guitars.

Danny, drummer Lee and guitarists Craig and Nathan have taken this ethos even further, crafting a melodic, modern, dark and unique sound for their upcoming 2019 ep release.

While being one of only a few bands around who can actually claim they sound like no one else, comparisons can be drawn to the likes of NirvanaTherapyFoo FightersType O Negative, and Paradise Lost, among others.

WILD PLANES Release High Energy, Official Music Video for “Money”

Wild Planes TRIO

New York based Rock Band WILD PLANES has released the official music video for their single, “Money.” The first video off of their debut EP, Singin ‘N’ Slingin, “Money” was directed and edited by Ron Geffen at Rockland Studio.

Singin ‘N’ Slingin is the best body of work we’ve written so far. From start to finish, its rockin and groovin. We wanted to pay homage to our rock n roll roots and we did just that! Our leading track, ‘Money,’ is about what we all love and hate…..Money! We wanted to write about Money lyrically within the verses from both sides, having a lot and not having enough. In the end, Money makes this funny world go round. As a band we are wild, funny and always having a good time. This EP captures who we are. There are great rockin tunes like “The Hunter” and “Im Back” which are then rounded out with ” We Don’t Know This” and “Drunk” which each have a story of their own.
We are very excited for this release and be sure to crank it up while you’re listening! Now lets get wild!” – Wild Planes

MATT PLESS Perfects “Ashtray” with Re-Recording of ‘Tumbleweed’

JeanetteDMoses-MattPortraits-1

Baltimore, MD Folk-Punk Singer/Songwriter MATT PLESS has returned to his 2013 released masterpiece Tumbleweed with a re-recording of the acoustic 12 track LP. Invoking the lyrical brilliance of BOB DYLAN, the instrumental diversity of THE VIOLENT FEMMES, and the folkish undertones of FLOGGING MOLLY, Tumbleweed is an explosion of dynamic discordance, mixing driving, confrontational punk acoustic jams with gentle, canorous melodies. The opening track for the album, “Ashtray,” is the perfect introduction to this uniquely focused musician’s fusion of rock, Americana, and acoustic folk.

player

“’Ashtray’ came about because I smoked an ashtray-worth of cigarettes in the half hour that it took to write the song…I had been playing music full time for quite a while. I was tired of finding myself performing at shows that were as empty as my pockets and was frustrated at the state of my life, the world, and the indie art community. I had been listening to a lot of obscure music circulating in the punk scene and had stumbled across a song by another artist which included a lyric that said: “If I found God anywhere it would be by the tracks”. From there, inspiration threw me my own variation on the line that would open “Ashtray”: “Someone asked me if I found God, yes, I think we’ve met a couple times. But, I’m not sure if it was Him ’cause I can’t look Her in the eye” – Matt Pless

Radio and press became fans of the band instantly.  Bend Sinister saw adds come in across the U.S. including plays on KROQ (Los Angeles), KCXX (San Bernandino), KTCL (Denver), KXTE (Las Vegas) and more.  The band premiered the album on AOL Spinner and with a feature in Alternative Press.  Shortly after they were stopping by and performing at Daytrotter in Iowa, Playboy Radio and AXS TV in Los Angeles, Acoustic Cafe in Ann Arbor and JB TV in Chicago.  Paper Magazine premiered the band’s first video from the album for their song “Quest for Love” which featured adult film star James Deen.  The video was quickly picked up by other outlets seeing additional coverage at Death and Taxes, Alt Sounds, Culture Brats and more.

CODY KAHMAR Premieres New Song “Last Time”

Singer-songwriter, Cody Kahmar, has just released his third single “Last Time,” an upbeat must-hear dance-trigger for the masses, today on Global Grind. The beat is funk, pop, dance and disco all rolled into one up-tempo track, a variance from Cody’s previous more sensual single, “Sex in the City.” From the moment “Last Time” starts to play, the music propels feel-good vibes that say ‘timeless party anthem.’  You can check out the track on Global Grind, here: http://bit.ly/172JtPK.

Last Time” was co-penned by Cody Kahmar and neo-songwriter Dominique Maples, to encourage life’s epic moments that will last for years to come. Everyone has extraordinary last times that can be stimulated by music and this song will help people connect with them; like the last time you will ever dance with someone special, the last time you will kiss your lover, or the last time you will party before tying the knot.

“Last Time” was produced by producer Pro Jay (Usher, Lil Wayne, Robin Thicke, Tupac, Jennifer Hudson) and offers the same character and perseverance Prince’s “1999” brought to the dance floor; An adamant plea to cast any cares aside, feel the music and the moment, and go hard!

The first chorus of the song kicks off with “We all came to party tonight…,” a statement that sets the tone for the carefree atmosphere “Last Time” was written to create. The significance of the song’s lighthearted persona also reflects Cody’s high-spirited outlook on life. “Life is short and music is a catalyst to inspire people to live life to the fullest. I want ‘Last time’ to inspire people to celebrate life experiences like second chances don’t exist; like it’s their last time.”

“Pop Music: Ten Albums to Own in 2013” – Earbuddy

Singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Tessa Rose Jackson may only be 20 years old, but she has already built quite the reputation for herself, winning over audiences and critics alike worldwide with her smart and heartfelt songwriting. In addition to playing sold-out shows in Amsterdam, the Dutch songstress has taken over the radio airwaves with “Lost and Found” in high rotation on the largest Dutch radio station, and performed live on the most popular late-night TV show.

“Lost and Found” was first featured as the iTunes US Single of the Week in May, ahead of the release of her debut album, (Songs From) The Sandbox, on April 5. The track is a delightfully catchy, pop-infused tune replete with rich harmonies, handclaps and swirling layers of instrumentation – and the video does not disappoint either. You can watch “Lost and Found”now on YouTube, and we encourage you to post and share! (Songs From) The Sandbox is now available via iTunes.

Influenced both by the music she grew up listening to (The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys) and by her time at the BRIT School in London (home to fellow artists Adele and Kate Nash), Jackson describes her music as a “more accessible Feist and a slightly poppier Fleet Foxes, with a nod to Ray Lamontagne and a bit of Edward Sharpe.”

(Songs From) The Sandbox opens with the instantly captivating “Stepping Stone,” a track with toe-tapping rhythm and light, airy vocals and that premiered with American Songwriter (seeHERE). “Change Time,” which was featured in a popular IKEA TV spot and is currently used in a LG ad in Brazil, is bursting with frenetic energy, both from Tessa Rose’s galloping vocals and a lively, bouncing beat. The slower, dreamy “405” on the other hand reels the listener in with its shimmering facets and its emotional depth.

Twenty-plus years of stories, twenty-plus years of perfecting music’s craft, Ski Lodge‘sBig Heart is exactly what a debut record should be: the culmination of a creative force’s life on this planet. Andrew Marr, the multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter behindSki Lodge, has created a deeply personal record that overflows with lush melodies and insatiably catchy choruses. His songs occasionally deal with dark matters—infidelity, painful break-ups, loneliness, disjointed father-son dynamics—but Marr bathes them in a blissful light ripe for sing-alongs.”I try to write songs honestly, and a lot of the things going on in my head that I struggle with might be deemed ‘dark,’ but I don’t think that means I can’t sing about them in a way that is musically upbeat or poppy,” Marr says, from his home in New York City. It’s a dichotomy that also translates to Marr’s choice for musical moniker. He explains the name Ski Lodge “evoked an image of being warm by a fire, alone or with friends, while outside exists the cold and cruel winter.”Big Heart, Ski Lodge’s debut full-length, out this summer on Dovecote Records, is Marr’s fullest realization of this hot and cold split. Marr wrote all of the lyrics and music, and played nearly every sound that ended up on the record. However, this was the first time the 26-year-old worked in a professional studio with a producer, the indelibleLewis Pesacov (Best CoastFool’s Gold), over several weeks in Los Angeles. The combination of Marr’s intrinsic songwriting and Pesacov’s LA-defining production skills resulted in music with fuller breadth and scope than Ski Lodge’s previous release without losing any of the wry innocence that made 2011’s self-titled debut EP so much fun.The one exception is the lead single “Just To Be Like You,” which was recorded with the full band in Upstate New York using producer Kevin McMahon (The WalkmenReal Estate). Prefix Mag called the track “sugary sweet pop,” while Pitchfork warned its readers not to “be deceived by the energetic, hopscotching riff” before lauding the single’s dark depths. The song and its accompanying video of cult imagery are an exploration of contrast that fits in perfectly with both the album and Ski Lodge as a whole: deeply affecting and unmistakably danceable.

CSS Announce Upcoming US Tour Dates + Release “Hangover” Video

CSS_PR1_MarianaJuliano.1

While nothing can compare to the fondness one has to their hometown, the temptation to live in sunny and glamorous Los Angeles is hard to resist. Some of LA’s newest residents include the ladies of CSS; natives of Brazil, they have temporarily set up residence to record their new album Planta and to prepare for their upcoming US summer tour, hitting many East and West coast cities in June and July.

But before they hit the road CSS has released their new office space dance party of a video for “Hangover”, choreographed by Toni Basil of “Oh Mickey” fame and also directed by Basil and Matt Dilmore. You can watch and share the video HERE.

Songs like “Hangover” stand emblematic of the enigmatic style they collectively harnessed. Co-written with Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, it straddles the lines between pop, dance, and punk, while never losing its edge or cheeky sense of humor with lines equating hangovers and heartbreaks.

“It’s about being young and having fun,” Ana admits. “We hooked up with Tim, and we talked about how much we love reggae and reggaeton. It doesn’t necessarily sound like that, but we came up with something that anybody can move to.”

That energy courses through Planta from the shimmying and shaking electro-fied opener “Honey” to the tambourine dream of “Faith in Love.” In many ways, the album’s boundlessness has been CSS’s goal since the beginning. Other stand-outs included “Dynamite” featuring friend and guest Hannah Blilie of The Gossip.

CSS fans will get their chance to see “Hangover”, “Honey” and the band’s many more danceable tracks this summer on their June and July US tour. See the full list of dates below.

CINEMA SLEEP to Release Make Your Way EP March 19th

CINEMA SLEEP is redefining rock and roll, recording music that creates a balance between traditional heavy rock with melodic elements twisted with an occasional pop blend. The five musicians that form CINEMA SLEEP include Brady Reis, lead vocals, Alex Asch, lead guitar and keyboards, Robert McDonald, rhythm guitar, Ryan Meyers, bass guitar and Kevin Vincent, drums, have a stellar resume, quite an accomplishment, considering the bands average age is only 22. Each individually accomplished, their personal music styles and backgrounds bring a blend of Jazz, rock and pop. The members had played collectively in other bands and had huge followings, which made the creation of CINEMA SLEEP an exciting transition for their fans.

Produced by platinum record award winner, Kris Crummett, their debut album has been awaited by fans and critics alike and has been well received, being played on radio stations, even before it premiers .

The new EP titled, Make Your Way reflects the bands personal growth. Still maintaining a sound that made them popular with previous projects, this album takes the music to a whole new level with a more mature sound. Alex Asch who composes most of the music draws from his jazz training to “write the prettiest music he possibly can”. Lyricist, Brady Reis, “draws inspiration from personal experiences as well as his interpretation of today’s society.” The music coupled with the precision of this group of professional musicians creates magic.

What’s Popping With Lauren Winans

It was a rainy Monday afternoon. Sitting in a truck down by the Allegheny River, Heinz Field was visible in the distance beyond the streaky windshield and it was natural to ruminate on the Steelers’ hard luck after week 6 of the 2012 season. The scene was set for a lonesome, drizzly country song, but this dreary scene was burst in by some bubbliness – as Pittsburgh Music Magazine was about to learn – Lauren Winans, singer songwriter and proclaimed “Steeler Princess” (of the blog SteelerAddicts.com and Blitzburgh Radio podcasts) has left the country scene behind and been on the road to defining herself as a pop star to watch for.

Lauren has also been on the road back-and-forth between her hometown of Buckhannon, WV (outside of Morgantown and in the center of Steeler Country South) and Nashville, TN – where she has been writing song material that goes on to be cut by known artists as well as doggedly charting her own path toward recognition through her music and a variety of talent work and promotions. Pittsburgh Music Magazine spoke to Lauren while she was home to visit her family in West Virginia.

PMM:

The bio posted on your site (www.laurenwinans.com) depicts a lot of tenacity and drive to build your audience, but you are also making it now as a songwriter. In the spectrum of songwriter v. performer do you have a stronger interest in one or the other, would you be willing to give up one for the other? Do you have a preference for one or the other based on how things are going for you right now?

Lauren:

No… I love both songwriting and singing, because there is always an opportunity to get your song cut and be, you know… you never know, sometimes you’re more popular as a writer than you ever are as a singer. I mean look at Katy Perry, she has lots of songs cut by other people. These things are really something I want to choose between, but if something were to happen and I’m a more successful songwriter I’m not going to be upset, because it is still a really cool thing to do in life… but I can’t really pick.

PMM:

How long have you been working in Nashville and what were your first foots-in-the-door there?

Lauren:

I’ve been back and forth to Nashville since I was about 18, so about four years… and I’ve been living there for about two-and-a-half. And… you know, I was doing country at first and it wasn’t me …at all. So, I ended up [not moving there right away]… I was at Ke$ha’s house for a week, you know crazy Ke$ha. Then I went back home and did more country stuff because some people that first started to listen picked me up and tried to build some buzz around me… and I did a small radio tour and didn’t really enjoy it. So I went back to Nashville and a producer I had met there a while back got in touch with me and said, “I really feel like you’re pop, I feel like you’re doing the wrong thing.” And I was like “Me too,” so we ended up getting together and I started working with more of the pop writers, and that’s where we’re at now. Everything’s finally coming into place where I’m happy and that’s what suits me best.

PMM:

And that’s great because you really need that kind of common vision with your management and production. At the same time, within the pop realm, in listening to some of your music [No Boys Allowed, Lipstick, etc.] I hear some influence of country. What is a quality, or are some qualities of country music that did resonate with you even if that industry or focus in music wasn’t working for you?

Lauren:

I’m just not very country, the things that we right about and stuff… is just not something that country radio is going to play. There’s still some stuff out there on the Internet that still sounds like [the country music I was making], but what we did was we tracked in Nashville and then went out to LA and had it all synthesized, and came back and recorded vocals back out here in Nashville. I’m getting ready to release one of those songs and it is very techno-pop meets kind of the band-driven thing, but you’ll definitely hear a new sound. It’s definitely what I’m happy with and what’s popular right now, so I’m excited to release that.

PMM:

Nice. And you definitely mention some neo-divas as your influences, in particular Britney Spears.

Lauren:

I love Britney!

PMM:

And some of that definitely comes across strong in your videos, in terms of your performer aspect. Can you speak to that and what other artists, musicians, or forms of music that might be less obvious to someone hearing (and seeing) your work for the first time?

Lauren:

Yeah, I’m a hardcore Britney Spears fan and really, since “Hit Me Baby One More Time,” that’s really where I got most of my inspiration from, but… kind of growing up I really started to like Ashley Simpson, and I thought I wanted to be a little pop-rock star. A lot of the Christian artists I was listening to influenced me also, like Joy Williams – who’s part of the Civil Wars now – and Rachael Rampa, so there’s kind of a bunch of random artists in there, but Britney is definitely the main one… and I had to do everything Britney did… it was Britney, Britney, Britney! So, as far as that goes I am crazy about Britney Spears. Kind of sad, but it’s mainly all Britney Spears… all the way. Yes.

PMM:

Well, and to that end, there is also an awful lot out there in regard to your modeling and your video-blogging. How do you see that continuing with your music career where it’s at? Do you see yourself also taking that to a higher degree or is it dependent upon where you go with your music?

Lauren:

Well, I’ve got some really great sponsors: Hot Spot Tanning in Nashville does my spray tanning so that I always look pretty, Norvell is a part of that, Norvell Sunless Tanning, and Nashville Lash sponsors me, so I always have big  pretty eyelashes, and I am sponsored by a makeup company called SeneGence, and LipSence, and me and Christina Aguilera both wear their lip products, so that’s pretty cool. And Heels.com just joined on, so I am going to be promoting them. And I have been working with Plato’s Closet, and we’re having so much fun – there are going to be cardboard cutouts of me in their stores, wearing leather outfits and a Plato’s Closet bag. And I am also a huge, huge Steelers fan, so I have a little site called SteelersPrincess.com because I love my Steelers, and I have a couponing blog… so, I’m kind of just all over the place, but I don’t think I’d ever want to quit that kind of stuff because that’s a lot of fun… you can’t just be a singer, you have to do it all.

PMM:

And you have to stay diversified with your creativity… and I did want to ask you about what you are doing with the Steelers Princess and Blitzburgh Radio, because the real question is, how do you stay positive in a season like this so far…

Lauren:

I was at the game last week. And I’m not a fair-weather fan… you know, I was actually sitting on the end zone, surrounded by a bunch of Titans fans booing us – and all I could think was, “My god we are so much better than you,” which they are, we just had a bad game. I mean that kick… oh my god. But you know, we have six Superbowls. Those aren’t going anywhere. Some of the best players were out, and you know it’s all about the defense… and, I wasn’t expecting them to lose, but that’s OK. And so many people in Nashville are big Pittsburgh fans, so I saw so many people there with their jerseys on… and we have the most traveled fans.

PMM:

Do you have some musical inspirations around the topic of the Steelers?

Lauren:

Yeah, well I love Wiz Khalifa… and Snoop Dogg, and those two are such big Steelers fans. I’d love to get together and collaborate with them on a Steelers song, because so many people who are Steelers people who are also fans of them too and it would be great to get them turned on to my music… and just to meet them.

PMM:

So it is your second album, with the single release “Burn A Little More,” that is currently out there. Can you talk a bit about the studio experience in producing the album and how it vibes with what you said about doing the LA remixing and the new direction you are taking your music in?

Lauren:

Yeah… we spent the past year just writing songs that we felt fit with my whole package. Burn A Little More, you know, I love that song, I love that whole thing, but it still wasn’t me… as far as the dance-techno sound goes. So we started off writing a ton of material… kept writing and writing and writing, and we choose some really good songs that we felt definitely worked with the image and we’ve been recording and trying to raise money to finish it through pledge music.

I work with the humane society in Nashville, called Happy Tales Humane Society (as in happy stories about the animals), that has a no-kill shelter, and a percentage of what I make is going to go to them. It’s a super cute place, where all the dogs that they care for are fostered throughout the week, so that they are already cared for before they go to a home. It’s a fantastic place and I wanted to help them out and have them be part of my project, and I have a public service announcement coming up for them too, which I’m excited about.

I’ve gotten to do a lot of cool stuff this past year, I just hope for the coming year to be a bit more focused on my music with it coming out. I have had a lot of fun this year in working with my sponsors and doing a lot with them in forming new partnerships, and that’s definitely worth it, but I am really excited to get the music out there and finish it.

PMM:

So what songs should we listen for from your new production work?

Lauren:

The first single is called “You’re Gonna Love It,” and that is going to be kind of a slogan for all of my projects. Another title is “Loser,” they’re a lot of fun… another one that will come out is “Better At Breaking,” some of the singles titles to be looking for.

PMM:

Hmm… and “Loser” and “Better At Breaking” sound like they’re about some no-good guys… and I’m catching that vibe with your earlier songs “No Boys Allowed” and the theme of “Burn A Little More?” Is there a bit of angst with relationships behind some of your songwriting?

Lauren:

Yeah, no… “You’re Gonna Love It” is definitely the nicer part of me. [With these other songs] it’s about female empowerment. And, yeah, I’ve had a lot of problems with guys, that’s been a driving force, but I think that’s just something people relate to… that’s how things work out these days, so… my stories are put into songs for everybody else to laugh at, like, “Oh yeah, that happened to me too.” There is also a little bit of vulnerability behind it all, and I haven’t shown that yet, but that comes out in Better At Breaking… that’s definitely a different side.

PMM:

So, it is also kind of funny because people tend to think that Nashville is all about country, but obviously you are working there with more of a pop drive and there are others working in pop music…

Lauren:

Well yeah, I mean Paramour came right out of Nashville and, you know, Jack White lives right down the road for me… there’s definitely a lot of pop coming out of Nashville and, I mean look at Kelly Clarkson, it is definitely different than it used to be. So that’s exciting to me because I don’t have to travel everywhere.

PMM:

Then your time in LA, then was predominantly studio production time, or was it to pursue other connections?

Lauren:

We basically went in and got with somebody we knew… his dad was part of Chicago and his name is Will Champlin… he played on a Michael Jackson record and he is great with synthesized keyboard stuff… so basically the trip to LA was to work with him, but also I have been talking back-and-forth with a writer who has written with Katy Perry, he has songs with Jesse James and Selena Gomez… and I got to go meet with him, so it was more than just recording, but that was the main reason we went there.

PMM:

Will we be seeing you in Pittsburgh anytime soon?

Lauren:

Actually I would have loved to perform at the Steelers game against the Titans last week, but that would have been a bit of a conflict… me singing the National Anthem in Nashville in a Steelers jersey… I would have been booed out of the stadium by all of the Titans people, but I tell you, there were just as many Steelers fans there. I’d love to come to Pittsburgh and do some performances in connection to the football season next year.

Betty Black Unleashes Her Stormy Bad Weather EP

As an in-demand singer/songwriter and musician, SYLVIA GORDON (aka Sylvia Black of Kudu / Art World Killer) has gained international acclaim for her compelling collaborations with artists like Black Eyed Peas, Moby, William Orbit, Kelis, The Noisettes, Spank Rock, Benny Benassi and Telepopmusik.

With BETTY BLACK, Gordon steps out on her own conjuring a bewitching “southern gothic chanteuse” whose gripping barbed-wire tales about love, loss, lust and self-exploration are laced with haunting melodies, dynamic musicality and smoldering vocals – with equal parts smoke and bite – that cut like a sensuous blade right to your core.

On BAD WEATHER, the multi-talented musical chameleon delivers a feverish collection of rugged desert rock, pensive melancholic pop and wistful blues – with liberal doses of moody electronics, sharp-edged guitars, driving beats and lush strings.

Recorded at a farm house studio in the Shenandoah Valley, the set was produced and arranged by Gordon, co-producer/engineer Rudyard Lee Cullers (Yeah Yeah Yeahs / Basement Jaxx / Bright Eyes) and Jamin Gilbert. It’s an impressive showcase for the artist who plays bass and synths throughout and even steps out for the first time playing guitar on most of the tracks It’s also a notable departure (both stylistically and thematically) from her rapturous debut Slow Dance, which was a more romantic tinderbox of heartfelt torch songs about love, longing and blissful naiveté.

BAD WEATHER is a more tempestuous and darkly seductive exploration that howls with a primal intensity. There’s a pervasive undercurrent of danger and desire, vulnerability and bravado, urgency and introspection that draws you into its brooding melodrama.

The second installment in a trilogy of releases, the largely autobiographical fete includes the ominous title track and sultry “Am I Not Your Girl?” (both previously issued as singles), along with “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love”(a fiery retelling of the Van Halen classic) , hypnotic new single “Fatality Of Love”, sly country rocker “Paper Dolls”, “Killing Time” and the stargazing “Bitter Moon”.

Savoir Adore Stream Our Nature LP/Pittsburgh 10/23

On “Dreamers,” the dance-laden lullaby and lead single from Savoir Adore’s new album Our Nature, Paul Hammer and Deidre Muro invite listeners into a magical dream world. Such worlds are nothing new to the fantasy pop duo, who inadvertently became a fixture of Brooklyn’s indie scene as the result of a dare. In 2007, as disheartened solo artists, they whimsically retreated out of the city to a rural studio with two rules: “48 hours. No acoustic guitars.” They returned with The Adventures of Mr. Pumpernickel and The Girl with Animals in Her Throat (Cantora), a concept-driven EP set in a fairy tale land that narrates the tragedy of Gloria and her unrequited love. On 2009’s full length In The Wooded Forest (Cantora), they expounded on the EP’s mythical landscape. But where Savoir Adore’s previous releases have surveyed these worlds at a distance, Our Nature zooms in, putting our inner landscapes and relationships at the core of every track. In that vein, the recordings themselves are intentionally more crisp, aurally expansive and intriguing.

After recording the 2007 EP, Muro and Hammer hastily forged the grammatically faulty French moniker Savoir Adore for a MySpace page in order to share their experiments with friends. There was no turning back. The tracks caught on and made their way to Cantora Records, which released the EP as the duo began to work on a full length record. With the release of 2009’s In The Wooded Forest, the New York music press embraced Savoir Adore and set them on a path to expand their audience nationally and internationally. NME hailed Savoir Adore’s sound “musically and lyrically brave,” and Nylon praised it as “irresistibly melodic indie pop.” In 2009 and 2010, The L Magazine and The New York Post both named the band to their top bands to watch lists. Adding band members Tim McCoy (drums), Gary Atturio (bass) and Alex Foote (guitar), who took part in Our Nature’s recording process, the band shared the stage with MGMT, Los Campesinos, Oh Land, and Toro Y Moi.

In the summer of 2010, the band toured the UK and France, including shows at Koko/Club NME and The Secret Garden Party. Their songs have been featured in various commercials (Almay, Citi, Yoplait), TV shows (Pretty Little Liars, Drop Dead Diva, Huge) and video games (Kinect Adventurer). During the 2012 Academy Awards, Tide premiered its new Tide Pods campaign featuring Savoir Adore’s cover of Men Without Hats’ “Pop Goes the World” (available on iTunes).

In late 2011, Savoir Adore offered a sneak peak of Our Nature, releasing “Dreamers” as a 7” on Neon Gold Records. With the release of the full album in 2012, Savoir Adore will hit the road to promote Our Nature and invite listeners, if only for night, into their magical realm.

YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN Release New Single via Adult Swim & Reveal Details for New Rock Opera

Known as much for their progressive approach to melding psychedelia, opera and metal as they are for their captivating, and completely stunning live shows, there is never a dull moment in the world of YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN.

YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN have released a new track as part of the Adult Swim Singles Program, “Lamia.” The track can be downloaded here as well as seen live as part of a recent in-store performance at Sonic Boom during NXNE.

The band, who was recently shortlisted for the Polaris Prize alongside Grimes, Cadence Weapon, Japandroids and Drake, are releasing a split 7″ with fellow nominees Fucked Up to coincide with the awards, followed by a never before seen 33 minute rock opera. Premeiering at this year’s Pop Montreal Festival and presented in three parts, “33 // 渦” explores ancient Asian and North American mythology in a contemporary setting, replete with aging drag queens, desire, fame, jealousy and murder. You can catch them at the festival when they premiere the opera in Montreal on September 21st.

Also, Paper Bag Records has just signed YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN for Canada and is re-issuing the LP on vinyl. You can buy it digitally now or order the vinyl here.

YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN are a psychedelic noh-wave opera group fusing noise, metal, pop and folk music into a multidisciplinary hyper-orientalist cesspool of ‘eastern’ culture in giant monochrome paper sets. Blending Noh, Peking Opera, Buddhist Ritual Punk, Taiko Shows, Tokusatsu, Performance Art, Rock Opera & their own mangaesque cardboard ‘NEVERFLAT’ style of 2.5D set design, their bizarre form of music//altheater have awked and shawed audiences in Montreal for several years.

Founded in early 2008 by performance artists alaskaB and Ruby Kato Attwood, from the ashes of ‘Yellow Peril’, YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN functions as a mutating and constantly evolving art cult that brings together individuals of Diasporic and Indigenous identity to perform/create as a collective. Working in multiple mediums including Installation, Theater, Music and Design, YT//ST negotiate cultural clashes between dominant cultures and those whose traditions are oppressed, erased or being eclipsed.

YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN continues to operate now between Montreal & Toronto
