The Sword in Pittsburgh September 29th @StageAE with Opeth

The Sword is from Texas (Austin) and released their latest album, High Country, on August 21st to rave reviews. The band received great press from Village Voice, Revolver, Brooklyn Vegan, USA Today’s “Dad Rock”, Alternative Press, and many more. The album debuted at #14 upon release. The band is set to release the acoustic version of the release on September 23rd called Low Country.

The Sword Bio:

There’s an unspoken edict handed down through the ages when it comes to rock bands: there are no rules.

Nobody picks up a guitar to be constricted or oppressed. It’s all about feeling free artistically. Now, The Sword—John Cronise [vocals, guitar], Kyle Shutt [guitar], Bryan Richie [bass], and Santiago Vela III [drums]—cut out boundaries since day one. Their style never stood predicated on a trend or a template. They always create what feels right and let the results speak for themselves.

When it came time to record the group’s fifth full-length album, High Country [Razor & Tie], Cronise landed at something of a spiritual crossroads. Following the final tour for their critically acclaimed Apocryphon, he holed up in his North Carolina home and eventually began writing new songs. The material began to veer into a different space that at the time Cronise felt was somewhat outside of The Sword’s sphere.

“I didn’t even intend for the demos to be Sword songs,” he explains. “But then I realized that I had taken on a sort of limiting view of what The Sword was, and that wasn’t actually what I wanted it to be. I think the new album is more reflective of the music I listen to and where our heads are at collectively. With each of our albums, it’s become less about fury and bombast and more about trying to write good songs. We realized that our music can go wherever we want it to go. There’s no pre-determined course here now, and there never was.”

High Country became new territory for The Sword, and they began doing things differently. That approach included more attention to backing vocals and harmonies, implementing more synthesizers and percussion elements, and tuning to E-flat instead of all the way down to C. As a result, the guitars stand out as more vital and vibrant than ever.

“I felt like the low tuning had become more of a crutch than a tool,” he says. “It was all a matter of trying to keep things fresh, and not fall prey to habits or expectations. We wanted to break out of any classifications and just put out a good rock record.”

Inspired, the boys headed to Church House Recording Studio in Austin, TX to cut High Country with Adrian Quesada of Brownout and Grupo Fantasma producing, Stuart Sykes [The White Stripes] engineering, and J. Robbins mixing. Over the course of four weeks, they hammered out the album’s 15 tracks in the old converted church. Thematically though, Cronise’s head was still in North Carolina.

“There are a lot of lyrical themes that run throughout the album,” he explains. “I live out in the mountains, so nature really inspired the whole record. That’s a large part of the lyrics.”

The title track and first single “High Country” springs from a transfixing guitar melody into a sweeping refrain, illuminating the group’s inherent dynamics. Over those rolling riffs, the singer paints a thought-provoking topography.

“That was actually the first song I wrote that ended up going on the record,” he says. “The title can have quite a few meanings. Physically, it might mean mountains and literal high country, but it can also refer to a plane of being; a place of wisdom and enlightenment.”

“Empty Temples” opens with a psychedelic buzz that quickly ramps up into towering guitars and another robust vocal display evocative of rock’s golden age.

“It’s loose and swinging, but it has these epic moments,” says Cronise. “Lyrically, it’s about letting go of the past and moving on. You just have faith if you embrace change and be unafraid, and you’ll find where you need to go.”

The gathering storm of “Early Snow” eventually gives way to a rapturous horn section, another first for the band, while “Mist and Shadow” stirs up a haze of blues that’s instantly thunderous. “That song is based around riffs written by Bryan, which is a new thing for us. He contributed quite a bit of music to this album, and in many ways it’s our most collaborative work to date.”

Both “The Dreamthieves” and “Tears Like Diamonds” have titles inspired by the work of science fiction author Michael Moorcock, though Cronise insists the lyrics have lives of their own. “I’d prefer to let people interpret the songs how they want,” he says, “which is one reason the lyrics aren’t printed in the album sleeve this time. I think they’re pretty intelligible and accessible, and I didn’t want them to distract from the music.”

The Sword’s impact continues to expand. 2012’s Apocryphon debuted at #17 on the Billboard Top 200, marking their highest entry on the chart. Since first emerging with 2006’s Age of Winters, the group has been extolled by everyone from Rolling Stone and The Washington Post to Revolver and Decibel. Metallica personally chose them as support for a global tour, and they’ve earned high-profile syncs in movies including Jennifer’s Body and Jonas Åkerlund’s Horsemen. However, High Country is the band’s biggest, boldest, and brightest frontier.

“I want to make positive, uplifting music,” Cronise leaves off. “High Country has moments of darkness and thoughtfulness, as anything I write probably will. But at the end of the day I want to put smiles on people’s faces.”

SABATON Prepares for Battle – U.S. Tour with Trivium and Huntress/Pittsburgh date 10/10 @StageAE

Introducing New Guitarist Tommy Johansson

New Album The Last Stand Out Now via Nuclear Blast

In just three weeks, Swedish metal favorites SABATON – recognized globally by fans for their unique brand of historical battle-themed metal – will return to the United States for the 2016 “Silence In The Snow” Fall Tour with headliners Trivium and fellow special guest Huntress. This is a can’t-miss line-up! The tour begins on September 15 in Columbus, OH and comes to a close on October 21 st in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Pick up your tickets via www.sabaton.net/tour and see below for all current tour dates.
These dates will be the first time U.S. fans get to see SABATON performing with their new guitarist Tommy Johansson. The band issued a statement yesterday regarding the departure of their former guitarist Thobbe En glund and the addition of Johansson: “Thank you Thobbe, welcome Tommy! Our guitar player Thobbe did his final concert with us on last Saturday’s very emotional show at the SABATON OPEN AIR festival. Celebrating the release of our new album while saying goodbye to a great friend is lots of mixed feelings. But the future is bright since this was not nearly our last stand, from now on you will see Tommy Johansson playing guitars with SABATON and we all look forward to see you on the road!”
Johansson added:“For me to be a part of the SABATON family is a huge honor and I couldn’t be happier! The guys are awesome and among the nicest people you can meet. I’ve been following SABATON since 2005 when I saw them live for the first time and I have loved the band ever since, so when they asked me to join there was no hesitation. Although, they did ask me already back in 2012 but for many personal reasons it was not a good time for me to hit the road and give everything that was needed to the band. So I declined, but we have stayed in touch since then. I also want to say that Thobbe is a great guitarist and such a wonderful guy! My job is not to replace him, it’s to contribute to the band with my own style of guitar playing but of course also to keep his fans happy by playing his wonderful solos with pride. I look forward to meet you all on tour and to do what I love the most in life – to play heavy metal!”
Last Friday, August 19, SABATON released their latest album The Last Stand via Nuclear Blast. You can order your copy of the heavy metal masterpiece now in various physical formats, or digitally. For fans who want a little extra, don’t miss the “Tank Edition”.

About SABATON:
Formed in Falun, Sweden in 1999, SABATON is best known for singing almost exclusively about historical wars and battles, a direction the band members decided to take on after watching the 1999 Academy Award-winning film Saving Private Ryan. The band thoroughly researches their topics to ensure the songs paint accurate and objective portraits of the historical event they’re singing about, which are narrated from an omniscient point-of-view or in first-person as a soldier caught in the line of fire.  Like their home country of Sweden,SABATON aims to remain politically neutral in their role as musical war historians.SABATON have reached their unshaken position as heavy metal’s AAA-torchbearer after releasing ingenious studio recordings and playing endless amount of unforgettable live shows. The Last Stand is another unquestionable and bulletproof evidence of SABATON‘s top class abilities and it will be followed by the band’s most gigantic world tour to date.

ABOUT SLAYER
For more than three decades, Slayer’s onslaught has proven the band to be the supreme thrash-metal band on the planet, the band that other heavy acts are measured against and aspire to. The two-time Grammy-winners have also accumulated an abundance of certified Gold Albums along with “Best…” awards from media outlets all over the world, including Kerrang!SPINMetal HammerRevolver, and Esquire.  Throughout Slayer’s history, the band has never faltered in unleashing its extreme and focused sonic assault, and, unlike many of its contemporaries who “commercialized” their sound, Slayer has remained crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the mainstream.  Slayer’s founding member, guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed in 2013, and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has been filling in for him since.  Paul Bostaph, who was Slayer’s drummer from ’94 – ’01, has rejoined bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King, and is back behind the kit.
In September 2015, Slayer released Repentless, the band’s 12th studio album, the first without Hanneman and first with producer Terry Date, to widespread rave reviews and the highest chart debut of the band’s career. The band also teamed up with director BJ McDonnell for two high-concept and brutal music videos for the album’s “Repentless” (9.5-million views) and then for  “You Against You.” (4.2-million views).

21 year old Arizona native, Zella Day Kerr, is the real deal in Pittsburgh

Review and photos: Dawn Morris

You know you are spending too much time on Instagram when you are stalking a friend’s favorite band featuring another band. A few degrees of separation and you may have run across Zella Day.

21 year old Zella Day Kerr is an Arizona native and rising indie sensation. The sexy singer is summer stomping all over the world to promote her 2015 album Kicker along with her latest single Mustang Kids. Her stops included coveted festival gigs like Bonnaroo and Coachella. She is featured on the latest album from Nahko and Medicine for the People.

Head over to her Tumblr and you will find an amusing q&a stream #answertime. Fan’s questions range from genuine to utterly ridiculous. While the answers are spirited and so very young, somewhere in there you see a sweet soul.  “Quiet summers that smell like rain”, are the favorite thing about Zella’s hometown.

Seeing Zella and her band live is a treat though. A quick stop in Pittsburgh (to open for Fitz and the Tantrums) showed her amazing talent live. Even a downpour kept her fans outside until the next to last song. The group is in sync and the sound is strong. The only small misstep was a Stevie Nicks cover (Zella’s only cover in the set) that started off so so and ended ok. With raw talent there is no reason not to stick to your own music.

In a time of indie overload it is easy to get lost in all the warm and fuzzy wanderlust. But Zella is the real deal. With a voice that delivers and a beauty that is almost ethereal there is something for everyone. It is easy to forget they are still small enough to have the keyboard player at the merch tent before the set.

Fitz and the Tantrums bring back soul infused sound to Pittsburgh’s Stage AE

Review and photos: Dawn Morris

Only 8 years into their career, LA based indie band Fitz and the Tantrums released their 3rd  (and) self titled album. Promoting the album was the Get Right Back tour, which landed Thursday, at Stage AE.

The surprisingly young crowd was crazy enthusiastic. The weather was not. Toward the end of opener Zella Day’s set the skies opened up and the wind reached 40mph.

Queue stampede indoors. Everyone watched on the monitors as a few lonely souls saved their place up front while covered in garbage bags.

It was well after 9 by the time the band took the stage.

The show was predictable. When entering the scene there was a glimmer of hope that Fitz and the Tantrums would bring back soul infused sound with a dash of 80’s pop. Now the songs seem to run together, virtually indistinguishable.

On the upside they are high energy and have a faithful following.  The fans were happily dancing along in their soggy shoes.

Noelle Scaggs was smoking hot in outfit and in vocals. She is high energy. If a band has a pulse, she would be the heartbeat.

Michael Fitzpatrick was either off his game or not pleased to be singing in the rain.

When the band broke in 2010 they were super fun, a little campy, and an easy listen. Now they are a little underwhelming. Perhaps, in Pittsburgh, they were just under the weather.

OPETH TO RELEASE 12TH STUDIO ALBUM, ‘SORCERESS,’ ON SEPTEMBER 30TH/Live in Pittsburgh, PA – Stage AE

July 18, 2016 – Los Angeles, CA – 2016 marks the monumental return of one of heavy rock’s most unique, revered and fearless bands of the last three decades, OPETH. Over the years, the experimental, prog veterans have continuously reinvented themselves, pushing the boundaries of their craft and expectations of fans and critics alike. Today, OPETH announces their 12th album, Sorceress, will be released on September 30th and have unveiled the artwork and track list for their imminent masterpiece.
OPETH’s new album, Sorceress, their first for Nuclear Blast via the band’s imprint label Moderbolaget Records, is proof chief architect Mikael Åkerfeldt has a near-endless well of greatness inside. From the album’s opener “Persephone” to “The Wilde Flowers” and “Strange Brew” to the album’s counterpart title tracks “Sorceress” and “Sorceress II,” OPETH’s twelfth full-length is an unparalleled adventure, where visions cleverly and secretly change, colors mute as if weathered by time, and sounds challenge profoundly.
”The new album ”Sorceress” is our 12th studio album since our beginnings in 1990,” says Åkerfeldt. “I find it difficult to understand that we’ve been going on for 26 years, let alone that we’ve made 12 records now, all of which I am very proud of. ”Sorceress” is no exception. I love this album, as does the whole band. I wrote the music during 5-6 months and we spent only 12 days recording it at Rockfield studios in Wales. I find that once again we’ve taken a step forward. Or sideways, Or backwards. Somewhere!? It’s different! It’s extremely diverse. And if I may say so myself, extremely good. I feel the right to say that since I like to think I know this band better than anyone on the planet. Also, I always manage to detach myself from the record and listen as a fan. It’s a fine little record. My favorite in our discography right now. Of course. That’s how it should be, right? It’s both fresh and old, both progressive and rehashed. Heavy and calm. Just the way we like it. Hopefully there’ll be others around the globe sharing this opinion. It was a joy to make it. A fucking joy to record it, and a sheer joy listening to it. So there you have it!”
For Sorceress, OPETH returned to Rockfield Studios in Wales, also home to pivotal releases from Queen, Rush and Judas Priest, where the Swedes had tracked Pale Communion in 2014 with Tom Dalgety. The band spent 12 days recording at the countryside venue among its serene and inspiring surroundings. The result is nothing short of a powerful and intriguing record that will add yet another layer to the band’s celebrated career.
OPETH will return to North America this fall for a headline tour, which will kick off with a performance atOzzfest/Knotfest on September 24th in San Bernardino, CA. The excursion will continue with special guest The Sword through the following month before wrapping up on October 26th in Vancouver, BC.

The song has been heard in the advertising campaign for the Fiat 500X Crossover (view the latest adHERE) and in this trailer for the film Storks. It is also being used as the official song for The CW’s 2016 Summer and Fall Image Campaigns. “HandClap” is No. 1 on Billboard & Clio Music’s Top Commercials chart for the month of May. View Fitz and The Tantrums performing “HandClap” on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” HERE and see the official video, directed by Marc Klasfeld (Wiz Khalifa, Twenty One Pilots), HERE.

DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 with AWOLNATION @StageAE on 7/7

Sonic assailants Death From Above 1979 is coming through Pittsburgh on a tour with AWOLNATION atStage AE on Thurs, July 7th

Death From Above 1979 Live From Third Man Records was released last month.

Check it out here…

Bio:

The first whispers of Death From Above 1979 occurred late last century when Jesse F. Keeler was busy playing punk rock music in Euro squats, while Sebastien Grainger took acid in Montreal then watched his friend Evan put on women’s clothing to the tune of Deep Purple’s In Rock and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar, Original Cast Recording. Following a brief obsession with the technological apocalypse known as “Y2K,” the Western world started asking interesting questions again and these questions led to answers. These answers, in the Socratic style, were also questions; “Hey, What happened?” and “What is the internet, really?” These questions, in turn, were answered with yawns. Then in June 2000, when everyone was still waking up from the dream/nightmare known as The Nineties, Jesse and Sebastien bumped shoulders while stretching out at a Sonic Youth show in Toronto. What followed was a brief yet fertile courtship; countless nights driving around Toronto listening to Robert Johnson and Mobb Deep, the Rolling Stones and Daft Punk—anything but “heavy music.” Soon, they found themselves behind their instruments, Jesse and Sebastien both playing hard and loud because it felt good. Their rehearsals were punctuated by absurdist conversation and postadolescent shenanigans. At this time, “free beer” meant walking around a bar drinking the ends of other people’s bottles. This age of innocence lasted roughly until the Canadian national holiday of All Hollow’s Eve in 2004, when our two heroes released their debut long-playing record, “You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine.” What followed was an inhumane amount of touring. Together in a battered baby blue van, they affectionately named “Vangina,” they sprouted up from the soil of hardcore and punk rock to the bright lights and smoke machines of the rock ‘n’ roll stage. Soon, tensions began to rumble beneath; a secret UFC-style battle of egos, alcohol and other famed indulgences. But the two spry bucks maintained solidarity and all frustration and explicit emotions were locked away in a blackened cast iron kettle in the pits of their bellies. One day, those two kettles screeched with the steam song of the industrial revolution, and thus, the band broke up. After that day, a force divided, the two men toiled in the fields of dance music and rock ‘n’ roll for five years without a word muttered between them. For a time, that was the end. In 2010, with a decade-long divide, Jesse and Sebastien met again, not unlike the first time. Their reunion was sparked by an overwhelming demand from an un-satiated public to see this force of humanity perform. In 2011, the narrative resumed with a year-long reunion tour that cemented not only their place in the current cultural landscape, but also their legend. The excitement of playing live again drove them to that old, Socratic Method that often leaves more questions than answers. Questions beget questions, and what came next is where we are: the present. Its 10 years later and we’re still writing our own bios, still playing too loud and still punctuating it all with absurdity. In the fall of 2014, we will release our first record together in a decade. Our epic proposal, entitled “The Physical World” was written and recorded between 2012 and 2014 in some real life Rorschach test where the past and present are perfectly symmetrical and equally terrifying. We hope you enjoy.

Sebastien and Jesse

Vesuvius Premieres Controversial Music Video

Band Not Afraid to Touch on Sensitive Topics in Video for “Hibernate”
Canadian metalcore/post-hardcore band, Vesuvius, premiered their new video for “Hibernate” off their debut album, “My Place of Solace and Rest”. The video is very special to the band as it touches on personal experiences, vocalist Ben Cooligan elaborates, “Hibernate is a lyrical recollection of my personal struggle with bullying, however I wanted its visual counterpart to be more enigmatic and relatable. The characterization of the protagonist is meant to be representative of an ambiguous oppressed or outlier-centric demographic. The general thesis behind the story-line revolves around the martyrization of society’s youth, and that unless we are unanimous in growth and acceptance of differences, we as a unit stand powerless.”
Cooligan further goes on about how Vesuvius isn’t afraid to push boundaries with their art, “For example, the word ‘faggot’ is strategically utilized to exemplify the power of language that we must work towards eliminating from our vocabulary. So to speak, it is testament of how far we’ve come, yet a reminder of how much further we have to go. This video is dedicated first and foremost to anybody who is oppressed by homo or transphobia on a daily basis, however I am hopeful that something can be taken from it despite orientation or background.”
Vesuvius just wrapped up the “My Place of Solace and Rest Tour pt I” and will head out on their first run of U.S. dates on pt II of the tour which kicks off on 6/20 and features support from Curses and Change Is. Physical copies of “My Place of Solace and Rest” are available at merchbucket and at all major digital distributors.

About Vesuvius
Hailing from the birthplace of Ottawa, ON., Vesuvius brings forth an identity that cannot be disclosed within one particular genre of music. Since their formation in early 2015, the band began working on a blueprint that encompasses a vast expanse of musical influences and intends on defying the millennial archetype of what the youth of today deem to be a rock or metal act.
Unlike the majority of bands playing in their scene today, Vesuvius is a composition of organic means. Ben Cooligan (vocals), Billy Melsness (vocals), Robin Parsons (synth/turntables), Michael Luc Malo (guitars) and Carter Peak (percussion) came together as five friends with a unanimous goal to transform what was once a hobby into a labour of love and passion. Their quintet dynamic allows for them to translate an incredibly emotive craft into an energetic and wholly entertaining live performance from beginning until completion.
Their first full length album, “My Place of Solace and Rest” (tracks 1-4 engineered/mixed/mastered by Frank Shooflar , tracks 5-8 mixed/mastered by Shooflar and engineered by Doug Meadows) was an integral component of how the band caught the eye of Tragic Hero Records.  “We have personal friends who have partnered with Tragic Hero Records and swear by the company. We wanted to make sure to work with a label that cares about their artists’ creative integrity, making Tragic the most suitable route to take” Melsness said.
“My Place of Solace and Rest” will be the debut of what the band trademarks as the “Vesuvius sound”. Cooligan describes it as “a theme implemented throughout the music that refers to the structure of each piece the two have put together. Each song is structured with an “emotional crux” often sitting in the middle of the piece. Throughout the build and break of the tracks, each piece ebbs and flows in order to create the greatest impact when it reaches its climax.”
The album was released on May 6th and the band is gearing up for their first U.S. tour which starts in June.

moe Brings Their “Big World” Jam to Pittsburgh’s Stage AE

moe has an unbelievably dedicated fanbase. “The quintet has drawn upwards of 6,000 fans to two-night stands at such storied venues as New York’s Beacon Theatre, Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom and Denver’s Fillmore (Facebook)”.  Even though Stage AE was not packed to capacity, it was filled with some true fans who braved the cold to see their favorite band…and I mean their FAVORITE band.  I’ve never seen so many people with the headliners tee on from so many different tours and events.  I don’t think I saw any repeats at all.  That says a lot for these guys who formed out of The University of Buffalo.

moe is generally known as a jam band from the same branch as the Dead, Phish, etc.   Guitarist Al Schnier was asked to describe moe for those who have never heard their music: “It’s an amalgamation of a wide variety of the history of rock, all regurgitated and recycled through the eyes, ears, hands, whatever of the guys in our band and all of that with a sense of adventure, a sense of humor, also a constant desire to push the envelope. All in this arena of taking chances, improvising live, and making things up on the spot. (Wikipedia)”.  They could fit on many a festival stage, but certainly have a sound all their own.  The surprising thing may be, for the un-initiated, is how incredibly proficient each of the members of moe is on their instrument, especially guitarists Chuck and Al, who are down right masters.  They are incredibly multi-faceted which allows them to blend many different genres into the moe brand.

The set played at Stage AE Pittsburgh was truly impressive and was a nice retrospective of their material.  the crowd certainly was into it the entire time, which is always a good judgement factor.  The lighting was also excellent and added to the overall mood of the show which was upbeat and playful.

G. Love & Special Sauce Brings Their Alt-Hip Hop Style To Pittsburgh’s Stage AE

“The whole thing about lemonade for me was when I first set out from Philly to make it in the music world I went up to Boston, and I would just sit on the front porch of my place after playing the streets or practicing and make myself a big pitcher of lemonade. It just symbolized old time porch loungin’ for that’s where I did a lot of my shedding and writing. It was so simple and great, I said, if I ever get a record deal I’m going to get Lemonade tattooed on my arm.” (Facebook)  G. Love & Special Sauce, the alternative hip-hop band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, graced Stage AE Pittsburgh, PA last week on Feb 8, 2014 with their unique, “sloppy”, and “laid back” blues sound that encompasses classic R&B.  The crowd had a great time before, during, and after the show and witnessed a spectacular set…

It’s there all right, and seven albums, thirteen years, and over a million worldwide units later, “Lemonade” is the most cohesive and rewarding album Garrett Dutton – a.k.a. G. Love (guitar, vocals, harmonica, sweat and tears) has ever delivered. Produced and engineered in the womb of Philadelphonic Studios by Chris DiBeneditto (Electric Mile & Philadelphonic) and faithfully anchored by the Sauce, Jimi “Jazz” Prescott (acoustic bass), and Jeffrey “Thunderhouse” Clemens (drums, percussion), G. pairs up with some of the best players in the game including Ben Harper, Donovan Frankenreiter, Jasper, Dave Hidalgo (Los Lobos), Blackalicious, Marc Broussard, Tristan Prettyman and Jack Johnson on a fourteen song celebration of his iconic career (Facebook).

Before You Exit Premiere “Soldier” Video on Radio Disney

The pop trio, known as Before You Exit, have exclusively released their video for hit single, “Soldier”, on RadioDisney.comhere:http://bit.ly/1eUjkH1Directed by Martin and Oscar Ubilluz from MU2 Productions, the band tells us “Ever since this song came out we have received some of the most amazing and heartfelt letters telling us how this song has truly affected and changed people’s lives. Some would say how they were going through hard times at home or at school and just listening to “Soldier” reminded them that there is hope. This song and video mean so much to us and we really hope it does to others too.”

The band has also announced Plug In Stereo as direct support for their upcoming The Dangerous Tour starting in Raleigh, NC on March 18th. The band released their new EP, I Like That, last February with their latest single, the title track, recently peaking at #4 on Radio Disney Top 30 Countdown. When you combine the creative intuition of musical brothers with the wisdom and input of chart-topping songwriters, you get an album of finely crafted pop bursting with spirited authenticity. Though the three brothers in Before You Exit were just in their teens, they had the talent, sophistication, and confidence to find their distinct pop-rock aesthetic through writing with such songwriting heavyweights. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit:www.BeforeYouExit.com.

The Orlando, Florida-based band of brothers have been playing ever since they were little. The group consists of Connor McDonough, 20, (Vocals/Guitar), Riley McDonough, 18, (Vocals), and younger brother Toby McDonough, 16, (Vocals/Guitar) and they’ve already began to make their mark on the world.

With their most recent EP, I Like That, the three brothers have crafted a soaring pop album of uplifting relationship songs that effortlessly blend sharp hooks with bright and buoyant rock.“We were searching for a sound, and wrote with as many people as we could. It helped us grow and write better songs. For this album we wrote 30 to 40 songs and picked our favorites,” Riley McDonough says. The band drew inspiration and wrote songs from sessions with such seasoned vets as Robert Ellis Orall (Taylor Swift), Dan Book and Alexei Misoul (Hot Chelle Rae), Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low), Bobby Huff, and Stephen Barker Liles (Love and Theft). The album standout and first single, “I Like That”, is a tune with tenderly romantic lyrics and big pop-rock beat. Ryan Daly and Anthony Improgo, along with Connor McDonough, produced the album. “They really listened to what we wanted to do and let us try out our ideas, no matter how crazy,” Connor says laughing. “Because of that, we feel really connected to the way the recording turned out,” Riley adds. The group is even more excited for the release of their brand new music coming soon!

With Before You Exit’s release, the I Like That EP, the bandhas been critically acclaimed by the likes of MTV, J-14, Seventeen, Radio Disney, Teen, Teen Vogue, Popstar!, Just Jared, just to name a few. The band has also toured/played with high profile acts such as Cody Simpson, Olly Murs, The Wanted, Fifth Harmony, and even the Jonas Brothers.

Conjuring up the optimism in the band’s name-inspired by the sentiment “make a difference before you exit“- the band works daily to make their way to the top but they never fail to stop and appreciate what has got them thus far.“There’s no way we’d be anywhere without our incredible fans. They are behind us every step of the way and are a huge piece of this band,” states youngest brother, Toby. In light of the many short lived and fly by night artists, this young, singer/songwriting, brother driven band, is one to be around for a while.

Watch new Ingrid Michaelson video “Girls Chase Boys”/Stage AE May 25

Singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson single, “Girls Chase Boys” from her upcoming album  Lights Out (avail April 15th) is available now. The video for “Girls Chase Boys” features ingenious choreography and artistic direction that pays homage to Robert Palmer’s, “Simply Irresistible.”

“‘Girls Chase Boys'” started out as a break up song but took on a deeper meaning as I continued writing.” More than just being about my experience, its focus shifted to include the idea that, no matter who or how we love, we are all the same. The video takes that idea one step further and attempts to turn stereotypical gender roles on their head. Girls don’t exclusively chase boys, we all know this. We all chase each other and in the end we are all chasing after the same thing: love.” – Ingrid Michaelson

Lights Out, Ingrid Michaelson’s  fifth studio album, will be released on April 15th via Cabin 24/Mom+Pop and is now available to pre-order through  iTunes.

Ingrid Michaelson will embark on a nationwide tour that kicks off April 21st in Montreal at Le National and will visit major markets such as Seattle, Portland, Austin, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, DC concluding on June 1st in Boston at the House of Blues. Full tour dates are below.

“Ingrid Michaelson has made the video of 2014… Ingrid Michaelson is today’s little voice that’s making the loudest of sound”

Refinery29

“This can easily be the biggest hit of her career! This song is such a smash! We have been playing it on repeat”

Perez Hilton

“It’s sexual without being sexist, and the end result is something that feels pretty empowering and straight-up fun.”

Upworthy

“Already gained traction for not only its remake… but also its gender-bending backup dancers… As the music industry progresses to include a wider array of sexuality and gender expression, Michaelson’s video will soon become the new normal.”

The Washington Post

“Ingrid Michaelson has legit done it, AGAIN! TRANSLATION: IT’S PERFECT”

MTV Buzzworthy

“The singer immediately responded to criticism on Facebook… Nobody messes with Ingrid”

Before You Exit Announce The Dangerous Tour/Stage AE PGH 3/28

The pop trio, known as Before You Exit, have announced their upcoming The Dangerous Tour starting in Raleigh, NC on March 18th with special guests to be announced. VIP Packages will go on sale tonight and tickets will be open to the general public this Saturday, February 8th. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit: www.BeforeYouExit.com.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY has been announced as this year’s headliner for the 2014 REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS TOUR, presented by EPIPHONE. The tour will kick off the second week of April and finish up in early June. Supporting acts are set to be announced soon.

The band, led by guitar icon Zakk Wylde recently announced the release of “Catacombs of the Black Vatican,” their highly anticipated new LP due out April 8th, 2014. In addition to the album art and track listing, BLS released their first all new single titled, “My Dying Time,” heard here.

Zakk Wylde recently appeared on VH1 Classic’s That Metal show and stopped by The Artie Lange show while in NYC to talk all things “Catacombs of the Black Vatican.”

The Revolver Golden Gods Tour follows up last year’s Road to the Golden Gods Tour, which was headlined by STONE SOUR, and like that trek, it ties into the Revolver Golden Gods, America’s only hard-rock and heavy-metal award show. The details of the 2014 edition of that show will be announced shortly.

“Catacombs of the Black Vatican” is the first all new LP from BLS since “The Order of the Black”was released in 2009, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

The band recently announced “An Evening With Zakk Wylde,” a 13-city Canadian tour across Canada featuring intimate versions of some of the band’s most popular songs, as well as songs from Wylde’s best-selling solo album “Book of Shadows.

Since their late nineties inception, Black Label Society, formed by guitar legend Zakk Wylde, has been at the forefront of their genre. Their taste for hard riffs and blazing solos has resulted in a slew of hugely successful albums and a reputation as one of the most powerful live bands of their generation.

Zakk Wylde, who has been called one of the true guitar heroes in modern history, served as Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist for over 20 years in addition to his work with BLS. This collaboration led to a string of multi-platinum albums, including Osbourne’s biggest selling “No More Tears,” for which Wylde wrote all the music.

In addition to holding Guitar World Magazine’s MVP four years straight Wylde has been bestowed with such accolades as “Best Rock Guitarist” from Guitar Player,  “Metal Guru” from the recently held Classic Rock awards in the UK, “Golden God” by Metal Hammer, the “Best Guitarist” Award from Revolver Magazine. Wylde has proven time and time again that his songwriting, guitar prowess, and on-stage persona, along with his larger-than-life personality, have made him a force to be reckoned with.

Black Label Society continues to enthrall fans around the globe, and “Catacombs of the Black Vatican” is another incredible piece in the band’s catalog.
