DEAD TO A DYING WORLD: Dallas Apocalyptic Crust Sextet Confirms Immense Sophomore Album

Dallas, Texas-based blackened doom congregation, DEAD TO A DYING WORLD,will enter the studio in the near future to record the band’s sophomore full-length release. The band is preparing to record this time with renowned sonic decimation engineer, Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis, Melvins), who will undertake the arduous task of harnessing their massive sophomore album. The new opus, bearing the title Litany, will take the band’s already powerful chaos-driven approach to new chasms of sonic exploration, with enough material planned to fill two full 12″ platters, as with their debut release. Litanywill also feature collaborations and contributions from members of Sabbath Assembly, Pinkish Black, and Ecocide.

Litany was developed with the themes of isolation, insanity, and reflection in a time of global devastation, evoking the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth; this new chapter reveals the aftermath of the self-titled release. From the ashes, we find three warring clans who personify each theme and embody their own unique struggles, each clan has sought their own way of survival in an unforgiving world, some in search for higher meaning, and others through methods of irrevocable cruelty. These concepts are explored individually and finally together, representing by synecdoche, our own struggles in modern society.

Further info on the album’s label destination, release date and more will be available upon completion of Litany in the coming months.

Founded in 2010, DEAD TO A DYING WORLD incorporates cello, violins, and upright bass elements and more into a morose but intimidating end-time style of doom, with a putrid, blackened weight to their waves of slow-motion, Apocalypse inspired doom dirges and a harrowing double-vocalist approach. With several tours in different regions of the countries since inception, the band’s self-titled 2xLP album was produced by Phillip Cope of Kylesa and released via Tofu Carnage Records in 2011.

PINKISH BLACK set to release Razed to the Ground

Los Angeles, CA – “Lots of good, lots of bad…” is one way to describe Pinkish Black‘s star-crossed career thus far. Their first incarnation arose in Fort Worth, TX, when 2005 saw a trio of like-minded souls connect under the banner of The Great Tyrant and set about hewing a new definition for the word “heavy.” Following the tragic passing of original bass player Tommy Atkins, the remaining duo forged ahead, morphing into an even darker macabre entity. Now comprised of drummer Jon Teague and Daron Beck on vocals and synthesizer, the band go under the new moniker Pinkish Black.

“Jon and I have been playing music for over 2 decades,” Beck comments. “The whole process of getting to this point in our lives and our music has been very much a repeating cycle of building to inevitably tear down to build again to tear down and so on… it’s how all life is. Building, destroying, building, destroying…”

‘Razed to the Ground’ was recorded and mixed by the band and Matt Bernhart at The Echo Lab, and was mastered to ominous perfection by James Plotkin. The songs themselves pierce the same vein as the band’s earlier material; death rock, post-punk, doom, and electronic elements slither over and under one another.

“thick, powerful thuds, with rubber band-like distorted bass from a keyboard growling between dynamic drums, teasing synthesizer lines, and vocals that push between operatic majesty and guttural infamy.”

Be forewarned: ‘Razed to the Ground’ will see a September 17 release date from Century Media Records.  Check out the album cover and track listing:

Released in January 2012 via Century Media Records, the album debuted at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, sold nearly 20,000 units in its first week, and spawned the crushing first single, “Trip The Darkness.”

PINKISH BLACK has finished recording their upcoming album and Century Media debut, set tentatively for a spring release. Featuring no stringed instruments, the duo relies on aura and raw emotions to obtain their unique heaviness.

Hailing from the small town of Plaistow, New Hampshire, VATTNET VISKAR is anything but small. Formed in the fall of 2010, the band has quickly risen amongst the ranks of US black metal acts with their self-titled EP, which was named one of the best metal albums of 2012 by,, and countless others.

PINKISH BLACK Upcoming Full-Length Album

Fort Worth-based duo, PINKISH BLACK, has finished recording their upcoming album and Century Media debut, set tentatively for a spring release. Self-produced by PINKISH BLACK’s own Jon Teague and Daron Beck, this currently untitled full-length was recorded at The Echo Lab with Matt Barnhart handling engineer duties. Mastering will be done by James Plotkin.

To hear some new tracks from the record, fans can catch PINKISH BLACK live on March 7th in Denton, TX at NX35 where the duo will be direct support for EYEHATEGOD. Additional tour dates will also be announced soon, so stay tuned!

PINKISH BLACK is the continuation of THE GREAT TYRANT, a three-piece that released one LP following the passing of their bass player, Tommy Atkins. When Atkins died, Teague and Beck decided to change the band’s name and remain a two-piece, yet still retain TGT’s ground-breaking sound. With no stringed instruments, the duo now relies on aura and raw emotions to obtain their unique heaviness. Their resulting effort, PINKISH BLACK’s self-titled debut (Handmade Birds Records), features seven tracks of dark, haunting deathrock–and was named one of the best albums of 2012 by Brooklyn,,, and countless others.

Century Media Records signs PINKISH BLACK

Fort Worth based duo, PINKISH BLACK, announces their signing to Century Media Records. PINKISH BLACK is the duo Jon Teague on drums and vocalist/synthesizer, Daron Beck. They are the continuation of THE GREAT TYRANT, a three piece that released one LP posthumously following the passing of their bass player, Tommy Atkins. THE GREAT TYRANT was on its way to redefining what heavy music was. When Atkins died, the only changes were the name and how to achieve this as a two piece, the latter being no small feat.

PINKISH BLACK’s last, self-titled album, released on Handmade Birds, featured seven tracks of dark, intense and at times, haunting songs. As one of the heaviest bands of late to feature no stringed instruments, PINKISH BLACK uses aura and emotions to attain what other bands (and a lot of Orange Amps and down-tuned guitars) fail to do.

The band is currently touring and working on a new record, expected to be recorded by the end of the year.

“We’re excited at the possibilities that working with Century Media presents to us, and that lots of touring and recording will follow.” – Jon Teague and Daron Beck
