Mark Lanegan Band Announce “Still Life With Roses” Remix EP Out September 29th on Heavenly Recordings

Mark Lanegan Band Announce Still Life With Roses Remix EP, Out September 29th Via Heavenly Recordings
On US Tour in August
US Tour Dates
Following career-best reviews for his tenth album Gargoyle, and a sold–out UK tour in late June, MARK LANEGAN BAND today announce the release of Still Life With Roses, a 6 track EP of remixes from the LP by various producers whose work he admires. The EP, released 29th September via Heavenly Recordings, will be available as 12” vinyl and download and comprises a brilliant array of remixes by the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Adrian Sherwood and Pye Corner Audio. The Adrian Sherwood remix of Nocturne is available an instant grat and streaming HERE, the track listing is further down the announcement:

Press acclaim for Gargoyle:

“Mark Lanegan makes blues for our time, chopping up sonic tropes, stretching them over handcarved laments, wrenching them from his throat and bleeding badly all over them.” -PASTE

“It features, as always, Lanegan’s smoky, whiskey-soaked baritone singing voice (if you’re unfamiliar, imagining a more soulful Leonard Cohen puts you in the ballpark), and it continues his ongoing explorations of synth music” -Dangerous Minds

“[It] is stunning not only for the music’s scintillating sheen, but also for Lanegan’s excellent performance. His gruff baritone has always been reminiscent of Leonard Cohen, but here he recalls the late great’s iridescent lyrics with a moribund romanticism.” – Stereogum

“The one constant has been Lanegan’s moody, melancholic soul-shaker of a voice.” –The A.V. Club

“Gargoyle is as confident and assured as anything Lanegan has released. It stands up alongside his best work and pushes his method in a few new directions, without trying to break from the paradigm” -Pop Matters

“Gargoyle has an early 80s UK electronic rock feel, with Lanegan’s rough vocal rasp sawing through musical timbres reminiscent of what was being played out at Manchester’s Factory.” – The WIRE

Still Life With Roses tracklist:
1. Nocturne (Adrian Sherwood remix)
2. Blue Blue Sea (Not Waving Remix)
3. Old Swan (Pye Corner Audio remix)
4. Beehive (Andrew Weatherall remix)
5. Beehive (Andrew Weatherall dub)

6. Death’s Head Tattoo (Falling Percussion Dub)

LA-based band LANY has launched the Kinda Tour, coming to Pittsburgh on Friday, October 21stat Mr. Smalls!

LANY will be on tour to support their latest EP kinda and just completed a number of summer festivals such asBonaroo, Firefly, Hangout, Outside Lands and more. As the most streamed artist through Spotify‘s Discover Weekly feature, their songs have garnered over 22 million streams on Spotify alone. Billboard also recently announced that LANY is the number one emerging artist after the release of the music video for their single “yea, babe, no way.”

Sounds Like: Electronic pop mixing Eighties flash, blue-eyed soul, and the ongoing search for genuine

connection on a smart phone

For Fans of: Phoenix, fun., Glass Animals

Rolling Stone

“Finding the balance between sensuality and mystery in music is a very delicate process.  Some seem born with the right skill set, like the almighty Prince, effortlessly blending their melodies with the right amounts of desperation and longing. Now, [LANY] are tapping into that same rare talent…” –  Consequence of Sound

“…contains the type of moving intimacy that has attracted the attention of pop, R&B and electronica fans over the past few months.” – Billboard

“LANY are the alternative synth threesome out to take over not just the East and West coasts of America but the entire world…” – Wonderland

Leading the charge is alternative group LANY, whose single “ILYSB” is the most-streamed of all the songs that have ever been featured on Discover Weekly. The band is also the most-streamed act ever from the feature, so it’s clear that when the world grows to know LANY and they begin selling out arenas, they will have to thank Spotify for at least some of that success. – FORBES

LANY recently concluded their first headline tour which SOLD OUT well before the band played the first show, with the demand to accommodate fans resulting in extra dates being added and rooms extended.  With performances at Bonnaroo, Sasquatch and Firefly, as well as 14-dates opening for Oh Wonder already under their belt this summer, the trio will also be performing at Outside Lands and Life is Beautiful later this year. PRESS HERE for more information.

LANY (comprised of Paul Klein, Les Priest and Jake Goss) happened organically.  It began when the former school friends collaborated on songs that Klein had written and within days they had created a clutch of anthems that were too good to ignore.  Even at this early stage, their songs have connected on a large scale: the blissful dream-pop of “ILYSB” made big waves when they put it online and has over 15 million Spotify plays so far.  Their single “Where The Hell Are My Friends” is already nudging 4 million plays in a matter of weeks.  LANY create music that makes the intimate feel universal and connects them indelibly with their growing fanbase.

EYEHATEGOD To Kick Off US Tour With Discharge And Toxic Holocaust

Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe will be filling in for EYEHATEGOD vocalist Mike IX Williams on their upcoming Fall tour with Discharge and Toxic Holocaust.
Elaborates Williams of the decision, “Once again, rather than cancel an amazing tour, we have chosen for EYEHATEGOD to continue on and give one-thousand-percent. This 2016 Discharge tour is super important to me as that band has been a huge influence on my life, but my health situation right now dictates that I am not able to take the stage and perform to the best of my abilities every single night. This is where our good friend Randy Blythe from Lamb Of God comes into the picture. We’ve known Randall since the early ‘90s when EYEHATEGOD would pass through Virginia and he’d offer for us to crash at his crib after our gigs. Great times and we became great friends. To have Mr. Blythe on board as a fill in for me on vocals for this run is a true ‘circle-stays-unbroken’ turn of events! Coming off the heels of Philip Anselmo doing vocals for EYEHATEGOD on two high profile shows [last month’s performances at Southport Music Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana and the 2016 edition of Gwar BQ in Richmond, Virginia respectively], both of these men are at the top of their game. I am getting the medical help I need and will return to the band as soon as possible. Thank you, everybody… ”
Adds Blythe, “Anyone who knows me well knows that I am a massiveEYEHATEGOD fan. I’ve seen them play more times than I can remember, my old side project covered ‘Dixie Whiskey’ for anEYEHATEGOD tribute album, I wear their merch, I even have a freakingEYEHATEGOD tattoo that I got in New Orleans. They are one of my favorite bands of all time, period. I’ve also been friends with the guys in the band since the ‘90s… actually, I knew them before I knew the dudes in my own band, and EYEHATEGOD would often crash at my crib when they came through Richmond. So it’s a bit difficult for me to say, ‘I’m super-happy that I’ve been asked to fill in for Mike IX Williams on this upcoming tour with Discharge and Toxic Holocaust.’ In fact, I can’t honestly say that at all because, once again as a fan and, more importantly, a friend, no one would rather see Mike do this tour more than myself. Mike IX is THE voice of EYEHATEGOD, and I respect him as a friend, musician, and writer way too much to ever think otherwise. What Ican say is that I am beyond honored to be serving a brief tour of duty on vocals with EYEHATEGOD for this upcoming run.
When I was asked to fill in for Mike IX due to his health issues, I immediately said, ‘I’ll do it, as long as all of the guys in the band are cool with it, especially Mike; it can’t be any other way.’ I know from talking to him that Mike is very, very bummed to not be on this tour, especially given the fact that the legendary Discharge is one of his all-time favorite bands. In light of that fact alone, it’s a huge testament to the man’s character that he’s being gracious enough to let the band continue to work while he concentrates on his medical issues, which are entirely legitimate and prevent him from taking the stage night after night. The other guys need to keep the band alive while IX gets better. As anyone who has ever seen the band can attest, the stage of an EYEHATEGODshow isn’t exactly the ideal place to rest and recuperate from an illness, and that is the most important thing here: that Mike IX gets better. In order to both give him the time to take care of his health while simultaneously keeping EYEHATEGOD an active working unit, I’ll be proud to do my bit on this tour and take the stage with what is undeniably one of the heaviest bands on earth. It will be a savage experience; I can promise you that. Let the down-to-earth-motherfuckin’-post-amplification-blues begin! Hail Mike IX.”
EYEHATEGOD’s journey with Discharge and Toxic Holocaust will commence on October 6th and run through October 15th trampling ten cities in seven states, the tour concluding with a one-off show in Chicago with Negative Approach and Svlphvrvs. See all confirmed dates below.

_untitled__1EYEHATEGOD reemerged stronger and more determined than ever before with their self-titled LP, which dropped in 2014 via Housecore Records. Reaping critical acclaim globally, the record marks the band’s most successful release in their twenty-five-plus-year lineage. Having helped define the NOLA sound with their signature down-tuned, blues-inflected guitars awash in furious distortion, underpinning the tormented screams of Mike IX Williams over a thundering rhythm section,EyeHateGod personifies desperation and addiction in the various backwaters of forgotten America, punctuated by the “N’awlins” sound of rebellion and pollution resulting in triumph over adversity.

Beach Slang Performing in Pittsburgh Oct 22 @Cattivo

Philadelphia‘s Beach Slang just celebrated the release of their new album A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelingsout now. Last year, the band released their debut album The Things We Do To Find People Like Us. Beach Slang is performing in Pittsburgh on Oct 22 @ Cattivo.

The band has shared the video for their single “Atom Bomb.” Noisey premiered the bombastic track, calling it “the fastest rager from A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings.”
Beach Slang’s second full-length is a crash-and-thunder collection of songs about what it takes to keep yourself going, to make it through the rest of the night-hell, through the rest of your youth-and beyond.  Frontman James Alex wrote much of A Loud Bash Of Teenage Feelings on their first album’s support tour, during which he spent a lot of time with the kids who’d picked up the record.
The band previously shared the song “Punks in Disco Bar”. The video was described byNPR as “…a glimpse into what it’s like to be young, misunderstood and out of place, yet finding belonging in each other. It’s the perfect complement to “Punks In A Disco Bar” and an ode to the motifs and life-affirming mission of Beach Slang.” Watch it HERE.

Nice things said about “Punks in a Disco Bar”;
“The song will certainly be instantly recognizable to fans of the band’s previous work, with the same never-caring, heart-punching, loud-things-loving lyrics and thick Minneapolis-style riffing of Beach Slang’s debut LP – if a touch wearier than last time out.” – Spin
“the heart-on-the-sleeve punks have already become the kind of band that fans rush to get tattooed all over their bodies. Well, those fans had better make room for some new ink…”
“We need endorphin-heavy, heart-on-sleeve, major-chord, grin-inducing punk rock right now. I mean we need it. There’s a goddamn duty of care: punk has to hold people to account and spit against authority, but sometimes you need to smile like an idiot and let go.” – Noisey
“This new track seeps with feelings of youth and their accompanying frustration. Very punk guitar drowns the entire two minutes and 41 seconds, and the vocals don’t hold anything back. It’s just what you’d expect from a song called “Punks In A Disco Bar,” and that’s not a bad thing.” WXPN

Allegaeon will release their new album, Proponent For Sentience, this Friday, September 23rd.Produced by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation), Proponent For Sentience is a musically complex, intelligent, and absorbing concept record that can rightfully sit alongside the true greats of the medium. With a lyrical arc rooted in science-fiction yet uncomfortably encroaching upon the reality of the present, it captures the Fort Collins, Colorado natives at their most ambitious and accomplished, pushing the boundaries even further than on their three previous critically acclaimed full-lengths. To preview and purchase Proponent For Sentience, visit: metalblade.com/allegaeon.

If flaccid, identikit, breakdown-laden “metal” is the disease, Necromancing The Stone’s recently released debut full-length, Jewel Of The Vile, is the cure. Featuring current/former members of Arsis(guitarist James Malone), The Absence (drummer Jeramie Kling), The Black Dahlia Murder (bassist Ryan “Bart” Williams), and Brimstone Coven (guitarist Justin Wood and vocalist “Big” John Williams),Necromancing The Stone “has brought back the glory days [of ’80s heavy metal] with unbridled spirit”(Loudwire.com). Jim James, frontman of My Morning Jacket, announces the release of Eternally Even, out November 4 via ATO/Capitol Records.

Defying categorization, James’ second solo project, Eternally Even, co-produced by Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes) and Jim James, is a heart-thumping call to action. The timing of its release, smack in the middle of election season, is no accident.

“I wanted to make an album that hopefully speaks to the issues of the day, many of which, sadly, are issues we have been dealing with since the beginning of time.” says James. “Most of what I think about right now is how so many things in the world are SO fucked up- our political system is broken and corrupt…our earth is being destroyed by climate change…people are not treating each other with equality and respect… and I think- are we going to make it?  Are we going to figure it out and fix it before it’s too late? Can we ever truly open our hearts and embrace love in all its beautiful forms? I think it’s still possible. I still have hope in humanity. I’m just trying to be a part of the discussion and encourage people to speak out for equality, to not be afraid to speak out for peace and love. All of us feel afraid at times in these absolutely insane times, but its important we speak our minds, cast our votes, and do not give in to fear and hatred.”

In early 2013, his first solo full length Regions of Light and Sound of God was released and met with widespread critical acclaim. Praised as “truly breathtaking” by Time Out and “magnificent” by Rolling Stone, the album was followed with a sold-out national headlining tour and appearances on Late Night with Jimmy FallonJimmy Kimmel LiveLate Show with David Letterman and Austin City Limits.

Jim James will be embarking a solo tour this winter. Dates listed below—tickets go on sale this Friday, September 23. Jim James fan club members get first access to tickets tomorrowSeptember 20th. Get more information on the pre-sale and join the fan club here.

Grouplove first came together in 2009 and were quickly hailed for their standout live performances, both as headliners and at such international festivals as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Reading + Leeds Festivals, and Glastonbury.  A year after releasing a self-titled EP in 2010, the band returned with their debut full length “NEVER TRUST A HAPPY SONG” featuring a trio of breakout singles – “Colours,” “Itchin’ On A Photograph,” and the RIAA-certified platinum hit “Tongue Tied” which spent 3 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Alternative radio chart. The quintet’s second full length album – 2013’s “SPREADING RUMOURS” – was met with a raft of acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, Los Angeles Times, NYLON, and National Public Radio who called it “ludicrously easy to love.”  As with all of Grouplove’s recorded material, the collection was produced by the band’s own Ryan Rabin, and was highlighted by singles “Ways To Go” and “Shark Attack.”  In 2014, Grouplove contributed the original song “Let Me In” to  “The Fault in Our Stars – Music From the Motion Picture,” the musical companion to the blockbuster film based on The New York Times bestseller. That same year, the band was tapped to create the theme song to the Netflix Original Series “BoJack Horseman.” Last year, vocalist/keyboardist Hannah Hooper collaborated with Volcom for a Lady Grouplove capsule collection of clothing inspired by her personal style and artwork.
Grouplove is: Christian Zucconi (vocals, guitar), Hannah Hooper (vocals, keys), Andrew Wessen (guitar, vocals), Ryan Rabin (drums), and Daniel Gleason (bass).

BIO

After having released their critically acclaimed debut Native Speaker  in 2011, and hot off the heels of their 12″ single In Kind // Amends, BRAIDS have returned with their new LP Flourish // Perish out August 20th on Arbutus Records.

Flourish // Perish showcases the strength of the band as a collective, and explores their burgeoning love for electronic music.  Here, the band brings their widely disparate strengths together to create a distinctive voice; the organic and complex rhythms dance and spar with sparsely decorative sounds, often fragmented and tampered. Interwoven amongst these threads is the layered voice of Standell-Preston, her engaging lyrics and human performance drawing the listener close.

After 18 months of touring in support of Native Speaker, along with the departure of a band member, the group secluded themselves in their Montreal studio for a year of writing and recording.  While Native Speaker was written in an organic and live environment, the group sought to explore a more introspective and electronic approach to songwriting.  Sonically, the songs from these sessions are delicate and tight, yet thoughtfully open up to the rich lushness reminiscent of their older material. Lyrically they are honest and vulnerable, demonstrating the group’s emotional growth and maturity since their last record.

With Flourish // Perish, BRAIDS marks an exciting new partnership with Montreal-based label Arbutus Records.

COFFINS: Tokyo Doom Destroyers Announce US Tour Including Return To Maryland Deathfest

Following their most widely-received LP to date with the 2013-released, The Fleshland, Tokyo, Japan’s COFFINS have confirmed a new American invasion this Spring.

COFFINS will bring their diseased, suffocating death-doom decimation back to this side of the Pacific once again in May with a special mini-tour, marking a four-year gap since their previous stateside visit. Bringing forth bulldozing hymns from The Fleshland in addition to their brutal back-catalog of mid-paced gravedigging metal, in addition to their recently revamped lineup, beginning May 18th, COFFINSwill plunder Chicago, Cleveland, Brooklyn and Philadelphia before closing down the run with their return to Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore on May 22nd, their first time storming MDF since their set at the 2010 edition of the event. COFFINS will be provided with support from Chicago death’n’rollers, Bones, on the tour dates leading up to Deathfest.

COFFINS 2014 U.S. Tour Dates:

5/18/2014 Reggie’s – Chicago, IL w/ Bones

5/19/2014 Now That’s Class – Cleveland, OH w/ Bones

5/20/2014 Saint Vitus Bar – Brooklyn, NY w/ Bones

5/21/2014 Kung Fu Knife Shop – Philadelphia, PA w/ Bones

5/22/2014 Maryland Deathfest – Baltimore, MD

Their first LP for Relapse Records, The Fleshland shows COFFINS smashing down everything in their path with nine new grisly tracks, laying down over forty-five minutes of low-end, sludge-infiltrated, plodding, doom, captured with some of the best production values in the band’s meaty catalog of carnage, recorded at Tokyo’s Noise Room Studio with engineer Shigenori Kobayashi, and produced by Bungo Uchino and the rest of COFFINSThe Fleshland is available on CD, download and 2xLP. Stream the entire album and order all versions HERE.

“Tokyo’s Coffins have been at it steadily for nearly two decades, never bringing the tempos above a deathly lurch and unironically keeping it sick/staying brutal.” – Decibel

“…Japanese death metal yakuza Coffins have carved out a long and fruitful career by out-Autopsying Autopsy.” – Pitchfork

“The nine tracks on The Fleshland have a knack of crawling their collective carcass toward listeners to smear faces with their pus, making the whole thing quite fascinating…” – Terrorizer

“…their absolutely-no-frills approach is essential to what’s best about them: most Coffins songs are among the finest death/doom you’ll ever hear with nary more than the basics of the genre necessary.” – MetalSucks

Nothing Sign To Relapse, Premiere New Single

STREAM: “Dig” – https://soundcloud.com/relapserecords/dig-revised-7-25-13

Philadelphia-based Nothing are proud to announce their signing to Relapse Records via whom the band will release their debut LP, Guilty Of Everything, in 2014. To celebrate the signing and their current tour with Whirr, Nothing is pleased to share the single “Dig”. Please scroll down to view their upcoming tour dates. Speaking on their signing to Relapse Records, the band says “We are very excited to work with Relapse, will be rad to see our music reach a much wider audience.”

Nothing was formed in 2011 by Domenic Palermo. Previously Palermo was the brains behind the early 2000’s hardcore/punk act Horror Show. in 2002 Horror Show was put on hold after Palermo was incarcerated for a stabbing that eventually led to a 2 year prison sentence. Upon his return Palermo would take a lengthy hiatus from music. In 2011 Palermo released a demo tape titled “Poshlost” under the moniker Nothing.

After several attempts at constructing a solid lineup for the band Palermo met Brandon Setta. Setta would bring a lush, rich soundscape and a fresh approach to Palermo’s vision for Nothing. Setta and Palermo would handle the writing for the next release, a very rare 12″ EP that was released on Japanese boutique label Big Love Records called Suns And Lovers(A play off of the D.H. Lawernce book). It was limited to 300 copies and the bands share was donated back to the label for a Tsunami Relief Charity. The next release, Downward Years To Come was a 5 song EP and was recorded at the Rubber Tracks Studio in Brooklyn with Kyle “Slick” Johnson. The record was released by Baltimore Label A389 Records in November 2012. Written by Palermo and Setta, the concept behind Downward Years To Come was a dedication to several different poets who had taken their own lives. Head to Nothing’s bandcamp page here to stream or purchase Downward Years To Come and Suns And Lovers. Setta and Palermo would again head into the studio, this time with Jeff Zeigler at Uniform Recordings to write their debut LP, Guilty Of Everything and sign with Relapse Records.

LUCAS SILVEIRA OF THE CLIKS FINDS HIS TRUE VOICE

By David Hawe LR

After a five-year hiatus during which Lucas Silveira finally found his true voice (literally and figuratively speaking) – successfully going through a female to male transition process – he is now returning to the music scene with the highly-anticipated brand new Cliks album entitled “Black Tie Elevator” due out April 23.

BLACK TIE ELEVATOR, scheduled for release April 23, 2013, was produced by Toronto based musician/singer/songwriter Hill Kourkoutis (Hill & The Sky Heroes, The Weeknd) and finds Lucas’ songwriting style growing and changing towards a more soul/blues/rock styling.
Fans will discover Lucas’ new sound and voice as he kicks off his US tour starting in May (See tour schedule below).

Silveira’s band The Cliks, which formed in 2004, gained widespread acclaim after being featured on the soundtrack of the Showtime series “The L Word.”

A stint performing alongside artists like Debbie Harry, Rufus Wainwright and Erasure on Cyndi Lauper’s 2007 “True Colors” tour brought additional attention to Silveira and his bandmates.

Noting that his work has been most embraced by audiences and fellow artists in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, Silveira says that while he appreciates the fact that more attention is paid to his music because he is transgender, he nonetheless “writes from a place of humanity and human experience, not gender identity,” and cites Lenny Kravitz and Curtis Mayfield as influences.

The Cliks’ first two major label releases, Snakehouse (2006- Warner Music Canada/Tommy Boy) & Dirty King (2009-Warner Music Canada/Tommy Boy) brought the band international recognition.

In 2007, the Toronto Star deemed a transgender “pop heartthrob,” a title he cemented in 2010 when he was voted the “Sexiest Canadian Man” in a Chart Attack end-of-year survey.

After half a decade of living as a man but appearing to most as a woman, he began the formal process of testosterone hormone therapy. The result was a voice that was changed, deeper and huskier, but somehow more soulful. In 2010, his rebirth landed him in Brooklyn, NY, a home away from home to concentrate on songwriting.

He recorded a solo album “Mockingbird” and wrote new songs for The Cliks next music venture, the blues and Motown-inspired “Black Tie Elevator“.

The music video for the debut single titled “Savanna” is now on YouTube.  Filmed in Toronto by a great group of young people called The Young Astronauts, at the helm was director Nev Todorovic and producer Allyson Pankiw.

THE ROLLING STONES ARE BACK! “50 AND COUNTING”

image001

Tickets On-Sale Beginning April 8

The Rolling Stones, who rocked London and New York in 2012, announced today that they will kick off their “50 AND COUNTING” tour in Los Angeles at the STAPLES Center.  (Date TBA pending NBA/NHL playoff schedules.) The tour debut will be followed by performances in Oakland, San Jose, Las Vegas, Anaheim, Toronto, Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia.

“50 AND COUNTING” continues the exhilarating celebration of the band’s first 50 years—five decades of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood bringing their iconic music and ground-breaking stage shows to audiences around the globe.

The Rolling Stones were recently crowned the ‘Best Live Band’ at the NME Awards in London, and over the past 12 months have thrilled fans with their release of a greatest hits collection, “GRRR!,” a groundbreaking documentary film “Crossfire Hurricane,” a photographic book “Rolling Stones: 50,” and have taken the stage by storm for their first live shows in many years. The tour is the band’s highly anticipated return to the stage.

“’50 AND COUNTING’ has been pretty amazing so far,” said Jagger. “We did a few shows in London and New York last year…and had such a good time that we thought…let’s do some more.  It’s a good show.  Lots of the classic stuff everyone wants to hear…with a few little gems tucked in here and there.  The stage is shaped like lips and goes off into the venue so I get to run around in the crowd.  It’s great fun to be able to get that close to the audience.”

“From day one at rehearsals it sounded so fresh.  You could tell that everybody was dying to get their teeth into it.  It was like…open the gates…let us out!” said Richards. “Cause man, it is the life and blood of us to play in front of people.”

Tickets for Oakland, San Jose, Toronto and Chicago go on sale beginning Monday, April 8 at 10AM local time and will be available at www.rollingstones.com.

Citi® cardmembers will have access to presale tickets beginning April 5 at 10AM local time through Citi’s Private Pass® Program. For complete presale details visit www.citiprivatepass.com.

“Our mission is to offer Citi cardmembers more access to the music and entertainment they love, and the Rolling Stones have been a soundtrack for the life experiences of so many,” said Jennifer Breithaupt, SVP of Entertainment Marketing at Citi. “We are thrilled to be providing exclusive presales and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for Citi cardmembers to see one of the most iconic bands in history perform live.”

Mick Taylor, who was a member of the Rolling Stones from 1969-74, will be a special guest throughout the tour.

The band will treat their generations of fans to an evening of classic Stones hits like “Gimme Shelter,” “Paint It Black,” “Jumping Jack Flash,” “Tumbling Dice,” and “It’s Only Rock and Roll,” curated with lesser known gems, and a cover or two.

The stage design for the tour is based on the band’s ubiquitous tongue and lips logo, which extends out into the crowd, allowing the Stones to interact directly with their audience.  Known for their ground-breaking sets and use of cutting-edge technology, the Stones’ set design will feature video screens and special effects that will enhance the high-octane experience of attending a live Stones’ show.

The band will also play London’s Hyde Park on Saturday, July 6 following a headlining appearance at UK’s Glastonbury Festival on June 29.

The Rolling Stones “50 AND COUNTING” tour will be the band’s first venture with worldwide tour promoter AEG Live’s Concerts West.

Khalid Quesada Now Ranked #3 via Reverbnation Charts – Philly

As a precocious child, raised on the pop antics of The Monkees and Kiss, Khalid Quesada decided at an early age that the one thing he wanted to do was make music. He started writing songs before he could even competently play an instrument, but eventually taught himself to play guitar a few months before his 14th birthday. Trading in a naïve love of Def Leppard and Michael Jackson for something with a little more substance and purity as rock bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam guided him into adolescence, he fell in love with the electric guitar and, by association, the distortion pedal. The friendships, most lasting into adulthood, formed at this time were partly based on a love of rock music, and ultimately helped shape the songwriter he soon became. Through high school, while alternately shifting between electric and acoustic guitar, he also began a love/hate relationship with poetry as a means of dealing with the boredoms of class and the trappings of cliques. Teenage life was just as wonderful and terrible as anyone else claims it was, but he used his way with words to put more into his lyrics than most of what he was hearing from his contemporaries. While he later admits that the majority of songs he was writing weren’t very good, he was determined to write the best songs he could without compromise. A strong focus on melody, his love of power pop titans like Weezer and the Pixies weighed heavily on how he crafted songs as he was exiting his teenage semi-rebellion years. Around the same time, he also fell in love with the work of Elliott Smith, especially in the obvious nods to The Beatles, and appreciated the simplicity of sometimes just crafting songs around an acoustic guitar, while not always being bound to it. While most of the songs written in his early years as a songwriter were designed to accommodate and even please other band members, his decision to write and perform largely as a solo artist opened doors into the craft he hadn’t considered. When he was only writing for himself, it was easier to be honest with himself about what he was trying to say and where it truly was the sound his heart was leading him to. Naturally, most songwriters share their emotions through their songs, but his work has leaned more towards presenting sometimes haunting, often beautiful melodies through a genuine talent for poetry and unabashed pop hooks. In recent years, he took a break from performing live to focus on composing an album of material from scratch, even with a catalogue of 200 plus songs at his disposal. While aiming to write 12-14, he ultimately ended up with 19. Two of the song from the album, which he is currently working on, Radio Silence and We Love In Stereo, were also lifted for an EP with 4 additional songs shifted from the album proper. The EP, entitled On The Verge Of Context, was self-released in physical form last year and recently had a digital release as well on iTunes, Amazon and Napster, among other digital music retailers. While not working on the album, The Beauty In Chaos, set to be released this fall, he has been performing live almost endlessly, mainly in Philadelphia, at venues such as World Café Live, Lickety Split, Connie’s Ric Rac, The M Room, Murph’s Bar, Triumph Brewery, among others. He will also be performing in Atlantic City this summer for the third annual Elephant Talk Indie Music Fest, his third time appearing.

Neo-pop act Khalid Quesada is now one of the most popular acts in Philly, according to Reverbnation!

Now ranked at #3, Khalid is posed to be one of the most popular indie acts in Philly…

NIHILISTINEN BARBAARISUUS sign to Horror Pain Gore Death Productions

Horror Pain Gore Death Productions has signed Finnish/Philadelphia Black Metal trio Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus and will release their debut album on February 19th 2013. Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus have released a two song promo to introduce people to the band, below is a description:

Forged out of the icy wilderness of the north, this Philadelphia trio composes several tracks of cold subsonics and frigid atmospheres. Inspired by Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus’s founder Mika Mages Finnish heritage, the two tracks presented here showcase the bands ambient black metal techniques with the track Ylitten Jtyneen Pohjoisen (I) and a more delicate side with the track Ketamiini. Cold, grim and strangely uplifting a must have for fans of Gris, Paysage DHiver, Burzum, Velvet Cacoon, Trist, and Neige Et Noirceur. A frozen, ambient masterpiece…

Legendary NYHC Band THE MOB Announces December Shows

Sometime during 1980 searching for a harder/faster outlet than the current NYC punk rock trend, three teenagers from Jackson Heights, Queens: Jack Flanagan, Jose Gonzalez and Ralph Gebbia formulated THE MOB. Once the concept was established they added high-school bud Jamie Shanahan on drums, to round out the 4 piece assault. The early MOB sound was heavily influenced by what was going on in L.A. and D.C. With NY not having a true representative taking up this new sound and culture THE MOB chose to carry the flag. THE MOB were not alone in this endeavor and these ideas, as others were feeling the same excitement and picked up guitars, mics and sticks in pursuing these same ideas: which turned into the first wave of the NYHC scene.

Fast forward to 2012 and THE MOB is back in business. This year’s Black N’ Blue Bowl marked THE MOB’s return to the stage and to the forefront of the NYHC Scene after a ten year absence. Now THE MOB is pleased to announce that they will be playing two shows this December. The first show is scheduled for December 1st in Philadelphia, PA at Gunners Run with special guests Antidote. The second show is set for December 2nd in New York, NY at The Bowery Electric and serves as the CD release show for Antidote’s new album where THE MOB will provide direct support. More information on the show can be found HERE.

Frontman Ralph Gebbia commented on the upcoming gigs and THE MOB’s latest single:

“Me and the guys are very excited to get out there and Mosh it up again in two of my favorite cities, my home town NYC and my adopted home base, Philadelphia! We are also very happy with the success and reaction of the new single “Back to Queens”.

Guitarist Jack Flanagan added:

“THE MOB has always been about playing live shows. Back in the 80’s that was all we really cared about, doing records was secondary…the two shows in December were set up pretty much the same way we did it back in the day, the only difference is, that in Philly we won’t have to worry about a guest list…not that we every did anyway.”

Earlier this year, THE MOB released “Back to Queens” which was made available in true “MobStyle” as a 7″ vinyl including the track “That’s It”. This release is limited to 1000 individually hand numbered copies which were signed by all four members of the band and then shrink-wrapped making this a true collector’s item. There are only 100 copies remaining and they are available via THE MOB’s Indie Merch Store HERE.

There is also a digital version of the single available on iTunes and Amazon which includes a bonus offering of “Zoo Crew”. “Zoo Crew” was one of the first songs ever written by THE MOB back in 1980, but never released until now. THE MOB’s entire back catalog is also available on iTunes.

“Back To Queens” is the first in a series of four 7″ singles that will be released by THE MOB on Weathermaker Music. The artwork for the singles was created by famed New York tattoo artist Mr. Den. While each single has its own distinct artwork, once all four are released each piece takes on a new meaning as one part of a complete piece of art.

THE MOB’s video for “Back To Queens” was directed by Drew Stone, who is known for his work documenting the Boston Hardcore Scene, particularly in his film “xxx All Ages xxx”.

THE MOB Live:
12/1: Philadelphia, PA @ Gunners Run
12/2: New York, NY @ The Bowery Electric
