WORLDWIDE PANIC Release Official Music Video for “Party”

 Party Cover Art

LA Based Heavy Metal Band WORLDWIDE PANIC has released the Diego Gonzales directed official music video for their newest single, “Party.”

“In my perspective it was a challenge to us as a band as well as in respect to finding a director. There are no shortages of videographers and directors in Los Angeles County. I know a lot of great ones that are total visionaries and could have easily shot this video and it would have just been another day at the office for them and I didn’t want that. I wanted to find someone who had the same passion for the song that we had. The moment I spoke to and met with Diego and showed him the song and saw his reaction we immediately started storyboarding with each other. It was not an easy task to complete in any regard. We wanted something extremely specific that was based on true life events that occurred in my life. Finding the actors, booking a sound stage, finding a crew, getting props, and be lengthy processes to deal with. A week to the date, Worldwide Panic, myself and Diego spent four hours at a professional soundstage filming the band performance and that weekend we had casted the actors who take this dream and turn it into a nightmare. The scenes portrayed in this video most actually happened to me. It is still difficult for me to watch this and not feel empathy for the actor on screen. I could not believe that those things happened to me in real life and now I am where I am living a happy fulfilling life. I think the rawness captured in this video encapsulates many life lessons I had to learn the hard way. Even with the dark subject matter of the song and video I like that it is done in a fun way and makes something that was very painful entertaining and fun and teaches people to avoid the many pitfalls that exist in society. It is with great pleasure I present, Party!” – Lane Steele (Bass / Vocals)

“On this track we had the pleasure of having my good friend Aaron Nordstrom help produce the vocals. He had this to say, “I’ve known Lane Steele for many years since we were in school together. I’ve seen him evolve and work very hard for awhile and find his voice as a musician. I had the pleasure of working on the song “Party” and enjoyed it very much. It was a smooth workflow and resulted in a great song. Take a listen and be sure to catch them on the road with Flaw this fall.”
– Aaron Nordstrom (Gemini Syndrome)

Superjoint release “Caught Up In The Gears Of Application”

dsc_6635SUPERJOINT was resurrected in 2015 after the original band broke up a decade earlier. At the behest of the late Corey Mitchell, co-founder of The Housecore Horror Film Festival, SUPERJOINT founders Philip H. Anselmo (Down, Pantera, Scour, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Arson Anthem et al), Jimmy Bower (Down, Eyehategod), and Kevin Bond (Christ Inversion, Artimus Pyledriver et al) joined forces with longtime comrades, drummer José “Blue” Gonzalez (Warbeast, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals) and bassist Stephen Taylor (Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Woven Hand, 16 Horse Power). A new era of the band was born.

Consequently, the band members found true joy in playing together again. After just two tours, new material followed culminating in the scathing sounds of Caught Up In The Gears Of Application. “The minute we started writing, I knew this record would be brutal,” reflects Bower. “Sticking to our true hardcore roots and signature SUPERJOINT sound, we accomplished a record that needed to happen in today’s underground. It’s pissed off! After being on hiatus for eleven-plus years, the chance at a new SUPERJOINT record wasn’t something we took lightly. With newcomers Steven and Joey, we were psyched and eager to get in the Lair and start writing and after two tours with the new lineup, we were able to hit the writing hard! Didn’t take long to accomplish, and we stood and smirked at the playback of what would be the new SUPERJOINT record. With songs like ‘Receiving No Answer To The Knock’ and ‘Sociopathic Herd Delusion’ we had everything to smirk about! This record brings our viscous style of hardcore back to life. Pissed off with everything to prove, SUPERJOINT is back!”

Adds Anselmo of the offering, ““The overall theme means many things, or no things, but there is an underlying message regardless, about how modern technology — computers and all that comes with them, mainly — has affected our lives. As a musician, it has affected my life both negatively (music being stolen) and positively (being in touch with fellow musicians around the world and staying visible). But when looking at the broader spectrum, computer-land has given everyday people a platform in which to bellow like carnival barkers about anything and everything, humdrum or political, whether qualified or not, some with good intentions, some with disingenuous intentions, and some with ideas that lay somewhere in the middle, creating a mishmash of results.”

Preorders bundles for SUPERJOINT’s Caught Up In The Gears Of Application are available via Housecore at THIS LOCATION. For digital preorders, point your browser HERE or HERE.

SUPERJOINT will bring their venom to the stage for their official record release show on November 12th, 2016 in Dallas, their only US appearance of the year. Tickets are on sale now!

Dean Zelinsky Guitars New Engraved Paisley Dellatera Guitar With Antiqued Metalized Finish

Chicago, IL August 23, 2016 – World-renowned guitar designer, Dean Zelinsky, announces the release of his Engraved Paisley Dellatera in an Antiqued Nickel finish. Utilizing an exclusive metalizing process, Zelinsky achieves a realistic engraved metal look on a traditional alder wood body. Guitars are only available factory direct through Zelinsky’s ecommerce site, www.deanzelinsky.com.

Marrying the aesthetics of metal with the feel and tonal properties of wood was the maker’s inspiration. “I have been working on perfecting this look for several months,” stated Zelinsky. “Engraved metal guitars currently on the market have a sexy appeal but are extremely expensive. Additionally, they have other less desirable qualities associated with the metal bodies. We have 100% achieved that look ‘in wood’ without the lofty price tag. In a test at a local music store, players looking at my Dellatera side-by-side a metal body guitar were not able to tell the difference.”

The Engraved Paisley Dellatera comes standard with Zelinsky’s patented Z-Glide™ Reduced Friction Neck. Z-Glide™ utilizes a laser-textured design to eliminate that sticky/tacky feel by removing 70% of the neck surface. Z-Glide™ puts a little air between players and their guitar letting hands glide up and down the neck.

Players can custom configure their guitar with the choice of rosewood or maple fingerboards, various hardware packages, pickguards, and pickup options including Zelinsky’s revolutionary SideKick™ Pickup. SideKicks are the first pickups that enable a player to have a true single-coil and vintage humbucker in the same space. Players can switch from single to humbucker and the volumes absolutely match.

Additional features include a rock hard Canadian maple neck, 9.5” – 12” compound radius fingerboard, 20:1 locking tuners, Zelinsky’s Hi-Tail single-coil bridge pickup and Broad-Tone neck single-coil, master volume and tone control with 3-way switch, graphite nut and string retainer. Players can customize and order their Engraved Paisley Dellatera directly from Zelinsky’s website, www.deanzelinsky.com, starting at $1299.

About Dean Zelinsky Guitars:

Dean Zelinsky Guitars is the creation of master guitar builder Dean Zelinsky. Dean Zelinsky Guitars represents the crowning point of Zelinsky’s four decades as a guitar designer to the stars. The Dean Zelinsky Guitar collection includes the Tagliare, Dellatera, StrettaVita, Zenyatta, and LaVoce. Selected models feature new guitar technology options, such as his patented Z-Glide™ (Reduced Friction) Neck and SideKick™ Pickup. Celebrated guitarists such as Johnny Winter, Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Pantera’s Dimebag Darrell, Michael Schenker, Sammy Hagar, Elliot Easton of The Cars, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, Heart’s Nancy Wilson, Leslie West, Kerry Livgren of Kansas, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and scores of others have all played guitars designed and built by Zelinsky. Now, musicians can buy the same quality instrument direct from the man who created such luminary guitars.

Zelinsky launched his new line of Dean Zelinsky Guitars in August of 2013 through his ecommerce website, www.deanzelinsky.com. The company has a USA facility in the Chicago, IL suburbs, offshore manufacturing and worldwide distribution. Dean Zelinsky Guitars range from $369 to $6,000.

Great Southern Trendkillers – Pillbuster Brings The Steady Stream of Groove Metal

From Raleigh, North Carolina, Pillbuster make no hesitation in getting their sound out in the open. There’s no question that this is a heavy, dirty band that clearly has reverence for filthy Southern metal like Pantera and Corrosion of Conformity. The trappings are there and some of the songs are written with incredible gravity and stomp, but this steadiness is what ultimately makes the band’s debut less about virtuosity and more about consistency. Very few surprises come to life on Pillbuster’s debut, and while there is a solid amount to love here, the missed opportunities stick out like sore, mud-doused, callus-covered thumbs.

The band prides themselves on groovy licks right out of Pantera’s Vulgar Display of Power and heavy tempos in Black Sabbath’s Paranoid. Pillbuster vocalist Brett Lloyd grabs the dirty scream-croon of Pantera and Down’s Phil Anselmo without any restraint and in songs like the fantastic “Rhythm of Decline”, it can be pretty difficult distinguishing between the two singers. Few bands have truly captured that growling tone, but Pillbuster do a solid job in throwing the southern metal scene some respect. But the Pantera guitars are noticeably toned down from Pillbuster’s arsenal of metal machinery. Instead of those masterfully intricate Dimebag Darrell solos, Pillbuster’s Joe Festa lets the rhythmic grinds of bands like Deftones pave the way for the band’s sound (“Beast” echoes Deftones’ “Bloody Cape” shockingly well). You do on occasion hear traces of thrash throughout, such as on “Push” and the rockin’ anthem “Resolve”, but Pillbuster are more about the lurching stomp than the nimble dash.

Like any great groove metal band, the pounding rhythm section is key, and bassist Chris Kernstock and drummer Douglas Stanek deliver in spades. Traces of 1991-era Rage Against the Machine pepper the band’s rhythm section, while Lloyd’s guttural call strikes a mean right hook to the face. The pace is so steady and sludgy, however, that Festa’s guitar work still sounds under-implemented. As he shows in songs like “Dying Next to You,” Festa is a virtuoso player who takes many cues from both Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi for heavy pacing and Pantera’s Darrell Abbott for that smooth groovy roughness. That mix is a fantastic shine for a fresh new guitarist, but the songs don’t offer much room for Festa to really step up and show off his clearly intense skills of the shred.

But even though the quaking march has force, it becomes apparent that Pillbuster have a niche that they want to fill and that they refuse to depart from. The song list is only ten tracks long, but very few of the songs stand out. “Sinkhole” is one of the best, with a sound so down-tuned and weighted that even Dirt-era Alice in Chains would step back in respect. But the pacing is done so hard and so much that the album doesn’t have much topography; it’s very one-line and straightforward. Though the band cites a healthy variety of genres as influence, aside from southern metal and hard rock, you don’t see much else. The very small bits of “5th Helena Drive” show this briefly, but there just aren’t many traces of punk or hardcore, mostly because the tempos are so lurching. The speed is sacrificed, which is a shame, because it could’ve also shown off the band’s versatile musicianship. Also, while Lloyd is a fine southern metal belt-out singer, his voice isn’t varied either, making the songs feel even more stirred and unfocused. There are some amazing songs on Pillbuster’s debut, but the hooks aren’t apparent. The lack of variety is what makes Pillbuster’s debut confusing. For a band so rich with influence and reverence for said influences, they don’t make too big a case that they really do want to mix those genres together into something captivating and exciting across all ten tracks.

Pillbuster’s debut will make friends with the southern headbangers who are out for a grunty, grinding good time in the pit, but where Pantera and Clutch struck gold with shockingly intricate compositions for their genres mixed with heavy tones, Pillbuster sound like they’re running in place and holding themselves back. A lack of ambitious experimentation sours what could’ve been one of the finest in its class. Still, for what they do, Pillbuster nail it. Their debut is still a mighty and heavy album, one that takes the best pieces from their metal and hard rock influences and make something worth headbanging to. If you’re still bitter about the lack of a Pantera reunion, listening to Pillbuster is sure to soften that blow, while also opening listeners’ ears to a rising band with potential to rock your local metal festivals. Will they be the next Great Southern Trendkillers? It’s hard to tell now, but if you can ignore the overly straight-ahead approach to metal, Pillbuster still have the chops to melt your face right off.

“Essential.” REVOLVER (4/4 stars review!)

“An indispensable oral history of an often misunderstood musical genre.”

KIRKUS REVIEWS (a starred review!)

“I’m not saying this just because I’m in the book, but . . . if you love metal, great stories, and music history told by the people who made it, then Louder than Hell is a must-read.”

—ALICE COOPER

“…the authors’ inclusiveness give this examination a weight that is just as heavy as the music.”

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

“This is the best oral history I’ve read since Please Kill MeLouder than Hell is the first book that really delivers the brutal truth from the mouths of the artists and key players themselves!

I couldn’t put it down.” —MATT PINFIELD

Compiled from over 400 interviews conducted by respected music journalists Jon Wiederhorn and Katherine Turman, LOUDER THAN HELL: The Definitive Oral History of Metal (It Books; May 14, 2013; Hardcover; $32.50) is a chronological history of heavy metal, told through the words of the men and women who created it, played it, re-invented it, and continue to rock it.

Revolver senior editor Wiederhorn and Nights with Alice Cooper producer Turman dug deep into their extensive list of contacts to uncover never-before-heard stories, eye-opening admissions and the truth behind metal’s most explosive legends. Candid and confessional commentary comes straight from icons of the genre, including: Ronnie James Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, Bruce Dickinson, Eddie Van Halen, Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, Lita Ford, Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Axl Rose, Slash, Corey Taylor, Dave Mustaine, Chuck Schuldiner, Lemmy Kilmister, King Diamond, Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor, Slayer’s Kerry King, Phil Anselmo, Rob Zombie and more. With an introduction by Scott Ian of Anthrax and an afterword by Rob Halford of Judas Priest, and with two 16-page photo inserts, with some never-before seen candid shots by celebrated rock photographers Stephanie Cabral and Robert Matheu, this is the book metal fans have been waiting for.

The many musicians interviewed by these veteran journalists offer their take on their influences, touring, the music business, and songwriting, as well as their often-traumatic upbringings, battles with substance abuse, and bizarre sexual exploits. Industry insiders (including managers, record label executives, family members, friends, scenesters, groupies, journalists, and porn stars) provide additional insight.
From the creation of Black Sabbath in the late 1960s, to Judas Priest’s development of the leather-and-studs look, to Metallica introducing the world to thrash, to the inception of Ozzfest, to Faith No More accidentally creating the first hybrid of rap and metal, to the provocative exploits of the Sunset Strip scene, to the death and destruction surrounding Norwegian black metal, LOUDER THAN HELL gets to the meat of the metal matter:

  • Rob Halford of Judas Priest reveals how he kicked cocaine and alcohol in 1986 after tragically witnessing his boyfriend’s suicide and sought solace in spirituality, which has helped the Metal God stay clean to this day.
  • Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose talks about the early days of Guns N’ Roses, the making of the 36-million-copy-selling debut Appetite for Destruction, and how Robert Willams’ graphic cover art was censored.
  • Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi explains how he lost parts of his fingers while working a day job in a factory – and created homemade prosthetics so he could play guitar, which changed the tonality of the instrument and the sound of heavy metal forever.
  • Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson shares how he dug through his own vomit in search of the balloon of heroin he’d swallowed to avoid being arrested by the police, and then used that heroin to celebrate his victory over not getting busted.
  • Members of Metallica and Anthrax detail the horrifying events of 1986 when Metallica’s tour bus crashed and tipped over, crushing bassist Cliff Burton beneath it while the rest of the members escaped relatively unscathed.
  • Alice Cooper reveals how it was really wheelchair-bound members of his AUDIENCE who tore the live chicken apart during his fateful concert in Toronto, while Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne give first-person accounts of Ozzy biting the head off a dove while wasted during a high-level record company meeting, and decapitating a bat onstage during his Diary of a Madman tour.
  • Hellhammer, drummer of Norway’s pioneering black metal band Mayhem, talks about ex-vocalist Dead committing suicide and how guitarist Euronymous used a chunk of Dead’s brain to make a Mexican stew.
  • Biohazard guitarist Billy Graziadei details how gang bangers stabbed a member of the group’s posse with a hunting knife while shouting, “Payback, Motherfucker!” and how the band vowed to retaliate. Vocalist Evan Seinfeld also recounts his graphic sexual liaisons while on tour, and how they led to his career in porn.
  • Slipknot bassist Paul Gray (who died of an overdose at age 38 during the writing of LOUDER THAN HELL) discusses the evolution of the lineup; physical fights between band members, and his own struggles with addiction.

LOUDER THAN HELL explores the transformation of metal culture, with stories and anecdotes straight from the mouths of the most infamous and successful bands. Filled with hundreds of revealing interviews representing every type and era of heavy metal—from metal progenitors such as Blue Cheer, Led Zeppelin, and the MC5 to current day innovators including Slipknot, Mastodon, and Lamb of God—LOUDER THAN HELL is the ultimate look behind the curtain at one of our most dynamic, controversial and enduring musical genres.

Advance Praise for LOUDER THAN HELL:

Louder Than Hell comes straight from the twisted minds of rock icons and flows seamlessly through various eras of heavy metal. You hear from the guys that were there on the stage, in the pit, puking in the gutter. It brought back memories, and I even learned a few things I never knew. I really dig this book.”  —Riki Rachtman, DJ, VJ

“Books on the history of even something as cool as metal can be a bit antiseptic and boring—not this one. It’s the story straight from the horse’s mouth. Even better is when the horses have experimented with drugs and black out occasionally. . .” —Brendon Small, creator of Dethklok and Metalocalypse

“Who likes rock n roll here?? Well if you do, this is the book for you! Every rock has been overturned, every band has been analyzed, quoted, and lionized and every page offers a new fact or figure that you probably didn’t know. This is the definitive chronicle of all that is heavy metal and I’ve read them all!”  —Chris Jericho, Fozzy

“Katherine Turman and Jon Wiederhorn know metal. Louder than Hell is an amazing gathering of different breeds of heavy metal rockers telling the tales metal fans want to hear.”

—Tom Morello, Rage Against the Machine

“This is the book every metal fan should own. A fascinating high-octane chronicle of metal mayhem that takes readers on a wild ride, from metal’s earliest days to the head-banging present. I’m not saying this just because I’m in the book, but . . . if you love metal, great stories, and music history told by the people who made it, then Louder than Hell is a must-read.”

—Alice Cooper

Louder than Hell is a love letter to the misunderstood genre of heavy metal music, written by trusted companions who had a front row seat on the devil’s rollercoaster. The definitive chronological testimony by the people who were there, including some who are no longer with us.” —Mark McGrath, Sugar Ray and co-host Extra

“An amazingly comprehensive book on all eras and genres of hard rock and heavy metal. The stories and attention to detail make it an instant must for anyone who ever was or is a fan.”

—Eddie Trunk, DJ and host of “That Metal Show” on VH1 Classic

IMMINENT SONIC DESTRUCTION New Video Teaser

Earlier this year IMMINENT SONIC DESTRUCTION released their debut Recurring Themes. The album was produced by Roy Z (Halford, Bruce Dickinson), and features nine original tracks that showcase the band’s vocal harmonies soaring over original progressive-metal riffing, melodic compositions and the rhythms of ex-Tiles drummer, Pat DeLeon. Recurring Themes was financed entirely by the band andis available for purchase via the band’s website, iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, Lasers Edge, Dearborn Music and is now available through Nightmare Records.

ISD recently completed work on a video for the song “Monster”. The video will be receiving its exclusive premiere in the coming weeks via Noisecreep:

IMMINENT SONIC DESTRUCTION is the brainchild of Detroit-based guitarist, vocalist and metal innovator Tony Piccoli. Influenced by the raw power of bands such as Strapping Young Lad, Meshuggah and Pantera , as well as the disciplined complexities of progressive groups like Dream Theater and Genesis, Piccoli set out to change the face of metal. His blend of crushing guitars, ethereal overtones, a combination of vocal styles and wonderful melody are wrapped in subtly complex time signatures, skull-crushing guitar riffs, and melodic hooks so memorable that you will need surgery to get these songs out of your head.

Black Dahlia Murder: A Pittsburgh Pictorial

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The Black Dahlia Murder derived their name from the 1947 unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short, and in Pittsburgh the absolutely killed. With influences ranging from Carcass, At the Gates, Darkane, Dissection, Darkthrone, Morbid Angel, The Haunted, In Flames, Dimension Zero, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Pantera and Megadeth- the band has an interesting mix of very hardcore genres.

Mainly sticking to the genres of melodic death metal, metalcore, and deathcore, when asked to describe what kind of music the band plays, Strnad commented: “I’ve always said that we’re melodic death metal. We are mostly influenced by Swedish bands and Carcass. The heavy end of our sound is the American style creeping in, with some Floridian influences like Morbid Angel, Malevolent Creation and that kind of stuff. We’ve been labeled more often because of our look than our sound, which is dumb, and speaks volumes about what kind of geniuses are out there!”. In an interview with Uranium Magazine, Strnad also stated, “Some bands that get labeled as metalcore are actually good, like Between the Buried and Me or The Red Chord. Metal is what I grew up with, and then I learned about punk and hardcore. But a lot of our ethics, the way we carry ourselves, is more punk…I like that hardcore has a sense of community without the competition you see in metal.”

The only disappointment for many of the Pittsburgh fans was the “early” start of BDM. Most shows at Stage AE start about an hour after doors open, but BDM went on pretty early (6:30) causing many to miss part or all of their set.

The split now has an official release date of January 8, 2012 and will include two songs from each artist. This album serves as the first release of any solo work by PHILIP ANSELMO during the span of his nearly 30-year legacy. Also, the two WARBEAST tracks on the split feature former bassist Alan Bovee before his amicable departure from the band. Since then, Dre Karst has joined on bass.

“This split is a glimpse into the future of both my solo project and ultimate thrash metallers WARBEAST. The title of the split is War of The Gargantuas and it is fitting on many levels because of our combined love for the 60’s Japanese film of the same name, the power of our combined musical output(s) and our humorous affection that plays out within each of our “Gargantuan” personalities,” states PHILIP ANSELMO. “Both WARBEAST and myself have full length LP’s that will be released shortly after this is released, but this split is unique musically. It is a time capsule; a loud pause ‘til we both release our full length products. Enjoy the destruction of music!”

“These two songs we have on War of the Gargantuas were the next level after Krush The Enemy,” states WARBEAST guitarist Scott Shelby. “They’ve been a staple in our set list for the last two years. These songs are a pure demonstration of our unique Texas thrash metal style.”

WARBEAST also recently announced the upcoming release of their second full-length album, Destroy. The album is scheduled to be released in early 2013 via Housecore Records and is currently in the mastering stages. Stay tuned for more information on Destroy coming very soon.

Bison B.C.’s ‘Lovelessness’ Will Put Them On Your Love List

They hit you like a shovel, already caked in mud and blood and piss, slamming your brain. Bottom basement guitars rooted down deep with drum and bass rhythm and riff on top of heavy riff on top of heavier riff. Based in the love of all things metal and good, born out of the Sabbaths, and Panteras, and Soundgardens, and Melvins of the world. They are dirty, fast, drop D, pounding, pulsating, back to basics, metal up your ass, all that is beautiful and disgusting about metal that we love.
‘An Old Friend’ opens up ‘Lovelessness’ and has no reverence to your need for codling. It thrives on your hate and anger and fist pounding frustration. If you are at the edge you have just been given a hearty push as you hear the maniacal laugh in your descent. Bison B.C. creates layers of patterns that have a texture of grime and excrement polished with a bit of smut for good measure. Reminiscent of the works of Mastodon and their kin, Bison B.C. has the potential to reach that bands’ level as their fans will surely tell you, and has their own style to add to the genre of ‘mind metal’.

‘Anxiety Puke/Lovelessness’ is the second track on the effort and has a throb of punk sensibility reminiscent of Black Flag, but then flips itself over and takes root in old metal magic. Gorgeous guitars blend over one another and their notes hang and bump into one another with malice punctuated by agonizing vocals. Lyrically, the thematic of ‘Lovelessness’ are glaringly clear, this is no R.E.M. ‘Happy Shiny People’ unless Slayer covered the tune and changed the lyrics to deal with destruction, death, and desolation. The “psalms of suffering” continue with ‘Last and First Things’. Starting on a slower tone than its predecessors on the disc, it quickly pulls the listener in and puts a choke hold on their eardrums. Their is a dichotomy present here of complex yet simplistic measures that are burrowed in familiarity but have a twisting, festering, invasive new passion that is infectious; it’s as if the body has lost control and must now sway and pound in homage to the music before it.
‘Blood Music’ continues the barrage of the senses and will make any sensible metalhead pray that Bison B.C. hits their town. They have built quite a reputation for their live show, touring with the likes of Baroness, Priestess, and Ghenghis Tron. Hard hiiting and unsympathetic in its brutality, ‘Blood Music’ could be the best description of Bison’s sound yet. Next up is ‘Clozapine Dream’ named after the drug oft prescribed to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia. The drug is typically used as a last resort, thus fitting very neatly into the feel and tone of Bison B.C.’s third release on Metal Blade. The cohesiveness of the music with the lyrical content puts this accomplishment on par with the bands’ cohorts such as Between the Buried and Me, Baroness, Becoming the Archetype, and The Dillinger Escape Plan. To conclude their latest is ‘Finally Asleep’ that trudges in with a military like beat to put to rest any doubts of the true weight of the material, bloody and beaten from the experience, scarred by pure existence, and disturbed beyond repair. It is the perfect cap off to what amounts to an amazing piece of sludge metal that will rot in your brain, devour your veins, and haunt your soul.

BISON B.C. worked with acclaimed producer Sanford Parker at Soma and Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago to record Lovelessness. Parker is best known for his work with bands such as Yob, Pelican, Rwake, Yakuza, Nachtmystium, Zoroaster, Unearthly Trance, and more. Needless to say, Parker is more than qualified to put-to-tape the raw, furious
energy that is BISON b.c.

What others are saying about Bison B.C.:

“thrash, smash and fuck-you-up energy that’ll soil your britches faster than a bottle of Mexican moonshine” Decibel
Magazine
“And worthy of a herd of their namesake, their music is thunderous, bone-shaking and most of all, heavy. Really heavy.
These cats have got their own gravitational pull.” Sacramento Press
“Heavy, man. Real heavy. Jean-jacket heavy.” RollingStone.com

Legacy of Disorder’s ‘Last Man Standing’ is Pure Metal Magic

With a siren’s wail, Legacy of Disorder opens up their latest effort, Last Man Standing. The sheer relentlessness of the first song, Thorns, tells the listener loud and clear what this experience will be about: pure metal onslaught. In the vein of Slayer, Testament, Exodus, and any number of powerful metal outfits, New Zealand now has Legacy of Disorder who are in fact creating their own legacy.

Although most of its members hail from New Zealand, fast-rising metallists Legacy of Disorder’s sound largely resembles the power metal that such renowned US bands like Pantera perfected and popularized. And as you’ll discover with their second release overall, ‘Last Man Standing’, it is only a matter of time until
Legacy of Disorder takes their rightful spot alongside the top modern day metal acts. “We think our style fits in well with today’s metal scene,” explains the group’s lead singer, James Robinson. “We have elements of a wide range of metal – all into one robust unit. Legacy of Disorder shows in a lot of ways the evolution of this genre, but with a unique sound that no one can replicate.”

With tunes such as Punish All, March to Death, Last Man Standing, Impaler, and Warrior Gene, there is no mistaking the subject matter as light listening. That is not say that LoD does not have an excellent sense of melody- but everything has its place. Legacy seem to be very concerned with ‘in your face’ metal at maximum volume. Lyrically there is no pussyfooting either. Brutal, direct, punishing, and violent the imagery created is of your favorite comic book fight scenes come to life before your eyes. Their execution of rythym to anchor their tunes while the guitars wail and crunch works extremely well, especially with some peppered in sound effects or ‘movie-like’ sound bites, thus creating a cinematic experience.

Alongside Robinson, Legacy of Disorder consists of fellow New Zealanders Rana Freilich (lead guitarist) and Jason Keill (bass), as well as Texas native Matt Thompson (drums). And there’s a reason why the lone star state provided the group with Thompson – Legacy of
Disorder has formed a tight bond with Dallas-based producer Sterling Winfield, who has worked in the past with Pantera, Damageplan, and Hellyeah. “Naturally, being fans of Pantera, we wanted to work with the same mastermind behind the scenes of such a great band,” points out Freilich. “After doing our demo here in New Zealand, we wanted the album to be the best it could, so we jumped on a plane, headed to Dallas, got stuck in with Sterling on our debut album [2008′ self-titled release] – which sounds great – and have been friends
and worked together ever since.””Sterling always keeps us on our toes, which is great in a studio environment, and draws the best out of each member – which is why we chose to work with Sterling again. This being our second album with Sterling, it felt like we were all on the same page. As a whole, there are many awesome memories – Rana’s noise gate pedal’s ridiculous battery consumption, James’
pantless antics, the bands’ ridiculous coffee consumption, and more laughs and funny stuff than you can shake a stick at. We think Sterling really got a taste of us Kiwis in our own environment!”

And as evidenced by such hard-hitting standout tracks as “Break,” “March to Death,” and the album’s title tune, the quartet is certainly starting to hit its metallic stride. “We would have to
say that we really enjoy all of the songs equally,” admits Keill. “It’s so hard to pick a favorite when you have worked on something that you have poured a lot of time and emotion into. Each song has moments that make my hair stand on end. It’s kind of like asking,’Which of your children do you like the best?'”
As one would figure from the explosiveness of their recordings thus
far, Legacy of Disorder is one ferocious live beast when they hit the stage, which Thompson confirms, when asked what can fans expect from catching the band live. “A high energy, hard-hitting precision live
set, showcasing each band member’s ability and presence, equating to a brutal live show. We look forward to setting in motion a tour for North America very soon.”

Pittsburgher’s can catch Legacy of Disorder when they play with DevilDriver and GWAR at Mr. Small’s in Millvale Nov. 26

Metal Masters 4< will feature Philip Anselmo (Pantera/Down), Kerry King (Slayer), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Frank Bello (Anthrax), plus Billy Sheehan and Gary Holt (Exodus/Slayer).

If the still-circulating buzz from Metal Masters 3 is any indication, Metal Masters 4 won't disappoint anyone who is lucky enough to see it. Metal Masters 3, which took place at the Key Club in Los Angeles, featured the “Metal Masters” demonstrating their techniques and styles used to create the music that millions bang their heads to every day.

The highlight of the event came when Philip Anselmo jumped onstage to perform Slayer fan-favorites “Angel Of Death” and “Raining Blood” before launching into five songs from the classic Pantera album, Vulgar Display Of Power. Anselmo and the “Metal Masters” comprised of David Ellefson (Megadeth), Chris Broderick (Megadeth), Kerry King (Slayer), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Frank Bello (Anthrax) and Mike Portnoy (Adrenaline Mob/Flying Colors), blazed through “Mouth For War,” “A New Level,” “Walk,” “Hostile,” and “This Love.” Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath joined all of the “Metal Masters” on stage for the finale of “Hole In The Sky.”

“We’re extremely excited to be bringing the Metal Masters series back home to the East Coast with our most diverse and talented lineup to date,” says Mark Menghi, Samson’s Director of Marketing. “I say it every time and this time will be no different, but Metal Masters 4 is going to be the best one yet…”
